Clean Eating Challenge Check-In - November 1, 2005

Okay, folks, as a result of some threads last week, I'm loathe to call this a "No *fill in the blank* Challenge";) So I'm calling it a clean eating challenge.

I'll try to post a check-in every day, but if you don't see it and are participating, please feel free to post one.

So, here's the deal. I'm not trying to eliminate any one group totally, but I really do need to clean up my act. So I'm drastically limiting some things, including sugar. Should be fun with all the Hallowe'en crap floating around my house.

My menu for today is:

B - cup of high fibre cereal with banana and soy milk
S - apple and almonds
L - lentil soup and salad
S - cottage cheese and pineapple
D - homemade bean burger and baked sweet potato and veggies

I'm also trying to fit in my 64 oz of water a day, because I've been slacking on that.

Anyone wanna join in?
 
I'll join in, Shelley. This time of year is so hard for me because all of my favorite treats show up in the grocery store--apple and pumpkin breads and muffins come to mind.

I don't have a menu planned for the day yet but my breakfast consisted of steel cut oatmeal with chopped apple, cinnamon, and walnuts. My mis morning snack will be ff/sf yogurt.

Thanks for starting the challenge--I really need it this month :eek: ;)

Hi there, I'd like to join ya! I think this is a good idea so that it helps to keep anyone who's doing the clean eating week stay on track better. Here's mine:

B-2 veggie sausages with oatmeal
L-a turkey sandwich with tomato
S-string cheese with an apple
D-a chicken breast half with steamed broccoli

There's my meal plan for the day. It's not much, but it's what it is! lol:9

YAY!!! i'm in:D i too have been slacking on my water intake and have promised myself to work on that this month! Damn the trips tp the bathroom:D


b-whole wheat toast with pb
l-grilled ckn taco salad minus the shell
d-ground turkey chili with brown rice

snacks- protein bar and apple

B - 1 cup plain yogurt
1 cup Kashi Cinna Raisin Crunch
coffee

Sn - sweet potato protein smoothie

Ln - Southwest chicken tortilla
1/2 cup cottage cheese
1/2 Lg apple

Will fill in the rest of the day when I take a lunch break.....
 
I am going to try this again...not so good at keeping with it. I really want to cut back on sugar drastically. I have very little will power so things like this are so hard. I went yesterday without it until i had those few bites of ice cream. Today is a new day and I am going to try again. You all seem to be able to do these things so easy...I am going to look like a failure but I will post all those failings this time instead of backing out.

EASILY? You've got to be kidding. The one time I managed to do the no sweets thing, I had the cookies in my HAND many times, but then I thought about having to come and report to these ladies and I put them back:)

It's not easy for any of us, but you can do it! And if you slip once or twice, that's fine. Just try cutting back to start with, not eliminating entirely.
 
I would like to join. I know this is the one thing holding me back from losing the weight, and its going to be hard because I have lots of halloween candy left.

Today I plan on eating:

b - Whey protein shake
S - banana
L - Tuna salad on wheat roll
s - celery stalk w/ peanut butter
d - Grilled chicken salad

B- 3 warmed corn tortillas with 1 cup shredded chicken breast & peach mango salsa.
L- chicken breast, small sweet potato, sauteed spinach
D-?
S- blueberry smoothie

So far I've had 9 cups of coffee with creamer & 1 diet coke but I woke up around 10:00AM.

B-protein/vitamin shake with 1/2 bannana & strawberries
S-2 whole grain crackers w/ Laughing Cow cheese, grapes & almonds
L-1 cup ground turkey w/tomato over 1 cup spaghetti squash, pear
S-1/4 cup cottage cheese w/walnuts spread on apple
S-sugar snap peas w/2 tbs hummus
D-chicken breast, roasted vegies (edamame, corn, gr beans, zucchini, squash, and carrots w/olive oil)
S-yogurt

Hi Everyone,

This challenge could be just what I need to help me lose some weight.

meal 1-protein shake
meal 2-egg whites w/peppers & 1/2 tomato, 2/3 C oatmeal
meal 3-4.5 oz turkey, apple w/natural pb
meal 4-green salad w/veggies & 2 cans tuna
meal 5-chicken breast & veggies
meal 6-protein shake

What a great way to start the month.

Yay! I am so happy this is here! I really want to eat well for the whole month with small treats built in every day. Other than that I go on horrible binges. So today is day one for me.

B- 3/4 cup Kashi, 1/2 cup of milk, 1/2 cup of organic cherry juice
S- 1/2 cup of organic cherry juice, sauteed baby green in 1 tbs of EVOO, 1 cup of yogurt, 1 apple
L- Salad with baby carrots, red onion, radishes, and one whole wheat grilled cheese sandwich
S- 2 celery sticks with 2 tbsp of peanut butter 1/2 cup of lowfat cottage cheese
D 3 oz. grilled rosemary chicken breast, one baked potato (small), sauteed zucchini
S- 1/2 cup of ice cream and 1 protein shake

Thank you Shelley. I have wanted to join one of these challenges for a long time, but I always hated to come in halfway, or they didn't fit what I had in mind. This sounds flexible enough for me, and yet gives me someone (someones) to be accountable to.

B-cereal with light soy milk, banana
L-2 slices hard salami, lettuce on 2 slices whole wheat bread
carrots and berry tomatos, grapes
S-not sure yet but probably friut
D-again, not sure, but probably soup and/or salad (DH works late and I don't have to cook for DS who likes a Healthy Choice dinner)
 
I had a large bowl of vegetable beef soup for lunch. I still don't know about dinner. This is an early night for DH so we sometimes go out to dinner on Tuesdays. If we do I'll keep it to lean meat, veg and salad. I'll forgo appetizers and dessert.

Okay in addition to what I posted ^^ through lunch...

p.m. sn - 1/2 cup plain yogurt and that other 1/2 of the apple

Dn - Sauteed chicken with chardonnay sauce
Ginger Orange butternut squash
Large salad with light dressing

Third day back on track. I despite PMS'ing and tortilla chips (actually I have a love/hate relationship with tortilla chips!):p
 
Okay, I need to join this thread. My eating has been horrible the past few months. Let's say that my favorite food is a MILK SHAKE!!! Darn those things will be the death of me! I have joined other clean eating threads and bowed out because I would mess up in a day or two. Crazy right? So I will try this again and hopefully lose some pounds. I need to lose ten or fifteen.


Can't record what I ate today because you wouldn't want to know! I will start tomorrow!

I know I can do this, since I did it for the entire month of June (2 small cheats).

I just ate a S'Mores bar, a TollHouse candy bar and a Reese's PB cup while reading this thread, though :( (all bite sized stolen from my kids' goodie buckets).

I will try for the rest of the day, though. And tomorrow, and the next day...

I need to go back and read what y'all have been eating, because I am very UNcreative and I don't like fruits or vegetables (sigh! I know! I keep trying, but I just can't choke 'em down!!)
