Clean Eating Thurs June7

OK...got my motivation to continue on strong. I stepped on the scale and it's 3.2 down from last week. I wanted to HUG and KISS that scale! LOL. But I settled for a nice wide grin and a pat on the back! lol That's 6.2 down since I started with this clean eating check in. And only 8.8 till my goal weight! ROCKIN'!

Hi, Everyone!

My little oopsie first:
I had 2 pieces of chocolate (my kids had given them to me as a gift a few days ago)last night. (yeah, I'm in that pms-group too). However, I'm trying to look at it positively. That's less than I would usually eat at one time. Plus, the past entire week has been so much better than my usual.

I've been running errands all day. Thankfully there was still leftover vegetable chili waiting for me when I got home because I was later than expected and starving! Breakfast was yogurt with berries, snack was nuts and a peach. Veggie and chicken wraps will have to do for tonight. DS has baseball again.

Gayle -glad to hear that all your hard work is paying off!

Valerie - hope your dentist appt went well.

Ladies -We all know that trying to control cravings during PMS is so tough! Please don't feel like frauds! Stay with us or come back anytime.

Patty

Hi again ladies.

Great going Gayle!

Patty, I don't think 2 little pieces of chocolate will hurt anything with the great week you've had.

Sounds like everyone else is having a relatively clean day today too so kudos to the rest of you too.

So far so good for me today. At lunch, I ended up with a chef's salad with balsamic vinegar & a little bit of olive oil for the dressing. I know some of the ingredients in the salad probably weren't "clean" by definition (other than greens & veggies, the salad contained ham, turkey, & cheddar cheese) but at the same time, I think it was a good choice, considering that their black bean nachos are so good & I avoided getting them! For a snack, I just got finished with a nectarine & some lowfat cottage cheese. So now I just need to try & stay on track for supper. I think we'll have something on the grill so I'm sure we can keep it clean. I'll let you all know tomorrow.

Like Tneah said, the week is almost over so let's keep going!

I just wanted to thank everyone for the moral support. I don't even want to tell you what I've eaten today. I feel out of control. If PMS doesn't end soon, I can't be held responsible for my actions.

I'll try to ride this out, but I won't be posting my food choices. Ugh. I feel ashamed.

At least I'm still sort of working out kind of... even though it's the last thing I want to do.

Late checkin' in, but here's been my day so far. I'm finding myself in a food funk, but it's what sounds good to me!

Liquids ~ 90 oz water, cup of coffee

Breakfast ~ Usual oatmeal, light activia yogurt

Snack ~ Mochaccino protein shake w/ light soymilk

Lunch ~ Chicken breast w/ salad & light vinaigrette, california veggies, and some yummy cantelope.

Snack ~ Usual oatmeal

Dinner will be ~ Leftover taco salad- lettuce, lean meat, FF refried & black beans, tomatoes, salsa, etc.

Shelley,

We all have our ups and downs. If it wasn't so difficult, we wouldn't have this check-in. It would be easy enough to do ourselves! I think it helps that we can see that everyone messes up. I know my working out has not been stellar. I also know that I won't be eating totally clean soon.

Anyway, ride it out. All of us are going to have our PMS time soon!!!

That is great Gayle, good for you. How come I feel like I might have GAINED weight? I feel like I might be thinking about food too much, or my meals are bigger than usual, or I am eating more than I normally do? Geez, I am going to weigh myself tomorrow and see whats up. My upper thighs and the sides of my waist feel "puffy" and gross today. Sigh. Oh well, tomorrow is another day.

You all are doing super, and welcome back Shelley!

Shelley, stay with us!!

My day started out well, but I just came home starving and had 2 bowls of raisin bran. I guess it could've been worse! Here's the rest of the day.
B - oatmeal/soymilk
S - banana
L - saladw/ cottage cheese/ apple
S - almonds
You know dinner.
I'm guessing that I'll have some more fruit after I get home from the grocery store.

Kel, I've been eating red delicious and granny smith apples. We don't have a ton of variety here. I do like Galas, but the family doesn't. I've heard good things about Pink Ladies. Ever heard of 'em?

What is Ezekiel bread? Many people have mentioned it.

Tneah,

I don't feel like I've lost any weight, either. I started to get discouraged, so I got on the scale when I got home from work and I weighed the same as I did the last time I weighed myself (I think it was last Friday). I shouldn't weigh myself in the afternoon. Oh well. I just thought it would feel like my clothes were bigger or something. I do think I am noticing that my body fat might be a little less. It seems like I might be more defined. Then again, who knows, because before this I didn't pay attention and hardly ever weighed myself! To top it off, I feel like I might be coming down with something (or overtraining...sore joints, sore muscles, etc.), so that doesn't make me feel good. Although, because I feel like crap, it makes me not want to eat junk (or anything else). I'm just frustrated right now. I think I need to take some real time off from working out but I know that will make me feel bad. Ugh!!!

From the company's website (www.foodforlife.com):

Ezekiel 4:9® Organic Sprouted Whole Grain Products are inspired by the Holy Scripture verse: "Take also unto thee Wheat, and Barley, and beans, and lentils, and millet, and Spelt, and put them in one vessel, and make bread of it..."Ez 4:9

We discovered when these six grains and legumes are sprouted and combined, an amazing thing happens. A complete protein is created that closely parallels the protein found in milk and eggs. In fact, the protein quality is so high, that it is 84.3% as efficient as the highest recognized source of protein, containing all 9 essential amino acids. There are 18 amino acids present in this unique bread - from all vegetable sources - naturally balanced in nature.

Ezekiel 4:9® Bread, made from freshly sprouted organically grown grains, is naturally flavorful and bursting with nutrients. Rich in protein, vitamins, minerals and natural fiber with no added fat. Try it served warm to release its exceptionally rich nutty flavor.

This Biblical Bread is Truly the Staff of Life

Tosca Reno mentions it in her book and I went out and got some. Both DF and I really like it. It's hearty and has a great flavor. I also bought the Ezekiel wraps.

OK, for dinner it was the taco salad & then had some fruit- strawberries, kiwi, pineapple, and cantaloupe. (I know I spelled it wrong earlier! ;) )

Snack later ~ SF hot cocoa, my usual evening treat!

Lorie,
I know exactly how you feel! Not that I thought I would lose any weight-I stay the same no matter what the heck I do basically, unless of course I go off the deep end and pick at everything in sight for months at a time. Last time I checked my bodyfat ranges between 17-20 percent, I am 5'7' and weigh between 149-152 and wear a size 6/29 jean-in most brands.I never tell anyone my weight or anything,so that was hard. Everyone weighs so little, it just seems like alot sometimes...
I am pretty muscular and compact, but have started noticing bodyfat creeping around my waistline which is upsetting to me, never been a problem area.

I thought at the least, skipping the sugar would help with that. Oh dear, they say its not rocket science, but sometimes I feel like it is!

So lets not weigh ourselves or try on our tightest pair of jeans (yes, I was trying on different items of clothing this afternoon x( and do it all in the AM after using the bathroom!:7

And at the end of the day, clean eating isn't just about losing body fat, its about being healthy.:+ And I hope I didn't sound like a total shallow person admitting all of that.

Tneah,

I feel the same way you do (so call me shallow!). I thought, that with the enormous amount of sugar and chocolate I consume, that alone would make the scale lower. On top of that, I am eating healthier than I think I ever have.

But, you are right, it is a lifestyle. I just hate working THIS hard and not seeing results!!!

Ok guys, you need to relax a little bit. We are barely one week into this and what do they say, and what did Hadrien say about Rome, "Brick by brick my citizens, brick by brick", Rome wasn't built in a day :)

We all are sooooo focused on fast weightloss through all those fad diets claiming 15 lbs in 15 days (mostly water weight IMO) that we lose track of the fact that our bodies need to adjust and eating healthy we won't be dropping weight in a week. Because after all, it is fatloss that we are all after - not a number on the scale caused by temporary water weightloss, right?

You may even be retaining water because of your body adjusting to the different eating. Additionally, when we start drinking more water, at first the body retains more water, meaning more weight on the scale and a feeling of being "puffy".

On a different note, I did well today

B Peanutbutter on WW Bread plus banana
S Fruit w/ yogurt and flaxseed
L Caribbean Cobb Salad
S skipped - ran out of time
D WW Pasta with salmon and broccoli

And the absolute weird thing, after all my excess with the beer and the McD food yester and my lousy eating the day before and NO exercise since Monday, I dropped 1.2 lbs. Maybe I should be writing a book "the McD and beer diet" }(

Just breathe in and out, you guys are doing great :)

Thanks sweetie, I really appreciate your common sense. There are times when I have none, thanks for checking me. You are very right on, it does take time, and patience and hard work.:7

Oh, way to go with the loss!:D :D

Thanks, but unlike you I have a LOT to lose!!! And it never goes fast enough for me either :) I am probably also a product of all those miracle diet promises.

It's funny sometimes I eat all perfect and exercise like a champion without fail and NOTHING moves for weeks, then I fall off track, no exercise and junk, and voila the weight starts coming off again. It sure sends the wrong message doesn't it.

But I think sometimes we get so wrapped up and focused that our body says, hey, wait a minute I am not putting up with this nonsense :)

I say, let's just keep eating clean and exercise, and just enjoy the journey.

Have a great evening!

Carola

Carola,

Thanks for being the voice of reason. You are so right! I just needed a little reality check. :)

I have only been doing this since the Tuesday after Memorial Day and I realize that's probably not enough time for my body to get used to it or to see any "real" changes in my weight (as opposed to water weight). To be honest, I really don't need to lose wieght (I am 5'3 and 112), but I thought with all this hard work and eaating clean I would lose a few pounds.

Anyway, thanks for the gut check! :)
