Nikki, thanks for this great idea. I didn't get in on your first post about it, so I will jump in now to tell you I'm doing this with you today. My goal for the day is to indulge in absolutely NO NIBBLES!!!!! I am eating healthily at this time, but will cheat by having little tastes of this, nibbles of that...a sliver of the brownies I'm cutting for the kids...some nibbles of their mac & cheese that they leave leftover on their plates...that kind of thing. Today, NO NIBBLES!!!!
Nikki, you can do this! Hang in there and be strong! :)

Hi,
I think this is a great idea. I am joining in today also. My challenge is I have three teenagers who eat all things at all times. I am always helping them in the kitchen, and then its so
hard not to have a little of this etc. I was looking for something to get me back on track. Good luck to everybody.

I almost without thinking ate a donut. HA, I didn't after I remembered my goal. I looked a little funny at work talking myself out of it. Okay made it past the free donuts. Bring it on I can make it through one day. So can all of you!!

Keep on Keeping on!!!!

Nikki

I'm in this with you guys. I usually don't have a problem until I get home from work, so my challenge will be not to scarf down junk while I'm waiting for dinner. Another challenge will be to not join in when my family is eating ice cream for dessert. Maybe I can start cleaning up the kitchen at that point.

Oh, I started yesterday as soon as I saw the post!!!

That's okay I'm better prepared for today anyway. Brought more fruit, veggies, tuna etc. to work with me.

We CAN do this!!!!! I sooooo excited this is day 2 for me!!!

RE: Oh, I started yesterday as soon as I saw the post!!!

well i drank my water.. doesnt sound like much of an accomplishent!!
now i have to try to eat a good dinner...thats the hard part for me ...all i want is strawberries and watermelon!!

YOu know, its a month since my birthday and i still havent had my birthday cake yet!! i want the whole bunch of you to challenge me to go eat one piece of cake and enjoy it guilt free!!

I never turn down a good challenge....

This was tough. Wouldn't you know that there would be doughnuts at work this morning AND that I'd be saddled with a big, urgent project that forced me to work late? The vending machine was calling me..... Fortunately, I thought of all of you and resisted.

However, I confess that those quasi-health bars (Luna, Go Lean, and the like) are life savers. If I simply must have something sweet - like this morning when I kept passing the colorful array of doughnuts - at least I feel I'm getting something good, some soy, flax, fiber or whatever. I don't kid myself; it's not like eating broccoli. But we all have room for improvement!

I think I made it through today!

I drank 8 8oz glasses of water. I know how you felt about the donuts cherylnb, I passed on them too when I thought of all of you. I had 2 fruit & 3 veggies. I didn't have one sweet treat. I can't believe I actually made it today. This challege helped a great deal in reminding me my goal.

Great Job cherylnb on passing up the donuts!! It is hard to pass on those free donuts when all your co-workers are saying "come on one won't kill ya."

I am anxious to hear from the rest of you. Do you think we should try a 3 day challenge next week? I am up for it, how about everyone else?

RE: Oh, I started yesterday as soon as I saw the post!!!

Well, it's bedtime and I made it through another day. I feel soooo much better. I eat rather healthy anyway but just eat too much but I did very well today. Yea me!!

I'm very happy that so many are joining in. The eating part is very important as you all know. We seem to have the exercise part licked for the most part but that eating...well, everything just tastes so good!

Anyway, hope everyone does as well tomorrow!!!!!

The funny thing is, I forgot all about the challenge, but I ate clean all day! I don't have to push myself to drink water anymore, so that was ok. For some reason, I could not get on this Forum today...front door, back door, nothing worked. So when I started thinking about what I might be missing, that's when I remembered the Challenge. I was quite startled to realize I had met the challenge anyway. I guess it was there in my subconcious...
I'm very happy about this & would really like to continue...who's up for it? :)

I made through the day without sugar, my biggest downfall. We didnt have dinner until 8:00pm, so the hardest time was after work until then. I kept thinking of you guys doing this and I
wanted to feel good this morning. Thanks, here goes day two.

Hi Everyone,
Looks like so far everyone did well. I had a lemon crumb cake sitting out at work. I did not succomb to it. YEA!!

I did well (for my goals anyway). I had a Kashi GoLean bar for breakfast (as usual). These are high and fiber and use cane juice instead of corn syrup, etc. I had fruits and low fat string cheese for snacks, Tuna on whole grain bread for lunch, a small pork chop (fat trimmed) with broccoli for dinner. A good day. That makes two good days for me.
Ruth,
I do want to continue.
I will try and do my best today and this weekend, but since I am out of town till next Thursday I'm not sure how easy that will be. After that I know I can get back on track, especially with the support from everyone here.

Nikki,
I'm glad to see this! My husband, sister and I have been on a clean diet going on 6 weeks now. It's not only clean, but it eliminates four, sugar, processed foods, fruit, salt, oils and milk. This is only done in 4 week rotations and ONLY until you reach your goal weight. Then you can add back in healthy choices such as fruits and low fat dairy. I really feel great. It's helped my joint pain, those "morning" eyes and it's increased my energy level. This rotation we get to cheat one day a week. Yippee! After a long weekend of rock climbing my butt off, I'm going to have a huge dinner of pasta and some really good German beer!
Good luck to all on eating clean!!!!!

Nikki,

Thanks for this great idea! And yesterday was the perfect day for me to start because I had to fast for 12 hours because I was having bloodwork done this morning. I knew if I made it through most of the day "clean" I'd make it the rest of the evening! And I did it!! Now, it's onto Day 2. Thanks again for the encouragement and inspiration!

Count me in too! I love to read books about diets. Most recently I've read the Okinawa Program and Dr. Weil'sEating Well for Optimum Health. But! I have been eating junk, candy bars, ice cream bars! It's like someone else is in control. What the heck, it's just an ice cream bar, right? Wrong! This is just what I need. Nikki, you're brilliant!

Needed a bye for our first round since we had a celebratory dinner with friends. So very clean eating until dinner, then I indulged modestly. Actually a challenge not to dig deep into the chips & guacamole since dinner wasn't ready until nearly 9 p.m. But sat down away from the nosh & kept drinking water.

Not to be a ***tch, but WHAT DID EVERYONE EAT TO EAT CLEAN???? I am BEGGING all of you for more info on "clean" meals, please don't make me plead.....I try to eat clean 5 days a week, her is what I ate yesterday:

Breakfast: 1C Wheat Bran Flakes, 3/4C Skim Milk, 1/8C raisins

Lunch: 1 can tuna (in water, drained), 1/2 celery stalk, 1
Tbs. mayo, 1 tsp. mustard in 1 wheat pita and 1/2 a
medium tomato

Snack: 1/2C part-skim cottage cheese, 1 small cucumber

Dinner: 1C cooked pasta, 1 Tbs. olive oil, 1/2 medium
tomato, 2 Tbs. Parmesan cheese and garlic powder.

Almost a complete gallon of water. : ) : )

RE: Clean Eating Challege, check-in

What a great challenge for us all! Thursday and today was pretty clean for me. I did drink most of the water I aimed for. My only real downfall was the "bit" of peanut butter cookie I ate yesterday and today. Otherwise I ate fruits/vegs,and whole wheat crackers for snacks, cottage cheese and fruit for lunch, lean meats and vegs. for dinner, and no fat/sugar-free yogurt or pudding for the evening snack.

About two months ago I started to keep track of my food intake on a web-site called fitday.com and it has really opened my eyes. So I have really been trying to eat clean for a while. But we all know it is so hard with so many temptations surrounding all of us at home and at work.

What is everyone doing for the weekend? Those are usually the hardest for me. I will aim to eat as clean as possible and always keep this dchallenge on the back of my mind.

Have a great weekend everyone!!

Alright everyone, I am new around here although I have been lurking for a while and have done a few recent posts. I did really well today on the most part ( 7/20...I got a bit of a slow start). Had lots of healthy protein as well as fruit and even some spinach at two meals. my only downfall was those three little bit-o-honeys out of my desk at school while I was working today. ( the curse of being a teacher..too much candy).
But I figured if I actually vowed on here to join in, I would be a lot better. I got you guys checking on things.
BTW...I love getting a chance to join this forum and learn so much from you all. Thanks. enough rambling
