I saw your post in Ask Cathe re: hip issues and noticed that you received your black belt last week. CONGRATS!!!
I am currently screening for my black belt and you were kind enough to post to my rant about straining my achilles tendon and gastrocnemeus while sparring. I remember you saying that you were testing in April so I was excited to see that you had passed. What an accomplishment!!
I have recovered (95%) and have one more screening to pass before the exam on June 16th. I still get a little twinge in my calf once in awhile so I still need to be careful.
I have been in karate for 3 years also and the one thing I have the most trouble with is my hips. I'm 45 and my hips can get very cranky especially after pad strikes and sparring. But I love it and just signed on for another 5 years.
Anyhoo...I just wanted to say "WAY TO GO":7
