Chin-o-riffic

Briee - Congrats on your preorder! I'll be doing the happy dance too once I place mine but my CC needs a break for as long as possible.

Catherine - I also like KenpoX+ better. I like that it's shorter. Gives me time to fit in abs. Never have time to do abs after strength workouts. They take too long. L&B is my favorite Cathe leg workout.

Marcy

Oops! I meant L&G but L&B is one of my favorite X workouts. Does the most good for the chinning.

Marcy

You guys were confusing me...I kept thinking L&B, what is L&B? Then I just assumed you meant legs and glutes or something on the new 4DS that I haven't done yet falling under the legs catagory. And then I wondered why I was spending so much time trying to figure out what L&B was anyway.

But then you cleared the whole thing up! Thank you Catherine.

(okay, this is WHY I can't spend so much time on Cathe's site - because then I spend SO much time on Cathe's site:7 :p  ;) x( }( ;-) ;-) )

Briee

Hey there Chinsters,

I have been doing a chin here and there. Still only one at a time (I still can't believe I can do one :) )

I wish I was back in Maui. It is so cold here and I just can't find a sport that I enjoy in the winter (like Briee). I like to snow shoe once in a while but we don't even have very much snow-just freezing cold!

OK-enough about the cold - have a good night everyone.

OK, workout is done and I am spent!!! Total Body X+ whew!! There are some moves that Tony does on the chinup bar that I can not do because of the way mine is made-like pullup and bring your knee to the bar. I can not do that one because of the dip station in front of mine. So I just do regular chins if that makes any sense. I did a total of 22 chinups in the workout. That's 2 more than the last time I did this w/o. I did not keep track of my pushups-don't know why??

Hope you all have a good Friday!!

It's just me again. I know, for the third time today!! Just wanted to share my brush with stardom today. I was having lunch at a local restaurant today when in walked Carson Kressley. He's the blonde from "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" or you may know him from his new show on Lifetime "How to Look Good Naked" I didn't actually talke to him. But was at a table right next to him. I really didn't want to bother him. I am sure they get so tired of people bothering them when they are out. Anyway, that was my excitement for the day!!

Hi Catherine-I don't know who Carson is but that is neat that you saw him. Great job on those chins. I seem to be able to only do one in a day. I try to do another one later in the day and can't pull myself all the way up. But, I will keep on trying. I had a nasty stomach thing in December. I was soooo sick I thought I was going to die. My hubby caught it a couple of days later so I know it wasn't something I ate. I can't remember the last time I was that sick. Glad you are feeling better.

Joanne

Joanne, are you still doing negative chins too? You'll do 2 one day don't worry!!

I need to really focus and start working on these a bit more. It's gotten down to once a week and that's just not enough for me to improve my numbers. Work, work as Cathe says!!

Briee, Marcy I hope you all are doing ok!!

I just posted a reply and its GONE!! Okay...try to remember what I said..hmmm.

Catherine..I'm sorry to hear that you were sick! I HATE the flu, haven't had it yet this year and am mega thankful.

Joanne...truth be told..I hate winter too. I'm just trying to have a happy, positive spirit and snowboard my little heart out to make it tolerable!! Ds got a concussion last Friday doing a jump and landed on his head. He loved it, lots of attention, another ER visit to add to the many, and we're going again on Saturday, although this time he shall sport a HELMET.

Waves to Marcy and I still miss Sooooooooooooosan. I think I'll try to fit in yoga this week in memory ;( ;( ;( .

Briee

Almost forgot!! You up for Interval X and abs tonight Catherine (you wonderful person you!)???? I did KPC yesterday evening and PH this morning, am sore, but want to try the P90X+. I must have someone suffering with me!!
Anyone???

Briee

Sorry Briee, my w/o for the day is done!! Have fun!!

I did 4DS legs and chinups. I did 7 sets of 4 and 2 or ?3 sets of 3 chinups. Here goes the whining again. Why can't I get my numbers per set back up?!! Actually, I have a couple of theories. 1) I have only been doing chins once a week- need to do something chins/pulls twice a week at least and 2) I've gained a little weight (hopefully some of it muscle from heavy lifting) I weigh more but still wear the same size clothing. Although the legs are getting tight on a few pairs of paints.

Marcy, Joanne how's it going?

I did it. Interval X and abs that is. Last night....it was my second workout for the day too! (we won't mention all the days I've skipped this year - so don't be impressed). It went fine, but Cathe is infinitely harder cardio. BUT the ab work was REALLY interesting, unique, different. I LOVE this alternative to normal ab work, although my wrists were a little sore by the time I was done from all that hangin on the bar. And to be honest, I only did half of it (the ab workout) and was tired and quit. (had done PH in the a.m.). Really a good ab work out - even doing only half!! Those legs out in front while hangin from the bar....awesome. And it's definitely geared for chinners - gives you another reason to own a bar! Maybe even two or three!!:7 :7 :7

Briee

I did one chin today :)

Briee-hope your son is doing ok.

Catherine-I'm sure you will do just fine with the ab work from the X or whatever it is called

Marcy-hello to you.

I bet Sooooosan is going to jump on here one of these days and report that she can do chins and pull ups like crazy.

Joanne

Hi Guys!

Sorry I've been away. I've had a lot going on these days. I'm in the middle of buying and selling a house and my Dad was taken to the hospital a few days ago with pneumonia but he's back home now. The week started out bad but now things are looking better.

I wound up getting out of bed at 4:30 this morning. Couldn't get back to sleep so I figured I'd start early and finally be able to get in an ab workout. I did Legs & Back & Abs/Core+. I had a great chinup/pullup day. I did 2 chinups, 2 wide front pullups, and 3 close grip overhand pullups and I got up to bar level on a couple more. I tried to let my HR go down a little more than usual so maybe I had more energy. My HR always goes up since I have to climb the stairs to the bedroom to get to my pullup bar. I actually worked harder with Abs/Core+ than Legs & Back. All in all, I burned 554 calories. Pretty good, I think, for strength training.

I went to my first bellydance class last night and t was great! It was an hour class. Didn't have my HR monitor so don't know how much I burned but even though it's bellydance, this is a great sculpting workout. You do all kinds of isolations - chest, hips, ribcage. I definitely felt it in my shoulders when this was done. You obviously work your abs a lot and everything else too.

I'm off next week in search of my dream home so I might not be able to check in for a few days. We found one on the internet which of course has a huge basement and I will finally have my own workout room - one of my prerequisites for my new home.

Catherine - Total Body+ sounds great. I can't wait to try it. As soon as I'm done with my regular X rotation, I'll fit it in. I've heard of Carson Kressly but haven't seen the show. It's always nice seeing a famous person up close. Years ago, when I was working at a restaurant I saw two soap opera stars from All My Children. I wanted to say something but then didn't quite know what to say and didn't want to bother them either. Good work on the chins! I have a ways to go to catch up to you. You must do the ab workout. You'll be sorry you didn't do it sooner.

Briee - Hope your DS is okay now. Thanks for doing a yoga class. I did a new one yesterday: Amba: Where Rhythm & Gravity meet. It was a 75 min. vinyasa practice which kind of reminded me a little of Shiva Rea but Shiva's much better. I still enjoyed the practice though. I had DOMS in my glutes yesterday. I agree, Cathe's cardio is much more intense but I've found lately I do better with lower impact cardio although I'll always love IMAX 3. I love the hanging moves on Abs/Core+. They're my favorite moves in the workout.

Joanne - Glad you're feeling better.

Sorry for the long post. Had lots to catch up on.

Marcy

Marcy, you have been busy. Glad your dad is home. WTG on your chins/pulls!!

Briee, so glad you mentioned that your son will be wearing a helmet next time!

Joanne, keep on chinning :D WTG!!

I did P90X+ upper body today. Lots of pushups and chins/pulls. I did a few regular chins/pulls and the rest were assisted with a chair or negatives. Didn't keep count of what I did though.
