Good morning, cheetahs! :) Yes, I’m off but am still on work time. Which is not bad as I’d like to go for an early run. I don't even know what's on my rotation today - I just gotta get out there!

Sunny :: yes, I did try Flat Abs – good stuff!…No big vacations – maybe a short road trip here or there. I went overseas two summers in a row (’05 and ’06), so I’m due for a low-key summer!

Wendy :: If the race starts at 9, I will probably leave 7:15ish. I have to go re-read Shelly’s PM to see where our meeting spot is…lol about DH’s pb comment…I agree cat naps are the way to go…if I nap TOO long, sometimes I can’t shake the grogginess after.

Laurie :: hope you enjoyed the 6K. Nothing like a good run to work out things in your mind. Good for you for holding strong with negotiations…agree about the guilt.

Jackie :: Love that line: “Sometimes our bodies know more about what we need than our minds.” So true! Do you ever do your iTreads outside?

Shelly :: I enjoy running in a light rain if it’s warm outside, but I’m with you – if it’s raining hard or if it’s chilly, I bag it…Now you know why I was raving like a lunatic re: Squeeze :)…yes, it will be a much lighter workload! So, my doc and I have decided to up my meds again (to the dosage that left me a bit too fatigued earlier in the winter). I’m thinking I can handle it now without the usual FT work schedule. Hope I'm right!

Carole :: YES!!! No more grading. It’s a beautiful thing. Next year, I will be smarter about when I assign/collect things. Being in grad school sometimes got me backed up with things. I’m not much into fishing, but I love being on a boat and soaking up the sun and fresh air. Sounds like a great time. Did you take any pics of Sadie swimming?

Heather :: glad you liked the RW website…there is a great section for beginners/those returning to running…Yeah, I give Jari a 2…but that’s just my opinion…the w/out would be fine but this is one instance where the instructor (and all her carb-burning factoids and pump-me-ups) grate me somehow – enough that I rarely reach for those. I agree with the descriptions of BBC – I think of it as the Hollywood endurance version of the X. All the beautiful people working out.

Hi Jess, Gayle, and Marcia!

Have a great day, everyone!!
Cathy :)

Good morning lovely cheetahs,

up early to teach my 6am bootcamp class!
today i am doing a kickbox class at the YMCA and also some type of fullbody workout. haven't decided which as of yet.

cathy- early morning runs are the best!

wendy- i hate the waiting 4-6 weeks thing. it just seems so long when you are anxiously awaiting for big news :D . thanks for the xflowsion info and the pB website. i've decided to try isculpt ballet next week. hopefully i will like at least one:p

have a great day ladies!!

Just came back to tell Wendy & Shelly that the weather is supposed to be 84 and nice on Sunday - humidity shouldn't kick in until the workweek. Yay!

Sunny :: yeah, that is what I miss most about my pre-teaching days - the ability to run in the morning before work! Have fun kicking butt today!

~Cathy :)

G'morning Cheetahs!! I just got back from a 3.25 mile run + 200 walking lunges w/ my buddies. (well, they ran & then walked as I lunged :p ) And Legs & Back + ARX on tap for later, I'll be feelin' my legs tomorrow! :)

Well, we're going to the Dr. yet again this morning. Not for Kiersten though, Hannah has a strange rash all over her body- not raised or bumps, just red & itchy. I don't think she's gotten into anything (it's not poison ivy), so I'm not sure what it is. I gave her some Benadryl which at least seemed to help the itching. I might have the Dr. look at Kiersten too as she's still complaining on & off about a headache.

Then I hope we can go swimming at the pool!!! We have a brand new pool to use (it's a perk of my dh's job- yeah!) & the girls are dying to go!

Cathy ~ Yeah for being done!! Of course you're still up early! Hope you enjoy your run. Did you ever find a summer job?

Sunny ~ Enjoy your Y workouts today! I feel bad that I have my Y membership & haven't been in ages! It's too hard to go w/ the girls, Hannah's a bit big for daycare there & I hate going in the evenings. I know I'll be using it like crazy in the fall again though!

Wendy ~ You are such an enabler!! LOL I've read about the PB2. I'm addicted to Naturally More Peanut Butter (http://www.peanutsnack.com/index.html ). I get it at Super Wal*mart. It only has 11g fat & 10g protein for 2 T. I love to stir 1 T. in my oatmeal - yum!

Speaking of oatmeal, I just finished mine. I think I'll go ahead & do L & B to get it out of the way for the day! Have a good one!

Hi Cheetahs

I wrote a long reply with personals yesterday and when I posted it, it disappeared! After a few replies on the open discussion forum, I ran out of time.

Over on the <--- thread, I just had a review of what has been keeping me busy, I won't repeat it here, but the scheduled 2 mile easy run for yesterday did not happen.

My DD, who is living in Manhattan, participated in a Fluidity class at the gym she belongs to and she rated it as really effective. She said the creators of Fluidity were there and they used the prototype bars in the class. plus the class was included in her gym fees. Cool! I'm going to install a bar and mirror in the new WO area. DD said we need to have the bar at least 6" from the mirror. Any of you who have done fluidity, does that sound right with the DVD workout too?

Jes- I hope you find out what is causing the rash!

Cathy- I agree about running in the morning, I put my run off yesterday to take care of some pressing issues, and before I knew it the day was over.

Wendy, Shelly and Cathy- Are you meeting up this weekend?

Did we see a "Barb sighting" at all yesterday on her birthday?

If you fail to plan, then you plan to fail.

Hey guys. Quickie post yet again for me. My workout ran a bit longer than expected, now I have to rush thru the shower/hair/dress/get the kids out the door routine! LOL

This morning was BBC Shoulders and Arms, plus the treadmill cardio. WOW WOW WOW! This is my favorite one so far (of the 3 that I've tried). This TM workout was downright HARD! Intervals with increasing incline, then decreasing incline with increasing speed, then all-out sprints. I topped out at a 6:45 mile for the last section of sprints. What an awesome 28 minute run that was. The weight section was great too. I like getting some different moves from these workouts. I've got DOMS in my entire chest from yesterday, and I'm LOVIN it! LOL

OK...must dry my hair, then eat. Get kids to the Rec Program, then off to clean my friend's house. After that, it's a quiet summer day with the boys. We're going to make homemade strawberry ice cream later, then hit the town pool for a few hours. Grilling something tonight for dinner. LOVE the grill! OH! And my zucchini are growing like crazy. Another week and I should be plucking my first fresh home-grown veggie! YEAH!

Gayle

p,.s. Sorry for no personals again!

Good morning all! It's a beautiful day here on the Jersey Coast:7
DH has been dropping hints like crazy that he wants to move here.
I don't know.... it is beautiful here but crazy also:eek: I'm really at heart a West Coast gal. Anyway, I was up early and eager for a nice long run. I ended up going for 8.5 miles and could easily have gone further but decided to reign it in since I'm racing next Sunday with two wonderful fellow cheetahs;-) Yesterday I did a 3 miler in the early evening. I don't usually run outside at that time but it felt good.... not as good as in the early morning though.

Cathy- So you woke up with that wonderful urge to run? Fantastic!!!
I noticed the weather forecast for PineBeach myself last night. Couldn't ask for better:7 BTW, I hope you don't start taking the higher dose of your med until AFTER the race;-) I do think you're right though, you'll be able to handle it much better without the full work schedule this time.

SunnyD- You sure do have your act together with your goals and doing what you love!!! I've talked with DH about checking out the Carolinas next summer and he definitely sounds interested.... maybe it'll change his mind about moving here;-) I do like visiting here but I just couldn't take it 24/7 year round.

Wendy- Where are you this morning? I plan on arriving at the PineBeach5k around 0800. The race doesn't begin until 0900 but I like getting there early to get good parking and get in a warm up run. Let me know when you plan on being there so I know when to start looking for ya!

Jess- Don't you just hate those mystery rashes? I hope your doc can pinpoint the cause, your poor little DD must be so miserable:(
Great job on you run/lunge combo today.... awesome leg day for ya!

Judy- I just hate it when I lose a long post with personalsx( I've been hearing alot about the Fluidity workouts myself and am intrigued. I am concerned though that the intensity wouldn't be very high. I'm meeting up with Cathy and Wendy this Sunday for the PineBeach 5k on the Jersey Shore, near Toms River. I am so excited.... not about the race but about meeting these two! Wish you could be there!!!!!!

Gayle- So you experienced the Joey workout! This is the funnest of the BBC workouts IMO. You're right about the TM workouts, I didn't know I was capable of running at a pace under 7:00 until I tried these workouts! They really do push you.

Marcia- How did your long run go today?

I think that about catches me up. It'll be more fishing for DH and I today:) Tomorrow we head back up north again to meet up with Ma and Pa;-)

ShellyC

Just enjoyed a slow but good 3+ mile run. There’s no humidity – it was simply perfect! I’m going to get showered up and do some early shopping before kicking back and VEGGING the rest of the day.

Jess :: hope the girls both feel better and can enjoy the pool…yes, I’ve secured summer work…I will be doing curriculum writing as well as some tutoring.

Judy :: lost posts have happened to me lately, too – frustrating!…How awesome for DD to take a live Fluidity class!! I hope to do some more now that my time frees up a bit in the summer. I have not been able to get to it in a long time!…Re: the barre itself and how far to have it from the mirror, that sounds like a logical distance, but since the barre that comes with Fluidity is free-standing, I couldn’t say with absolute authority…Yes, Wendy, Shelly, and I are meeting up for a 5K…and no, Barb did not check in. Hope she enjoyed her day.

~Cathy :)

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy...I had not been fishing in years. DH and I have been thru some tough times and I thought it might be good to reconnect so to speak..:)...My DH had his camera but completely forgot about taking pics. I would have liked one of Sadie on this floating long log that resembled a skinny surfboard. I hope you enjoy your run if you get out there...:)

Heather...way to go ordering BBC, you cannot go wrong with that price.

Wendy....somehow I can hear my DH making exactly the same comment about PB2!!! I can take short naps 15-20 min but if I go longer I still feel groggy like Cathy said.

Sunny..I liked Amy's hi/lo X. But I have to say Cathe does explain moves a lot better than Amy. Very tricky choreography but in time I know I will get it! I am lucky to live near 2 very pretty lakes. I hope your Bootcamp class goes well...

Jess...hope you all get in some swimming! Enjoy L&B and ARX.

Judy...that is not fun you lost your post. I type mine up in Notepad but I know once I somehow closed it and lost all my replies...:(

Gayle...BBC S&A was my favorite too. Think it was something to do with looking at Joey...:)..Don't we just love DOMS!

Shelly...sounds like your 8.5 mile run went very well! I can barely run in the afternoon, my legs feel like lead. Mornings are so much better..:)..Have fun fishing and then time with Ma & Pa...

I am doing Amy's APX legwork, abs, a 5 mile run and then Pilates. Glad I go into work late...:)

Have a great day...

Shelly :: missed your post while I was posting. How funny that DH wants to move here! Most people are getting out! Now don't get me wrong - I love Jersey - warts and all - probably b/c I grew up here and am used to some of the "quirks." But I do think it's unusual for someone from out-of-state to find it appealing. Some of the more serious issues to make him think twice? Car insurance and property taxes are WAY out of control, and I read recently that the entire state is likely to be completely built up within 50 years. I'm sure he knows all this, though, since his parents live here.

Yes, the good 'ol itch - it's usually there, but between the humidity and my schedule/energy level after work lately, it hasn't quite gelled. As much as I loved doing the X, the scaled-back cardio cost me some endurance, and I somewhat regret not running as much in the spring. BUT it was good to do something different, and I have all summer to build up again. I do believe it (running) will be the key to weight loss. Re: the meds...I started the higher dose almost a week ago. I don't think it will impact me in the race at all. (I'd be slow either way. *lol*) Previously, when I attempted this dosage level, I was working FT, taking two grad classes, and doing the X, and it was mostly during the work week when I really felt it. The upped dosage will hopefully allow me to get off this stuff sooner!

Oops, now I missed Carole's post.

Carole :: glad you & DH were able to reconnect. How cute - I can just picture Sadie "surfing."

~Cathy :)

Good morning Carole! Yes, my run felt so good today! Like Cathy said, the weather in Jersey this morning is perfect, with relatively low humidity. There was this young dude running the same road as yours truly this morning and I was progressively gaining on him. When I was about 5 feet back he suddenly turned around.... I don't think he wanted to have this granny pass him;-) He gave me a very grudging kind of wave.

wooohooo , what a workout for you today:eek: I can't wait to meet up with you in August:7 :7 :7

ShellyC

Hey Cathy- keep up with the running through the summer and you'll be mean and lean! Well, maybe just lean, no way can you ever be mean;-)
Yes, DH is well aware of the tax situation here. We live on 11 acres in Arizona and we don't even pay half of the property taxes that his parents do! DH says... well, it's a tradeoff. I personally don't think that living near or on the water is worth it that much though!

Shelly

Cathy...thanks..:)..next time I will take my camera and take pics!!!

Shelly...great story about the young dude. I loved beating those youngsters in marathons...:D...August is getting closer and I can hardly wait!

Good morning ladies!

Shelly - You did Core Syn and BBC Total Body? You do love torture!;) Do you think you would be a fish out of water in Jersey? Great 8.5 mile run! Enjoy your fishing.

Heather - Hope you enjoy BBC!

Wendy - Laughing at DH and his comment about powdered PB! LOL!! Did he try it yet?

Gayle - Glad things went well for your friend.

Sunny - I see Wendy gave you the website address. I say try it the first time and if you like it well enough order more jars the second time and save on that shipping. Cool It Off is 30 minutes long. I love it after a run. How did class go today?

Cathy - I use the iTread Outdoors when I run outside if I'm doing 6 or 7 miles. They're about 60 minutes long. If my runs are longer, I'll choose a playlist. Hey, I found this radio station that plays some really old tunes but they have great beats for running. I've been downloading some of the music and plan on using it on my next run longer than 7 miles.

Jess - Great workout today! An itchy rash is the pits! Hope the girls feel better.

Judy - How cool that your daughter got to do a Fluidity class. I always look at the infomercial with great interest but know I don't need another piece of equipment.

Carole - Sounds like you have a monster workout planned today. Hope you enjoy it.

I did BBC Shoulders and Back. Got to work out with Joey. Was glad to see him again. Got in 3.5 miles and the weight work. Always love the standing abs in this one. I usually feel it the next day.

Have a great day everyone!

Jackie

Hey All - I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I ran my long run of 5 miles this morning. There was a severe storm going through, so I waited 30 minutes to go (good time to drink my coffee ;-) ) After the storm the weather was great - blue sky with a light overcast of clouds, but extremely humid - OMG........!! I couldn't believe it. Breathing was tough, but that wasn't going to stop me }( I feel absolutely awesome and ready for the weekend away now that my long run is over with. I will try really hard to get in some powerwalks and maybe if I'm lucky a short run, too, while we are gone up north.

As you all know, I'm trying really hard to lose weight, too, and even though I'm not upset about this, but I've been working out 6 days a week for at least an hour (if not twice a day) and nothing-absolutely nothing. No weightloss no inches lost-nothing?? That baffles me completely. I'm not depressed about it, though, because I 'feel' so much better. I just wish I'd see some progress in that area, too, that would really motivate me.

Marcia.

Hey Ladies:) Quickie check in for me. It's 18 y.o. Elizabeth's prom day...she is sooo excited. We're outta here in 30 minutes to get her make up and hair done at the spa where I work. I'll post pictures of her tomorrow. I'm so excited for her...there's been such a flurry of energy through here with her friends coming over and calling and arranging everything, I love teenagers:)!!! Her date is my best friend's son Jacob, I love that they have such a great friendship, they rolled around together as babies, I turned my head, blinked and they grew up on us:) I'm such a sentimental sap:+
My workout today was awesome, IMAX3, B-Max2 U/Bx2 (back, shldrs, biceps) and AbRipperX which a client loaned me. I'll give it back to him on Saturday then he'll lend me YogaX...loved AbRipper, sure gets in there and I was able to do most of it. Nice to do some new exercises.
I'd better get my Dolly down to the spa for what is promising to be a day she'll never forget!

Take Care
Laurie

Good morning cheetahs! I hope everyone is doing okay. I'll try to catch up with everyone next week. So far this week is not going as planned at all. :-( I've had every intention of starting back with exercising, since I took last week off as a rest week. However, life has gotten in the way big time.

Monday was going to be my first day back on track. When I went left work to go to lunch, my normal exercise time, I got within 2 steps from my treadmill when my cell phone rang. Very few people have my cell phone number so I knew it was important. It was my DH calling me to tell me DD was throwing up at daycare. Needless to say, I called my work immediately to tell them I was not coming back and would have to take a 1/2 sick day and then left my house to pick DD and DS up. I didn't even make it back home before DD was sick again. She was sick 4 more times but by dinner time she was perfectly fine. However, our daycare has a rule that if a child is sick and has to be picked up, the parent has to wait 24 hours after the symptoms are gone before they can return. So Tuesday, DH took off 1/2 day sick that morning to watch DD and I took 1/2 a sick day that afternoon.

Wednesday I had to take a sick day again, but this time for myself. I must have got a part of what DD had because from 1 a.m. Wednesday morning until 11:30 a.m. I was throwing up EVERY hour. I've never been so sick in my entire life. My body was so sore I could barely more. Finally the fever broke around 9 p.m. The worst part is I couldn't even celebrate DS's 5th birthday with him yesterday. All I could do was lay down on the landing of our stairs and watch DS open his presents on the couch. I didn't want him to be around me and possibly catch what I had. However, DH called me this morning and told me he thinks he has what I had.

Anyway, today during lunch I won't be exercising either. I will be washing bed linens and the kid's clothes. This weekend my inlaws are taking my kids for the whole week. I'm excited for them because they will have a great time, but I will miss them. Oh, well, it will give DH and me a much needed break especially after the way this week is shaping up.

I'm sorry this post is so self-centered. I'll try to do better next week and catch up with everyone one.

Have a great day!

Hi Cheetahs!

I have to admit it is a bit daunting to log in and see 17 messages already! Oh well… I’ll take a stab at it. Did a Spinervals Mish Mosh yesterday (Zoot Challenge and the rolling hills from Hillacious). And today I did B&G Abs with some floorwork followed by Spinervals Have Mercy 2 – the tempo (steady) rides. I’m pleasantly beat. Love that feeling. I’m thinking I’ll do Viper tomorrow to get some step in. Sounds like fun!

Cathy – YEAH! You’re off! Are you working at all this summer? I’m so jealous of you meeting Wendy AND Shelly!

Sunny – how is BootCamp going? Sounds like you’re having fun.

Jess – I hope the doc clears everything and the girls are al feeling healthy for a long while! Enjoy your shaking legs!

Judy – I’m so tempted by all of these workouts – Fluidity… But I have to be good for a while. Spent too much getting my bike ready. Sounds like a great class your DD is in. Good for you for teaching her the right things!

Shelly – I love the East Coast – it’s so green and gentle in the scenery, but I don’t like the hustle and bustle there. The West is so much more laid back. So, I guess you could say I’m a West Coast girl, too. I’m glad you’re enjoying your running! Have fun with your Sunday Cheetah Run!!

Carole – wow! What a workout as usual! I’m so sorry he did not get the photo of Sadie – that would be adorable!!!

Marcia - WAY TO GO on the five miler! And you managed to run it in the humidity – wow! I know what you mean about the weight loss. I just can’t seem to get the scale to budge either. So, I’m your sister in that misery… Glad to know you’re feeling better though.

Jackie – I love the standing abs in S&B, too – it’s a great little workout over all.

Laurie – Oh, how fun!! I can’t wait to see the photos!! Enjoy your day with your daughter. How exciting for her!

Kristi – Sounds like a rough week – no worries about your post – it’s not self centered! I hope y’all are feeling better! I’m sorry you couldn’t celebrate your DS’s birthday. I do know how you feel about the kids and the grandparents. My DD used to spend a week or two with Grandpa every year, and while it gave DH and me a chance to go places we never did before, I missed her so much.

Well, I’m back to work. DD14’s BF is getting her into cycling, so it’s funny to hear her say that she needs padded bike shorts and this, and that… But I’m happy. So over lunch, it’s errand time (again!). Enjoy your day everyone!

Good Afternoon Cheetahs!

Sorry for neglectin' my girls this morning! I ran out of time before I could get over here!

I took my spin class this morning and then Joey and I went to the park for a bit before it was time to head home for lunch and nap time. Tonight we are off to mom's for a visit. :)

Cathy: So I guess you plan to be at the race by around 8:30 or so?

Sunny: How did your kickbox class go??

Jess: You inspired me to eat oatmeal with p/b this morning!:9 How do your legs feel after your leg killin' w/o this morning? So what's the verdict on your DD's rash?

Judy: Glad your DD liked the Fluidity class. Yes, Shelly, Cathy and I are going to do a 5k together in Toms River on Sunday!:+

Gayle: Busy Cheetah! GO GO GO! LOL

Shelly: If you move to the east coast then you, Cathy and I can have all kinds of fun together!}( :p ;) :7 I think I will aim to get to the race by 8:15. Sometimes lines can be long to check in as well as use the potty so I like to give myself some extra time. Besides, I'd like to have a chance to chat with you and Cathy before the race as well!:+

Carole: Wow, I haven't done pilates since I first got pregnant! I used to do it all the time but once I got too big for it I gave it up completely. Too many work outs, too little time!

Marcia: Good job on your 5 mile run this morning! You are making great progress!!!

Jackie: I was hard-pressed to get him to try the regular natural p/b. I don't think he will EVER try PB2! LOL I love Joey's standing ab work too!

Laurie: I found that Ab Ripper X (ARX for short) did things for my abs that no other ab work has done before! I really started seeing great core defintion while using that work out! Yoga X is a great work out but long. I rarely do it in full though I do enjoy it. So excited for you and your DD on prom day. How nice! I remember my prom. It's such an exciting time!

Kristi: Poor thing. What a week you had! Having the inlaws take the kids for a whole week sounds like exactly what you and DH need!!! Enjoy it! Take full advantage of the free time! Have fun!!!!

Christine: Great work out today! I am going to look up bike shops in my mom's area. I am going to see if I can leave Joey with her for a bit before dinner and head out for my spin shoes...FINALLY!!!! I had a heck of a time at class today because the only bikes available did not have the cages on them so I put them on (what a struggle!) and then realized that one of them was BROKEN! ACK! It was too hard to get off so I finally switched with a woman who had spin shoes and was on a bike with good cages. The shoes will make it soooo much easier!!!!
