Confused about CTX Upper Body weight selection

I have a question about CTX Upper Body. Are you able to use the same weights that Cathe is using in this workout? I ask this because while the highest weight used in any exercise does not exceed 30 lbs, the reps seem a little fast to me. In PUB, Cathe does slower reps when she is lifting 30# or higher but they are fairly fast in CTX. I would love some feedback on this!

Many thanks :)

Sometimes I can keep up. I usually cannot keep up with her in the chest workout though. With a 35 pound barbell, the rep speed is a little fast for me too.

When I do the entire CTX upper body workout tape, I cannot keep up either. It's a surprisingly tough tape to do all the way through.

MHO.

let's see: I think I match Cathe on biceps, sometimes on triceps, never on chest bench presses, but I go heavier than she on flyes because I eliminate the bench presses at the end combo, heavier than Cathe on back, lighter on shoulders. Her 2 sets of military presses with 15's are way out of range for me. I usually do one set at 12's and the second set at 10's.

The good thing about this workout, I find, is that I can grow with it and get stronger. And, I can also play around with it. Well, I play around with all my weight training workouts. I think you have to really, to find what works for you.

For example, on CTX shoulders, Cathe warms up with 16 reps at lighter weight. If I do that, it stops me from being able to lift real heavy on the military presses. So, last week, I eliminated them, and started straight in with 8 military presses at 15 pounders, then a second set with 12's and a third with 10's. I did it all in the same time and count as Cathe did all her stuff, but I just did what I need, which is lift heavy because my sshoulders are puny!

I love the barbell chest presses section, the pace, the changing rhythms, different counts. I find it works the chest really well. That and a load of flyes with 15's and 12's and I am fried. I never do the push ups at the end, I can't pump any out by that stage!!!

So, Faiza, yes it can be very fast. Decide whether you want to keep Cathe's pace and go lighter to keep up, or go heavier on certain exercises and slow the pace to a 2-2 count.

It's your workout, you can do exactly what you want with it!!!

I haven't done this one in a while, which is sad, because I LOVE it. Actually, I know for a fact I lowered the weight in chest, and biceps, but by doing so, I was able to keep up. I did get DOMS a couple of days after doing it.

Some people say, that if you're fit, you should not get DOMS, but I've also read that if you don't get it the day after, but TWO days after your musclular W/O, then you really worked them good. That's what I choose to believe, since I always seem to see results that way, but also because it makes me so aware of my body, accomplishments & goals. Go figure.

Hope I made sense. In other words, I like to feel sore not the next day, but two days after.
