Good morning, cheetahs~~~ http://s228.photobucket.com/albums/ee296/runninteach/th_happy-038.gif
How are we doing today?
Gloria ~~~ I found myself nodding my head as I read your post. I think kids from lower-socioeconomic backgrounds tend to have the pro athlete dream more. I saw that a lot in my old school, especially among the basic skills kids. I'm jealous of your weather--things are getting hot & humid here again. Back to the soup!I don't love city driving, but the big city races can be fun. The crowd helps, IMO, with longer distances.
Wendi ~~~ no snickers here. I watch DWTS. Yes, I did get in my ab work in the evening. Lucky me, now I'm sore EVERYWHERE! :7 Did you see my question about the college visit. How'd it go?
Christine ~~~ oh, oops! I misread your post. I think you are going to be OK for the race. If you're not feeling tip-top, you can always treat it as a training ride. Or if you think you might risk injury, there is no shame in not riding. This race did creep up quickly! Either way, you have our support. Hope today you're feeling better.
Carole, Christine, Posh ~~~ any update for us on the fire/smoke situation? I'm a little concerned we haven't heard from Posh--hope she's OK.
Today's workout will probably be k'bells, some light work on the EXT or a walk, and stretching. Yesterday afternoon, my calves tightened up on me in a major way. I realized I'd absent-mindedly forgotten to stretch (DUH! http://s228.photobucket.com/albums/ee296/runninteach/grouch/th_duh.gif ) after my morning run. Coupled with Monday's calf work, this was not good. I foam rolled for about an hour last night, trying to work out some of the knots, which helped some, but they are still pretty stiff. I really did a number on myself.
Hope everyone has a terrific Thursday! BBL--
