Coolers: Christmas Week

Kim - great pics

I also noticed that someone is turning the big 40 next year:D:D:D You're only 3 months behind me. :p:p

Thanks for reminding me Patricia ;);)

Went to the mall this afternoon to take in my pants from Lululemon for hemming, it was insanely busy!!! No workout out for me yet, I might do something this evening or I might take a rest day. Not sure what I"ll do for workouts this week, I feeling like I'm in a waiting mode, waiting for a Jan rotation or STS. Might just do some fun workouts this week or I might keep plugging away at the Jan'08 rotation.

patricia, was this ds's first attempt at skating?? It is very scary at first! I did do the french toast casserole, very yummy! Careful with that arm!

Jeanette The snowshoeing sounds like fun! DS and I skated for about 1/2hour yesterday then his asthma and his ankle started to bother him. I was wearing the wrong socks and ended up with quite the friction burn from the top of my skate rubbing my calf.:rolleyes: DS wasn't really supposed to skate until we get the clearance from the orthopaedic surgeon later in January but I thought just a few minutes to get some fresh air couldn't hurt to much.

I got 15# and 10# kettlebells. I've been looking at dvds, they are either not well reviewed or super expensive.

Good afternoon,
Am sitting by the woodstove with a Peach Snapple Tea. Just got done with a bike ride. i did about 12 miles at 17 mph average. Not bad for wintertime. Felt good to be out on the bike, but my bike needs to go to the shop for a little tuneup as it wasn't shifting so well. I also ordered some more Sennheiser twist to fit headphones as my cord is thrashed. I did almost an hour of step this morning, 30 minutes of Imax2 (no 3rd interval), 15 minutes of Tracy Staehle's HISM, then finished with 15 minutes of Christi Taylor's Step Heaven. I put my HRM on but it quit after 30 minutes. For the 30 minutes of Imax2 it showed 245 calories burned. Who knows what it really is. I need to buy some batteries for the chest strap and wrist watch as I've never replaced them and it's sure malfunctioning now. This one is a Timex that is digital to help with the interference I was receiving from the TV with my Polar HRM. My Polar would not function in front of the TV.

Kim, keep me posted on the Lauren Brooks DVD. I'm needing to get back to a rotation and get serious with my workouts. Looking forward to STS and shedding some of this padding I've developed over the last year. I know it's my eating that's been more relaxed. Why the heck are the kettlebell DVD's so darned expensive? Wish Cathe or Amy or Tracy or someone would come out with something more sensibly priced. Know they would really sell. My snowshoe walk would have been more fun, but I wore my X-country ski boots and for some reason, the left one rubbed on the back of my ankle. A little sore this morning when I was doing step.

Patricia, your little one is so cute, scared of the ice. Well, to me, that could be a sensible way to think. Did he ever get to riding his bike? Hope you can get that little computer returned. My DH wanted to go to Best Buy yesterday in Reno and I said go ahead, I wasn't going to stand in lines with crazy shoppers. He didn't end up going. I don't have pace weights, but I do have Plate Mates. I've used them a little. I have 8#ers and 15#ers (dumbbells) that are neoprene covered and the platemates won't stick to them. I need to scrape off some of the neoprene and see if that would work. Why is your arm bothering you?

Are you girls both getting STS? Would be nice if we could all do it at the same time.

Tomorrow is my rest day (another one). Hoping to get a walk in during my break at work though. I'm trying to break out of this lazy slump I've been in. I really like the sunshine and being outdoors and when it's nasty, I just don't feel so like myself. I'm ready for Spring!

Jeanette

Good Monday Morning Coolers
.
Figured we could use this thread to the end of the year. Did Kathy's Matrix Sculpt and ab w/o yesterday. Always feel it in the legs the next day. Want to take DS swimming this a.m. but he doesn't seem to keen on it but I will persist. Have a playdate tentatively arranged for tomorrow a.m. Got to keep him busy during the holidays and me sane:p

I think I might try out IMAX this afternoon. If I chicken out it'll be some sort of cardio anyhow. Went to see The Tale of Despereaux and out for dinner yesterday.

Jeanette - I've developed some sort of tendonitis in my bicep/upper arm since the end of summer and every time I work my UP I'm in pain afterwards for days. I've been concentrating on LB for about 6 weeks now and my arm got better but I think just the condition was dormant b/c as soon as I incorporate more UP it starts acting up again. I've been seeing a PT and he just does heat/massage/ultra sound on it but it doesn't seem to be clearing it up:( Might try to fit in an appt today or tomorrow. Glad to see that you can do some bike riding outside. We've had rain, freezing rain the last few days. Lost some of our snow.:( We were suppose to have some friends come and visit for a few days but they cancelled due to the weather. I'm anxious to get outside and try my new snowshoes. They came with walking sticks too so that will be new for me. Nope, DS still hasn't riden his bike yet. He is just now 3.5 so I expect he'll be on it this summer. He really likes the idea of doing things but gets scared at the last minute (kind of like me)

Kim - there is a thread on OD about KB and dropping them - yikes. I have a feeling KB will be going mainstream in the next year or so so I would expect them to come down in price along with the DVD's. If CLX and STS were not so close I think I would try them out now too. I'm thinking they may be good x-training for me in the summer during BB season. Are you off until the New Year?

I think we all ordered STS so we will be able to check-in for that. But I bet Jeanette will get it first. Us Canadians always get it later....

Okay, off to convince DS to go swimming.

Yikes, it was back to work for me today after almost 3 weeks off. I didn't sleep that well as I really let my wake/sleep cycle get changed around too much. Feeling tired now so not sure if I'll workout or take another rest day. Hoping Cathe posts a good January rotation to get me motivated maybe you'll be interested in joining me Jeanette.

I did order sts and plan to do it as outlined. It'll be fun to have a checkin going but Patricia is right we will get it 2-3 weeks after you do so you might not want to wait for us.

Got my calendar today, I like it. After all the complaining on the OD I wasn't sure what to expect.

Patricia Did you get swimming??

Jeanette I'm glad that you were able to get outside for a bike ride!

Good Tuesday Morning All:

Well, I did do IMAX yesterday but kept it low impact. I'm still feeling it in my legs from Sunday's w/o. It was a good w/o but I think I enjoyed IMAX 2 better but will definetly being doing this one often. I'm thinking I may do a short cardio w/o today plus a good stretching video.

I took Matthew to the swimming pool yesterday but it didn't get more wet then up to his knees. Couldn't get him to go in except to wade a bit. He had more fun throwing things into the pool then using the pool noodle as a fishing rod to try and retrieve them. I think I will sign him up for swimming lessons starting Jan. I wondering if he is taking after his father in this as he couldn't care less about swimming where as I just love the water.

Well, even with being off work I couldn't find the energy or desire to cook dinner so ordered in Chinese. Tried a new restaurant and it was very good so will keep their menu for the future.

I have a few loads of laundry done as I've been up since 6:mad: and just waiting for a call from another Mom who I had tentatively set-up a playdate for Matthew.

Kim - I can see why some are complaining about the new calendar if they wanted to use the pics as posters later on. But I think since STS is suppose to be "bigger than life" that the calendar had to be too. I think this year I will keep it in my w/o room and actually use the stickers and records my w/os. I just didn't want to post my stats for anyone to see in the kitchen last year.:p

Hope everyone has a good day and don't work too hard:D

Good morning,
Yesterday was my rest day, but stayed pretty darned busy at work, lots of up and down the stairs too. Today was a premix from Muscle Endurance. Worked me good. Tonite is Garage Boys spin.

Patricia, dang on the tendonitis. I feel like I could lift heavier, but these joints won't allow it. They are definitely the weak link for me, especially elbows. I think I'll probably modifying a bit in STS. Imax is kind of fun, though I too think Imax2 is better, probably a lot due to the music. Of course, I don't like the 3rd interval in Imax2 with the 1 legged genie hops. Just irritates me for some reason. Have you tried the snowshoes yet? I have retracting X-country ski poles that I shorten up for when I snowshoe.

Kim, 3 weeks off, boy, I'd have to be retrained for sure! Yep, it felt good to get outside and exercise. Was just the ticket as I've been so unmotivated and gotten in the habit of coming home after work and taking a little nap. I enjoy having something physical and fun to do after work everyday (like golf or biking).

Must run, Laurie, are you gone still?

Afternoon All

Just enough time to post my w/o b/4 waking up DS. He has slept extra long this afternoon. Must have gotten tuckered out from his playdate this a.m. The boy he played with is 1/2yr older than him so they got on really well. Will have to make sure we do it again too as it was fun to have some adult time.:D

I tried out one of my Thrift Store finds today. Violet Zaki's Killer Kicks. It was very slow and controlled and I didn't work up a sweat so I did a 30min aerobics w/o with Michelle Dozois then a new Stress Relief Yoga w/o that was 20 min. I found the stretches were not any different than what I already do so probably won't look at that video again. Which is okay b/c it was a Thrift Store fine too:):)

Hey Jeanette - no time yet to try out my snow shoes. Have to pack tonight as we're driving to friends for about 4 days for a visit. Will be sitting in a car for 5hrs each way (if not longer as it's all back country roads we need to take). Trying to figure out what DVD's to take to keep up with my w/os.

Take care,

Another "rest" day for me. Cathe posted that she will be posting a January rotation she I promise to get back on track by doing that rotation whatever it may be.

Patricia Have fun with you friends! I remember the days of play dates now the kids just go visit their friends on their own. I definitely like Imax 2 better than the original but I think the original is harder. I ended up ordering supper in as well, DH was working late as they are doing inventory so just me and the kids

Jeanette I need you to send me some of your energy. Do you ever take a week or two off from excercise? I actually like interval 3 from Imax 3.

Laurie Hope you're home safe and sound! Check in when you can!
Kim

Good evening,
Today's workout was the all step cardio premix from LIC. I did it with 2 risers and it was tough, tough! Last night I went to Garage Boys spin and did Cardio Coach #3 while the fellas did some kind of Spinerval. My workout was just a little over 30 some minutes, but still a good one. I'll do a longer one next time. I've never done Push Play so maybe that one.

Today I got off work at noon (4 hours informal leave granted by our Governor for the holiday) and came home to practice a little golf on the now clear front lawn. I'm going to play down in the valley with a friend on Saturday. I just hit whiffle golf balls and did okay. Will practice a little putting in the house.

Kim, I don't see a rotation posted by Cathe yet for January. Hmmmm, know she posted that she will be preparing one. I've taken some rest weeks before, like when I did P90X. Or when we go on vacation.

Patricia, glad your DS had a nice time playing. Hope you have a good time visiting your friends. Wish we were closer and could go snowshoeing together. What kind of snowshoes do you have? Mine are more of a fitness snowshoe that you could actually run in if you wanted to. When I went the other day, the snow was pretty packed. You probably didn't even need snowshoes, boots would have been fine. When the snow is packed, they are really noisy. I was thinking I should have brought my mp3 player along to drown out the "crunch" of each step, but then I wouldn't hear the "mountain lion" that I'm kind of spooked about.

Okay, I'm off until next Tuesday, YAAAY! Hope everyone has a Happy New Year!!!

Jeanette

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Hey gals is everyone recovered from the night b/4?:p We actually we're pretty good, just wine at dinner of course as we're staying at winemakers. DH went to bed at 11:30 and I was in bed by 11:45. Jsut didn't seet he point of trying to stay up any longer:p:p We had a long drive here, taking country backroads as no really direct route here. Also we 1st went out for breakfast, then filled up the truck with gas so DH being a good man that he is pops the hood to fill up the wash fluid and I think the band that attaches to the lever to unlock it broke as we couldn't get it back closed again. So drove slowly home transferred everything into the car and of course I needed gas and the tires needed filling. The 1st air pump we pulled up to was frozen so had to drive to another gas station, but finally we were able to get on the road.

Having a lovely visit here. Didn't w/o yesterday but today did B&G-standing legs and abs w/o. Still get a great w/o with out any equipment with that one.

Jeanette - not sure what type of snowshoes I got as I haven't even had time to unbox them. They're the new fangled one that are metal and look like you could almost run with them. Not like the old days with you walk like you have a carrot stuck up you know where:eek:

Kim - I don't feel to bad for you being back at work as you already have a day off:p:p Are you off Friday too?

Okay, will check back in later when I can.

Take care,

Happy New Year Coolers!

Just got done doing Supersets, yes, the whole thing, even most of the lunging scissor things. I'm hoping to get a bike ride in this afternoon if I get some much needed housework done. I need to take this tree down too. It's been such a pretty tree and there's still not a needle that's fallen off of it. I haven't even been putting water in the holder anymore since Christmas, shoot, the dogs just drink it all anyway.

Patricia, your snowshoes sound like mine, LOL about the carrot up your a**! What kind of wine do your friends make? I've made a few batches, it's fun! I see where Cathe answered your rotation question, which is pretty darned cool!!! Did you figure something out with the DVD's that you have?

Kim, I need to pop over and see if Cathe posted a January rotation yet. Did you see where SNM posted a 1rm download so we could see the exercises? Now I have no more excuses.

Gotta jump in the shower and start being productive. Shoot, it'll be noon soon.

Okay, I didn't really promise that I would start cathe's Jan. rotation did I?? I was really going to do it but BM2 now, it's already 4 pm?? Maybe I should wait till tomorrow as I have all day to finish it.

Patricia I'm glad that you finally made it to your friends place. It sounds like you're having fun. We took the kids to a movie last night, Bedtime Stories, and then home so the boys could watch the USA/Canada hockey game. I went to bed at 10, dd was REALLY needing to go to bed and I was tired so we went to bed together and left the boys up. Yes, I'm off Friday too (I always have Fridays off), I can't really complain about my schedule lately.

Jeanette What do you think of the Jan rotation?? I haven't looked at the 1RM thing yet at all. I figured I would do it closer to get STS so could probably go ahead now maybe will look at over the weekend. Enjoy your time off!!!

Just got back from my sister's, we had a birthday lunch for my mom, who turned 65 on Dec 29th. My sisters and I went together and bought her a tv with a dvd/vcr for her cottage. The grandkids will probably use it the most but she will occasionally. I did walk to and from my sisters (20 min walk) so I did get a bit of excercise today. It's almost time to make some supper so I don't have time to do BM2 so will decide whether to do it after supper or wait till the morning to get started.

Happy New Year's! Kim

I did it! Got BM2 done, DH offered to make supper so I could do it this afternoon. Didn't seem as hard as last time. Going to go have supper and then relax this evening. Goodness, are the kids ever grouchy, I think they need to get back into a routine, too many holidays for them
