~~~~~cLEAN & tidy weekend ~~~~~
Hello!!! Peeps!!
Sorry for late entry, today has been so busy! Looks like everyone is kicking ass today too.
Katie, excellent nap and menu, and workout! I didnt preorder. Hired this crazy Arnold Swartzeneger (sp) guy to kick my butt. My lease favourite clean food...i have to fight down cottage cheese...and eggplant :(
Kate, great workout(S), i especially like the kids one! How does the new room look??? Great job tonight too, i dont know how you resisted pizza! I had salsa tonight, you would be so proud.
Robin, great job yesterday with the chicken teriyaki too, and good workouts/menus. I watched a show on real estate in Queens this morning! How weird is that?
Shirl, enjoy TK!
Colleen, i hope you kick this soon, feel better!! Get some of Robin's ester C stuff! Do you like Glute camp? I watched the clips, not sure though? That or Amy's slo mo legs? What do you think?
Well, its Saturday, so i tend to loosen the strings on my menu's. We had couples counselling today as well, went very well. Next Saturday is my birthday, not sure but it will be unclean and i'm already worrying about it!
Today, workout: 4D HIS/Core, total upper body premix. Neck allowed it, but with some pain killers...that's bad right?
Menu: bad me!
B: the usual
L: homemade mushroom barley soup, carrots/hummus, egg white pancake with yogurt...then the carob raisins and organic malt balls..i ate a bag of them!
s: no snack
d: 1 sweet potato with salsa and cottage cheese, tofu, and soy ice cream
Now, just got into the damn raisins again..get me away!
Going to take the dogs out, need to detox! When i write it down, i guess there are worse binge/cheats, but i hate that i like these damn things so much. I'm sure if i was clean 7 days a week/forever i'd look like a million bucks!
Oh well, there's always tomorrow right?
Steph
Kate - I am here. I am watching the movie Little Miss Sunshine and Violet orders her waffles a la mode and her dad lectures her on being fat. For those of you who have never seen the movie Violet is about 7 years old and the family is driving her to CA for a beauty pageant. She is does not look like someone who would be in a beauty pageant, but she has a lot of determination so this dysfunctional family is driving her to the pageant. It's a good movie if you have never seen it.
For dinner I ended up having WW Pasta with Turkey Meatballs.
Robin, great willpower on the donut.
Kate, congrats on a clean dinner.
Katie, glad you had a great nap - I am so jealous
Shirl - I didn't mean to imply you were a know it all, but just that you have a lot more knowledge than me. I agree with you about the 4DS. I am hoping that I use the premixes a lot to justify the cost of the DVD's.
Still undecided about STS. My biggest hangup today is that I will probably only use them once. But I could pay a personal trainer a lot more to get the same results. DH is laughing at me. He told me just to order them. I must be driving you guys crazy...
Colleen
Hi Everyone,
I'm having a rough day;nothing that I feel like getting into, but I'm happy I have my Cathe checkin buddies. My eating has not been clean or tidy; well some of it has. It stinks that I am such an emotional eater. I need to deal with that. It's what is preventing me from achieving my goals and I deserve to achieve my goals. We're strong, fit, healthy women!
Robin and Kate, please send me some willpower vibes. I need the positive energy.
Katie, a nap sounds divine; especially with a little one snuggled beside you.
Steph, I'm glad the counseling went well. A birthday coming up - I love birthdays!
Colleen, if DH says to order them; go ahead and do it. You might use them a lot more than you think. The type of methods she is planning should bring great results.
Well, my DD wants me to play webkinz with her.
Good night :)
A friend in fitness,
Shirl
Steph, Yuck! I hate cottage cheese too, but I refuse to let it pass my lips - disgusting! I've never had eggplant before. How's Ah-nold doing? Thanks for asking - the room looks great. I'll try to post pics soon. Glad counseling went well - how much longer are you guys going for? Better luck tomorrow on the eats. I've been doing so good - I want a cheat meal (honestly I want dessert) but I'm afraid I won't stop!
Colleen, I've never seen that movie. I hope so much that I raise healthy kids who feel good about themselves.. I worry about this a lot. Yummy dinner for you! C'mon, let us enable you! Order STS! Peer pressure!!!:7
Shirl, Sorry about your hard day. Tape that motto to your fridge; "I deserve to achieve my goals" !Willpower vibes comin' your way! What is Webkinz?
Help me out with Gina guys... She is NOT fat by any means, but her kid tummy is bigger than it used to be. She LOVES to eat. Will eat out of boredom. If we're having something that she really loves, like tacos, she will literally eat double what I do. She wants dessert ALL THE TIME. I feel "mean" saying no although I knwo I'm really doing her a favor. This is how meal time has been playing out lately: She'll make her taco (soft shell, meat (which she would HEAP on in an enormous portion if I let her), low-fat shredded cheese, steamed corn, and a little bit of romaine). She likes to shred it all up and put it into a bowl. She calls it her salad like Mama. She'll be eating it, get about 1/2 way done. She'll ask for more meat even though she already has some in her bowl. I'll tell her "no, you've got to finish your whole bowl first THEN you can get more if you're still hungry." She will finish it w/o too much fuss. None really. Half the time she'll take more and decide 2-3 bites into it that she really is too full to finsh. If I don't take it away IMMEDIATELY she'll pick at it even though she said she's full. And from the look on her face I can tell shes STUFFED. She'll come in the kitchen and take more meat from the pan as I'm cleaning up. I hate having to say "QUIT EATING" but I want her to learn to listen to her hunger/full cues. The kid is breaking my heart. SHe knows eating healthy and working out are extremely important to me, but I don't want to impart that in an unhealthy way. I don't let them see me weigh myself EVER. When they ask why I'm eating dinner differently than the rest of them I tell them becuase it tastes good to me. For instance when we have cheeseburgers for dinner I make them with ground sirloin. I make theirs totally normal, under the broiler. They all eat theirs with cheese and a bun. I use no cheese ann no bun. I crumble mine up and eat it on romaine salad with tomato and onion. I have never ever said I eat this way to stay skinny or because a certain food is "fattening". I stress which nutrients are in the food and what healthy things it does for our bodies. Maybe we need to not serve meals "family style" but rather leave the pots and pans in the kitchen so we would actually have to GO BACK to the kithcen to get more food, instead of grazing while we wait for other family members to finish. And I've really watched this week to pack away the leftovers before Gina comes in to snack on them while I clean up.
One thing BOTH girls do is sneak ice cream! If I get too busy in the office they'll go in the kitchen and get the ice cream from the freezer. On several occasions I'll have come out of the office and they're under the table, happily digging away at a carton of ice cream. I KNOW this is Gina's idea. So I moved all of the i.c. out to the top shelf of the deep freezer in the garage. I keep absolutely no junk food in the house. If we make a sweet treat I keep a small portion for us to eat and the rest goes into the freezer or we give it away.
Sorry to ramble.. I think I feel better just posting this.
Am I doing okay? Anybody else ever deal with this stuff with their kids? Again, sorry for going on so long....thanks for listening
Good morning! Despite getting 6 hours of sleep I feel great this morning! Everybody sleep well?
Unsure of the menu today but it will be something like this:
b - 1 scr.egg, 2 whites, green/red peppers, salsa
s - won't happen - church
l - probably out to eat - grillled chicken salad
s - apple, almonds
d - ????
For breakfast I stayed up late last night preparing this homemade coffee cake for DH (NOT CLEAN). A small piece w/ my eggs wouldn't be the end of the world, but I can't decide if I want a piece or not. I really think I don't. You layer the batter with streusel a couple times - looks good, but I really don't think it's tempting me. We'll see...
w/o - GS Legs. It'll be my 1st time doing it - I'll let you know how it goes. I'm prepared to BURN!}( My lower bod has already been worked pretty thoroughly. Friday was Legs & Glutes, yesterday was 4DS KB. Burn off them buns!
I must say I'm looking forward to using a squat rack in STS. I have one but I've never used it. I also can't wait to be able to do pullups!!! DH can slam them out - I'd love to be able to match him.
Well, enjoy your last day of rest before the week starts up again. Have a great day!
Good morning!!
I'm up early too, took one dog out, will take the other in a bit. Sunday morning is my time, no one awake. I'm going to walk and get the paper, see if i made the cut!
Kate, i was reading about Gina. Its hard with hunger cues. I have a friend with a daughter, and they never use food as a reward, and only have treats for birthdays etc...then when there are treats, she goes crazy! Eats everything in sight. Its never been a no no or off limits, but it still happens. I'm wondering if there is a book out there that could offer some insight. I think kids grow at different rates too. She could be just about to spirt maybe. You are doing a great job.
and i'm sure a piece of coffee cake would be just fine!
I'm getting antsy about STS now, i could never have a squat rack, no room anywhere for that..maybe that's a sign.
Today is my rest day, but i'll do classical stretch. Hopefully can get a nap in too!
BBL
Good Morning!
Quick checkin before workout and church. I slept in this morning. I'm going to do half my workout this morning and the other half this afternoon.
Kate, My DD has quite the appetite too. She's 7 now and I've taught all 3 of my children how to read nutrition labels and how much a serving is, etc, etc,. Well, she'll count how many of something or measure it and thinks it's the greatest thing. It has helped her to stop overeating, as well as, improved her reading, counting and measuring skills. I do have treats in my house. Some days my children eat them, or they go for days witout touching them.
Hi Steph, Enjoy your relaxing day - I hope you get a nap too!
Time to workout! BBL
A friend in fitness,
Shirl
Good Morning Everyone!
I finally ordered STS. I did my research on periodization last night and this morning I woke and decided just to go for it!
Kate, I don't know what to tell you about Gina. She may have the emotional eating gene. Does she tend to have this type of behavior when things are more stressful at home or school? Or is it just all the time?
Steph, I like Amy's Slo-Mo Legs because I feel the burn with less weight. I like Tracey's Glute Camp, but I have to go really heavy to feel the burn.
w/o is SUB and HISM
b: oatmeal
The rest of the day is TBD. Going to the grocery store soon.
Colleen
Thanks gals for your support on Gina. I appreciate it. When I served the coffee cake this AM I made sure that EVERYONE at athe table had their apple slices gone before they could get a piece. And, yes, I had a small slice too. I needed the carbs, right?:p I haven't had a cheat for a while now - the small slice won't hurt.
Steph, Enjoy your stretch and nap! Sounds wonderful!
Shirl, I cna never do just 1/2 a workout - or eat just half of something! I'm an all or nothing kind of person.
Colleen, YAY! Another convert to STS!! I don't notice Gina eating becuase of emotional issues. The girl just like food! WOnder where she gets THAT from!?:p :9 :+ Have fun grocery shoppping!
Robin, Wake uuuuu-uuup!
Katie, You sleepin in'?....or doing something else?}( :7
Hi all,
I'm still here. My week has not been good. The scale is an unfriendly SOBx( ! I've just been having a blah week.
I'm thinking of making this week a Tracey Stahele week. I like alternating between Cathe, Amy and Tracey just to get use of all of my dvds.
I did not preorder and I don't think I'm going to. I just don't think I will use it much. And I want to preorder the 2 new Amy Bento's that she is working on.
I think Slo-Mo legs is my least fav leg workout. I do it but I have to do a lot of modifications to make the workout comfortable.
Kate a webkinz is a stuffed animal and they come with an online code. You put the code online and it then you can create home, your pet goes to work, plays games, buys thing etc. Each animal has thier own code and each month you can purchase a special animal of the month that comes with extra features. My DD loves them. They run about from $11.00 to $15.00 and can be purchased at Hallmark stores or FYE here in NY.
Kate my DD is also they same she eats out of boredom. Luckily she is a pretty muscular child. But I do try to monitor what she eats. I don't forbid her from anything and she likes her fruits(but not her veggies) if she seems to be getting out of control I just tell her if she still hungry later her next snack has to be fruit and no more junk. But she is also a picky eater.
Robin are you ready for the snow? It will be another fun commute tomorrow! Are you a GS leader? DD is a girl scout her troop has been together since kindergarten. The older girls stayed brownies for a year longer so the younger girls could catch up and they could all move to jr's together. It's almost cookie time. Samoas YUM:7
Colleen my week wasn't super busy but just frustrating. I've felt stressed all week there is job bid up that I really want but I don't think I have enough senority to get it. It will get me home earlier and will give me weekends off. The bid comes down tomorrow so I'm just keeping my fingers crossed.
Katie my least fav clean food is Fruit. I have a total aversion to it. I buy it in hopes of forcing it down but it just don't happen. I will eat it if its mixed into something. Blueberries in pancakes, strawberries covered in choc, apples covered in caramel. You get the picture.
Hi Shirl hope today is better than yesterday for you.
Steph glad counseling went well for you and DH.
Today will be cardio and either upper body or lowerbody haven't decided yet. Laundrymax, grocerymax, and cleaningmax. I hope I can fit it all in.:)
Jenn
I finished Upper Body+. The other half of my workout is abs/core+ and practicing for 20-30 minutes to learn a new TK round.
Jenn, My scale is a SOB too, but I'm to blame for that. I hope you get the job.
Colleen, I'm sure STS will be great!
Kate, Your coffee cake sounds yummy. One peice is not going to hurt you.
Hi Robin and Katie!
I better get ready for church.
A friend in fitness,
Shirl
Hey ladies, sorry for being gone so long! We brought Chris's computer this weekend instead of mine, and I don't have the password! I think he does that on purpose so I can't hop on whenever I want!
Last night I talked Chris in to mexican instead of fast food -- I had chicken fajitas! So far so good today -- I had cereal while everyone else ate pancakes (it's easy for me to avoid pancakes)!
Not much time, i'll check in when I can!
Morning ladies, I did sleep in today. I got up at 7:30 WOW that's late for me.
Maybe not you Kate but that streusel coffee cake is temping ME ;-)
I also did GS legs and I have increased my DB weight selections. My legs are still shaking.:) Why do we love pain so much?
Kate my daughter has the same tummy issues and she is 13. I think that it is a good idea to teach kids to read the labels in order to find out how much cal and fat is contained in each snack. This will help them make good choices, like instead of chips they will choose prezels. Is Gina overweight? Does she take vitamins?
Maybe it is just a lack of exercise or a need for an increase in cardio. Kids now-a-days stay inside and play games or are on the computer. This weekend I brought my family AirClimber which is a mini-step machine which comes with 4 workouts. My daughter starting doing this step w/o as soon as we came home yesterday.I want my kids to do cardio because of the stong genetic heart disease that we have in our family.
Colleen YAY you ordered the new series.:D
Enjoy your time Steph I think I need to do that also but I always find something to do around the house :( maybe that is why I get sick so often.
Hey Jenn Amy has new workouts?! :eek: I love her.Yes I'm ready for the snow x(
Great w/o Shirl and let me know what your pastor preached about at church. My pastor talked about the sermon on the mount.
My w/o Air Climber Step 20 minutes and GS legs
b-egg whites and cann. bacon
s-celery and peanut butter
l-?
d- BBQ pork tenderloin and veggies
I starting reading The WH Perfect Body Diet article in Women's health, how is the book Katie? I think that I am carb sentitive.I need to buy that book, but I brought so much stuff (STS) this weekend I better wait.
Jenn, Good to see you! Sorry its been so crazy for you. Hope this week is better. You don't like fruit? Oh man! If anything, I eat TOOM MUCH of it. I could eat it all day long.
Katie, I wish it were east for me to resist pancakes! If I absolutley have to have one when I make them for the fam, I put a banana in it and roll it up like hot dog. No syrup. Lately though the white bred stuff just isn't tempting at all. What a stinker Chris is!
Robin, No, Gina isn't overweight but I know if I let her have free-reign she would be! She does take a multi-vitamin and also a dehydrated veg/fruit chew a few times a day - I actually love them too, we all eat them. Better than any gummy bear you ever ate! I read the carb article in WH too. I know I'm carb-sensitive for sure. Are you going to take their "test"? Great workout today!
Well, my lunch was YUCK! We went to Finley's and I HATE that place but Mike's parents wanted to take us out and that's what they picked. There is almost nothing helathy there and all of it is bland and nasty. (Can you tell I don't like this place?!) I ordered a grilled chicken salad. I had them keep the giant greasy shell (yummmmmm, but so bad) that it gets served in, very light on the cheese, no sour cream or dressing. Basically it was romaine, grilled chicken (which tasted like they nuked it from frozen), a PUNY amount of diced tomato, green onion. I asked for salsa on the side and it was so nasty I almost gagged. Don't you hate when you're not satisfied with what you order? I choked it down and had half a pear and an apple Larabar when we got home. Definetly satisfied now.
At lunch Gina and her 10-yo. cousin were talking about ordering dessert amongst themselves. I acted like I didn't hear. Gina ordered macaroni for lunch and corn. She didn't finsih either one and then asked for dessert. I pointed out that she was too full to finish her "growing foods" so we shouldn't order dessert. She was okay with it. Score one for Mama!
Have a realxing Sunday afternoon! I'm going to go thru the sale ads and plan my week. See ya later!
Jenn, sorry this week hasn't been great. I hope you get the job, but I think knowing whether or not you got it will put your mind at ease.
Katie, DH won't always tell me his screensaver password. I have this strange habit of crashing his computer when I use it. He makes me bring my laptop when we go away.
Kate, sorry about lunch. I hate going somewhere that has no clue what good healthy food is. We have a restaurant here that serves only healthy food (they print the nutritional info on the back of the menu). DH and I would go there more often but it is a expensive for just a quick meal out, and the service isn't always that great.
Steph, did you make the cut?
Robin, Amy has "In the Ring" and "Hi/Lo Kombat" in the works. The presale starts Friday. She also is working on a kettlebell workout but that's through a third party and they have exclusive rights to the presale. I don't think I am going to get that workout because I don't need to get hooked on another piece of fitness equipment right now.
Shirl, are you going to order Amy's workouts - or are you completely done with presales?
Today has been clean and busy. I am trying to get a few hours of relaxation in before my crazy work week starts. I need a vacation!!!!
Colleen
Colleen, Enjoy a relaxing evening - you deserve it!
I just finished GS Legs - OH MY! I am gonna BURN tomorrow night! DOMS, here I come!
