Hey Chinners, has nobody started this thread yet???

Well...I shouldn't be the one to do it because this week has been so busy, my chins have fallen by the wayside along with everything else it seems. Tomorrows a new day though!:7 :7 And I hope to be able to post something.

Biked the ridge yesterday with my 15 y/o son and his friend. They did very well and it was a beautiful day. Only one serious dog threat and they enjoyed this as they are BOYS. They wanted to go back and get chased again. Boys are so weird;) ;)

Hope you all had a great Memorial Day!! With lots of chinups!!

Briee

Did sets of "real" chins, then additional sets of assisted's on my Total Trainer. This after a week off, so it felt good to get back into it.

Thanks for starting this, Briee. The bike ride sounded fun!

I didn't work out at all this weekend other than chins on Saturday. I hope to get a circuit and some chins in today. The Ball is Saturday and then it's back to normal! (Although this Memorial Day weekend was mostly about fun with family and friends and not Y work.)

Have a great day! :)

>I didn't workout at all this weekend other than chins

Soosan...you worked out!! I frequently do chins along with a "Cathe" workout and sub in chins for all her back work. Makes the rest of the workout so darn tough because my arms are so fried from chins. I believe they are a workout in, of and all by themselves!!:7 :7

HB...great job with your chins. I've had a few days off and can't wait to get back again.

Joanne...I may be picking my mom up in Anoka June 12th. Any AJ water workouts at that time? Maybe bike rides? Maybe chins in the park?

Briee

Joanne...forget all that...how about just donuts?;)

I may end up meeting her in Rochester so this might not work, but I haven't nailed down details yet. Will check back with ya.

Briee

I'm still hanging in there!

Yesterday, I was able to do several sets (now, my 'sets' are as many as I can do at a time, which usually is one!) throughout the day.

I did 1 3/4 (yes, I finally got over the bar again! And I added a partial rep!), followed a few minutes later by 1 1/2 reps (yes, I can do more than 1 full rep a day! Though still not in a row, LOL!). I followed this by two negative reps, lowering for 10 on the first and for 6 on the second.

Later on, I got in another 'set' of 1 1/2 .

Kathryn, I feel 2 in a row coming on for ya!! Good job:) :)

OK, I had every intention of coming home and doing P90X legs and back tonight, but..... I am really in a mental rutx( Too much garbage in my head and I am mentally exhausted. So I have talked myself out of doing it. I WILL do it tomorrow. I did however, out of curiousity grab the bar and did 3 in a row chinups- that's the first time in 2 weeks! I will report back tomorrow, hope my mood is better.

Briee-

Let me know if you will be in the area that day and I will try to work something out to meet up with you. A-jock teaches on Saturday mornings and Wednesday evenings.

Back to report: no chin attempts but did manage to squeeze in HSTA. I like that you only need two sets of db's and a fixed-weight barbell. Takes less time to set everything up, and on busy days, every second counts! I'll do some chins at the Y tomorrow before my 9am meeting. I always get weird looks when I saunter over to the assisted machine in a variety of outfits (almost always non-workout), take off whatever shoes I'm wearing, crank out what I can and then leave. Hey - works for me! I'm also going to try to fit in a vigorous power yoga workout tomorrow. I haven't done yoga in a couple of weeks.

Kathryn, you are doing SO great! You're already almost to TWO and your goal was to do ONE by the end of summer. WAY TO GO!!!!:):):)

Catherine, funny that on what sounds like an off-day you made it back to three! I don't know what's happening in your life, but I attribute a lot of the mental junk going on these days to hormones. At 44, mine are really wreaking havoc these days. Working out helps me a lot, especially when I set goals. Hope you feel better tomorrow!
:)

Briee and Joanne, I wanna go to A-Jock's class! No fair! If you do go, you better make her do some chins.}(

Thanks Soooooooooooosan. And my mood is definately hormonal- I have premature ovarian failure diagnosed at 37 ( a little over 2 years ago) So I take the pill to keep me sane and dry at night (from night sweats) Anyway, I have to go off the pill for a week every three months and this is my week "off"x( x( I literally don't like myself- and normally I am a fairly content person. So I know this is temporary. But you are soooo right, funny that I got back to 3 today.

BTW Soooooooooooosan, are you chinnin in a skirt ?:+:+

Hope everyone else is doing ok!!

Catherine

Hi chinsters! I've been busy getting ready to leave town for the next few days. Think of me as I ride in a vehicle for 5 hours one way with my crew.

I'm going to do my upper body workout shortly which will include my negatives and inverted rows. I am consistently able to do 4 sets of chinup-negatives of hold 5 sec at top, slow 10ct down each without trouble and am trying to decide how to progress. I'll take any suggestions as I still can't pull up at all, well maybe a fraction of an inch, meaning I can feel the beginning of a bend in the arm but it's probably not visible.:p x(

May not get back tonight and am heading out of town early afternoon tomorrow.

Remember to work hard while I'm away.:7

Melody, how many repetitions are you doing in each set? Maybe increase the number of reps per set. Or do pauses on your way down- hold at top, lower 1/3 pause, lower to 1/2 pause,...

Hope you have a good trip out of town.

Catherine

Catherine...I'm back in my mental rut as well. Kids are having chicken pox this week and we're struggling to get this project finished quick and I just can't get down to work out. I've had some great bike rides, but nothing more than that for 6 days.

I'VE GOT TO BREAK OUT OF THIS.

Briee x( x( x( x( x( (nice to know someone else is going through this though...thanks)

Briee, sorry to hear your kids have the pox!! AT least you are biking thank goodness for that. I will get back into things today. At least something.

Catherine

>Kathryn, you are doing SO great! You're already almost to TWO

>GO!!!!:):):)

Actually, my goal was and is to a one set of 5 by the end of the summer!

Thanks Catherine for your suggestions. I think I'll add pauses/holds going down.

Briee, I'm so sorry your kids (and you) are dealing with chicken pox. I totally relate as my kids have been sick in turns, all together, 2/3-together etc. for the third week now. I have never had them like this before. My asthma child with past serious reflux issues is apparently at it again and he and I have been up--literally--all night, no sleep, for several nights. Waiting for the doc call back and a probable GI series for the little dude.

I did manage a workout yesterday and did my negatives and inverted rows.

I'm waiting for DH's nap to end so I can get MY turn.

Wishing all the chinster strength, success and happy times.:7

Good morning Briee and Everyone,

I did 2 sets each of assissted pull ups and chin ups of eight reps each. Increased 1 set each and doing well. Next couple of weeks will increase again to 3 sets each, assissted of course.

Did Body Fusion with high energy at 8" steps, and used 10 pound dumb bells. My head band was soaked by the time I got finished (but then it was a little warm outside). Also had a great stretch.

Today is sculpting the lower body with my Total Gym. I'm adding pounds to it throughout the workout. And doing a Cathe's Lower Body Sculpting as well
Hey Honeybunch, seems we have a similar workout machine. There is no way that I'm as fit as you, but one day...

Briee, sounds like you will do just fine getting back to your ideal chins. I love tomorrows, arn't they wonderful? I've never had a boy, but they sound like fun. Big dogs scare the h@ll out of me!

Take care, and have fun tomorrow, and all days,

Janie
