~~~~~ Coolers in December ~~~~~
GRRrrrr, got 2hrs into my drive and had to turn around due to weather. That's okay though, we had company for dinner and after 3 glasses of wine I feel like I still went to a party:p:D
Looking forward to a nice lie-in tomorrow hopefully. DH takes DS to hockey 1st thing in the a.m.
Oh Patricia, I saw the snow on the news. My goodness what a mess! Better to just stay home until the roads are clear. How frustrating to have to turn around.
Would you believe that with the windchill it's going to be MINUS 48 here tonight? But we still have no real snow. I'll trade the cold for your snow?
Still haven't started back to working out :eek::eek:maybe tonight
This morning I slept into almost 9! I feel so energetic, I really needed that sleep. I started on the Cathe's december rotation today, with Cardio Timesaver from Drill Max, it was fun!
Evening Coolers
Okay, I guess it's official, I've dropped the AHB rotation. Looks like I'm in good company with Kim:D Yesterday I did Push/Pull then spent 2.5hrs walking DS's toboggen up a hill. My calves are killing me today and it hurt actually to do Turbo Jam - CP#2. I think I'm going to concentrate on some TB w/os this week. Maybe try some Jari Loves that I have not done much. I still have JM circuit one to try out too. No More Trouble Zones I think it's called.
Met another couple for brunch today and then did some Xmas shopping. Yesterday Santa showed up at the party and it was so much fun watching DS watching Santa. I still couldn't get him to take his picture today with him though:( I think this year will be the 1st year with no Santa pic:confused:
Kim - I saw P90X+ at one of those As Seen on TV stores today. Almost bought it but thought I don't even do the P90X ones as it is. 1st time though I'd seen in in Canada retail. Oh, I also saw the Firm Wave there too, but couldn't find the price - not that I was interested in that. I've made hints to DH I might want a punching bag, but also indicated that iIwanted to wait to see if I like Cathe's new DVD with it before buying one and since we're moving some time in the next 7-8 months I'd be smart to wait:eek: I would rather have the snow then the cold. It was so fun to be out in it yesterday. Good to see you're back in the saddle again:D I see you're getting stressed now. THAT's what you get for taking a vacation in December...... Drop the xmas baking and life is so much easier:D:D
Laurie - hope you had a great weekend. The countdown is on now!
Morning Coolers,
Today was Disc 34 Chest & Back!!! Only two more to go. :D Yesterday I ran Week 2 Day 1 of Gateway to 8k, and Saturday I changed my mind from BFBM to Less is More Cardio and Incredible Abs. Both of these are with Cindy Whitmarsh, and they where on Exercise TV On Demand. My calves are still sore from that workout. ;) I'm going to download that one from their web page, and DH said we should be able to burn that onto a DVD. :D It just gets to warm in our family room, I'm so used to my cold basement. :D
Kim, I would be more than happy to go through Insanity with you. That would be fun to have someone else going through the torture with me. So far my schedule looks like I will be starting Feb 1 with the Fit Test. :D I have actually seen results from this STS rotation, I really like the improvement in my body composition. When I did P90X I got bulky, but with this rotation I didn't. I think it was because each cycle was different, where P90X was Meso 2 for 90 days. I'm just happy that when I put on a shirt, my arms still fit the sleeves. :D Sounds like the timesaver rotation is just the ticket for you to get the stress level down. ;)
Patricia, Before I forget again, I do have the VHS of RS and you are more than welcome to have it, just PM me with the info of where to send it. ;) Sorry to hear about all your snow too, we actually did pretty well but the snow was very very heavy. We are suppose to start the really cold cold now. Great just before Christmas starts. But if I'm going to have to drive, I would rather have the cold.:D There are only two workouts in P90X+ that I like and use. The other workouts are good, but they move to fast for me. :rolleyes:
Have a great day!
Off to do some Xmas shopping tonight. I'm not sure if I'll have time to get in any w/o. DH is going to Las Vegas this coming weekend so just trying to get as much done before he goes and then before you know it it's XMAS:eek::p
Laurie - I can empathize on the sore calves:D I know what you mean about the colder temps. I still have a fan going even though I'm in the basement too! Nothing worse than have the furnace go on, standing directly under the heat vent in the ceiling. Talk about taking the wind out of your sails:D Thanks so much for the offer of RS. I'm going to hold off on it since the new STS cardio is coming with more step. I didn't enjoy that one enough to repeat it too often!
Just finished Body Max 2 cardio only. I'm sure enjoying done some more fun cardio! Thank you Patricia, for not making me feel like a quitter! I find a lot of the beachbdoy products, are great workotus but just not enough variety/fun to do a whole rotation. I have never seen the P90X+ retail but I do see them on my shelf not geting much use:eek: Oh yes, the uphill walking in the snow would be a great calf workout! Did you see Edmonton's weather -58?? Goodness!
I was talking with some patients from Whale Cover in Nunavut, and they were complaining how cold it was here:rolleyes::rolleyes: This frigid arctic mass as they call it on the news is suppose to break on Thursday! Maybe it's moving over to Laurie's:eek::eek:
Laurie, I'm going to start with STS strength/cardio when it gets here but I would like to do another round of Insanity at some point maybe even with STS strength. I don't know if I'll be ready for Feb 1 but we'll see how the new dvds go.
My coworker bought here first Cathe dvd (on my recommendation) so she did 4DS boot camp for the first time and was very impressed at the weights that Cathe uses! She was complaining of sore arms today.
Las Vegas sounds nice Patricia, are you tempted to go with him?
Kim
Morning Coolers,
Today I did manage to get W2D2 of GW28K run in. Dang was it cold though, it was around 17F when I went to work. Probably colder than that when I ran in the dark! :D I need to get some running tights, because my legs where a bit to cold this morning. I do have the underarmour top, so that was nice and toasty.
Patricia, Did you have a good time shopping, or where there to many people out and about? ;) Does your DH go to Vegas every year, mine has a conference there every year. I went with him once, and we had a good time.
Kim, Yep I think those cold temps headed our way. :p It is suppose to get colder as the day goes on, so it was probably a wise decision on my part to run this morning instead of after work. I still have my tm as a stand by. I probably will be doing another Insanity rotation during the summer, because I think it would be good for my DD's to do this before XC starts. Glad your co-worker's arms are getting stronger. :D
Have a great day!
Afternoon Coolers
Went out for Lebonese (sp?) today and I am just stuffed. This restaurant just opened up so it was fun tor try out some international food that we just don't get this far north:rolleyes:
Got some shopping done, but the shelves are starting to get bare. That's what I get for leaving it so late in a small city. Might head over to Sudbury on the weekend and do some shopping.
LV is strictly a guy's weekend. Last year it was BIL's 40th in Vancouver, and now DH's BF turns 40 so they're going to LV. How knows where the guys will go in 2 years when DH turns 40. I asked DH if he was taking a camera and he said absolutely not!:eek: For my 40th we went to Florida and Daytona last Feb so I don't feel too left out, especially since DH 1st suggested a cruise.
I gave DH the link to Cathe's gift certifcate page so I think I'm hoping there is something new next year to pre-order as I don't need anything else from her right now. DH say the RT to San Diego and suggested to pay my airfare but I'd rather go for more than 3 days across the country and 3 hour time zone change. Plus, a trip in March so soon after our Feb. trip seems a waste and I have a feeling we might be putting the house on the market then too so just too much going on for me to handle.
Laurie - when I was running those tights would have been on already this late into Dec - yikes. Are the paths/road bare for running safely. I just scared me too much to run in the winter. Funny enough, I've only been to LV once - it was for the wedding of the guy turning 40 that they're going back there for. He just lost his job so this hopefully will keep his spirits up.
Kim - hey, I saw in the news about a woman there who had a baby and didn't even know she was preggers. I just never understand that when I hear those stories.:confused: Yikes on the cold - that's not convincing me to put Winnipeg forward as a place to move to next year. We're all wondering where we're going as the new projects are slow in being announced so DH and start wondering if we should request a transfer. We're good friends with the manager of our company there. I leant a co-worker one of the Plyo w/os and I keep asking him and his wife if they've done it yet. I'm sooo sure once they try it they'll realize the gym isnt' the only place to get a workout. Maybe I've scared them off when I called it my "puke int he bucket w/o":p
At lunch today I say a personal training poster for kettlebells and MMA so I pointed it out to DH. Hint, hint, hint for xmas. My fingers a x-d.
Oh, some sort of weight lifting w/o on tap tonight. Might start wrapping presents too.
Kim - I just saw that announcement - yippee. At least we won't have to worry about wanting it in time for Xmas. We'll be lucky to get it the 1st week of January:eek:
Laurie - I soooo tried to like Jillian last night but lasted only 20min. I did the No More Trouble Zone (whatever it's called) and just can not get into her. Does not motivate me at al. It didn't help that I was not really in the mood to w/o so for a rarity for me I just stopped my w/o and said that's it for me!:mad:
Today is another day! I think I'm going to do some sort of fun step workout by Cathe:) after hockey practice with DS.
Morning Coolers,
Today was Disc 35 Plyo Legs, I also added in Ab Circuit Yoga Based Abs.
Patricia, Hope your DH has some decent weather, but I guess even 50F deg is better than what you probably have right now. :D Sorry to hear that Jillian isn't motivational. Some people like her, and some people don't. I guess I fall into the first group. :D
Kim, That is great that we will be getting those workouts before Christmas. I just might be able to do some of those next week when I'm on my recovery week. ;)
Have a great day!
Evening Coolers
Just finished Michelle Dozois' The Ultimate Workout. 1st time I did it. 30min of floor aerobics (not too dancey Laurie) and it packs in a lot in those 30 min. Then 30 min. body toning using light and medium weights along with the high step and gliding disks. Enjoyed the gliding disks but don't like combining lower body movement with weights. Just doesn't feel like you can concentrate and really work the muscles. I guess I like isolation workouts:rolleyes:
Went to DS's 1st Xmas recital at his school today. Just 1/2hr during lunch so don't have to take time off work. He was so cute dressed up as a reindeer and singing and dancing on the stage.
Laurie - I haven't checked the weather for LV. Must go and do that now. Maybe I won't feel so envious! A co-worker just left to fly to Hawaii for the Xmas holidays. Talk about envy there:cool:
Kim - should we continue to be friendly with Laurie? She's going to have Shock Cardio before US:eek::eek::p:p
Busy here doing Chrsitmas stuff. Yesterday was ds's Christmas band concernt and today is my work's dinner party. I have today off work but need to buy groceries, bake cupcakes for dd's Christmas party and a lasagna for ds's Christmas party. Yesterday ds needed cupcakes for a bake sale for the band trip.:rolleyes::rolleyes:
Laurie:Buy the running tights so well worth it! I haven't been running as much the last couple of years but I did buy some running tights a few years ago and loved them after wearing sweatpants outside in the winter! So warm and comfortable to run in! Shock cardio for recovery! You'll have to give us reviews as with international shipping at christmas it'll be a few days till we see them.
Paticia Aww, ds sounds very cute in his recital. Recitals at that age are very cute! The Grade 7 & 8 band last night not so cute but I was surprised how good they were!
I had to lauch at the "puke in the bucket" workout, most people wouldn't jump at doing that workout. The advertisement for personal trainig for Kettlebells and MMA sounds very interesting, so it's personal workout sessions with someone to get 1-1 instruction? That would be great for kettlebells.
Morning Coolers,
Today I managed to get outside for W2D3 of GW28K, and Cami was NOT a good runner this morning. She got the sent of deer, and I had a hard time controlling her for one 8 min. interval. :rolleyes: Still a good run for me, because there was no wind at all.
Patricia, LOL you know me sooo well. :D I have a few of Michelle's workouts, and may have to check into that one. Your DS's recital really does sound cute, I remember those times so well. Now I just have to deal with teenage sass. :rolleyes: Oh Hawaii is an envious thing. :D I will give you details of my Shock Cardio experience. Of course the MMA is probably the ones that I will try out first. ;)
Kim, I have tomorrow off so I can get some shopping finished, so I'm going to get myself some tights. This morning wasn't to bad, but I sure could use them when the wind is blowing. DH even said this morning, that if I'm going to be running outside during the winter, I should get the proper clothing. :D I have to make Gingerbread Cookies for my youngest DD some time this weekend. She has a party on Tuesday, I think! :eek:
Tomorrow is my last day of STS! I loved every minute of these workouts. ;)
Have a great day!
Oh Kim those pics are very nice, and I think we have some of the same positions for our pics when we where at Disney. :D The one by the fountain is for sure a spot we picked also. :eek:
Evening Coolers
Did Step Blast tonight and just finished watching Survivor. Sunday night is the finale. I guess that'll be the end of my t.v. watching season until after the New Year. Off to bed as I'm having a hard time staying awake.
Okay, first I just have to say that I happen to skim yesterday's post and I can't believe all the typos I made. I guess I should do some proofreading before I post.
Work talked me into coming in today as we had lots of new patients waiting to be seen. I agreed but said I wouldn't come in till 9:30 as have to help kids to school. DD has 2 teacher gifts, 1 secret santa gift, her lunch and 2 trays of cupcakes. She is only 9, I couldn't see her walking to school and carrying all that although it's a block. DS can't help her much as he had a lasagna to carry that will be warm :rolleyes: The school drives me crazy sometimes. The lasagna was a project in which they had to work in pairs to translate a favourite recipe from English to French. His partner bought in his mom's lasagna recipe then ds announced Wednesday that they needed to make the recipe for Friday as part of the project.
Patricia, I only watched the first few episodes of Survivor but maybe I'll watch the finale. Who's left in the finale?
Laurie Enjoy your day off! Are you finishing off your Christmas shopping?
