OH NO.....I JUST READ UP THERE AND REALIZED THAT I MISSED CATHERINE'S B-DAY.

HAPPY LATE BIRTHDAY CATHERINE!!!!!!

>Then did stability ball roll outs but from a standing position, took a lot of balance.

Whew Linda...that would require balance!! Nice job.

Thanks Joanne...I'll just pick one (but it looks like I need to pick 3 to get a deal...and I love to get a deal!)

Can't wait for STS!

Waves to Marcy!!

RE: **Chinups in the Summer Time There's Nuttin Like It...

I am so ready for STS!!! I am a bit worried however about the website change. I don't adjust well to change :p

I just ordered Strike Zone. There seems to a lot of controversy over this one at VF, but I ordered it anyway. Apparently it is off beat a bit and some people made some comments about that. Then everyone got their panties in a wad over some comments that Tracey's producer made. So now I get to see what all the fuss is about :+ Really, I just wanted something new to occupy my time since STS won't be out for a while!!

Briee, thanks for the b-day wishes!!

RE: **Chinups in the Summer Time There's Nuttin Like It...

Good Morning Chinsters!

I had a great workout last night. Did GS BS&B Mix-N-Match plus I did a total of four chinups and 2 pullups. Also did Kick Max leg conditioning drills. OWEEE!

This morning I did a half hour walk/run and ab work from Tracey's High Intensity Step Mix 2.

Catherine - I have Tracey's Strike Zone. I only did it once. There are 12 strikes (1st one being warmup and last being cooldown). I pretty much liked strikes 6-11. Strike 9 was tough - all upper body work (planks, spider webs, pushups). Josef was pretty good in this. I have to agree about it being offbeat which bothered me somewhat. Hope you like it.

Waves to Briee, Linda and Joanne!

RE: **Chinups in the Summer Time There's Nuttin Like It...

Marcy, I can not believe you did KM leg condtioning drills after all of that  You are an animal!! WTG on your chinups and pullups!!

Well, I was doing my lower body routine this morning (just starte) when at the bottom of my squat (80#s) I had a sharp intense pain in my lower back x( Instead of dumping the wt, which is what the saftey catches are for, I pushed through it and finished the rep. I was unable to straighten back up for a few minutes. Uggggh!!! I had absolutely no warning. My back is tweaky and it usually tells me before something like this!! So needless to say I ditched the workout.

I did manage to do 1 segment of coremax and one of stretchmax. This afternoon I tried to do a low impact step, but my back was too sore and stiff. So I tried pullups and got out 4, but again, bothered my back. So I did 2 sets of 5 wide grip pullups with a light band. Just to say I did something :+ I will be working out very cautiously this week- if at all!!

RE: **Chinups in the Summer Time There's Nuttin Like It...

Morning,

Was suppose to start a new rotation this morning, but instead no workout for me. I feel like hell! DS share a nasty respiratory virus with me. Chest hurts when I cough, throat hurts when I swallow and head feela like it's going to explode. It will take all I have to clean my house today.

Catherine - So sorry to hear about your back! I hope it's okay! I will have to admit I will take my bum knee and wrist over a hurt back. That's a tough injury.

RE: **Chinups in the Summer Time There's Nuttin Like It...

Linda, sorry your DS shared his cold with you :( I think you are smart to take a rest day. So, have you picked a name for your PT business yet?

My back is a bit sore today. I am scheduled to do upper body and was thinking of doing it, but I know I should let my back rest for a few days. It's gonna be hard, but I am gonna try to take a few days off and behave!!

RE: **Chinups in the Summer Time There's Nuttin Like It...

Okay...now I don't feel like I'm the ONLY one with aches and pains. I DO hope you guys are both feeling better!! I hate injuries!!!!

I actually got up and did a weight workout this morning. I copied off Lindas full body workout up above and headed for the basement. (my workout room needs a good cleaning - it's collecting dust lately). My weights were not as impressive as Linda's but I'm already feeling the pain (which is awfully quick to be feelin it). Now I need a program to stick with. I appreciate you guys listing your weight workouts as I think I'm going to follow these for a while. Also did 4 miles yesterday and I will do that again today. Will go do my 25 chin/pulls as well. Promise!!

Hope you guys are on your way to recovery. Please give that back a rest Catherine...I know from experience!! Hey have you been on facebook lately? I can't even remember how to log in. Just too busy.

Have a beautiful day everyone!!

RE: **Chinups in the Summer Time There's Nuttin Like It...

Briee - You said you are looking for a program you can stick with, can I ask you what types of exercise you like? How much cardio? What type? What kind of lifting? Heavy? Endurance? Do you like circuits? Boy I sound like a trainer don't I? Anyway, I saw you followed my workout and just thought maybe I had a rotation you might enjoy.

RE: **Chinups in the Summer Time There's Nuttin Like It...

I'll try to make this brief. I worked out INTENSELY with weights similar to yours until this past year - when I began to have knee/joint problems and then got REALLY frustrated!!! So I'm working out sporatically at best right now! I would LOVE your input. My favorite is heavy lifting (although my "heavy" is not as heavy as it wasx( x( )). I like the results of weights. Cardio - is somewhat irrelevant to me. I go for 4 mile walks/runs on our 1 mile drive and am planning to pick up cardio coach in the next week or two. I am interested in a heavy weight workout that does not consume too much time in the morning. I did the P90X literally for 1 1/2 years and went from only doing 1 pullup to doing sets of 8 - 12. I LOVED it, but need something different. I love to see your weight workouts listed and think I'll just follow you for a while possibly unless you have some better ideas. I just need someone "keeping me going". Leg wise - I'm having a terrible time with one of my knees. I did squats this morning using a 94# bar and my knee wasn't bothered. When I get into some of Cathe's workouts where I do lots of squats/lunges in a much faster motion - I have to stop - or it tweaks in a weird way. Slow and heavy seems to be much more tolerable. Does that help? And THANKS SO MUCH FOR ASKING. I LOVE having a PT in our chinner thread - what a blessing!!!!

RE: **Chinups in the Summer Time There's Nuttin Like It...

Thanks guys!

Briee - one more question about the lifting. Do you prefer full body or splits?

RE: **Chinups in the Summer Time There's Nuttin Like It...

I prefer splits. I rarely do a full body - just needed to today to "wake up my system". Thanks so much Linda.

RE: **Chinups in the Summer Time There's Nuttin Like It...

Okay Ladies, I need help. "All You Got" is still in the lead, but I ran that name across a couple of non-exerciser and I kind of got a deer in the headlights kind of look. So I am afraid some people just won't get it. So what I am asking for are just what words come to your mind when you think exercise, fitness, health and personal training. Whatever comes to mind. Mine by the way is fried, I've been spending a lot of time at dictionary & thesaurus dot com.

Briee - okay I'll get back to you!

RE: **Chinups in the Summer Time There's Nuttin Like It...

>I ran that name across a couple of non-exerciser and I kind of got a deer in the headlights kind of look.

This is a problem. Here on Cathe's site...we live, eat, sleep - exercise (at least some of us didx( ). BUT we are far from the norm. I could GREATLY enlarge my exercise class and I know that I should, but I hate doing "less than intense" which is what the normal person is.

I really do WANT to reach those that NEED to exercise, but I have to change my workouts significantly to do that. (I'm rambling on.)

Point is Linda - if you want to reach the majority - your title is going to have to change to something that won't thrill "us" so to speak - but will appeal to the general public. If you want to train the elite few who really want to WORK, then I think your listed titles are great! But your numbers will drop greatly. So who do you want to reach?

Makes me crazy, but you know the magazines that make us all insanely irritated....."5 minutes per week to perfect abs", "get the butt you want in two quick moves and still eat chocolate", "be skinny in 10 minutes without breaking a sweat". You see these titles every day in the checkout line. AND PEOPLE BUY THESE MAGAZINES. AND REALLY BELIEVE THIS. Now I'm really rambling and not helping you a bit, but this unfortunately is what you're up against. "Snap Fitness" - why do you think people join this health club? Hey how about "Real Results". I always feel like telling the mag editors to get real when I read covers like this.

I'm just not in a creative mode right now..I'll have to think about this.

RE: **Chinups in the Summer Time There's Nuttin Like It...

Briee - I have to admit you lost me there for awhile! LOL! What is the part about "greatly enlarge my exercise class" and "want to reach those that need"? Do you teach group or something?

Anyway, my target audience is a mixed. I want to help the poor lost person you has no clue where to begin, but also the exerciser who's been at it for a while and not reaching there goals, and the experienced exerciser who wants to go to the next level, but not quite the elite athlete if you know what I mean.

RE: **Chinups in the Summer Time There's Nuttin Like It...

Oh, I think I got one. What about Strong Heart, Strong Mind, Strong Body??? Ya know it involves all- three heart mind and body. I'll have to google that and make sure there isn't something else already copy righted or something.

RE: **Chinups in the Summer Time There's Nuttin Like It...

I'm sorry Linda...I loose people when I ramble and assume they know what I'm talking about. I have a group of ladies that exercise on Tuesday nights. While our kids were in TaeKwonDo, we used to sit around and talk. About 3 years ago I suggested we work out while the kids are busy. Then we have an adult taekwodo class after our workout class - works great. I bring all the weights and steps. Very fun class.

I have had MANY women express interest in coming, but several have viewed it and feel it's way too intense as we frequently bring Cathe DVDs and follow them (ie PH, MM or ME). I have helped several with form and basic lifting - but still - beginners are very intimidated. I really need to figure something out so beginners can join in - but it's hard to gear it down as several of the women "really love to lift" and want a GOOD workout. I have never charged anything - we just enjoy it. There's the history.

Now I need to go and do my chins. I like your idea Catherine - very nice!

RE: **Chinups in the Summer Time There's Nuttin Like It...

Hey gang!! Well, I am still resting my back. I had hoped it would be a couple of days of down time, but no. I did go through the motions of Strike Zone 1-5 this evening. And it didn't aggravate it any. I may do some chinups tomorrow. We'll see!!!

I hope you all are doing well!! Any big plans for the holiday??

RE: **Chinups in the Summer Time There's Nuttin Like It...

Still resting the lungs. I can't believe I haven't worked out since Friday! Was going to try and do something today, but took a sleep aid last night because I was keeping myself awake with coughing, so there was no getting out of bed this morning. But I slept great! Why does the coughing fit alway start a half an hour before bed!!!!

Catherine So how is the back feeling?
