Clicking for Breast Cancer

Thanks for the link Bobbi.

One of my closest friends is recovering from breast cancer. She is only 31 years old. She is having her cancer free breast removed in December and then will have the reconstructive surgery done for both breasts. The breast where she had the cancer was taken off in May. My heart goes out to all women that are going through this.

Thanks, Dana! We lost a close family friend last year. My thoughts and prayers are with your friend! I think October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I made the Breast Cancer my homepage and I click before I head for the web pretty much every day. I wish your friend all the best! That's alot to go through for one so young. Thanks, for sharing Dana!

Thanks for the link Bobbi. My grandmother got breast cancer at the age of 92!!! I think the disease & the surgery accelerated her altzheimer's tremendously. She's hardly there anymore. Before the cancer she lived alone & had never been seriously ill. It's breaking my heart.

Flip side of the coin, I've had two friends go through radicals in their early 30's. At the same time, same Doctor. They didn't know each other. Weird. I keep thinking, if it's so prevelant in my little circle of friends/family...wow.

Thanks again...it says we can click every day!

That is so awful, Ruth. The friend we lost last year was in her 40's with a teenaged son and she had a free mamogram which detected a small lumb but she waited for nearly two years and it was too long and too late. Get your yearly mamograms!

I made the site my homepage and my browser opens up on it and I make that the first thing I do everyday I log on. The site links up the Hunger Site, the Child Health site, the Animal rescue and the Rain Forest site and when they are all clicked if you scroll down you get the ecology fund site and that's four more clicks. :) Takes less than a minute and if you order off of any of the sites, it adds to your donation. I got my wildlife rehabilitator neice her birthday gifts at the Animal Rescue site and they came with a donation of 28 cups of food for the creatures. Perfect gifts for an animal crazy woman and reasonably priced too! :)

Hey Bobbi: It is indeed Breast Cancer Awareness month. I will also make this my homepage and keep clicking and urge ANYONE AND EVERYONE reading this to do the same. I lost the love of my life to breast cancer in 1997. My beautiful, seemingly healthy husband was diagnosed with breast cancer at 31 years old (all these years later I still shake my head in utter disbelief) and underwent radical mastectomy in 1992. He fought the good fight for 5 years and died Nov. 1/97 (all soul's day) leaving 3 daughters aged 3, 6 and 8 at the time. I know that breast cancer is primarily a women's disease but ask for all to remember the male martyrs as well. Breast cancer is not all 'pink' and my heart (and tear ducts) swells for ALL women and men that have been martyrs for the cure through experimental treatments and clinical trials. WE WILL FIND A CURE!!!!!!!!!!

Absolutely, Laurie! I was unaware that breast cancer affected men until I met a male survivor at the Race for the Cure and I will bear that in mind. I know you must have suffered unbearably and I salute you for your indomitable spirit, your humour and warmth and yes, we will find a cure! In the U.S., we can also support the cause with Breast Cancer Awareness stamps which raise a lot of money and awareness and I encourage everyone to use them. There are so many great causes, it's sad but it's necessary to pick and chose but these are such great ways to help even on a family budget. Thank you for sharing, Laurie. You are an amazing woman.
