Chewing and Spitting?

Hi Board,

I am new here and I thought this would be a good place to get help. I suffered from anorexia (I guess I will forever, but I went 6 years without starving myself) but I have recently began to chew and spit out food. I need help but I am too ashamed to tell my family. They have been through so much, but I feel my disorder creeping back. If you have any words of advice, I am interested in hearing them.

Thank you,
KA

Greetings, KA. I am sorry you are dealing with such a rough time with your eating disorder. My suggestion to you is find good eating therapist that specializes in eating disorders if you have not to help you on the right road. I believe there are people on this board that are and/or have dealt with eating disorders and might be able to PM you about it. I do know you are not alone and I commend you for taking a first step to seek help. Good luck to you.

Thank you very much for making me not feel humilated. This is such a humilating disease. I would like you to PM me with any information. Do you need my email address? Thank you for your support. I feel like it was meant to be that I found this site today.

Awwwwwwwwwwwwww, KA.... many of us on here have been there and you CAN find your way out, but you definitely need to seek some professional help. Speaking to us about it is a great first step. Please take that important step of calling someone who will be able to guide you through recovery for this.:)

Hi KA no need to feel bad, I also suffer from anorexia and bulemia and I am in therapy and been recovering now for over a year, the best way to beat this is to see someone you trust and can confide in. I don't think I could have made it this far without therapy. You can e-mail me if you would like at [email protected]

KA .. I think talking to some of the girls here will help. Bless your heart .. anorexia is such a vicious cycle.

You should be proud that you have already taken the first step in recognizing the problem may be arising again .. you are not in denial and that is a good thing!!

Never be ashamed of your problem .. and I am sure your family would much rather you ask for their help than to have you fall prey to the disorder again.

I am sending positive energy and strength your way .. {{ hugs }} ..

Knowing that you can't do this alone is a very good thing. It is certainly more emotional than physical and I'm saying a little prayer for you even as I type. Hang in there and I hope you find the best help you can.

Oh sweetie,

You are so not alone. My mother is 5'5" tall and weighs 99 pounds. For many, many years she would chew food and spit it out. As a young child, I often "caught" her doing this and she would say she ate a bad nut but over time I realized what was happening.

Please talk to someone. My mother would never go for help because she was in denial that she had a problem. Truthfully the fact that you have posted this is an indication that you want to change your behavior.

Good luck to you:)

HI,

I TOO AM SUFFERING FROM AN EATING DISORDER. I SEE A THERAPIST, AND JUST RECENTLY SHE PUT ME ON LEXAPRO (WHICH DOES HELP) TO HELP WITH THE ANXIETIES AND I ALSO STARTED SEEING A DIETICIAN. WE ARE TAKING THINGS SLOW. I THINK I START A FOOD PLAN IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF WEEKS. THIS FOOD PLAN SCARES ME BUT I HAVE NOT EVEN BEEN EATING 1200 CALORIES A DAY AND STILL TRYING TO EXCERCISE. I ALSO HAVE A GROUP I STARTED GOING TO. SOMEWHERE SAFE AND ANYTHING I SAY IS NOT STRANGE TO THESE WOMEN. I SUFFER FROM RESTRICTION AND PURGING. I ALSO CHEW AND SPIT. ALL EATING DISORDER BEHAVIORS. I READ A GREAT BOOK CALLED LIFE WITHOUT ED BY JENNI SCHAEFER. IT DEALS WITH ALL THE STRUGGLES THAT GO WITH EATING DISORDERS. IT REALLY HELPED ME OPEN MY EYES AND REALLY WANT TO GET BETTER. EVERY DAY IS A NEW DAY WITH NEW STRUGGLES, BUT WHEN YOU ARE STRUGGGLING AGAINST THE DISORDER THAT MEANS YOU ARE NOT GIVING IN BUT FIGHTING IT. YOUR FAMILY CAN BE A GREAT SUPPORT SYSTEM. BELIEVE ME TELLING MY PARENTS WAS NOT EASY, BUT IT TAKES SO MUCH PRESSURE OFF WHEN I AM WITH THEM, ESPECIALLY EATING. MY HUSBAND HAS BEEN GREAT. RIGHT NOW I HAVE BEEN IN RECOVERY, WHICH TO ME IS NOT PURGING, FOR 2 DAYS. I HAVE WENT WEEKS AND INTEND TO AIM FOR THAT AGAIN. YOU ARE NOT ALONE!! SOMETIMES IT IS MINUTE BY MINUTE BUT I BELIEVE IN THE LONG RUN IT WILL ALL BE WORTH IT. IT IS NOT ALWAYS EASY TO DO ALL THESE THINGS BUT I DO BELIEVE THEY ARE STARTING TO HELP ME.
