Constant Joint and muscle problems!

Hey ladies,

I have been dealing with alot of well I would say joint and tendon problems. I first dealt with achilles tendonitis last year and now recently I have dealt with my other foot hurting around the ankle and the same hip bothering me off and on. I have been forced to do low impact and alot of times I won't do anything at all! Dh says the it sounds like my body is depleted from some type of vitamin. He says it is not normal to have so may pains.

I guess I'm asking if anyone has had this problem and if there is some type of vitamin or something to take? I don't know if this is arthritis and if it is, what do I take for it? I am really frustrated with having some sort of pain all of the time!

I appreciate any advice!

Hi Kim,
You might want to try Glucosamine and Chrondroitin (sp?) ... it's a supplement that usually comes together in the same pill. It's supposed to help with joint problems. I've had AT and PF and now some other stuff ... I went to see a podiatrist recently who is trying different orthotics to see if these will alleviate my foot problems. AT and PF are often associated with overuse and if you have any abnormal structural issues, these contribute to the development of AT, PF and other problems also. Often if your foot is misaligned, this can cause problems with your ankles, knees and hips ... like a domino effect. I suggest you make an appointment with a podiatrist ... I wish I had years ago. It is a pain to be in pain and as my primary doctor said when we discussed the referral .. if it's interfering with your life, such as having to modify your exercise routine, including decreasing it and/or avoiding it, then it's time to get it checked out by a specialist. Best of luck, Deb

Hey Deb,

Yes, I have heard of the supplement you are talking about. I read on the bottle one time to take it three times a day. Is that the way it should be taken? And yes I had AT and PF, and it can be frustrating sometimes!

Thank you,

Hey Kim,

I trashed my ankles and my hip from 20 years of running and then training for a marathon. Supposedly because I'm taller (5' 8") it's harder on my joints? Who knows. Anyway, I can't run anymore unless I'm on vacation and have no other options. Too much step hurts my hip, so I try to do more indoor cycling in the winter and use an elliptical to balance out the step workouts.

Anyway, I was taking glucosamine and chrondroitin (sp??) with very minimal relief. Then my mom told me that she started taking Osteo Bi-flex and was able to sleep all the way through the night for the first time in years (she has had one knee replacement and needs another). Then I heard some other people talking about it so I figured I'd try it. BIG difference! I don't know why, but it helps soooo much more. I buy it at Sam's. You are supposed to take 2 a day. I think it took a week or two for me to notice a difference.

Good luck!

Suz

Hi Kim,

The quantity depends upon the dosage of the pill. They come in single, double and triple strength ... you just take fewer pills of the double or triple strength. (Maximum Daily dosage of 1500mg glucosamine and 1200 mg chrondrotin). You can either take them all at once, or space them apart Check at your local pharmacy ... there are various manufacturers and some have other ingredients. They are rather expensive but sometimes you can find sales of buy one, get one free types. Don't expect any results for 3-4 weeks as it takes time to work. Good luck! Deb

I take a supplement from Total Health Enhancement.
They make a product called Hemoxide for overall health and they also have a supplement for joints. I have alot of aches and pains from too many horse related wrecks. I really notice that I feel better overall, have more energy, sleep better at night, and my joints don't hurt. They work of the Nitroxide pathways in our bodies.
Just click on personal health.
They also have a money back guarentee so you can't loose.

I second the podiatrist recommendation. I pulled my AT, then reinjured it doing step too often. Once I got my shoes corrected (and not just my workout shoes...I only now wear shoes that fit me well all day long), it finally healed. It was affecting my AT, my knees, my ankles...very frustrating!

Now I can do step without a problem, though I baby it just in case. It takes too long to recover from those injuries!

I also take GNC's Triflex (glucosamine/chondroitin/MSM). Honestly, I'm not sure that I really notice a difference, but it comes in a chocolate or peanut butter chewy and it's like eating candy twice a day! :9 :)
