Christmas gift ideas?

Hello everyone, I know this might be a strange request, but I am sincerely stumped on Christmas gifts this year. I have most of it done, but I am wandering around trying to finish up and doing nothing but drawing a big blank when it comes to my two sons and my father in law.

The boys are 12 and 14. They love games, including board games so if you know of any unique ones that are special for some reason, let me know. Maybe people could just share what they are thinking for their own kids and that could help.

My father in law is tough. He is the type of person who will buy what he needs so it is hard to know what he needs. Classic "person who has everything", so it is a challenge. I hate having to buy something just for the sake of it, but fortunately that is not the case. Our family draws names for adults specifically so the grotesque commercialism is kept to a minimum. I will say that he travels a lot with work and so any unique travel items that would be useful might be ideas I could ask for. He is also a Hot Rod truck fan, and actually built one, so ideas for that.....loves history, and reading as well, so book suggestions.

I appreciate any thoughts, and any creative clever gift ideas!!:)

My daughter is turning 13 soon and she's really into Game Cube games and games for her PC. CD's are always a good choice for this age group, even if their taste in "music" may not be quite what you had in mind ... LOL!

Your father in law sounds like a challenge, but since he's interested in both Hod Rod trucks and history, I'm sure you could find a book about them. You say he travels, and that would give him something to read on a plane or in a hotel room. Does he have a laptop? Software for it might be a good idea.

Good luck!

My dad is a tough one to buy for too, but this year I know what I'm getting him. He loves doing crossword puzzles and I saw in a catalog "The New York Times Touch Screen Crossword Puzzle" made by Excalibur. It has 1,000 classic puzzles from the 70's, 80's and 90's. You can choose from multiple skill levels. It looks like a palm pilot and, after doing an Internet search, the cheapest I saw it was $49.50 in "Solutions" catalog. It'd be great for travel!

I'm impressed! I havent even started shopping or even coming up with a list!! My dad is hard to buy for as well. Last year I bought him a bunch of lottery tickets, no winners, but he enjoyed it. I have nephews that are around 12-13 years old. They seem to really love cash lol. I bought one a book last year and hid $50 in it. Happy shopping!!

Dani-
LL Bean puts out a "Traveler" catalog which is excellent and I believe can be accessed at llbean.com . We don't do adult gifts in my family anymore, just the kids, but I remember how tough it used to be to get stuff for the guys!

Just editing to add that one gift that cannot fail is a gift certificate to Barnes & Noble. I've never seen anyone disappointed with that! Great fallback for the guy who has everything.

Well I paint alot with water based acrylics, so I am making as christmas presents, painted mason jars and making lamps out of them, cool huh ...... I like give something that I made if possible, one thing about it, they can't take it back :7 .. Rhonda :7
