Circus question

So, my son is interested in going to the Ringling Brother's Funumdrum. Here's my concern and quetion. Do they still abuse the animals and treat them horribly while on the road? I know it used to be a terrible practice which is why I have refused to take him. Anybody know anything about this?

Thanks!
Pam

Ringling Brothers is actually one of the worst. Find an animal-free circus - they're out there. I generally ask myself = is there any chance that animal would do that behavior in its "natural" state (i.e. wild cats don't run through fire and elephants don't stand on their head). If the answer is no, it's a bad gig. I just don't do circuses at all, as a rule. They're evil.
Except Cirque du Soleil - that's as close as I get - haha!

That is TOTALLY what I thought as well!!! I rmember back in the day when I was a member of PETA and other animal rights groups, it just made me sick to see how badly the poor animals are treated!! I'm going to shred the brochure right now!!

Thanks!
Pam

Not only are the animals treated badly, the people don't fare much better. I used to work at a restaurant when Ringling Brothers came to town one year. There are entire families in the circus, barely literate, barely English speaking, getting paid pittances, and some even sleep with their animals..I am sure all the circus people are not like that, but I was amazed at how uneducated the children are, with no chance at any type of change.

Pam , how cool of you to be concerned about that type of thing !! I am a total animal lover, and have also heard that some of these organizations treat the animals with total cruelty. Personally I think they should all be outlawed, but hopefully in the future we can all help put an end to crap like that. Nice to know there are others out there who won't stand , or support this type of behavior !

Yes!!! They abuse animals.

"But for the use of physical punishment by, and fear of their oppressors, animals would never be a part of a circus."

Richard Pryor, actor

Animals are not meant to entertain humans in circuses. That is not why they were created.
Thank you for asking the question.
