College Graduation Gifts

My nephew is graduating from college this weekend and I was planning to slip a little cash inside a card for him. I don't have children of my own and I really don't know what the going rate is these days. I thought about buying something for him, but he'll be moving away and starting a new job and I'm sure he'd rather have the cash. I'd love to hear some opinions on what you think is a reasonable amount of cash to give a college grad. I'm completey stumped!

TIA

Hi, Michelle. I see you didn't get too many responses. I'm a bit unsure myself, which is why I didn't respond sooner. Last year my niece graduated from high school and my nephew graduated from college, and I gave them each $100. In retrospect, I'm thinking the college graduate should have received more than the high school graduate. Fortunately, they're from different sides of the family and don't talk to each other. ;-) I didn't talk to anyone or ask anyone about the amount, so I could be way off. Also, these kids live in the NY area, which probably has different going rates than other parts of the country.

Hope I didn't confuse you further. :-(

Thanks Gina, Nancy, and Marie. I decided on $100. It just seemed like a nice, rounded figure. I only have 4 nephews and 1 niece on my side of the family and I'm pretty close to them, and that's an amount I can deal with 3 more times--lol!

Michele:)
