::: CHEETAHS ::: Sunday ~ runnin' down a dream!

Cathlete
Good morning, cheetahs!!!

Jackie :: Good luck in today's race!! http://s228.photobucket.com/albums/ee296/runninteach/goodluck/th_clover-1.gif http://s228.photobucket.com/albums/ee296/runninteach/goodluck/th_horseshoe.gif http://s228.photobucket.com/albums/ee296/runninteach/goodluck/th_clover-1.gif http://s228.photobucket.com/albums/ee296/runninteach/goodluck/th_horseshoe.gif

Christine :: Glad you're feeling so strong after logging in 10 miles yesterday!!...Yes, that is so true about running. It can be unpredictable like that at times. I think I've had slightly tired legs since I've started WW, so I need to adjust my diet somehow and make sure I'm getting fueled properly. I'm allowed 23 pts. per day, which equates to about 1400 calories - not a lot. Typically, I earn anywhere from 2-6 pts. when I work out, so I can eat another 120-360 calories, but that still means I'm not consuming more than 1800 calories per day, and I'm burning some of that off...enjoy the new yoga vid!

Not sure why I'm up so early, but I do have schoolwork I need to do, so I'll take advantage of the early morning and try to bang it out. At some point, I'll be heading out for a run and will do some abs, too.

Have a GREAT day, everyone!!

Good morning Cheetahs! I'm always up dark and early before my races. Must be the excitement! :)

Cathy - Thanks for the good luck charms. Guess you couldn't sleep either, huh? Have a great run today. It's a little hotter than I thought it would be this weekend. But, at least, we get started before the sun rises.

Lorie - Glad you felt better and were able to go the game yesterday. My DD is a Tenn alum.

Judy - Love those fireplaces. Hate all the work. I do love to sit and watch the fire burn.

Carole - Sounds like the painting project is moving along well. Know everything will look great when finished.

Amy - How was apple picking?

Susan - Glad the hip is feeling better. Lazy days are nice sometimes.

Christine - Great job on the 10 miles! That's the way I feel about each mile that I can do just one more. Then you can't believe it's over.

Shelly - I was hoping to see your race report this morning but I see you're keeping us in suspense here. :) Know you did great!

Well, I still have a little time before I leave. Think I'll do some stretching.

Hello to all others.

Enjoy your Sunday!

Jackie

Jackie :: I couldn't sleep in yesterday, either, but I did wind up taking an hour nap in the middle of the day. Hope it's not too hot out there this morning. It was warmer than I expected out on my run y'day. Looking forward to your race report (and photos) later!!

It's gonna be warm here again, so I decided to head out early. A short 3 miles for me today. I will do the abs a little later.

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy good job on the 4.08 yesterday. I got up early too But then again 5 AM is fairly common for me! Hope you get the schoolwork done. It has been warm here too. Good job on the 3 miles today.

Jackie...Good luck today! I hope your 10 miles goes well...:)..Stretching is great before a race...

Amy...hope you got lots of apples.

Susan...I think Leaner Legs kills everyone! Good job though on B&G. We will still have some carpet. But it might not be for long as this laminate looks so nice.

Christine...http://bestsmileys.com/signs12/15.gif[/img] on the 10 miles yesterday!! It is very true about those last miles sometimes but you did it and that is what counts. I don't know about the water in Calif making the men (boys) not so nice. I should have seen this coming when we started this big project...So did you get a funky nail design??

So, we have these Oak trees that are dropping acorns ALL the time, it sounds like someone is throwing rocks at your house! I decided to lay out in the sun yesterday as it was about 77 and as I am laying there this acorn comes down (hard I might add) on my forehead...YEOW!! I have a slight bump!!!

I ditched the Kickbox workout yesterday and did DM but subbed my EXT for most of the cardio...it was very fun. Today I am planning a 10-12 mile run with my running friend.

Have a great day...:)

OK, so I'm quite the serial poster today, but I had to come back and share: tomorrow's my official weigh-in, but I weighed myself this morning & am happy to say I lost 5 lbs. this week! YAY! **happy dances around the room to burn more calories** (picture Elaine from Seinfeld)
http://s228.photobucket.com/albums/ee296/runninteach/happycelebrations/th_0466.gif

Carole :: *lol* about the acorn. Sorry you got popped in the forehead, though. My plans are done; now I just need to do the grading. I think I can reach my goal of getting it done before noon, so I can kick back some today. Enjoy your long run!!

Oh yeah, Susan :: I meant to say yesterday that LL *slaughters* me every time! I just love punishing myself w/ that one.

Hi Cheetahs!

Carole- How is your forehead today? So your beautiful laminate is tempting you to take up carpet? Well a hard floor can always be cleaner, especially with pets.

Cathy- We really do not expect to have warm running weather on Columbus Day weekend! I hope you beat the heat.

Jackie- Good Luck on you race!!!

Christine- did you say 10 miles?! Way to go! :7 How do yo feel today?

HI Susan and Amy!

This warm weather has not been good for my cooking ambition. Normally in the fall I am all for getting back into homemade family dinners simmering in the kitchen. I am going to force myself to make a nice dinner today. DH and DS have been away all weekend and will be happy to come home to a family dinner, as long as they can see a little football too.

The firewood is mostly stacked. There is just a ( big) pile of bark and small pieces mixed in with a large amount of dirt to be sorted out and saved for kindling. The lawn needs mowing today too, with a bag to catch the leaves that have fallen.

Today is a rest day. I really pushed hard with iTread this week. I'm thinking I may have overdone it. On my usual easy runs, I was focused on pushing pace. Yesterday I felt my hip twinge for the first time in a longtime. So the lesson here is not to push hard on every run. I did an extra yoga this week too. ( two total)

Have we heard for Shelly yet?

Judy :: enjoy today's rest day...sounds like a good plan in light of the hip pain...sorry 'bout that...Nope, no word from Shelly yet...I did beat the heat, thanks...BTW, I love the quote you have in your signature.

Good morning cheetahs! Sorry to keep you in suspense for a while. After I got home yesterday (it was late afternoon before I did) I was pretty much too exhausted to do much of anything. Anyway, I ran with the horses yesterday and had a ball! What an experience:7 :7
I ended up coming in 5 minutes after Janet and her mule Maddie but that was due to my own stupidityx( At about mile 21 or so I took a wrong turn and ended up going an extra mile before I realized my mistake and had to backtrack. So my 25 mile grueling trail run up and down a mountain turned into 27:eek: x( Well, my objective was to finish and have fun and that is exactly what I did:) :)

A short run down for ya... There were probably only about 30 runners total (not to many people are crazy enough to do this) and about 40 riders. We started out the first few miles running mostly along a wash which is tricky footing as there are alot of very soft areas and rocks as well. Then it left the wash and the trail went over rolling hills...(the easiest part of the course, but didn't last long). After about 7-8 miles the real fun began with a steady climb for the next 10 miles up Mingus Mountain. (Took lots of walking breaks here!) The descent I'm afraid really wasn't any easier since it was pretty steep, being half the distance of the climb-- about 5 miles. The trail was very narrow and rocky, quite treacherous!! And to add to the challenge I had to deal with horses all around me, or that is in front and back. The riders have to walk the horses downhill for the most part. I couldn't go much faster due to safety reasons... a jog at best but still, passing the horses was tricky to say the least. I would call out to the rider that I'm passing on the left or right. At one point I was passing (I was very tired at this point) And called out" Passing to your left, uh... I mean right..... Oh hell, I don't know where I am!"
I gave the riders a laugh anyway. It finally got relatively easy again at about mile 21 or mile22 but this is where I was so mentally fatigued I made my wrong turn. Unfortunately there were no other riders or runners around at the time to correct me x( Well, I finished my 27 mile run a tad over 5 hrs. I would have definitely finished alot closer to 4.5 hrs if I hadn't made the detour.

Well, this was beyond a doubt the toughest race I've ever done... also the most fun!!!! I'm actually not feeling too bad this morning considering. I have no blisters, no injuries, just a couple of chaffing areas. I managed not to fall yesterday, pretty proud of that!! I forgot to take my camera so I'm afraid I have no pics to share with you:(

Okay, I'll stop now before this post gets out of hand! Thank you so much for all the well wishes :) :) You guys all ROCK!!!

I'll be back for personals

Hello again! Back after writing the novel above:) :)
Well, one thing about finishing that monster race is that it definitely gave me confidence for my next marathon. The thought of a 26.2 mile flat course race doesn't phase me much now;-)

Chrstine- Wow, I'm humbled that I inspired you to go for 10miles yesterday:eek:  Great job!!!!!

Cathy- I did backtrack to Friday to check out the "dead horse" smiley..... too cute!!!! Sounds like a good run for you this morning and CONGRATULATIONS an another 5 lbs lost!!! Way to go there slim!!

Jackie- Today is your 10 mile race??? GOGOGOGOGO JACKIE!!!!!!!!!!!
I am so beyond impressed at your continued determination at completing all these races in your series:eek:     I'll be looking forward to your race report!

Carole- I LOVE that circuit workout of yours!!! Definitely got to try that baby! I got a smile out of your "killer attack acorn"
story. OUCH! Hope you are getting in a great long run today with your friend!

Judy- Hiya! Sorry to hear your hip is giving you some trouble and hope it doesn't progress beyond a twinge. I definitely have backed off the speedwork considerably this year myself... not worth the injury risk!! Hope you are having a fabulous rest day.

Hi to all the other cheetahs! Sorry I missed ya, not intentional I assure you!
Yes, I am doing a workout today! Cathy inspired me with HSC so I'll give that a go. It's back to work again also tonight so I'll nap later day. Tomorrow will be my rest day :)

Later,

ShellyC

Good Morning all!

GO JACKIE GO!!!! I’m up early, too! I’m so afraid I’ll miss the start. Have fun!

Shelly – GREAT RACE!! Wow! I’m so impressed! 27 miles over tough terrain running with horses and you live to talk about it! Sounds like a great, but exhausting race! Glad you really enjoyed it! Going to do it again next year? :p By the way – who won?

Cathy – I stopped WW because I could not eat enough for me. I do better around 2,000 or even 2,200 with the activity I do. But I’m also 5’10. But, I do think it’s a good plan and easier than counting calories. WAY TO GO on the 5 pounds!! YEAH!! *Does happy dance with Cathy*

Carole – I ended up with blue sparkly tips (French with blue sparklies instead of white – it’s all powder) and blue toes. So, not too funky but not plain!) Enjoy your run! Your workout yesterday sounds like fun! OUCH! On the acorn! Those live oaks are certainly lively, aren’t they?

Judy – Enjoy your rest day! Hope your hip feels better – I think a “date” with Eoin is needed – that “Magically Hips” segment! Sorry it’s warm there! We’re nice and chilly – I’m making Chicken Chili for dinner tonight. One of my favorites.

I’m feeling really good right now. My Achilles are tender – but they are always tender after a run and will feel better after my yoga session which I need to get to soon! I sometimes wonder if my achilles bother me so much because I wear heels so often, and not flatter shoes, so running is something very different... I've been wearing flatter shoes more often lately because of it. I’m hoping Forrest Yoga lives up to the hype. She sounds pretty incredible. Then it’s off to the local sports bar to watch the Pats! Go Pats!

Forrest yoga is different. I'll have to do it again to see if I like it. There is some fairly intense core work at the beginning, followed by sun saluations, and some very longly held shoulder twists from the Warrior 2 position. I got to that point and got impatient. I'm not a big fan of clasping arms behind the back and doing gumby moves. I definitely do not share many traits with Gumby. But I did like it to that point. She has a different perspective on how to do some moves and really gets into your back muscles and core muscles. I think I should have started with her beginner's workout.

Shelly :: WOW!!!!!! 27 miles on an *unbelievable* course! I’m just in awe.

http://s228.photobucket.com/albums/ee296/runninteach/happycelebrations/th_urthewoman.gif

Great race report ~ PHENOMENAL race!...*lol* on being called “slim.” :7 I’m workin’ on it!!…I’ll tell ya, I’m an HSC junkie. I have other circuits on the rotation this week, but I just wanna do that one again. But I do need to hit those one-armed tris again…I thought I remembered them in HSC, but I think they must’ve been in HST. It doesn’t take much to confuse me! *lol*

Christine :: The blue sparkly tips sound cute. I’m afraid I can’t show my hands right now…my nails look awful. Most of them broke once I returned to school and are now filed pretty short. I think I’m just rough on my hands and never get manicures b/c they just won’t last…Thanks for doin’ the happy dance with me! I’m tryin’ to take a page outta your book…let’s hope we keep losing. How much more would you like to drop?…I agree that the calories are low for the kind of workouts that we do…even for me, being much shorter (5’4”)…I have made it a point to consume ALL of the activity points I earn in a given day (because you either use ‘em or lose ‘em) and have upped my fiber and protein intake with every meal. That seems to have helped. I didn’t struggle as much to stay on track this week. But like I said, I don’t seem to have quite as much energy when I’m out running…I do believe the heels exacerbate the achilles stiffness. That is an area I have to watch, too…Have fun watching the Pats!

Hey Cathy! Aw shucks! Thanks for the complement and the bowing smiley but I honestly don't really feel like it was that great of an accomplishment, there were a few other women on the course and I wasn't the first one to finish either, there were a few ahead of me. But I appreciate your smiley! Hey, it's me who is the confused one re: HSC. It is HSTA that has one armed dips....you should no better than to listen to my befuddled musings! HSC does have those wonderful side pushups though!

Christine- I'm with you about the gumby yoga! I'm not into pretzel imitations myself ;-)

ShellyC

Hey Girls!

Shelly- OMGoodness! how did you do it?

Christine & Cathy- I did the WW points program in the late 90's and it was a good teacher for portion control. It can be helpful. Cathy you are doing great! keep up the good choices. And definitely et your exercise points!

Shelly :: are you kidding?? IMO, that's a HUGE accomplishment! You basically ran a marathon+ on a completely insane course against HORSES! BTW, did you manage to avoid the dung?...OH yeah, those side pushups are a doozy. My arms were already kinda toasted by that point.

Judy :: thanks! I did well this week and kept myself in line, but I make sure I never miss an activity point! :)

Cathy...let me dance with you...http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/r/dance.gif[/img]..CONGRATS on the weight loss...I am certain you dance better than Elaine!! You know, I do have a bump from the acorn or as Inspector Clouseau would say "You have a bimp"..:)

Judy... I just have a bit of a sore bump. Damn acorn..:)..We will go down the hallway and possibly our bedroom with some laminate. It is really nice...Rest days are good...I have been pushing too using the Metronome to get faster during the week in my shorter runs. So todays run was long and slow...take care of that hip...

Shelly...http://www.myglitterromance.com/congrats/4.gif[/img]..I know from experience that sometimes on trails it is very easy to get lost when you are alone. Don't beat yourself up as it is in no way stupidity! You had an awesome time for the 27 miles...you are so ready for LV. Today I got hit in the chest with the acorn...like a third minuscule boob is really what I want??

Christine...I will say Blue French tips are way better than the black onee I have been seeing. Blue is of course my favorite color...I don't have many live oaks, these ones are commonly referred to as Scrub oaks...and damn but they are dangerous! Be careful with the achilles. Sorry you got impatient with the new yoga...I don't like holding some moves forever...

The 12 miles was nice...and for this course a bit faster than last time I ran it. About 20 seconds per mile. (Thanks Danny!)..Off to watch some Football and do laundry...

Afternoon Cheetahs!

Getting ready to head home in a few minutes.

I did better than expected on my time today. I finished in 1:44:46. It was held at a forrest and the skeets were out in force and hungry. Had to fight them off. So far, I don't feel any bites but tomorrow may be a different story. The temp was in the mid to upper 70's but we were in shade for most of the race. I finished the first mile in under 9:00. There were lots of hills but the monsters were on miles 4, 7 & 9 with 9 being the monster of all monsters. It was a winding hill and I walked at least half of mile 9. Miles 4 & 7, I only walked a few minutes. Going down hill was just as bad. I thought I was going to tumble a couple of times. I had to put the brakes on. My legs felt good and strong. At mile 5 we were given some Hammer Gel. It was pure flavored sugar. I drank a little of it but it was just too sweet. I do think it gave me a burst of energy and I needed it between mile 8 & 9. My feet and hamstring started bothering me a little but I pushed through. Another woman and I ran together at the end. I told her to come on and let's move and she in turn said yeah we can do it. She went across first. My breathing and my legs worked together today. I'll venture to say it's the best race I've done so far. It was really a great place to run at too. Came back and showered and sat and watched a movie to just rest a little. If I can do this one again in two weeks, I shouldn't have a problem with the half.

Cathy - Will try and post photos when I get home. Congratulations on the 5 lb. lost!! Yippee!!

Carole - Ouch on the acorn and the bump! Hope you had a nice run with your friend.

Judy - Hope DH & DS enjoyed the meal. Hope you're enjoying your rest day and that hip is just a twinge and nothing more.

Shelly - Congratulations on finishing your race. Sorry you had to add extra mileage but you did have fun. You did an awesome job and I bow to you. Think I would have been a little confused after that race too. Glad if gave you confidence for your next marathon.

Christine - Hope the achilles is ok. Sorry Forrest yoga didn't live up to the hype. Have fun watching the game.

I'm dreading my drive home but I must do it. Hope everyone had a nice Sunday.

Jackie
