I was wondering if anyone is taking/cooking with coconut oil. I have heard a lot of good benefits lately. I was wondering if it is worth a try.
Thanks

Hi! I am a firm believer in Virgin Organic Coconut Oil. I have been using it for several years and there is a great resource on it. Go to www.tropicaltraditions.com and you will read all the amazing health benefits to this oil. I have used in in cooking, baking, skincare, heair, etc.... I swear by it!

Also, there is a book by Bruce Fife called The Miracle of Coconut Oil that goes into great detail of this oil and the benefits. You can also try www.coconut-info.com for various testimonies on this oil as well. :)

Thanks for the information. I think I am going to order some. Glad to hear your positive feedback

Hi,
How do you use the oil on your hair? I've heard about it helping hair look shiny for a while, but no details on how it should be used. Thanks!

Strong@heart,
Thanks so much for posting this website...I saw it mentioned about a week ago on another thread and found it very interesting but forgot to bookmark it, so after reading some info, I decided to buy a pint of it to start with and the accompanying book with the recipes!!

I should be getting mine today. Can't wait. My friend uses it in her green tea and in smoothies. I'm kinda worried about the fat content, but they say its good fat?????

Yes, it's good fat. I rub it on my pans before cooking, rather than use one of the spray type oils. Sometimes use it for lip balm, but it can get a little messy for that. Will have to try it as an overnight conditioner...that's a good idea!

Okay, so I got my Organic Coconut Oil from Tropical Traditions yesterday. I put some in my green tea. If anyone has any great receipes please share. Haven't used it in my hair yet. My DH thinks that I have completely gone wacco LOL....

There is a great coconut cook book from amazon.com. Just go into the search engine and look for it. There is also another book on the coconut diet. Better than olive oil I keep reading.
Tropical Traditions is the best place to order. You have to try the cream (not the lotion). I put the unscented cream on at night (its a bit oily for daytime when it is humid here), and it is so nice and smooth going on. No preservatives, 20 letter chemical words, and it feels so nice. Since coconuts fall off the trees here (I live in the tropics), I use it all the time in cooking, baking, snacking, as a hair conditioner. The coconut recipe book has some great things in it. Cheers.
