Clean and Tidy July 19

pwmatt

Cathlete
Starting out with oatmeal and half a banana

S - orange
L - mixed veggies, watermelon, mix of toms, shrooms and carrots
S - almonds
D - don't know yet

I made the adobe pork chops in Tosca's book the other night. The family liked'em, but I thought they were too spicy. Noone cared for the bean, tomatoe stuff on top. So, don't think I'll do them again.

Welcome to all the newcomers! I love reading new ideas! Bring'em on!

Have a good day!

Hi Phyllis and all who follow. I didn't workout yesterday :-( after my errands took so long.
Today I am hoping for the best since I may go an outdoor concert tonight and have to eat there.

B: Kashi with milk, tea with cream and sugar
S: cantaloupe
L: leftover turkey tacos and black bean soup, salad greens
S: carrots with a bit of hummus
D: TBD

Yesterday I slipped up and had a package of Famous Amos chocolate chip cookies. I bought the 100 calorie pack cookies and will keep them in my office. They aren't exactly clean but the next time I get an overwhelming hankering for a sweet treat I can limit my damage ;-)

Hey Everyone...I'm going to make this quick b/c my boss is running around...inspection time

B- Kashi cereal, milk
S- peanuts 1/4 cup
L- turkey sandwish on whole wheat
S- banana (i've been having leg cramps lately)
D-??

This morning I did KPC-LG (kickbox drills, standing leg work plus abs.

This is from yesterday but I posted late and it kind of got lost in the middle of all the posts so I thought I'd copy this part of my post again...

Hi everyone!
Thanks for all the nice welcomes! I have to confess that I've never participated in a check-in like this before and it's going to take me a while to catch on to addressing individuals in my posts...(how do you all keep track of everyone in your answers - I'm amazed and impressed!).
I think Robin asked me how the steel-cut oats taste but I haven't tried them yet. I'm still working on my supply of instant honey-nut oatmeal (not clean but yummy). I'll let you know when I try them!

Elaine, I know exactly where your town is. My parents used to take us to Willard Brook when I was little. I believe that's in the next town over from you (?)

Jess, I'm impressed with your pancake recipe. Do your girls eat all this clean and tidy food too? If so, good for you! I wish I had gotten on this kick when my boys were young. They're teenagers now and I don't want to tell you the kind of junk they eat!

Today:
B- oatmeal with fresh blueberries
s- egg whites
L-salad with salsalito turkey
s- grapefruit and string cheese
d- boca burger with veggies on the side (maybe roasted cauliflower - I love the recipe from cooking light!)

I'm still sore from Tuesday's B&G leg blast premix! Did PUB yesterday and now I'm sore ALL OVER! I'm going to tough it out and do a 3.5 mile run...just can't go another day without cardio (I get crabby)!

Happy eating to all!

Beays wrote "100 calorie pack cookies and will keep them in my office" I think that is what I'm going to do also because in our hospital's canteen they only have large sizes of snack and no fruit.
I believe if you have a strong craving for something...chocolate...you should have a small amount. This helps me to stay on my eating plan.

What happens to me at night? I try to eat my last snack at 7:30 pm. I'm like a crazy woman with the snacks. Last night while watching All My Children...I planned to have a cup of popcorn...instead I ate the whole thing. :( :(

Can any of you give me advice about night time snacking.

Hi to all who follow,

Andrea: yes, Willard Brook is in Ashby, next town over. That is so cool that you knew that.

Beavs: Chin up, and good luck at your concert. It is hard not to resist when you can smell everything cooking.

Well, last night I had a piece of strawberry/rhubarb pie. Not so clean but sorta tidy, the crust was whole wheat and homemade.

Today's plan:

B:multigrain cereal,skim,blueberries,strawberries and 2 egg whites
S:? not sure if I will have time
L: 7 lge shrimp,tossed salad with spinach,crispbread,1/2c mango,newman's walnut rasberry dressing 1 tbsp.
S:1/2 banana,0.25c strawberries,EAS protein powder(soy)
D:chicken,sweet potato,tossed salad
S: cottage cheese,blueberries,crispbread

This AM's workout was ME. I replaced two of the leg presses with plie squats and drop squats.

Have a tidy and clean day!

Elaine

Hello Phyllis, Robin, Beav's and Andrea!
Everyone is stepping it up!

My day, the usual, breakfast, oats, hemp, berries, almond milk, added puffed kamut to the top, its great crunch!
I'm taking the afternoon to get my hair done, its in dire need!
My aunt passed away yesterday, i haven't met her, my mom was put into foster care quite young, and they were raised seperately. I feel extremely sad for my mother, my heart is breaking.
Woke up early, 4am and did MM, will do more when i get home, need to distract myself.

Well, my 100 calorie treat is Chocolate vitatops ( http://www.vitalicious.com ). I love the Fudgy PB chip, Double Chocolate dream, and Deep chocolate. I had one last night for my treat & some SF hot cocoa. Totally craving chocolate & now I know why (TTOM).

So my usual day..

Liquids ~ 30 oz water, cup of coffee

Breakfast ~ Usual oatmeal + berries

Lunch ~ Probably a salad + protein

Snack ~ Probably yogurt, Kashi cereal, & berries

Dinner ~ Going out to eat w/ some good friends tonight but will make a good clean choice! :)

As for my kids eating healthy, they don't eat everything that I do, but they do love oatmeal (I do sneak in a little wheat germ & flax) topped w/ some brown sugar, and we have game that we *count* our servings of fruit & veggies each day. They love it as they try to *beat* everyone w/ more servings. Making a game like that out of it makes it fun for them!! (and easier for me to get them to eat their fruits/ veggies!) Also, they love to make their own smoothies. I usually make theirs w/ yogurt, berries, banana, a little chocolate protein powder (they love it!), and a little milk (soy for my middle dd as she is sensitive to dairy like me.) And I usually add in 1 T. flax, they never seem to notice. It's an easy way to sneak in extra healthy stuff! Veggies aren't quite as easy, usually I just let them eat raw veggies dipped in ranch dressing, none of them are big on cooked veggies other than peas or corn. I want to teach them healthy habits that will stick w/ them as they grow older, I see so many kids living on junk food!! (ok, off soap box now! :p )

Thank you for reminding me of the Vitalicious products Jess. I just looked again and they are finally available at a grocery store near me so I will doing some shopping there.

Hey Robin,
How about the 100 cal. snack packs of popcorn (Newman's Own makes one). Then you can eat the whole thing without guilt:9

I like to go for a walk after dinner with my husband and our yellow lab. I'm never as hungry for a nighttime snack after that (not sure why). Afternoons (3:00 or so) are my ravenous times! That's when I need lots and lots of veggies handy!

Hi cleaner upperers. Today, so far:
Bfast- ww eng muffin w/almond butter and jelly, banana
Lunch- PB&J on ww, carrots, blueberries and black raspberries
Snack- cherries

Dinner will be salmon if I remember to stop and buy some on the way home. Corn on the cob and brown rice.

Workout will be something cardio. Maybe Amy Bento step.

Stay on the wagon folks.
