Have you ever watched this? Every time I see it, I'm just blown away by the strength of these acrobats. Some of the things they do, actually - just about all of it, seems physically impossible! I wonder what kind of exercise routines they do? It must consist of some serious hardcore yoga.

I was laughing to myself as I watched these two ladies on the trapeze pulling themselves up so effortlessly, because I was so excited that I did a chin-up on the swingset the other day.

And none of the woman have bulky muscles. So it's just proof that you can be incredibly strong without looking like it.

If you've never had the chance to watch them, Bravo plays their shows occassionally. It's definitely worth checking out.

My sentiments exactly! Wow! I went to Mystere Cirque show a while back and we sat on the front row. Now, on the front row, some of the acts look just a little bit less "effortless" than from a few rows back, but maybe even MORE amazing. These two guys did what they call Hand to Hand power moves- like very slow yoga/gymnastics ON each other ON a revolving dome and we could see every pulsating vein and drip of sweat. My jaw was on the floor most of the night.
And I, too, was proud of my dips and pull ups......its all relative. :) However, last Friday, I did do a back handspring. First time in about 3 years. At 37, I'm sure it wasn't the best one I've ever done! :p

I saw those two guys in the Bravo special. They took their shirts off and looked absolutely beautiful! I didn't want my husband feeling all weird because there's no way he couldn't know how much I was privately drooling over them, so I made a crack about them being like Ace and Gary from Saturday Night Live (The Ambiguously Gay Duo). But my oh my...they were each a perfect specimen of the human form!

Nice job on the handspring. I've never done any gymnastics. Were you a cheerleader? I was a skier.

I've seen one of the Circ shows in Vegas the um.. risque one. The moves were quite amazing and there bodies were lean and strong. Well except for the two overly voluptuous ladies. The girl with the hoola hoops up in the air on a rope was most amazing!

Cirque is awesome - someone I know well used to work for them in Vegas and I got some backstage peeks. Many of the performers are gymnasts from the former Soviet republics who got training in those schools where you live away from home starting when you're five so you can try to become an Olympian. Their physiques are awesome - lean and ripped. They rehearse and train their acts just like they were going to the Olympics, and they have all the resources at their disposal (fully equipped practice gyms, trainers, physical therapists, massage therapists). One dirty little secret is that eating disorders are rampant among the young women.

You'd think there wouldn't be a problem with the eating disorders, seeing how they get so much physical exercise. I can't imagine how they could do all that stuff without eating a ton!

Yes, we were watching these all weekend long on Bravo! The in-laws were visiting and all of us were just glued to the TV. We were all like "Hey, it's 7 o'clock! Time for Cirqu-a-thon!" Those acrobats are truly amazing. The strength and flexibility are mind-boggling. I, too, wonder what their training regimen looks like. I would love to meet some of these people and just follow them around for a day to see what they do to stay so fit and strong.

I can't believe how strong thes acrobats are.The show I saw many years ago their was a small Thai woman balncing on one arm on pole suspended in the air.She was also rotating! unbeleivable! I am struggling through the pushup work in GS Chest/Triceps.It boggles my mind how they do it.

We went to Mystere in Vegas a couple of months ago. Completely amazing!!! Probably the best show we've seen there! I couldn't even tell you my favorite part, my jaw was on the floor the whole show!
