::::CHEETAHS - Wednesday::::

Hi Amy. Have another fun day at work!:)

I have a weight work out on tap for today. Not sure which one I'll do. Too many choices!}( I'll make up my mind later on I guess. :)

BBL!

Edited again b/c half my post doesn't make sense. Guess I oughta wake up first before I start hittin' the keyboard. :p

Hi Amy & Wendy & all my other cheetahlicious friends! :)

Amy :: wow, you are bustin' your tail this week! Does this camp continue right up until school starts?

Wendy :: enjoy your weights, whatever you decide to do. I'm sure you will bring it!! Determined to get those DOMS, I know!

I will be doing DM. Still raining & gloomy here. I'm hoping it'll clear for tomorrow for my next scheduled run.

ETA: Oops, I forgot to go back and read last night's posts. Laurie, glad you enjoyed the massage last night. I think you needed one, huh? I posted over on the OT forum how terrific Faith's new look is. Not everyone can, but she rocks it!

Have a *great* day, all!

Good morning cheetahs! Hope everyone has a fantastic hump day:)
I'm at work right now.... hasn't been too bad of a night. I never did get around to doing upper body work so that'll be this afternoon when I wake up.

Hey cheetahs! Who wants to come play in Las Vegas in Dec? This is a FUN race with Las Vegas Acts every few miles along the course. Nice and flat too. Go to www.lvmarathon.com and check it out. There is no time limit for the marathon or half, so you can walk it if you want. So far we have Carole and her sister, Cathy and Elaine interested..... who else?

Amy, I don't know where you are finding the energy to post at all lately with all the hours you've been putting in. I hope you get a break soon!

Wendy- Great job with the iTread yesterday! It is hard for me to choose a weight work out also... so much to choose from!

Judy- Yes, I do believe I finally caught up on sleep, although my bed is callin me now! How did your DS fare with the dental surgery?
I liked your good solid sensible advice re: PF yesterday.

Kristi- I think that is great you are adopting another dog! Sadie will love it!!! I do hope you seriously consider coming out to LV for a little fun.... and bring your DH... mine will be there!

Cathy- Great to hear from you.... you were missed:) Is all the prep work done yet? I think that is fantastic that you're seriously considering coming to LV!!!! Congratulations on some serious measurement loss there girl :7 :7

Time to get back to work here. Have a good one!

Hi Ladies –

No run yesterday. Instead I turned into a bottomless pit. *shrugs* Oh well, today is another day. And I’m starting to feel human again! It’s a nice feeling. Today will be PS CST and a Spinervals – not sure which one yet.

Amy – Long work hours eh? Hope they are lucrative! Enjoy your day!

Wendy – just think, soon you’ll have another choice as well. Enjoy your weight workout!

Cathy – now why would you wake up before hitting the keyboard? LOL Enjoy Drill Max, hope you get some sunshine today! You’re doing wonderfully on the measurements! Keep up the great work!

Shelly – you were right – whatever was I thinking of doing a run after a flight like that! Silly me. I’m better now! Oh, now I really want to go to Vegas. The 2nd – is that a Saturday? I may have to fly to Chicago for work that weekend. MAYBE I can swing by before I go to Chicago…

Waves hello to all who follow!!

Good morning Cheetahs! Today will be S&A and ARX. I'm happy to give my legs a little break. Yesterday afternoon I started getting DOMS in my butt from iTread n Tush set 19. Today it is still there.

Tomorrow DH & I will both be getting off early from work and going to Cincy to meet Chelsea along with the kids. They won't let you adopt at the first visit. If Chelsea is a good match for our family then DH will back go up again on Saturday with Sadie and see how they act together.

Shelly - The LV HM is very tempting. I've been wanting to do another HM, even if I have to walk some of it. It would be so nice to finally meet you and the other cheetahs. My previous boss is Regional Manager out there. He always hooks people up with fun stuff such as tickets when they come out to visit.

I'll try to BBL. Waves to all Cheetahs!

Shelly :: thanks! :) No, I'm not done with the room prep yet. I know, it probably sounds like it's taking forever. *lol* Part of that is because I've gone in several times but only for a few hours at a time. Yesterday, I'd just gotten there and they announced the building was closing, so I was in for a mere half an hour and didn't accomplish all that much. I think I did mention this before (sorry if I'm being redundant - sometimes I forget if I posted it here or the other check-in I belong to), it normally does not involve this much work - it's the fact that I am settling into a new classroom and doing more unpacking/moving than is normally required. And some of it, too, is that, as a language arts teacher, I'm expanding and re-cataloguing my classroom library, which is kinda time-consuming. I don't mind it, though. I really enjoy creating a warm and inviting space.

Christine :: completely understand why you'd bag your run. Cross-country travel in such a short amount of time can take it out of ya...Yeah, I seem to be having trouble waking up in the morning. This is Murphy's law. During the summer, I will pop up at 4 am for no reason. Once I *have* to start waking up again that early, I want to lounge til 7.

Kristi :: that would be GREAT if we can get a group to go to Vegas! I have a trip in November and later in December, but the flights out there are cheaper than I've ever seen them, so it's just too tempting. I've never requested two days back-to-back, though, so I don't know how that will be received. To get this low fare, I would need to fly in on Saturday the 1st and return on Tuesday the 4th. Will have to see what happens. So what was iTread and Tush like? Sounds good if it gave you DOMS!

For those planning on or considering LV, whereabouts would you be thinking of staying? On the strip or off?

~Cathy http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/4.gif

Hey guys!

Shelly-I would love to do Vegas, but I just can't swing the cost right now! OH....what fun that would be!

Rain continues here also. It's supposed to move out later today, but we'll see how that goes!

Quickie post......date last night was fun. Saw The Bourne Ultimatum. Good movie...good company, what else can a girl ask for, right?

This morning's workout is done: IMax 3 and S&H Shoulders.

Time to shower!

Gayle

Good morning cheetahs

Amy..you have been logging in some long days.

Wendy...your colored text is fun. Enjoy your weight workout.

Cathy...our schools started last Monday. I do hope I can work out this pain and it doesn't turn into a bad case of PF. Sounds like you are enjoying variations of that rotation. If it works stick with it..:)...Enjoy DM. Not sure yet where I would stay in Vegas. I sent a link of hotels to my sister and thought I'd let her decide but any suggestions would be great!

Kristi...I am glad you liked iTread! That is cool about the new dog Chelsea. She really is cute. I hope she gets along with your family and Sadie. My dog's name is Sadie also, but I bet she is smaller than yours. That would be so fun if you and DH could come to LV! I do hope I can get rid of this pain before LV and be able to run , but we will see how things go. Have fun with S&A.

Shelly...how was the interval run and B&G yesterday? I do hope I caught the heel pain in time. I got the Chi Running book and have started reading it. Very interesting. I do believe that also strengthening your foot can be important for injury prevention. I look at PF as about the worst injury for a runner. Yes my sister and I have about the same personality, I always say I am a bit more ornery. We also have the same voice, which can be fun.

Gayle...I'd like to see that movie. Good workout today.

Jackie...I hope the heel is good too. I have been massaging it a lot with a golf ball, and icing it. Sounds like you enjoyed the iTread.

Christine...sounds like the NY trip was fun! I know how weird the time zone thing is. When I was in NJ I stayed on Calif time so I was always up early...:)...I can see why you skipped the run as jetlag can take the energy right out of you.

Elaine...so for cardio are you just biking? Great deal on the recumbent bike!! I was looking at a few Nordic track ones at Sear's. I do hope I caught this early. My PT says to ice, ice, ice and my chiro says to massage it hard with the golf ball. I am also doing barefoot exercises from the links I posted to you yesterday to strengthen my feet. At the RT Cathy mentioned that maybe a cheetah GTG would be fun in LV when Shelly runs the marathon. I know some cannot go but if you can, that would be awesome. At this point I don't know if I will be running but I will probably go to cheer Shelly on.

Judy...I appreciate any advice! Especially someone who has been there...at this point the bad is not bad at all. I have been icing and massaging my heel. I know a trigger point for massage is your calf and I have been rolling that out on my roller. I have only just read about the shoe. The concept is that running barefoot will strengthen your feet and weak feet can be a big cause of any foot injury. I did check out the insert site...Thanks...:)

Marcia..glad to hear the flooding has receded. I can only imagine the mess. Good job with C&B.

I am doing GS Chest & back, and I might try a short run, or just not do any cardio today.

Have a great day..

Good morning everyone!

Gayle - Congratulations on getting the job! How many hours a day will this be?

Christine - Glad you had a safe trip to and from NY. Bet Jimmy was glad to see you.

Shelly - How was your run? Did you get DOMS? Glad DH didn't hurt himself or that Harley. Yesterday was more of an easy run. Since I normally keep my treadmill set at 2% incline, the hills weren't so bad with Grace. Most of the time I don't take the incline as high as she suggests. LV would be nice but just not a good time. Maybe next time. Know you will do an awesome job!

Elaine - How was class? Congratulations on getting the great deal on a bike!

Judy - Hope all went well with DS and his wisdom tooth. Bet he enjoyed that soup mom made.

Wendy - Good job with iTread #5. Your posts are very colorful. How fun! What workout did you choose to do?

Kristi - Glad you enjoyed the iTread. They just seem to take the boredom out of running and motivate you to really push it. Good luck with getting a new dog. She is really a cutie. I like iTread 7. It has hills and speed increases but no sprints.

Marcia - I just read that we had a carrier to get killed in some flooding but I can't remember which city it was in.

Cathy - Glad to see you back. You were missed girl! Congratulations on the inches gone!! You rock!!

Amy - You have enough to keep you busy working 11 hours a day. Don't worry about personals. Hope you can get a good night's rest. Enjoy your day with the kiddies.

Laurie - Did you sleep well last night?

Carole - Hope the icing and rolling on the golf ball get rid of the pain. I've heard about running barefoot to strengthen muscles in your feet that don't normally get used running. Enjoy your workout.

I did iTread #21 Intervals. Loved it. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be but it was tough. Then it was on to Core Max 2 and Total Body Stretching Basic stretch.

Have a wonderful day!

Jackie

Mornin' Cheetahs!

Let me just jump right in.

Cathy, I've never visited LV and not stayed on the strip except for once when we stayed in the old part of town which has been revamped somewhat but if you stray out of the area even 1/2 a block it can become quite seedy. Whooee that was a mouthful!

Carole, Yeah, If other Cheethas will be showing up I'll go to LV whether I am running or not. I'd love to be in shape to run the 1/2 but at this point I'm not putting my money on it by signing up. Did I ever tell you about my wonderful SD RnR experience last June??? That was just lovely. (If you could hear my voice you'd easily detect the sarcasm) I am mainly using my exercise bike for cardio. If I had easy access to a pool I'd swim too, but I don't. Actually, I am going to hop on my elliptical for about 30 minutes today. I also have been massaging, icing and stretching but admit that I tend to slack off when I start noticing improvement. Apparently that's not a good thing because it starts to get a little bit more sore when I don't keep up with tending to it with extreme diligence.

Shelly, Well, I'll believe you when you say my foot WILL get better! I'm all excited about a LV roadtrip and finally meeting some more Cheetahs. That's right around my b'day and a trip away with ya'll would be an excellent gift. I am sure my DH will agree!;-)

Judy, How long did you deal with PF before you licked it? Does it ever flair up now? When I get busy I tend to not take the time to baby it so much and that might be a big part of my problem. The thing that scares me is when I read other forums where people are discussing PF and some posters have said that they have had it for *years*!

Jackie, How was class you ask? Well, the subject is Intro to Law and I mistakenly thought that it would be an easy class but I don't think that is going to be the case. The teacher will be assigning lots of reading and writing. Also, I thought that the focus would be on the facts of law but, no, it seems that she has put together a curriculum that blends certain law cases, sociology and political science. She mentioned that her ideology will become apparent as the class goes on and that she encourages those that disagree with her to speak up. SIGH! For some reason I get the feeling that we are on the opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to social/political views. Aren't you glad you asked?

Gayle, So are you dating someone exclusively or playing the field?

Hi to Christine, Amy, Wendy and any and everyone else!

Editing to add my workout plans for today since this is a fitness forum! :7 I'm going to do 30 minutes elliptical, Squats and lunges from PLB, B&G floor and abs!

Cathy - DH said that he wants me to go and have a good time. In the next month I will know if I can afford to go and if I am ready to run another HM. When I went to Vegas in 2001 I stayed at Mandalay Bay. It is an awesome hotel. If I go this time I would like to stay on the strip so everything is accessible. I don't want to rent a car if I don't have to.

H Friends!

Elaine - I nursed PF once on each foot for a good 6-9 months. The big turn around for me happened when I became diligent with the stretching and non impact cardio. I experienced twinge of PF pain once since then, but the immediate diligent stretching routine eliminated it with in a week or two, no kidding.

Shelly -I would love to go meet the Cheetahs in LV ,but I am actually going to Lake Las Vegas Sept 7-10 with DH. He will be there a little longer for a review course for his Cardiology boards. (Cardiologists have to retest every 10 years) Any way it is not practical for me to go back in December with family commitments and all.

Carole- Have you talked with your Chiropractor about PF? Did you write that you are reading Chi Running? The Chi principles make my runs less effort filled when I remember to concentrate on them. Today I really remembered to go with the fast strides / minute and short stride length and I actually caught my self running at a low 8 minute pace several times during my 4 mile run.

Wendy- Enjoy your weight wo today. ME was fun yesterday !

Gayle- Are you getting ready for the new school year and position? Was this a 'first date' ?

Cathy - Your classroom pictures looked very inviting. My freshman and junior are doing some of their required reading now.

Today was a 4 mile run.

I’m back – getting caught up slowly but surely. I have some phone calls to make, but decided I’d take a break to check in with y’all!

Kristi – iTread n Tush? Is it a good one? I’m going to start doing the iTreads more. The scare me though. LOL. Chelsea? Is this a new dog? Do you have pics? I can’t wait to “meet” her.

Cathy – When does school officially start? I know I’ve asked that before. I’m happy for your kids that they have such a great teacher waiting for them!

Gayle – Glad you enjoyed your date! I’m blowing hard so the rain moves out (I’m always being accused of being a blow hard anyway… :p)

Carole – I sooo hope you’re feeling better soon! PF is NOT fun! Yep, jet lag sucks!

Jackie – oh yeah, Jimmy launched himself into my lap and would not move for 10 minutes while I hugged and pet him. Goofy mutt! Nice to be welcomed like that though! My DH mumbled, “Glad you’re home” and rolled over and went back to sleep. Glad you enjoyed iTread 21.

Elaine – great to hear from you! Sorry you’re still injured! Hope it goes away soon! You’re running inspires me, but you’re an inspiration no matter what you do.

Judy – sounds like you had a great workout!

I got some sad news. One of the girls I went through school with (I’ve known her since we were 4) got a call about her 40 year old brother in Pensacola Florida. Her brother was in a motorcycle accident and is in critical condition. He was not expected to make it, but he passed the 72 hour mark and is stabilizing. Prayers are welcome. His name is Danny Fisher. His girlfriend, who was on the back of the bike, was killed. Ironically, my Aunt was killed on a motorcycle in Pensacola Florida as well. Shelly – don’t you dare ride in that area!!!

Hey guys. Just a quickie post for me.

First, Maybe I'll check into the cost of flying to Vegas. Like Elaine, I'm not sure if I'll be HM-ready by then, but MAYBE if the price is right for the flight (not to mention the room and stuff), I MAY consider coming out in support of our Cheetah-runners!

Second, to answer a few questions from above:
The guy I went out with....it was like our 3rd date. And he's been over to my house several times in between. I'm not one to really 'play the field', so to speak. When I do something...I jump in with BOTH feet. I tried to play the field at first, but I kept feeling guilty. It just felt wierd, ya know? I asked him last night and he is NOT seeing anybody else, told him that was fine with me but that if he happened to meet somebody else that he wanted to rget to know, he just needs to let me know...we'd go from there. But for now....I'm HAVING FUN!

School starts 2 weeks from yesterday. I'll be working 3 hours a day. The thing that makes me very happy about them giving me this job is that I was completely upfront at the interview about wanting to eventually go full time in the school. HAPPY DANCE!

Gayle

Hey Cheetahs.

I'm here for personals then off for a quick nap before my work out. :D

Cathy: Yes, I am always in search of the next work out that will give me DOMS!}( Hope you enjoyed DM. That one is a butt-kicker for sure!

Shelly: OMG I would love to do Vegas this year but I just can't. Financially impossible at this point. Next year perhaps?

Christine: Oh gosh, don't remind me about the new work outs! I've barely delved into the LAST series! LOL Sorry about your bottomless pit episode yesterday but glad to know you are over it and moving on. Sorry to hear about your friend's brother. How tragic. Motorcycles are awesome fun but can be sooo very dangerous. The fact is that you are at a definate and HUGE disadvantage in an accident. :-( DH wants to get his liscense but keeps putting it off. He's not sure he wants a bike in NJ. Not the safest place to drive in the first place. x(

Kristi: So it sounds like DH liked Chelsea when he saw her alone? I hope she works out for you. So you got DOMS from TnT, huh? Even MORE incentive for me to grab it up one of these months!}(

Carole: So you are lookin' into LV in December, huh? Good for you! I'd love to join but I fear it's just not possible this year. Have a great work out!

Jackie: I haven't chosen my work out yet...still deciding! LOL Glad you enjoyed ITread 21!

Elaine: Have a great work out!

Judy: Enjoy your run!

Hey Ladies, today's workout was a mix of the step and blast from LIC and the Rhythmic Step Challenge. I finished with some balance work and about 20 minutes of hip/back/hamstring stretching.

Amy, you've been working too hard not to play a little;)

Wendy, enjoy your nap and workout (which ever one you decide on):)

Cathy, I love reading about your room prep and the thought you put into it. I wish there were more teachers like you:) Thanks for the kind comments regarding Faith's hair. It makes me happy to see her so happy. It was so much more a 'multi step process' than I realised, in the end I was only $20. out of pocket for it. What a great deal!

Shelly, you are doing a great job of rallying the troops to Las Vegas. I'll be there in spirit with all you high mileage cheetahs:)

Christine, I hear you about starting to feel human again. Only good thing about the funk I've been in is that my appetite is not as hearty as usual:) I will certainly be keeping your friend's brother and his girlfriend's family in my prayers. So sad:(

Kristi, hope everything works out and that you can adopt Chelsea.

Gayle, glad you enjoyed the movie and the company.:) I haven't seen any of the Bourne movies but so many people rave about them.

Carole, I applaud your commitment to self care and injury management. Ornery, committed, tenacious, determined, stubborn, call it what you will but you have it in spades!;) :7

Jackie, I slept pretty good last night. I'm learning that there maybe sleep 'aids' out there but nothing comes close to natural sleep.:) I had a massage last night which helped me feel more balanced so that was good too.

Elaine, sounds like an interesting, challenging class. Is this a new area of study for you?

Judy, have things cooled down around Rochester? The winds on this side of the lake have turned decidedly 'fallish'. Makes for some refreshing runs:)

The chiropractor at the clinic I used to work at is being a jerk about paying out some unfinished treatment plans that should be transferred to my new clinic. The money is from the insurance company for the insured and held in trust by him until I give the treatments. He has mastered the art of toeing the ethical line. He plays dirty but I refuse to stoop to his level. I hate doing it but I've had to let him know that I have no trouble reporting his boundry crossing to the Chiropactic College of Ontario. Haven't heard his rebuttal but he's the bully who caves when someone has the b@lls to stand up to him. It's just so petty and I am in no mood for his BS...grrrrr...... *end of vent* :)

Take Care
Laurie

Hey everyone, another quick post for now. I was so glad to see Tony during Chest and Back yesterday that I did Plyometrics this morning. Whew....I was dripping wet with sweat - LOVE IT! I was up at 4:30AM and was so tired, I just sat there and drank coffee for almost 30 minutes to wake up enough to workout, craziness......:+

Tonight I'm grocery shopping for good stuff ;-)

Marcia.

Afternoon, cheetah babes :)

Changed up the plan for today. After the chiro, I went in to school to meet with the principal about something and decided to stick around and finish up my classroom. It’s basically ready to go, with just a few minor things left to do. Those can wait until our opening days. I’m glad to have it out of the way. It was NOT so easy fitting all my schtuff into such cramped quarters. I can see I’m going to have to keep up with my filing, though, because there’s no place for any piles to accumulate! *lol*

DM still awaits, but I need a bit of downtime first.

Gayle :: glad you are having fun and just going with the flow. I'm not much of a playa myself. There's been one time - BRIEFLY - where I was trying to date three guys at once. Then I started screwing up their names. Oops. *lol*

Carole :: I’ve only been to Vegas once…Stayed on the strip at the Monte Carlo. Enjoyed it there, but I know it has changed so much in the past few years. I am open to staying anywhere reasonable…I’m keepin’ my fingers crossed for you that this heel pain disappears. Did you wind up going for a short run?

Jackie :: thanks! Often when I read your workouts, it makes me want to try something else. *lol* CoreMax is another one that has gathered some dust for me. Do you follow a particular rotation or do you make up your mind on a daily basis?

Elaine :: Interesting approach by your professor. I am of the mindset that you should not press your own idealogy with your students but present all the information and allow them to decide for themselves…sounds like it would be best to stay on Strip.

Kristi :: woohoo! Glad DH gave it the thumbs up. I should also know by the middle of next month whether or not I’ll get approved for the days…I think I asked this, but I could be losing my mind…:)…what is the iTread n’ Tush like? It piqued my interest.

Judy :: thanks! Did your kids get a lot of summer reading to do?

Christine :: OMG, what terrible news about your friend’s brother and his girlfriend. And your aunt. I’m sorry to hear that his girlfriend and your aunt lost their lives. I hope that he will pull through it…Aww, thanks. :) Teachers go back the day after Labor Day.

Wendy :: read about your nap and felt my eyes go to half-mast. The power of suggestion. :) I’ve noticed, though, if I nap too late in the afternoon, I am groggy when I wake up. This weather doesn’t help, either. I’d better not!

Laurie :: thank you! :)…Wow - $20! Fantastic!…Sorry to hear your former boss (was he considered your boss? I’m not sure) is being so difficult and petty but glad you stood up to him. Let us know what happens. It'll be nice to close that ugly chapter!

Marcia :: good job with Plyo at that ungodly hour!!! Rock on!

LV GTG cheetahs :: When were you all thinking of arriving/leaving LV? The HM/marathon is on Sunday. For me, the best airfare I’m seeing out of Philly would have me there from Saturday – Tuesday.

Wendy – DH hasn’t seen her yet. We decided to go as a family and see how she reacts to the kids. The place only does visitation/adoptions on Thursday evenings (5-8) and mid-day on Saturdays (1-4). They are 100% volunteer. Yeah I got DOMS from itread n tush. I’m surprised. I didn’t think I would. My lower butt area is still a little sore even now. Give it a try.

Laurie – Thanks for the well wishes in adopting Chelsea. We will see how it goes. If she is meant to be a member of our family then everything will go well.

Carole – What kind of dog is your Sadie? Any pics you would like to share?

Christine – iTread n Tush set 19 was a good one. I still have DOMS. That itread is the first one I have tried. They intimidated me too at first, but for such a low price they are worth a try. I also have set 11 40 min. that I need to try. Chelsea is a springer spaniel we are looking into adopting. Here is the link with her info: http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=7863861 I’m looking forward to having a running partner.
