Today is my rest day so I was able to sleep an extra hour. Yea!

Sjeila please give Fabala, Hera & Thucydides (LOL) a kiss, I love kittens. I've read that there may be a link between soy products and cancers, but I'm not sure where I read this.

In the Tosca book she wrote that whole grain pasta is better that whole wheat. Do any of you think whole grain pasta tastes better?
 
Thanks Robin for the encouragement. I don’t really know if wheat pasta tastes better than white. I haven’t eaten white pasta in over a year. Last year I was diagnosed with type II diabetes so I have to watch my carb intake.

I do think that wheat pasta tastes good. I don’t like the Barilla plus pasta it tastes like cardboard but their other products are fine.

It seems like everything is linked to pasta these days. I know they say to much red meat causes cancer, grilling your meat causes cancer,,,,,, and so on.

My grandma smoked for at least 60 years and she didnt die of cancer. My aunt smoked for a year and died of breast cancer.

Back to work for me post RT!!! What a wake up call.
I'm quite busy today, so i will try to check back.

Robin J, Whole grain pasta depending may be even less refined, so lower glycemic index. Cooking pasta only until its barely cooked, Al dente is even better for you.
Try other kinds, ezekial even has a pasta!

Today, all foods a go, the usual!
workout, trying to resume normal activity :)
MIS/GS add ons, plus Bar method, no cardio until tomorrow, had a lot on the weekend!! My foot is also bothering me a bit :(

Now I remember reading in the Clean Diet book that cream of anything has too much fat, I think. The clear soups are better. Soups are even better when you make it yourselve.

Steph Cooking pasta Al dente is a good idea.I'm going to check for whole grain pasta.
 
Good afternoon gals!

Well, the last 2 days my unclean food consisted of a roll yesterday and some banana bread today (which tasted awesome!). But I feel HUGE! My body has so gotten used to not eating that stuff and now ...yuck. Back on track now.

b - kashi, 1/2 slice banana bread
s - had intended fruit but so busy today
l - grilled chicken salad w/ tomato & onion
s - not sure but definetly clean!
d - pizza at in-laws. will be loading up heavy on cut-up veggies & fruit. hopefully no one will notice I don't eat the pizza! I can't stay long because I have a mtg. tonight so I'll take a protein bar and eat that after.

I meant to check and say hello to the clean peeps. I really like the whole grain pastas. Now that I am accustomed to them I find them so much more flavorful.

Today (not super clean but decent):
Bfast: Kashi cereal, tea with a bit of cream and sugar

lunch: Amy's mattar paneer (a frozen dinner but of decent quality) a big salad with terribly bitter greens from the garden x(
green grapes and 42 oz h20

snack: I confess, a .78 oz rice krispie treat bar and all 100 calories were tasty


dinner: is up in the air. It is mom's b-day so maybe a fish fry?

As far as my w/o I don't know if there will be time. I've been nursing a sore throat since my return from the RT (I ran myself ragged all week and paid the price) so I'm thinking it may be a good idea to take it easy.

Steph: I'm glad to know you're back in action after making it home safely.
 
Today:

B - Steelcut oats with bluberries
L - Black bean salad (it was so good yesterday I had to make some more!), cherries, chocolate soymilk
D - Pesto & tomato pasta, all-fruit trail mix & probably a smoothie

Somehow I kinked my neck really badly at work, it was hard just to drive home, so a workout is looking very unlikely & I'll have to make this a short post today. I hope everyone else is doing better than I am!
 
Late check in today!
I am finally feeling better today! Finally after 5 days!
I did B&G, but took it easy on the squats with the barbell and replaced them with lunges.
b-yogurt smoothie
s-yogurt smoothie
l-sushi with brown rice
d-sweet potato with a little olive oil and salt

I really am sick of eating all of these carbs!

Beavs-what kind of tea do you drink?

I made it back in good old Canada, miss the Dunkin donuts though :)

Hi Everyone

Posting late today because my day was just crazy. I had back to back meetings and when I had five minutes at my desk I was so overwhelmed I couldn't think. Anyway, I am exhausted but I wanted to check in. Here's what I had:

b- shredded wheat w/ skim milk & almonds
l - salmon with wheat pilaf & veggies
s- grapes
d - organic pizza w/ lowfat cheese from a place called Z Pizza.

Robin - I never had whole grain pasta. I usually eat Barilla Plus when I eat pasta.
 
Swk18 - So sorry about your neck. I've been there - ever try a chiro? I love mine.

Beavs - Your comment on the Rice Krispy treat cracked me up. Sorry about your sore throat. I bet the scratchy RK treat felt good going down!

I did great today! I amanged to avoid the pizza at my in-laws without being noticed! Hurray! Although my MIL came up to me and said "Did you eat? You're too skinny...." FYI - skinny in their family is being only 50 lbs. overweight! grrrr
