coming back (warning...long!)

I have been working out with Cathe for about 2 years. In June I accepted the no sweets challenge (and won!), but also started walking 4 miles a day with a neighbor. This allowed for no Cathe time.

I have recently fought bronchitis and a bad sinus infection and have decided to stop walking (too early in the morning...5AM and too cold here...20-30 degrees...and too dark outside!!).

I have none of the strength that I had built up from working out with Cathe for so long earlier. My husband is building me a workout room in our basement, and Monday I am back into the groove. I plan to do this month's rotation, since I have most of the workouts.

I have about 20 pounds to lose, and I know that I can do it with Cathe's help, but I am wondering if I should do each workout in its entirety next week, or do some of the shorter premixes instead, to start back into a routine. I don't want to overdo it and then lose my focus from being too sore, tired, etc.

I should also mention that I am still on antibiotics (almost done), and still have some of the bronchitis cough.

What do you think?

I still remember when i first started Cathe stuff! First set I bought was CTX...My first 2 weeks of workouts consisted of weights (which I've been doing for years), the warm up, and ending stretch...My "cardio" days where 2 or 3 warm-ups back to back! LOL!! I was out of breath!

I don't know if I'd jump right into a rotation right now...Start slow...Which videos/DVD's do you have??

My advice is the same. Start slow. This month's rotation is pretty agressive.

I also got into the neighborhood walking group and my fitness level really dropped. Walking is fun, but not as tough as Cathe.

CTX is a great way to ramp up. I ran into the Hardcore series headfirst and ended up wicked sore and miserable and that was a huge setback. I didn't work out for about 2 months after that. Now I am keeping it to the intermediate workouts and CTX. Once in a while I throw in an Intensity Tape like PUB or PLB, but no Boot Camp or anything like that. After a month of holding back I feel more ready to move into an advanced workout or rotation. Good luck!

I would definitely not try for the entire workout at first!!! Maybe try the premixes but if you feel tired then stop. You need to ease into it SLOWLY after bronchitis and a sinus infection. And remember the slower the 20 lbs come off the better off you are...:)...Carole

I have all of the hardcores and I also have PUB/PLB, Bootcamp, Allstep. I have the 2 new ones that are just out. I preordered the new series. I have several more, but I can't think of what I have right now!

I could get through pretty much any of the workouts that I have before I started walking. I think that I will do just as you suggest and maybe just do warmups and a little of each workout, instead of the whole thing.

What I was thinking with the rotation, though, was to follow those DVDs, but in major moderation, just so I would have an idea of what workout to do each day.

Now I am wishing that I never walked all summer and fall :(. I didn't lose or gain any weight, but my fitness level has really dropped! Thanks for the advice! Slow and steady!
