College Exercise

step22

I went back to college 3 weeks ago. I really don't want to gain weight from the beer, pizza, etc.
Since I can't do step (no room, thin floors) and there are no 'good' gyms around, I've been running 4 days a week, but can only last for 30-35 minutes because I do a few hill intervals. I also do PS tapes once a week, and maybe a Cathe cardio tape during the weekend. I did spinning for an hour, 4 times a week during the summer though, which was tough, so I'm afraid I'll gain weight.
Any suggestions?

Talk to some coaches...

....in your Phys. Ed. department. I know of a local softball coach who uses Taebo to train her team. Maybe you can talk your way into working out with one of the teams. Of maybe they can point out some equipment that all student can use, like stationary bikes and such. All colleges have weight rooms.

Another option: Our Deb H teaches HiLo at a local church, and you may be able to find a similar situation in your college town. Or, get together with some other students and work out with tapes in some available area at your dorm. Start your own HiLo or Taebo group.

Just a suggestion, take it or leave it

Honeybunch made some great suggestions. Also, just really cutting back on the beer, pizza, late night munchies, etc. will be a big plus. Whenever possible, walk to your classes at a brisk pace. Use stairs whenever possible. Just carrying your napsak full of books around will burn extra calories too. But be sure to wear your napsak centered on your back(as opposed to hanging on one shoulder)so that you don't encourage back problems over time(due to weight being unevenly distributed). Good Luck!
