Clean eating treat, what's better?

treats

Hi,

Everyone's definition of a treat is different. My family always looks at something that resembles a sweet and the first words out of their mouths are, "Is this healthy?" Many times I've tried to create a 'healthy' treat only to have it fall flat on it's face for taste and satisfaction.

Now, if I'm really craving something other than clean and healthy, then I just eat it and forget it. My usual choice is sugary and low fat and I have a delicious chocolate cake recipe that is low fat and quite tasty. If I do make something, the family still asks though, because they've been tricked too many times into believing a treat may actually be a treat.

not sure what type of treats you mean... comparing peanut butter frozen yogurt to high fat cheese... peanut butter has fat anyway- the peanut butter frozen yogurt can have as much fat as the cheese. portions and calories are also to consider...

if there are equal calories in the high fat/no sugar and the nonfat/high sugar one, I'd go with the higher fat version. fat makes things taste good and the high sugar choice can cause a blood sugar rise and trigger more cravings. the high fat choice will also leave me feeling fuller longer.

I agree with go with the fat. I have found that if I have a 1/2 C of a high fat ice cream that is it. I am not wanting more. But if I have a lowfat one I keep going back to that container and eating more. The fat is what satisfies you. Low fat hi sugar just raises your blood sugar level and when it crashes you are off in search of something else to eat.
