Cathlete
A week ago I had a face-lift, upper and lower eyelid surgery, a tightening of my neck (no more turkey wattle), and a little bit of fat transfer to my nasiolabial folds. A combination birthday (59) and Christmas gift to myself. I was under for about 4 hours. The doctor and nurses were very impressed with my vital signs before, during, and after surgery--probably because of my devout workouts with Cathe. Even though I still am puffy and bruised, I can already see my new neck and chin area, which I used to cover up with turtlenecks, and my new eyes. I already had the stitches out yesterday on my eyes and front of my ears and under my chin. Next week the staples in the hairline. My husband was completely and is completely supportive while I retreat--as long as he doesn't have to hear any of the gory details of what they did. Since he is the only one who knows, I just had to tell somebody, so here I am in relative obscurity and anonymity confiding with all of you. My doctor says no aerobics for a month, so I will have to get back into my Cathe routine gradually. I am actually rather happy that the new DVDs won't be out for awhile, so I don't have to test my patience. I am going to start some walking next week.

What a nice Christmas/Birthday present for yourself. I hope your recovery is easy and you can enjoy the holiday festivities looking fabulous!!!

What an excellent gift for yourself! I've watched a number of operations and found a face lift absolutely fascinating! I hope you have a quick recovery!

It's funny, but I actually feel like the old me is coming back after gradually disappearing the last few years. I kept seeing myself looking more and more like my mother, and I just wasn't ready for that, when I feel much younger. I also found myself obsessing over facial creams that made promises they couldn't keep and procedures that were less expensive but would not really take off the years, so I started reading and thinking about doing this for about a year and then made my plans.

I'm so proud of you! You've worked hard on your body, why not improve everything else?

Some people say they would never have surgery. (don't believe them) I say go for it; my nose job and veneers were the best things I've bought for myself, unless you count Cathe!

I know what you mean about looking like your mother. My Mom had perfect skin with no wrinkles (she died at 58); but I look just like my Dad. Especially since I've hit 40! Can you say Botox?

Good luck and take care as you heal. You will never be sorry!

Thanks for the kind words. I read a book titled Two Girlfriends Get Real About Plastic Surgery and they would agree with you about women who say they would never never get surgery, and then after they see the results in someone they have dressed down for being vain, they ask for advice on how to go about it. The book is great--both friendly and full of information and advice.

I had lipo last year at this time on my buttocks, hips, inner and outer thigh and knees. I had vaser so it wasn't as painful as traditional lipo and my recovery was very speedy. I had a touch up on my knees a couple of weeks ago because the doctor needed to take a little more to make things more even. The bruising and pain is already gone.

I thought sometime down the road I might consider a face lift but read that it was awfully painful and a slow recovery. It's good to hear it might not be that bad.
