Good Morning All

Well DS took a short nap yesterday so just had time to finish up decorating. I swear I'm missing a box of decorations. Wondering if I got in a purging mood and now don't remember. Either that or I lost a box in the move last year.

Anyhow, went outside to play over at a neighbours. It was fun as the parents were out and the kids played together so we could stand around and talk. Warm enough when in snow suits. Got home in time for dinner by DH. I took mine later as I wanted to get a leg w/o in. Borrowed the Original Buns of Steel from the library as it was getting a lot of talk over at VF. I guess I really like weights form strength training and not floor work. Don't really enjoy the burn that floor work type excercises seem to create. Anyhow, glad I tried it. Some sort of cardio and abs on the books for tonight.

Kim - I see you were up with DS the other night with a bad cough. I read recently that buckwheat honey works better than cough syrup. I've taken it a few times when I've felt a tickle coming on and it seems to help. I tried giving it to DS but he doesn't like it. Thought you might want to try it. Just a tablespoon before bed I guess is suppose to soothe the throat for sleeping.

Ok back to work

Morning!

Had another busy weekend, with cleaning, running to dance class, and shopping. And that was only Saturday. On Sunday it was church, run to the gym for a run and a swim, and then to a Tastefully Simple party. They had a few things that I bought, and of course these things are way to high in calories, but will be a great to bring to parties as a dish.

Patricia, I think I have that workout on VHS! LOL! I have not been to VF in a long time, why are they so into this workout all of a sudden. LOL! We will be getting out the decorations this weekend, because we are hosting Thanksgiving for his family. His mother always wants to see our house all decorated up, so this will give her and dad an chance to see the house without making a special trip.

Okay, I can't believe I'm typing this, you guys are going to think I'm crazy. But would you believe that ds and I spent the night at Children's Hospital as he had a bad asthma attack  I'm getting to the point, wondering if we should look at rescheduling our trip till he's doing better, his poor little body is just so worn down. Thanks for the tips on some natural ways to boost his immune system.

I actually called my aunt who practices naturopathic medicine and lives in another province. (DH thinks she's a quack  but whatever) and she is going to come with a treatment plan and send it to me tonight. I'm willing to give it a try but only things that I can buy in a health food store nothing too wacky ( she can be pretty off the wall)

Good morning,
No workout for me yesterday, but I did get a short walk in during my break. Today was GS Back, Biceps and Shoulders, a timesaver premix, then added on some wrist and forearm work, plus some shoulder strengthening work with a weighted ball against the door. Today is a golf practice night. I have to go in to work early so it gives me a little more time in the evening to get the practice in.

Kim, my heart goes out to you and your DS. (((Hugs))) to you and your DS. I remember my sister having asthma attacks when we were younger. Seemed she was allergic to dust (or so my mother thought) so Mom would always be mopping the floors in the bedroom. Sister's attacks were never too bad, but I can see how scary they can be.

Laurie, a busy weekend for you, as usual! Ooooh, I love Thanksgiving and decorations. Guess I'd better get out my few items too. Means I have to clean my house which is in dire need right now.

Patricia, bet your house looks nice! You guys are all putting me to shame. Our weather is still pretty warm here. Usually, you don't see anyone putting up decorations until after Thanksgiving, which is a week from this Thursday.

Got my Mom hooked up to the internet on her laptop last night. I feel better now as I talked her into buying one. Her old PC is around 8 years old and has Windows ME on it. I told her she needs to cut that umbilical cord and get with the program!

Must run,

Kim, I was just thinking about you this a.m. as I was getting ready for work and how low DS's immune system must be that it seems to be one thing after another. You have about 2 more weeks I think b/4 your trip? What if you cut out all activities between now and then and insist on bed rest early in the evenings and not going anywhere during the weekends? Maybe even keep him home from school on Fridays when you're off? Sending healing vibes your way.

Morning Coolers,

Yesterday we had a session with the PT at the gym, and she gave us a list of exercises to do on the machines. I will probably contact her again in another 8-12 weeks, to do a change to the program. LOL! Wish I could afford to hire her, because she was very good at applying the machines that would be "safe".

Kim, Your poor ds has to dread going to that hospital. I don't think that you are crazy at all to try to help your son in whatever avenue you can find to help him.

Jeanette, Are you having family over for turkey day, or are you heading to someone elses house? I think my DH was the one that said we would host this year. I don't mind at all, gives me a chance to show how well I can or can't cook. LOL!

Patricia, Sounds like you have given Kim some good advice.

Have a great day!

Laurie

Well got GSL done ( will do GSBSB tomorrow instead)

Thanks for the sweet words yesterday. I was pretty emotional off and on all day. We left the hospital at 7 am after being there most of the night and I was at work by 8, my mom came and stayed with ds in the am and then he went to school in the afternoon. I was just really overtired and some comments by one coworker had me really upset, she just has her own "issues" and can be so unprofessional at times. I can usually ignore her (better than most of my coworkers do) but yesterday she had me in tears. It would have been nice to take the day off but I feel so bad that I've had to take so many family sick days lately. Although most of my coworkers thought I was crazy to be there and kept trying to send me home to sleep.

Laurie It sounds like you're got right into the gym! Have you tried any of the classes yet?

Patricia, I really like your advice! DS wanted to go out tonight and I said no way, and he was not happy with me! They have no school Friday and we don't have much on the schedule for the weekend so we are going to be very quiet, eat lots of good foods and start the herb/vitamins that my aunt is sending. Maybe we'll do a movie marathon or something. DD is going to a birthday sleepover so DH and I can spend lots of time "entertaining" ds since he's so bored.

Jeanette Is you mom using the internet? Is the internet new for her? What does she do on the computer?

Kim

Hi girls,
Just sitting here watching TV. Busy day at work today. I have EEO (Equal Employment Opportunity) training for the next 2 days at the prison next door. Will have a sore butt from that I'm sure.

One of our outside cats that we've had for quite some time got hit by a car tonite. It was dark and I think our dog scared him, chasing him into the street. DH will bury him tomorrow. It's sad, but would have been very, very sad if our dog had gotten into the street. Don't even want to think about that one. :(

Kim, my Mom uses the computer for her email, check the weather, check her hometown newspaper for the obituaries, etc. She had the other one down pretty good. I really don't think Vista will be a problem for her. I think that's wise to have a quiet weekend.

Laurie, we are going to my sister's house for Thanksgiving. I'm signed up for sweet potato casserole and cranberry sauces. More if she needs it. Which machines were unsafe?

Kim, I think there is a cough syrup called "Buckley's" or something like that. Supposed to taste nasty but be good for a cough. Hmmm, wonder if it has buckwheat honey in it?

Good night,

Jeanette, I'm so sorry about the cat. :(:(

Up early today and did GSBSB before work, have a meeting at the school for kid's daycare tonight.

Good Morning All

Have a little time this morning at home to chat, because I'm waiting for the bus that will pick youngest DD up. Yesterday I tried out the elliptical, ran a mile on the indoor track as fast as I could handle. Then DD and I went to the bball court to shoot hoops. Then DD suggested that we play a little 1:1. That was fun until one of DD's shots got wedged into the top of the backboard! :D  LOL! We had a good laugh at that one.

Kim, That movie marathon sounds like a lot of fun. My choice would be a Star Wars marathon. LOL! Just LOVE all those movies. What type of movies does your family like to watch! Nope have not tried any classes yet, but thinking of trying a spin class.

Jeanette, There is a chest fly machine that has you start out with your arms so far back, that you very well could strain a chest muscle. And some of the ab and back machines just didn't even seem like they where doing anything useful. LOL! She pointed out that we needed to be careful with the leg extension machines, in the fact that we didn't want to use to much weight or we could hurt our knees. So I liked the fact that she pointed things like that out to us. Hope the meetings go fast, and you are not to bored. LOL! Seems to be a very dry subject though!

Have a great day!

Laurie

Morning,
Today was Amy Bento's Hi/Lo Dome, 2 combos with interval blasts, then did the abs from Cardio & Weights. Tonite will be a bike trainer session with the Garage Boys.

Kim, thank you for the condolences for our cat. His name was Mr. Mouw.

Laurie, I see how that chest machine would be bad. Glad you have someone to point out those kinds of things. I liked the first 3 Star Wars (older ones), but have never been able to keep my attention on the new ones. I would like to sometime though.

Okay ladies,
I went to the Garage Boys tonite. Had a good workout (45 minutes), but the neat thing was the guy that has the Garage had a few kettlebells and sold me one. It's an 18#er. I will pay him $30 for it, which I think is a good buy. I just got done ordering The Kettlebell Way so once I get that, I'll be in business.

Had my training today. Wasn't too bad, one more day of it tomorrow.

Night all,

Good morning Coolers:
Today was GS Legs, but I did some of the squats and leg presses, then switched to floor work. Tonite is housecleaning.

Will be sitting on my butt all day in training again. The only exercise I get is walking 10' around the corner to the bathroom.

Jeanette

Morning!

Dang cold around here this morning! Guess it is one way to wake up. No workout yesterday, because for some reason my family wants to eat. LOL! So I spent the time yesterday grocery shopping, and then coming home to make my family taco's. This morning I put a roast in the slow cooker, so I can have something ready when the DD's and I come home from the gym.

Jeanette, You had a really great workout yesterday, with your morning and evening. WTG! :D Oh you have to go into those new Star Wars with an open mind, because they are actually very good movies. I'm not to partial with the "young" actors, but the story and action are very good. Drink lots of water today, wo that you have to walk that 10' constantly. :D

Laurie

KPC done! I'm off work today, my one week/month in which I only work 3 days. I am sure glad to be off, the office politics/drama has been terrible this week, I sure hope things are better soon.

Laurie Have you guys had any snow yet? An indoor track would be nice, I guess you still need to do your morning run to take the dog out? Would you believe that I've never seen the Star Wars movie. LOL

Jeanette Oh, I have kettlebells on my Christmas list, let us know how you like them. Hope the training goes well today and not to boring!

Kim

Hello Coolers,
Long day in training today, but it was a nice group of people and we interacted a lot. Anyway, that's all done. Back to the grind tomorrow, but will get off early and play a little golf by myself.

Kim, hope you enjoyed your day off today. I got an email that they shipped the wrong kettlebell workout (Enter the Kettlebell #2), instead of the 1st one. They are going to ship the right one immediately and are having me send back the wrong one. I won't be starting KB's until I view a tutorial. Last think I want is an injury or a kettlebell thru the TV set.

Laurie, I'll have to rent the Star Wars movies sometime and just watch with no distractions. I really loved the first 3 and think I just need to concentrate until they hook me. I got twice the workout today. They moved us to a different training room that was a whole 20' from the bathroom. I think I'll hit the grocery store tomorrow night after golf. I just didn't feel like doing it today.

Jeanette

Good morning,
Today was Intervals 4-7 from Lowmax, done with 2 risers to make it a little more intense. This workout always makes me sweat, even with 2 doors open in my house AND a fan going. Tonite will be a little golf after work (going to get out a bit early to get it in). Tomorrow DH and I are going to take the Rhino out and go for a ride. Could be one of the last for the season. Will wear my Outback duster, which is super warm. Back to the grind at work, day will fly by I'm sure as I have lots to do.

Jeanette

Morning!

Didn't make it to the gym yesterday, because DD had a headache and was sleeping on the couch when I got home from work. So I headed to my basement and did 4DS premix Chest/Shoulders/Triceps, 4DS KB and 4DS Abs. We have plans for the gym tonight where I will work on Legs/Back/Biceps and probably a 30 min run.

Dang cold this morning!

Kim, Do you work with a lot of women? I never have to deal with that type of drama, because I work with all men. We had a little snow, but nothing major. It was enough to make the roads ice over, so lots of fender benders. I have not been running with the dog in the mornings, because it is just way to dark out. :( Plus I need to get some under armour clothing, to keep myself warm during cold temps like we are having right now.

Jeanette, Just go into those movies with an open mind, I really like the guy who portrays Obi Wan, and of course Yoda is a lot younger in these movies so he shows off his Jedi powers really well! LOL! Have a great time on the Rhino tomorrow. I was watching a news clip last night, and they followed this woman for a week of grocery shopping. She was only suppose to spend $125 for the week for a family of 5. She actually spent $127 for the week, and I thought that was pretty good. They included any take-out food too! She had to plan meals way in advance, which is something that I need to do a better job of. LOL!

Have a great day!

Laurie

Just finished GSCT and am I going to feel that tomorrow! I matched or exceeded Cathe on all the weights, the pushups I did all but 2 sets on my toes. DS did it with me!
The kids had the day off today, we went to parent teacher conferences (kids are doing great :rolleyes:but they both talk to much :D), then I took them mini golfing. We went to a sports store and I bought them a good quality snorkeling gear as ds can start swimming next week so I can get them used to snorkeling for our trip.

Laurie I work with all women and most of them have worked with each other for many many (too many) years and they just bicker all the time, but lately it's become more fighting.
Groceries are getting so expensive!

Jeanette Hope you enjoy golf tonight!

Waving to Patricia!
Kim
