Coolers: Christmas Week

Do you think it's really possible to gain 8 lbs on a 11 day holiday?:mad: I only worked out once on vacation, went for a run one morning but lots of walking around the theme parks on 2 days. The food was amazing!

It sounds like I'll have a least a month before STS arrives and I really want to get back into the exercise routine so was looking at different rotations (P90X, Cathes, etc) nothing jumped out at me, I guess I might try Cathe's Jan'08 as I was busy doing P90X when she posted that one and it's a weight loss one. Any other suggestions?? Seems like everyone is doing well keeping up with their excercise routine during this busy holiday time.

Jeanette, I printed out that recipe too, maybe I'll make it for christmas morning be nice not to cook and have some special. DH loves french toast! What are your plans for Christmas??

Laurie At least you're getting a white Christmas :p:p What havoc that blizzard played with all the flights! Minneapolis airport was crazy on Sunday after they had been closed on Saturday, there were people sleeping on the floor everyone. I was glad we were stranded for the extra night in Orlando not Minneapolis, beautiful airport hotel and the kids swam outside. Are your girls getting excited for Christmas? Do they get 2 weeks off school??

Patricia Have you tried IMAX yet? I like that one. Did you get your Cathe calendar??

Okay, I'm going to post again with a trip report, you can skip it if you're not interested I'm just excited to share.

Okay, here's our trip report.

Wednesday Our flight down was fairly smooth, we were a hour late leaving our local airport as they had to de-ice the plane but had plenty of time in Minneapolis to eat brunch and have the kids play with their cousins. Jeannette, my mom didn't end up coming  after all the last minute planning she decided it was too expensive. We got to the Royal Pacific Resort Hotel at Universal Studios, beautiful resort we loved it! Only a 5 minute walk to the parks and staying at one of their hotels you get a seperate line for the rides, so no waiting!!:D The kids swam, then we went to Maragariteville for supper and then we swam again:D Great start to the vacation.

Thursday Raining but hot. Went to Isles of Adventure. Lots of water rides so we just let ourselves get more wet and then because we were only 5 mins from the hotel we went back for dry clothes and lunch. By the afternoon the sun had come out and most of the crowds had left due to the rain, so finished seeing the park. Went to Hard Rock Cafe for supper. Then DH took the kids for another late evening swim while I watch some of Survivor.

Friday Very cool outside needed jackets and sweatshirts. We went to Univeral studios for the day and the took a taxi over to Disney's Magic Kingdom for Mickey's Very Magically Christmas Party. Very long day, we left Disney at 11:15 and both kids fell asleep in the taxi before we were out of the Disney park. So strange seeing Chrismas ornaments on palm trees. Disney had fake snow falling:rolleyes:

Saturday We went back to Isles of Adventure for a couple of rides/lunch as it was only a 5 min walk and the van for the cruise wasn't picking us up till 12:30. Got to the cruise line, told them that no one in our family had been sick in the last 2 weeks :eek::eek:. All 4 of us did have some motion sickness that evening as the seas were quite rough. We attended a sail away party with all the Disney characters on deck, had dinner then a musical show.

Sunday We went to Key West, it was amazing cruising in, the water and scenery is unbelievable and they were playing Jimmy Buffett music. WOW! We tried the famous frozen Key lime pie dipped in chocolate. Yum, I think it was 400 calories  oh well we were on holidays. The guys (DH and DBIL) went to another Margariteville ( they went to 4 in total). We just walked around and shopped.

Monday A day at sea. The kids enjoyed the pools, lots of activities to do. My sister and I ran. There is a big show every evening.

Tuesday Grand Caymans. We went shopping in the morning. In the afternoon we went a catamaran ride to stingray city. We snorkelled with the stingrays! The seas were rough which made getting in the water intimidating but once you were in it was great. We all got a little freaked when the stingrays got too close (They liked to be petted), I prefer seeing them at a slight distance.

Wednesday. Cozumel DD and I went with my sister and her family to swim with the dolphins! This was amazing, the highlight of our trip!! I'll see if we can post pictures later. We all got "kissed", hugged and got to ride the dolphins. Beautiful new facility, really well done. DH and ds went on a 7 hr outing to the Mexico mainland to see the Mayan ruins, they didn't seem real excited about it. Of course some more shopping before we got back on the ship for our nightly bottle of wine and 5 course elegant dinner before the show!

Thursday ANother day to enjoy the ship and the food! There was a pirate party in the evening on deck, with fireworks! They are the only cruise line equipped to do fireworks on board. Saw Bolt in 3D again Disney is the only cruise line with 3D technology. They had a buffet at midnight on deck  for evening snack. DS and his cousin had freedom on the ship and spent lots of time at the kids clubs and roaming the ship. DD was too shy to go to the kids club and only went once. She was in a different club as it went by age. So Thursday afternoon I left her with DH and did go to a lecture by some of the personal trainers and another lecture on Disney innoventions, it was fun to do some adult stuff. DH tried a martini tasting seminer, and my sister did a wine tasting seminar.

Friday We spent the day at Disney's private island in the Bahamas. This was amazing! DS and I did lots of snorkelling, of course being Disney they have all kinds of neat things at the bottom of their snorkelling lagoon to find, like sunken submarines, statues of Minnie mouse, treasure chests. DD just played in the sand all day while DH relaxed. The pirate ship from the Pirates of The Carribbean movie is anchored here. It was a perfect day.

Saturday Up really early, had a beautiful (big) breakfast on ship, then picked up our rental car and headed back to Orlando. We had 4 hrs till we had to be at the airport so just decided to do some shopping of course this was the Saturday before Christmas but the stores were empty:confused::confused: I was really surprise. The Target store was like a ghost town. I looked at some sports stores but no Cathe gear was found. DS bought some NFL jerseys at the Reebok outlet and DD bought Hannah Montana toys at Target. Then off to the airport.

Overall it was a great holiday! Travelling with kids there are always some meltdowns and fighting. Especially spending so much time together!

Kim

Wow Kim, sounds like you had a fabulous time. I didn't realize you were going on a cruise. I just thought you were going to Orlando. Hmm, my cruise turned into Nascar for DH:( Well, I agreed b/c we got a really good deal on accomodations but a cruise is in my future I know!

I'm so glad that everyone was recovered in time for your trip too. Now time to rest and relax - yeah right at the holidays - not going to happen I'm sure.:D:D

I broke down and ordered Chalene Extreme last night and hope it will only take 2 weeks to get here. In the meantime I'm just finishing up the Results DVD by Cindy Whitmarsh - it s 10 day UB / LB rotation with cardio intervals - only 30min each workout that you rotate for 10 days and see results. I think it is a bit like overtraining and my tendonitis in my arm has come back. I finished 8 of the 10 days and now antsy to do something else. I'm thinking of just going through all my old VHS and using them until CLX arrives and to decide if I want to keep them. Most of them are still great w/os.

I'm hoping I can get in about 6 weeks of CLX b/4 my vacation in Feb. I don't think I would get in more than 1-2 weeks if I waited for STS. Also, I attracted to the shorter work outs.

Sounds like you might need to have Cathe crack the whip in Jan. Probably do some light workouts to get your self back into shape b/4 starting any of her Jan. rotations I'm sure as they look intense.

Okay, back to work for me.

Well I guess I'll do the Jan 08 rotation for now. I did Imax 2 yesterday along with the bonus burn and snow shovelling  Today's workout will be Boot Camp.

Patricia, you'll have to let me know how the Chalene Extreme is, I've been kind of thinking of it but the reviews I've read so far haven't been that good. Kim

Good morning Coolers,
No workout for me yesterday, rest day. Today I pulled out a TLT Strength in Movement. It really made me sweat. Functional Fitness, which I think will be good for me for a while. I have bike spin session with the Garage Boys tonite. Will probably do a Cardio Coach while they do a Spinerval.

Patricia, you'll have to let me know how CLX is. I too like the shorter workouts. I'd love to do a cruise sometime. Think maybe DH would go for an Alaskan cruise.

Kim, sounds like you had a wonderful time!!! Thanks for posting what you did everyday. I bet the swimming with dolphins was really neat. I went to the Monterey Bay aquarium once and got to pet the stingrays. It was really cool, though kind of like petting liver... As far as Christmas plans, DH and I will be going over to my parents, where our 3 kids and their families will join us. The rest of my sisters and brother and their families will be there too. Will be a big crowd, as usual. Hope you like the French Toast casserole.

Laurie, are you on vacation?

Got Bootcamp and the extra bonus burn excercises done. This afternoon, made the kids come with me and did some last minute errands. Nothing exciting but nice being off work and having time to get ready for Christmas.

Went over to a coworkers for wine/appetizers yesterday evening. They have been crazy busy at work made me feel guilty that I'm off but we all need our holidays, right?

Kim

Evening Coolers

Got home a little early and did a mish mosh of SJP - cardio and weights and then the standing abs from Kathy Smith's Tummer Trimmers. Wanted a full body w/o as I don't think I'll be able to work out again until Sun. Staying at my sisters from Xmas Eve to the 27th and there is no room for me to w/o so I'll take that as a rest to start working up after the holidays.

Just have to pack the bags. Have a short day tomorrow at work. Probably only until 11'ish then home, pack the truck, p/u DS and get on the road south. Hope the weather is okay.

Kim - I think this Dec. will be just one whole month of fun for you. :p Well I also think that you deserve it after the fall that you just went through.

Jeanette - I keep checking to see if my c.c. has been charged for CLX and nothing yet. Hope everything is o.k. I've been hearing about some defective dvd's so wondering.

Ok, will check in tomorrow a.m. b/4 I get on the road and I have access to a computer where I'm at so will stay in touch when I can.

Merry Christmas

Just popping in to wish you all a very Merry Christmas. We are in the process of heading out the door, but first we need to shovel out the driveway. When is this darn snow going to stop! Hope to talk to you all some time this weekend.

Merry Christmas

Laurie

MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL

Just leaving work shortly to finish packing up the truck and must not forget to p/u DS from daycare b/4d hitging the road south.:p:p

Safe travels Patricia and Laurie!

Did Cardio Kicks and the extra bonus burn. Busy baking and cooking this morning, having 14 people for Christmas Eve dinner.
Kim

Hi Coolers,
I had a good step workout this morning (Christi, of course), then did abs from her Fit To Dance Cardio. After that, I had to hustle to get to work early for a breakfast party at DH's jobsite. I made cornbread for it and he made the beans. A busy day at work, then came home, took a nap and started dishes, then made my Oreo Truffles and Apple Cake for tomorrow's dinner.

Kim, Patricia, and Laurie, hope you all have safe travels and a very Merry Christmas to you and your families.

Anybody else working out tomorrow morning? I sure am. Then better get busy with some housework. Need to vacuum, dust and mop the kitchen floor. I finally finished wrapping presents. i hate wrapping presents.

Jeanette

Busy Christmas Eve, for you Jeanette! Enjoy your Christmas morning workout and time with your family afterwards.

We had fun (except for the sink plugging and backing up) with our Christmas Eve dinner, we had 13 people here. Today DH and I were up before the kids! I guess they stayed up pretty late last night. So we had time to have a quiet coffee before they got up at 8am and opened their presents. DH bought me Cathe's weighted gloves, Cathe baby doll shirt and some workout pants from Lululemon.

We had our French Toast Casserole at 10:30 , Yummy! so I think I will do SJP as we don't have to head to my sister's till mid afternoon.

Hope everyone else is having a great day! Kim

Merry Christmas Coolers

Up early this a.m. with a 3.5 yr old. He woke up at 5:30 and got him to stay in bed to I think 7 then forget it. So we got our stocking out and DS was able to play with those toys until the rest of the house got up after 8. DH took my fitness to heart and got me snow shoes and a kayak along with 12 GC for manicure/pedicures for the next year. So I should be buff in 2009 along with well maintained hands & feet!:p:p:p

At them moment there are 9 adults here but expect 2 more any minute now along with their 2 kids.

Must go down and settle down DS as he is pretty hyper today. One of his gifts didn't work so we're pretty frustrated now:mad:

Have a good day everyone.

Hi Coolers,
I had a very nice Christmas today. Started out with a circuit premix from SJP. Then did my housework, made a couple of casseroles, showered and we headed over to my folks house. There were 28 of us there. DH got a sluice box for gold prospecting. The kids got me some new silverware. It was just great. Tomorrow, however, I have to go to work. Guess I should just be glad I have a job. And I am.

Kim, I got the idea for doing SJP from you this morning. Bummer about the backed up sink. Hey, if it's not that during an event, it's a backed up toilet. Glad you got it fixed. I'm pleased you liked the French Toast Casserole. It's a goodie for sure.

Patricia, wow, oh wow! Snowshoes and a kayak!!! He rocks for sure! That and the pedi/manicures are great gifts! Hope you get the malfunctioning toy fixed/exchanged. That is frustrating.

Laurie, know you are enjoying your Christmas too.

Will be back tomorrow morning,

Jeanette

Having a really lazy Boxing Day, hanging out in my pj's, doing crosswords, kids playing with their new toys. DS and I may go skating this afternoon or I may do IMAX 3. Lots of leftovers so I don't even have to cook today.

I got some kettlebells from my sister for Christmas, so have been cruising the internet for some dvds. Who has kettlebell dvds? Which ones do you like?

Patricia What great gifts you got ! Sounds like ds was very excited! What toy isn't working??

Jeanette What a big family dinner you had! That's too bad you had to work today, hopefully it's a quiet day for you. Boxing Day is a holiday in Canada. I always think it's strange that Americains get 2 days off for Thanksgiving and only one for Christmas. Christmas can by such a crazy busy day that it would be hard to get up and go to work the next day.

Kim

Hope everyone is off enjoying family holiday time or trying out their new toys ;) I did get IMAX 3 done yesterday and today was Muscle Max which DH did with me. I used the kettlebell for a dumbbell a few times, it works well for the plie squats. So I guess that was week one of the Jan '08 rotation, I'll keep plugging along with this rotation till something more exciting comes along.

The weather has warmed up and we're going to head out for a famly skate on the river. :D:D
Kim

Hi Coolers,
Hope everyone is enjoying their time off. I had to work the day after Christmas and didn't feel like working out when I got up. Today, however, after DH and I went out for breakfast, I came home and did a circuit workout (Christi Taylor's Fit To Dance Cardio), then took my dog out and did a snowshoe walk for about 45 minutes. That was a good workout for sure. Not sure what I'll do tomorrow morning. I'd like to get a bike ride in some time as some of the roads have the snow all cleared off, even the shoulders. I am itching to get out again. I could have done a Garage Boys spin session this morning, but breakfast out with DH sounded much more attractive.

Kim, what size KB's do you have? I have 2 kettlebells. One is an 18#er and the other a 9#er as the 18# is too heavy for some of the overhead stuff for me. I'm going easy with the KB's for now as they tend to bother my left elbow, kind of hyperextending it I guess. A lesson with a certified KB expert is what everyone recommends. I have 2 KB DVD's, Enter the KB I and II. I hear the Lauren Brooks one is good. So far, I'm not really bitten on them. Guess I'm spoiled with Cathe's stuff. I checked out your pictures and they are really good. Thanks for posting them. Bet you all have wonderful memories. How was the skating time today? Gosh, I haven't done that in years and years.

Patricia and Laurie, hope you are enjoying your holidays!

Jeanette

Good Sunday Morning All

Well it felt good to sleep in my own bed again last night. Boxing day we got up and went to the mall for a little while. It was just crazy jammed packed - especially Best Buy. Just bought some Xmas cards and tissue paper for next year. Nothing I really needed to make it worth while to stand in line. Then off to the in-laws. They built their own ice rink in the back yard so DS got to try out his brand new skates. He lasted all of 1 min. The ice "scares" him. We decided to stay in a hotel just to be comfortable and not be crowded at someone house. Next day off to meet friends at their house for brunch then a 4hr drive home in the rain.

We were suppose to have friends come up today for a visit but we're expecting freezing rain so they're going to stay home and come up another time.

Jeanette - good for you keeping up with your w/os. I had a good excuse as there was absolutely no room where we've been:D:D Thought I might w/o last night but I was asleep by 10 as just too tired. DS's got a Leap Frog 1st Computer for Xmas and we can't seem to get the mouse to work. It's been very frustation especially since the receipt wasn't where I thought it was.

Kim - did you do the same French Toast Casserole that Jeanette posted? If so it sure is Yummy. I went to a fitness store boxing day looking to see if they had pace weights and they have never heard of them. This is the 2nd store I've been to. But was excited to see that they have KB:D I want to get in to them but want to wait until after CLX and STS are done. They might be a good x-training for when I play BB this summer.

Off to look at your pics. Just ate breakfast so have some time to kill b/4 I w/o. Might do Kathy Smith's Matrix w/o. My arm is till killing me from my w/o on Tues.:mad: So will concentrate on LB again for a few days.
