Circuits

Hey y'all

I think I asked this before so forgive the redundancy but do you classify HST/HSC/Bootcamp type workouts that have some weights in them as a "cardio" workout or "weights" workout> I'm trying to do weights every other day and wonder how I fit in these workouts....??
So if I did ME on Monday, is doing HST on Tuesday ok, or is that overworking muscles in a bad way?? Duh!!
I asked this on Ask Cathe but obviously she is a busy lady right now so I'm being impatient.

HST/HSC/Bootcamp are circuit type workouts which use cardio and weights. Muscles need 48 hours to rest before working them again. If you did ME on Monday, I would do just cardio on Tuesday. Then on Wednesday you could do a circuit workout.

I agree with Marcy. I wouldn't do ME and BC back-to-back.

If a workout includes upper and lower body weight work, I wouldn't do another weight workout the day before or after.

The exception would be workouts that have moves that combine upper and lower body, because you usually don't use heavy enough weights to fatigue the legs much, so you could do a leg workout the day before or after. Or if you omit the upper body moves, you could do an upper body workout (or a whole body workout) the next day.

I also am doing every other day cardio/weight rotations. I find that I can fit the circuits (HST/HSC, etc) as strictly cardio if I use light weights (usually 5 lbs) for the upper body. Using the light weights help increases the heart rate without creating muscle fatigue. HTH!

I second Amys strategy... Some Circuits I do heavier wts some just light to get HR up. Has worked great for reducing body fat for me.

Yes I am by no means heavying up on Circuit work, in fact in general even on my 'weight' days I am going lighter on LB work since I found that I tend to bulk easy in the butt/thigh area, lovely.

Thanks~!~
