Clean eating treat, what's better?

If one just has to have it, what is better as a treat in the world of clean eating, would it be a non fat sugar treat or a high fat non sugar treat?

Thank you

The high fat high sugar, but just a little bit and sit and savor it. Don't pop it in your mouth in front of the tv, just sit still and savor your one bite. It will kill the craving, rather than trying to eat the substitute and still wanting the real thing.

Sometimes I try to eat a piece of fruit and then go do something else to get my mind off of it, but if I can't stop thinking about it, I get a tiny--but real--portion of what I really want.

Personally - I would go for sugar/low fat over high fat/low sugar just because that is what I normally crave and fat is so calorie dense.

I think you just have to go with what will satisfy you and keep it to a resonable portion size.

If it is a healthy fat like nuts or avocado, the high fat is better.
Low fat high sugar in the case of fruit (melons, bananas) is good too.

I guess it really depends on the treat? Anything processed is going to be less healthy no matter what.

What's wrong with just letting yourself have the occasional treat(not going over board) and not worrying about what's in it?

Maybe you could eat whatever you wanted and then take an Alli pill? Sorry, I couldn't resist! :) They do say laughter is the best medicine...

make your own

Ok, thats not a helpful answer. My favorite cleanish treat is whole wheat brownies made with organic sugar and coconut oil instead of butter. I use Guitard chocolate chips (no corn syrup) and they are tasty. Not a great way to get thin but probably won't make you gain either. Unless you eat the whole thing.:p

RapidBreath, I guess what we were trying to provide the OP was a tinge of reality. Everybody CRAVES a treat now and then. If you don't eat the whole container...who cares? I think some people spend so much time replacing their once in a while treats with all of these weird concoctions, we forget the definition of a treat. :) I am truly not trying to be an ass here, but I know there are a lot of young women who spend too much time worrying about an Oreo here and there. This kind of worrying IMHO is the lead in to an eating disorder. What's next taking laxatives or barfing up your favorite treat?

For example, peanut butter non fat frozen yogurt or high fat cheese?

Either one would be fine. Both sound satisfying and nutritious. However fake sugars aren't very good for the body, and can continue the craving cycle.

My favorite occassional treat is chocolate dipped strawberries, with Valrhona chocolate. yummmy. But when we dine out, I often order the cheese tray for dessert.:)

Neither are that good, IMO. Why do 'treats' have to be bad?

Natural fats (from nuts, for example) and natural sugars (from fruits) are far better than processed fats (from oils) and white sugar, so if you want something high in 'sugar,' try fruit (fresh raspberries and chopped mangos, with a swirl of agave nectar, for example). If you want something fatty, go for nuts or nut butters.
