Chin-Up Check-In Wed 4.19

Good morning, chinsters! I hope everyone's eaten their morning donuts and are raring to go.:)

Since my birthday is on December 19 and today is April 19, I have exactly 8 short months to do an unassisted chin-up from a dead hang. I'm going to attempt some negs later this morning and hopefully not mess up my rhomboid. I hope the little voice who spoke to Catherine yesterday knows what she's talking about and is not some kind of pseudo-fairy.

So who's doin' 'em today?}(

Back to report: Attempted an unassisted with no luck before doing 5 10-ct negs. (Catherine, did the fairy mention WHICH Wednesday?) I probably could've done one or two more but wanted to play it safe with the rhomboid in order to avoid another set-back. Next attempt will be Saturday. I'll be doing PUB later this afternoon.
 
I've been doing this. Jump up and then come down a little, pull myself back up. I can do about 3 of those. At least I feel like - wow, I am pulling myself up. Hopefully, the day will come that I can pull up from a dead hang. And, of course, I am still doing the 10-ct negs.

I had a lousy workout. We have out-of-town guests coming this afternoon so I only did the PUB Up premix w/no ab work and, boy, I had a hard time using my normal weights even for this shortened version! I have no idea why. And now my rhomboid's hurting again which is such a bummer b/c I may not be able to keep doing UB work, much less chin-ups.x( You never know how much a muscle gets used in a particular activity until it gets injured. Sorry to moan...
 
Sorry I'm late posting, got sidetracked by the cake:9 :9 :9

I only managed six negatives to an 8 count this morning. My arms are feeling like jello lately. Guess I should take a day off from chin-ups and pull-ups. DARN!!!!:) :) :)
 
Soooooooooooosan, I guess the fairy didn't say which Wed LOL!!! Actually, I think it was something like after resting from your injury you would be able to do one. So I guess you need more recovery :( Sorry about your Rhomboid. But I think you have been wise to go easy.


Joanne& Tammy Keep up the good work!! Those negatives are HARD!! Tammy, I think most of us are taking a day or two of rest between attempts.

Melody, are you still sore from GS C&T with negs after??? That'll teach ya huh?? :p JK, that must have been one heck of a w/o.


Now it's official, I DID three today. This time with no stopping to readjust the grip!! Sets as follows 3,1 (with no rest between), 4 10ct negs, rest 3, & 2. So finally I get there.

Briee, I'm thinking of a goal to do 10-15 before Camp in Sept. It would be so awesome to take our donuts and show Tony Horton how to really do chinups, wouldn't it??}( }( }(

Oh I forgot to add a tid bit. Today is our 9 year anniversary and we went to dinner at one of my favorite places. They have the best Tiramisu :p :p

Hey, I almost forgot it was Wednesday and I posted on the other thread. Actually I was getting so amused with the other thread that I hated to leave.

Soosan, you need to rest as your rhomboid continues this obvious uncooperative chinup response. I used to have back pain that occurred FREQUENTLY until this past year when it finally worked itself out. I now realize that I HAVE to stretch OVERLY well, which usually includes a thorough P90X type stretch - the extended version. I usually do most of these stretches prior to doing any Cathe work as well. I was APPALLED to read the thread where everyone confessed to skipping the warmups. I know this would never be the case with "chinsters" correct? I'm assuming being the yoga expert you are, that you are thoroughly stretching prior to any attempts correct? Probably a stupid question. Take a break, eat donuts, and try again when you are COMPLETELY better!!

Catherine....You are AWESOME girl!! Great job. What do you mean 10-15 before Camp in Sept? ...you are miss ambitious. He DOES need to learn how to do REAL pullups doesn't he? What are pullups without donuts?

Joanne...cool methods, very creative, use any means to achieve the goal. That's what I always say!

X...I'm sorry to report, cake just doesn't do it for me. Unless of course it's a cake donut. But keep those pictures coming, it makes our thread interesting!!!!

Woo Hoo!!!!:7 :7 :7 That didn't take long, did it? If you keep imrpoving at this rate, there's no doubt you'll be doing 10-15 by Sept. I hope you and Briee do go.

It took me a little over a month to go from 1 to 3!! I agree with Briee's suggestion of extra stretching. I do frequent shoulder/back stretches throughout the day since we've been doing this.

Briee, YES, I am ambitious :p :p !! My goal is for you and I to be the next stars of the P90X follow ups. Once Tony meets us he'll realize he's found his match!! BTW I WON'T tell him about you shooting him in the head LOL :+

Checking in here to pat Catherine on the back and cheer her on toward that goal...cheer, cheer.

I am scheduled for GS/BSB today and really feel yucky because these allergies are driving me nuts with congestion. IF that workout happens, I will do the negatives before or amidst the back workout ---not after like with the GS/CT - what a fool!
