Corneal Ulcer??

I've never had one personally but work in an opticians office. We saw a patient last week with a pretty bad one. Eye drops were prescribed and we saw the patient daily to monitor the healing process.

NO contacts for QUITE some time....sorry!

Do whatever the doctor tells you and make sure you go for all of your follow up appointments.

I had one. I only went about two weeks tops without wearing contacts, then my eye doctor told me it was okay to start wearing them again. It was really bad when it started. My eye was super red and all puffed out. I was at work too and everyone was looking at me like I was diseased. It started healing right away when I started the eye drops.

What kind of drops did you have? I'm using Zymar and for a week I also used Tobradex ointment at bedtime. Did you have any sensitivity in wearing the contacts again? Also, do you know if once you have one youre more succeptible (sp?) to getting another one? I've been wearing my glasses for 2 weeks now. Very awkward after wearing contacts for 15 years. Went for my 3rd follow-up yesterday and he says that it barely shows up with the dye and light now. He's weaning me off the drops over the next 9 days and he wants to see me in 3 weeks. Then I can get new contacts and glasses. I'm not going to use the contacts I had because they were due to be replaced.

This was almost 4 years ago, so I don't remember the name of the drops. He also gave me a prescription for some ointment to put in my eye, but the pharmacy I went to didn't have it and I had to go out of town for work, so I never did get the ointment. By the time I got back, it had healed and he gave me the okay to wear my contacts again. My eyes are not more sensitive to contacts and it hasn't happened since. They thought it would leave some scarring on my cornea, but it didn't.
