Christi Taylor?

Hi everyone-

Just a quick question for those of you who use Christi Taylor's tapes. Is her choreography comparable to Cathe's or more complex than Cathe's? I've read some reviews saying that Christi's is very complicated. I LOVE Cathe's, so I was thinking of giving some of Christi's videos a try. Any info would be great! Thanks!

In my opinion Christi and Cathe are very different. Cathe has a more athletic style, more power moves. Christi is more dancy and definitely uses more complex choreography. Christi (and this is where they are the same) is an extremely likable instructor and her tapes really are fun if you like to invest time in learning choreography, which I do. If you want to try Christi, her newest tapes would probably be the easiest for you to start with. They don't seem to be quite as difficult as her earlier ones. Still Steppin (obviously step) and Still Jumpin (hi/lo) are her new ones. Hope this helps you some! I think Cathe and Christi are #1 instructors. Very taleted!!!

Hi,
I dislike choreography, and I am very uncoordinated. But I have heard many good things about Christi Taylor, so I just purchased one of her new videos - Still Jumpin'. I haven't tried it yet, but the reason I bought this video is because the video description says that "basic and complicated versions of all choreography are simultaneously demonstrated throughout this workout." This sounds like a great way to try a Christi Taylor workout with out getting frustrated! She also has a Still Steppin' video that is the same type of workout. You can check it out at www.taylordfitness.com.

Thanks for the information, both of you! I don't mind complicated choreography too much. I think I may take both of your advice and try one of Christi's newer tapes! Thanks again, I'll let you know how it goes!

Hi Kelly,
I noticed also that the newer tapes say (on Christi's website) that basic and complicated versions of the choreography are demonstrated throughout the workout. Do you find this to be true? I would like to give Christi another try because I absolutely adore her personality. She is just too cute! She has great music too. Do you find that the basic version is demonstrated throughout? And if so, which of Cathe's videos would equal Christi's idea of basic? Does that make sense?

Thanks,
Lisa

I have two Christi Taylor step tapes. I really liked the first one (sorry, I can't remember the name, but I know it's not one of the CIA tapes), so I thought I would try Step Heaven. I practically killed myself on the second part of it. She has so many moves facing away from the television that I have never been able to do the second part of this tape. The third part is okay, but I don't like fast forwarding over part 2--I feel like I'm cheating. I have never had any trouble mastering Cathe's step tapes after 2 or 3 tries and I also can do all of Kari Anderson's tapes, so I think Christi Taylor is harder than either one of them.

I just remembered the tape I really liked by Taylor--The Stepping Zone. She breaks things down like Cathe in this tape and I thought it was really fun after 2 or three times--and sufficiently challenging for an advanced stepper.

Hi Lisa

YES! :) On Christi's 2 newest ones, Still Steppin' and Still Jumpin', she has some of the cast doing the complex versions and some doing a more basic version of the moves. It is easy to follow along with whichever version you choose, cuz the easier-choreography-girls are wearing yellow shirts which really stand out from the rest. It is a really great feature on these 2 new tapes. These 2 new tapes are the easiest Christi's that I've tried (and I've tried them all), I picked up pretty much all of the choreography on my first time thru, depending on the "yellow shirts" from time to time to keep me on the right foot during the more complex moments. Hope this helps.

RE: Hi Lisa

Thanks Deb. I might have to order Still Jumpin. I love Christi, but had incredible difficulty with HI/LO Heaven. Still Jumpin sounds like it would be more suited for me than the heavenly series. Hey, a new video by Christi might make the wait for Cathe's new vid's seem a little easier, huh?
Lisa

I love The Stepping Zone video. It is one of my favorites. It is still harder choreography than her newer tapes.

Lisa, I think Still Jumpin would be a great Christi for you to try. Modified versions are shown throughout the whole video and it is EXTREMELY fun. I can't express to you how much fun I have with this video and everyone in the video is having a great time too. You will be surprised at how fast you can get this choreography in comparison to her other videos. Have fun!!!!!

Should I try Still Steppin'? Is this one easier than the Stepping Zone, which I also loved?

Lynda,

I really believe that Still Steppin' is easier. This could be partially because I have done a lot of Christi's videos and am used to her style. Others have noted that the choreography is easier also so it isn't just me. The fun factor is still up there though. If you can do Stepping Zone then you can do this one. :)

Thanks, Kelly! I will definitely try it. I am ALWAYS looking for good step tapes.
