Cathlete
Good morning, cheetahs!

Ahh, the quiet of an early Sunday morning. It's a beautiful thing.

Gloria—nice to see you. Miss ya when ya can't post! How’s the workout room coming along? I didn’t do a lick of schoolwork yesterday—and it felt GREAT! J—so, I’ve got a full day ahead of me. Have to get ahead in preparation for the subs. How’s the advanced studies class going?

Wendi—yeowch! That sounds quite unpleasant. Did the doc have any insight into why the lumps are recurring? I hope a good night’s rest made some difference for you. How are you feeling this morning?...thanks for the very kind words!

Linda—that’s right, I forgot about your shorts. I think I may spin over to Fleet Feet today to pick up a new pair of my favorite socks and see what they have. Did you make any fun purchases yesterday? Sending vibes for an AWESOME 21 today!!!

Karen—Good job plowing through those hills…Posh, her friend, my mom, and I are arriving on Friday; Christine, Carole, and one of my friends from here all arrive on Saturday. Dallas is going to shoot for meeting up with us on Sunday…yes, it was probably me who mentioned chafing! One of the beauties of marathon training which I have discovered—there is always a new place to chafe! *lol*

Wendy—Hmm, I daresay I detect some M*O*C*K*E*R*Y here! I see how it is. ;)…*lol* Well, if I didn't have this ban on CLs (whose dumb idea was THAT?), I could self-medicate! *ha ha*...Ah well, they can’t all be Zen runs; some bumpy patches now and then are inevitable. But it’s all good. The important thing, in my view, is to learn from the tougher runs and keep a sense of humor about everything. J…Ut oh. Doesn’t sound good about the knee. IA, conservative is the way to go. I would ice the hell outta that thing...good luck! I hope you get it in check.

Today will be a run of 8-10, some yoga, and a whole boatload of schoolwork. :)

Have a wonderful day!

GOOD MORNING CHEETAHS!

Cathy: How sweet of your school to do that for you!!! You are blessed to have such great people around you. I like your shoes. By the way, I think they are NOT granny like. I would pick those out and not think twice. I am not a heel person though. Great run yesterday! I am excited for your upcoming marathon! Can't wait for the report!

Wendi: Your results for the horse show were great! I have not had a chance to check out the pics yet. Hope you are feeling better soon.

Wendy: I think you made a good call about the marathon in Philly. When you are ready, you will do the marathon. Our spare room was a disaster! I am proud to say it is oficially my workout room as of yesterday. It is clean and organized. I am sorry your knee is bothering you.

Shelly: Hope you had a nice rest day!

Carole: Thank you for filling me in about John. How was the potluck? It is sad when people you care about move on.

Christine: How was the Walk N Wag? Sounds like fun! Killer workout yesterday!

Linda: Good luck on your 21 miler!!!!!

Jackie: Great run!

Karen: Sounds like you had a nice day yesterday! Yikes on the chafing!

The workout room is done. I am so happy! It looks great! I will try and post a pic today with my school camera since DH has been manipulating mine. Today is a run and school work. I have to score writing which takes forever! Have a fantabulous Sunday Cheetahs!!!!!!

Morning ladies!

Well, I still feel like doodoo this morning, if not worse:confused::mad:. I'm sitting here picking at my rather unappealing omelet which normally I would have scarfed down in 30 seconds flat...you know I ain't right if I'm not hungry:p! Hey, maybe this not-wanting-food-thing is good, right LOL? Slept for another 12 hours last night...uggh.

Linda - The previous lump was just an infected gland...the infection had worked it's way up from a small chunk I had taken out of my hand (not an uncommon occurance with what I do). A week of antibiotics and, poof, all gone. I hope this clears as fast, if not faster, as this is far, far more painful! Glad you had a good time yesterday. Good luck today!!!

Wendy - Sorry to hear that your knee had something to say about yesterday's run:(. You are wise to stick to the EXT this week. Glad you enjoyed the flick...Jackie had said it was good, too.

Karen - Oooooh, sorry about the chafing:confused:....owie! WTG on the hills yesterday! Glad you had a nice time at the gardens....sounds lovely! Glad all of the appointments went well.

Cathy - ITA about quiet mornings...love em. The doc seemed to think it was because I shave , please! Been shaving for how many years now? Actually, I think I know the point of infection...got an, ahem, irritation in a rather sensitive spot (happens occasionally cuz of the riding) and, well, there ya go:(. Have a great run for me today, 'kay!

Gloria - So glad you've got that workout room up and running. So, what will be the inaugural workout? Thanks for the well-wishes. Hope the schoolwork doesn't take too long.

Gonna go peruse for a bit and then we'll see what I do. I really should be going into work but, honestly, I can barely walk so I'm not sure what to do. I hate to waste any time off that I have coming to me like this:(. GRRRRRRRR! Talk to yas later!

Good Morning Folks.

My knee was yellin' at me every time I tried to change position last night. I'm NOT happy. I am sitting here icing it again. I was going to do a full body weight work out today in lieu of a short run but that's now been changed to upper body only. My knee actually responds positively to movement. It hurts worse when I sit still for a period of time and feels better once I walk on it for a bit. I guess this means I'll have to clean the house today so that I keep moving...That's not fair!!!!!:p

Cathy: I think we've all had our share of issues these days. With so many of us training for longer distance races I guess it's inevitable. I just hope we all manage to avoid these issues on race day! I was reading the lates issue of RW and one of the arcticles used the term zen to describe a run. It made me think of you immediately. :) Have you seen the marriage proposal in the back of the mag? Quite original I must say!

Gloria: So happy your work out room is done. Mine tends to be a mess because it's got multiple uses beyond being my work out area. It's my computer room and laundry room. I need to straighten it out and re-organize my exercise gear. A good task for a rainy day I suppose.

Wendi Wendi Wendi: Girl STAY HOME FROM WORK TODAY! If you are that sick then you need to rest! If I found out you went into work I'm going to be VERY upset with you, young lady. Now got back to bed PRONTO! :)

BBL!

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy...I am so happy to see you "pumped" for this marathon!!! I am getting so excited just knowing I get to spend some time with my cheetahs!! I agree it would be sucky to get a DNF for having headphones. I wouldn't take the chance either. It was sad to see my Pastor go, but change is always good they say..:)..Tuscany's menu looks like it has quite a good assortment of Pasta dishes. Some of those Livestrong festivities look fun. I will also check out those pics you have here. Sounds like a wonderful 4 mile run yesterday...:)..Enjoy your 8-10 miles and yoga today.

Wendy..Glad the knee was not bad during your 9.25, just be careful. I am also a big believer in the walk/run method. DH making me sweat?...Well, let's not got there...:D. Our Pastor has been at this church about 13 years, which is a lot longer than usual. Normally they stay 4-6 years. At least the Assoc Pastor is not moving, he has the best sense of humor. Thanks for your thoughts on John. IA that a good attitude does help. I know eventually I will see that movie! For some reason I have always gotten those 2 actors mixed up!

Gloria...Way to go cleaning out the spare room. You will love having a workout room. There ended up not being a potluck, we were misinformed. So we have lots of that Vegetable taco soup!! It is sad when people you care about move on. But like I said to Cathy, change is supposed to be good...:)

Wendi...so sorry about the infection. How long do you have to avoid running? Sending strong healing vibes. Monkey deserves the compliment..:)..Yes, John has been through a lot. He always seems to be in a great mood when visited. I cannot remember the last time I slept 12 hours, you must have been exhausted.

Jackie..good job with the 8.3 miles. Sorry about the bathroom issues. Could you hold off running for a bit?

Linda...Thanks for your thoughts on John. I hope he heals up well too. I do love fires. Today should be warmer as the rain is gone.

I am planning on a 14 mile run with my sister and some friends. Mostly pavement today. I let someone else pick the course as I picked the one last week when my friend fell and my sister just got tired.

Have a great day...:)

Wendy...we posted about the same time. Sorry about the knee!! Get in some icing today if you get a housecleaning break.

Carole: That's nice that the associate Pastor is staying atleast. A good sense of humor is a wonderful trait in a person. I am going to be VERY careful regarding my knee this week. The run/walk theory worked well for me for my first half so I will likely institute for my 18 miler. I was initially looking to run all the way through at a slow pace but I am re-thinking that now cause I know what's going to happen. The energy at the race is going to propel me faster then I intend to go no matter how hard I fight it. That being said I think I will NEED those walking breaks. Heck, when I headed out y'day my intention was to make a slow and steady run at an 11-12 min pace but every time I looked at my garmin during the first mile I was between 10-11 so that's when I decided to put the walks in. Sometimes slow comes naturally and sometimes it's a real battle to maintain! Enjoy your 14 miler today! :)

Hiya ladies,

Wendy - Please do take it easy on that knee today...wouldn't want anything to stand between you and LBI. Now, don't yell, but I actually *have* to run into work for a second...have equipment in my car that one of the kids needs to ride today and, since she'll be taking up my riding slack, I figure I should drop it off. Don't worry though, I'll be heading home and curling up to watch "Run, Fatboy..."

Carole - Glad the Assoc Pastor is staying behind...sounds like a good person. Oh well, lotsa leftovers, huh? Enjoy! I hope you have a great run today. As far as running goes...it's not by doctor's orders, it's based on the pain level and, let me tell you, it ain't happening anytime in the near future. I really can barely hobble around the house right now:confused::(.

Gonna go run that stuff out to the barn and then I shall return. Ciao!

Good Morning Cheetahs!

Linda – oooh, baby shopping and Panera Bread for lunch? How fun! Glad to hear the trips are fun and that you have sweating companions on them!

Carole – I’m so glad you got to see John. I did find out that there is no way I can get there earlier than 2:30. *sighs* Sorry about that. If you want to grab a cab or the shuttle and get to the hotel earlier, no problem. I’d hate to make you sit in the airport for 2 hours. Enjoy your run today!

Wendy – so glad you ran without knee problems! I’m so sorry it hurts now!! So unfair! And cleaning, too? My oh my, when will it end? :p My friend is a doctor and he says to avoid the treadmill if possible because it’s not a natural gait and he sees more injuries from the TM then from outdoor running. But that’s not always possible. hope you had fun yesterday being childless and all! Come on over for dinner any time! I always manage to cook way too much! It was good, though! Yum!

Cathy – Tuscany’s sounds great. Let’s go there – and it will suit everyone. There are tons of restaurants in Chicago – so if this one came recommended, I’m all for it! Enjoy your run today! ITA with you about Palin. Working in the tech industry has given me insight to the Old Boys Network as well. There are plenty of female candidates out there with the substance and experience needed. Of course, none are quite as attractive. And I think that’s important to her running mate.

Jackie – great run yesterday! Enjoy your time with DBF!

Gloria – Hope the cleaning went well! How fun you get your own workout room! I cannot wait to see the photos!

Wendi – oh man, I’m sorry about the lumps! I think you’re probably just totally exhausted. Hope you’re feeling better soon! But, YES, stay home. No point in wearing yourself so down that you get really sick. I weinied out on the BC x 2 …

Karen – Longwood Gardens… We used to go there every Christmas. And my sister lives really close (or will again when she moves back to the States). How fun!

I am up a bit early to get in a good workout before we leave. I plan to do parts of Have Mercy the original. Yesterday I ended up doing Sweating Buckets and PLB (up only) as a circuit workout. Looking forward to the Game! GO PATS! :p The Walk N Wag happened in the morning and I understand it was a big success. We were to go at noon and help with the last shift. By the time 11:00AM rolled around, it was pouring, so it ended early and we never got to go! :( I was so bummed! I did get a lot done, though! I love my slow cooker – the bean dish was wondferful!

Hola, cheetahs— :)

Taking a little break from working here...

Gloria—looking forward to the pics of your workout room. Hope you get a chance to relax. I know how time-consuming the scoring is.

Wendi—what a great way to rest & recuperate. Hope the comic relief does you good. That is one sucky job hazard! Hopefully, the abx kicks in and you can fully enjoy the next few days.

Wendy—that must be the November issue. Don't have that one yet. I think you would definitely be wise to put the brakes on your speed and go with the run/walk approach. I got the perfect Beastie Boys mantra for ya: "Slow and low, that is the tempo!" :D

Carole—this time next week—GULP!—Posh & I will be on the road to 26.2! :) :) :) Do you have any recommendations for this week's workouts? Hope you have a great 14! See below re: a time for dinner reservations.

Christine—OK, if Posh is cool with it, I will make a reservation for us. What time? I just heard from Donna (friend who's running Chitown, too), and she will have two friends with her. Not sure if they will do their own thing or not, so I'll touch base with them on it as well...Sorry it was too wet for the Walk n' Wag...good luck to the Pats!

Cathy - 6 or 7 would be a good time for reservations. No later as you'll want to let it digest and get some sleep - if you can!:eek: One WEEK!!! Can you believe it? How fun! As for Sunday night - again - anything you want. It's your weekend. I'm sure I could manage to scarf down a piece of pizza or two if you insist! :D As I like any and every food, I'm easy. Did you see the SNL Skit of the debate? Had me howling, I'll tell ya! http://www.nbc.com/Saturday_Night_Live/video/clips/vp-debate-open-palin-biden/727421/ I think they were both fairly accurately portrayed...

Fly by to say that I did BM2 Upper body only today.

Also, I went to Target this morning and FINALLY purchased a foam roller. The leg of the "bad" knee is super tight so I was hoping the roller would help that and in turn alleviate some of the knee pain. Heck, even if it doesn't help with the knee pain I think it will be worth it but OUCH that thing hurts! LOL

GTG but I'll be back later to catch up on personals!

Wendy...I think that is a smart way to go with the 18 miles and the run/walk theory. There is absolutely nothing wrong with slow running! Way to go getting the foam roller!! It is the best thing next to a massage to me!

Wendi...I am happy about the Assoc pastor staying too. He sure can get you laughing. So sorry about the pain...:(...hope the infection clears up ASAP.

Christine...No problem at all about not being able to change your flight. I'd be happy to cruise around in the airport for a couple of hours as hotel rooms are boring all alone! I will be at the aiprort there waiting for you...:)..Good job getting up early for the workout. I will be sending the Pats winning vibes!! I hope you guys have a blast! Aren't slow cookers great!

Cathy...I was sure thinking about next week during my run today! It is going to be so fun. For workouts this week, easy, fun stuff maybe a couple of endurance upper body workouts, some abs, pilates, yoga, easy short runs and your EXT for other cardio if you want. Dinner at whatever time Sat night works for me. I am more concerned for you..Christine is right as you should try and eat early. I am sure I could be forced to eat some pizza Sunday too....But...no political talks please...:)

The run today was great. I am so happy feeling stronger on the uphills. The 14 turned into 15.5 as I was coaxed to run a bit more with my 63 year old friend. She is one awesome fast runner and kept us at a 10:16 pace. I hope I don't regret this in the morning!!! Off to do some laundry and watch some Football...:D

Hi Cheetahs

Ahhh a Sunday mostly at home!

Wendy- I am saying some big prayers for your knee girlfriend!!! That foam roller is a good / painful experience. Wendy is your race on Sunday too? DH and Ds are in NJ next weekend! DD17 however has a Regatta here at home so I wil be here to cheer her on!

Cathy and Posh- The big race is close now!

Carole- amazing run today! I felt really good yesterday so I went out for a 2 mile run. I ran 3 and walked .5 to cool down. That puts me at 15 for the week. I promise to stay at 15 max for the next few weeks. Tomorrow will be 7 again. I did some good rolling of my foot with a v8 can. It works great.

Gloria- way to go on getting the exercise room whipped into shape!

Linda- How was the loong run today?

Christine- I love hearing about your plans for next weekend! You and the Chicago gang will be in my thoughts all weekend! I wish I could be with you!

Today is a rest day. It felt good to sleep in nd not be overtired . DS15 has a game at 4:45 and then we are ordering take out PFChangs for dinner and having family night with a fire in the fireplace and football on TV of course. yesterday was 3 miles outside and tomorrw is 7 miles outside.

thank you to whome ever mentioned outside v TM for lower chance of injury. I believe it!

Afternoon cheetahs! Going into work tonight for my 3rd 7p-7a.. So far
I am enjoying my coworkers and the environment:) I don't really care at all for their computerized charting system. I've worked with much better.... oh well, ya can't have it all;) I got in a pretty decent 4 mile tempo run on the TM this morning and in a bit I'll head downstairs for some upperbody work... I'll just use the gym. DH also installed an awesome chin up bar:eek:

Cathy- How did the 8-10 miler go today? Finished with that boatload of schoolwork? You are making me so want to join you and the other 2 Cs (lol) in Chicago with your planning ideas!!! Sigh.

Gloria- Great to hear from and that you are still getting in those runs! Ya know, you and Cathy (and all other teachers) really do have a 7 day / wk job!!!! I have nothing but admiration for you guys!

Wendi- Poor cheetah! Glad to hear that you did visit the doc yest. Did you get a diagnosis? All your frenzied activity has really taken it's toll!
I sure hope you didn't get hung up at work and truly are taking it easy.
Not to worry about Philly. If it can't happen, so be it.... there will be other races:)

Wendy- You are definitely playing it smart with your knee right now. Especially sticking to walk/runs and staying away from the TM. Love the foam roller too... I'm surprised you hadn't gotten one yet! Particularly good for working out hips and knees! Take care and don't push it...
Please don't feel obligated to do this 18 miler if the knee doesn't come around... definitely NOT worth it!!

Carole- Awesome job with the run today!!! Carole the hill conqueror:D
That really inspires me that you run with a 63 y/o who challenges you!!!

Christine- Thanks for the PM on the WalknWag (or is it WagnWalk??) Anyway... what a bummer that it rained, but I guess that rain is sorely needed. Enjoy your Sunday football!!

Linda- Thinkin of ya on your mega 21 miler today!!!

That's about all I have time for now cheetahs!

Fly by post for me today. It was my rest day so no workouts to report. I spent the entire day cleaning my house and doing laundry and then downstairs to my mom's house to do the same. I'm just getting dinner on now and i'm beat. BBL tomorrow fresh and ready.

Christine—OK, 6 pm would be cool by me...Hilarious skit! Thanks for the link. Don't we*HAVE* to try the famous Chicago pizza once while we are there?

Carole—I admit, I have totally neglected u/b weights for almost a month (!) now. *hangs head* That sounds like a good idea. Thanks. I like to see what Jeff suggests and then bounce things off of the cheetahs, too...No worries on the political talks—we'll be on vacation! :) Awesome run! Hope your teams are doing well.

Judy—love Chang's. Glad you are runnin' strong and pain-free.

Shelly—My run went well..this time, I only swallowed one gnat! :) But I had 11 (counted 'em) stuck to my neck! *lol* Ick. I wish you were coming to Chicago, too...Didn't finish all the schoolwork, but I busted tail pretty much all day, so I made a good dent. The day sometimes just flies by on you. Will probably work late tomorrow to try and get the rest done, if possible. So all is good on the workfront except for the computer sitchy-ation. Perhaps you can convince the powers-that-be to make an upgrade or switch?

Had a good run this afternoon, just shy of 8. I didn't bring water with me, and I found myself a tad bit parched on the latter half of the run. It's sad when your fantasies are centered around a tall, cold glass of skim milk. *lol* At any rate, it was another utterly beautiful day out there, and as mentioned to Shelly above, I only ate ONE GNAT. :) Time to shower, plug in some yoga, and get myself organized for the work week.

Have a great night!

Hi Cheetahs!

Just wanted to post some pics. I will do personals later tonight or most likely in the morning.

The new workout room. My high step fits right behind my treadmill and the bosu leans on a bookcase.

HPIM0016.jpg

Have a great night if I am not back later! :)

Gloria—lovely pics!

I forgot to mention that while at Fleet Feet today, I bought an Amphipod storage pouch that clips to the waistband. I decided to test it out with my cell phone today, but I'm going to have to give this one the thumbs down. It was pulling my shorts down. *lol* Maybe for shorter runs or walks or for travel purposes, it wouldn't be so bad.
