I'm begging for help here :)

My DD, 21 yrs old, is going to have to purchase health insurance for herself and I'm hoping I could get some recommendations based on good experiences from anyone here who purchases their own insurance.

We are looking at Health America on esurance website. I've never heard of this group.

I've always had my insurance through my or DH's job so I'm not sure what the best group would be.

The big thing is that she is going to need a breast reduction soon and so with that in mind, we are trying to find a good company.

Any info/help you all could give us would be soooooo appreciated!

TIA.

I have to deal with insurance companies on a daily basis. What I do know is each state has different guidelines, so really do your research from your area. The best advice I can give you is to make sure all hospital and outpatient visits are covered 100%. There are many companies that have 80/20 or 90/10 plans. That means if your procedure cost 10,000 dollars (80/20) your insurance would pick up 8,000 of it and you would pay 2,000. It's really sad how some of my patients can't get their chemo drugs because they fully do not know what they are insured for. Thank goodness for patient assistance but that doesn't always work. Good luck in your research and best of luck to your daughter. -Lisa

P.S. You may have to pay a higher copays when you see the doctor but make sure everything is covered 100% it will save you in the long run.
