Cheetahs Saturday Sound Off!

Well, okay...it's not gonna be much of a sound-off at 4am but you know what I mean, right? :7 :p

Good Morning Girls.

No, I am not up at 4am by choice. I woke up with what I thought was a dry, irritated throat so I went and got some water but it didn't go away. I tried to get back to sleep but couldn't so I got up to make myself some tea in hopes that it will soothe it. If not, I have a med I can take. I was trying to avoid it only b/c it's a "nighttime" med but wether I am up since before 4am with a sore throat or tired from a med that relieved the sore throat, I am still bound to be tired and personally....I'd rather NOT have the sore throat! LOL

So what's on everyone's work out agenda for today? It's my rest day/yoga day today as I am running tmrw with my friend in the park. I will do yoga if I get the itch to do something, otherwise it will be a complete rest day. I would have preferred to rest on Sunday instead but Sunday is the only day my friend can run with me and I'd like her to come.

Hope y'all are sleeping sounder then me and I'll see ya when I wake up in a few hours!:)

Good Morning:)

I have a feeling it will take me a while to write this...cause I am half asleep and still at work, so forgive me for any mistakes I might make.

Yesterday was a pretty good day. I did BM2 cardio and circuit work but then I wanted a harder upper body workout so I did PUB. Im not sore yet but I think I will be at some point today. The weather is suppose to be nice here today so I would like to get out for a run after I wake this afteroon. I thought I was going to be o.k about going to work but I started to cry when I left the house. I stopped shortly after but I guess it was just the leaving part that bothered me.

Its been a hard night at work. It normally isn't very hard but I have had lots of reasons to stay awake. I had a flight at 1, who wanted KFC and they closed at 12. Before that I had a medivac that needed transportation and then they left again at 4:30. So I only got a little down time after my first flight before I had to deal with the medivac again. The pilot gave me the low down on the medivac. There was a baby born at 24 weeks! They were taking it to the Childrens Hospital.

Lets see if I can catch up on personnals. I did read what everyone wrote last night but my memory isnt the best right now.

Wendy** Enjoy your yoga day. I hope you aren't comming down with something. Normally a itchy throat is signs that there is something brewing.

Lorie** I'd be majorily pi$$ed if I were you as well. That wasn't right. I guess you won't say anything to her? I don't normally stand up for myself either so if my MIL did something like that I would probably just let it slide. Did you guys work it out after?

Sunny** Good job on the workout. Yeah, DS usually naps for a couple of hours so yesterday I got my workout and shower in before he woke. I hope that happens ALL the time! hehe

Christine** I think running as to be the very best way to clear your head but a workout will do wonders as well. I just don't get why people don't workout. It makes me feel so much better! Your post cracked me up last night! I love it!

Carole** How were the new shoes?

Wendi** DId you get a workout in?

Kristi** Hope you enjoyed your rest day yesterday!

Cathy** I pm'd you, hope you see it.

Shelly** Did you get your run in!!! You go girl!

Alright, I think I caught up on everything. I hope everyone as a good day and I will probably pop back in today at some point!

Lori:)

Good morning Cheetahs!

I just want to catch up on some personals before I head out the door for work and horse show. I got lucky today as I we don't need to leave for this one until noon at the earliest. There have been times that we've had to leave to farm by 5 am for this one, meaning we had to get to the barn at 2am for prep ...so glad that's NOT the case today!!! Alas, there will be no workout for me because of this but I plan to start fresh tomorrow with my HIS/LIS step and Shoulders tomorrow. I've got some damage to undo from this past week's indulgences x(.

Wendy - Oh, my fingers are crossed that you are not getting sick again...{{{HUGS}}}. I thought that crud finally died here. Maybe your taking a rest day today is just the ticket your body needs to take care of that nasty bugger.

Kristi - OMG, those costumes are fantastic. Your DH is very talented...and gutsy to put on a pair of tights :+!

Carole - So, how were your new shoes yesterday? I hope you enjoyed your workout yesterday! Have fun watching football today.

Shelly - That is some "block" you've got there! and I thought I was doing well with a 4 mile loop lol! Enjoy your cooler temps...it's starting to get downright cold here. It's only 34 degrees right now, way too cold for my thin blood. It was in the mid fifties yeterday and I had five layers on and was still cold. I *hate* the cold!

Lorie - {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}!!!! I had a chance to read your posts last night but wasn't able to post. ITA with the way you handled the situation and with the wonderful advice given to you. That was an extremely tough spot you were put in. Please don't doubt yourself and how you felt you needed to handle it. Hopefully it blows over! Go for another head clearing run today girl!

Christine - Okay, you guys are talking about food, no fair! Where's this Elephant Bar...it sounds DELISH! I'm going to HAVE to check out that site when I have time. Those are hysterical!!! They were just what I needed last night.

Cathy - I hope your back is doing a bit better this morning. Nothing like a nagging injury that won't stop, well, nagging *lol*. I forgot to mention that how cool your costume was. Were your students able to figure it out or was that a bit over their heads (and before their time...J/K!)? ETA: I PM'd you.

Lori - Between that holy crap workout and that holy crap night at work you are going to be exhausted!!!! {{{{HUGS}}}} about leaving your baby...that must be tough for you! Unfortunately, no workout for me because I didn't get home from work until after 7 and that's too late for me to squeeze anything in. Today, won't happen either so it'll have to wait until Sunday ;(.

Okay, that catches me up. I'll see you all tonight while I've got a big pot of my *world famous* turkey chili simmering away on the stove! Well, at least my SO thinks it should be world famous LOL :9 :p! Have a great day ladies!

Good Morning (again)!

Thankfully I was able to drift back off to sleep after having my tea and taking some medicine. I'm a bit sleepy right now but I can always nap later on if I want to.

Lori: I don't blame you for crying. Heck, I cried the first day I went to work after first getting my dog when he was just a pup! We got him on a friday night so we had all weekend home with him. When I had to leave and he was in the crate crying I couldn't take it. I was bawling like a baby when I got in the car to go to work. It'll get easier I'm sure. Tons of moms out there do it every day and some from when thier baby is just 6 weeks old....

Wendi: Good luck at the horse show. Glad it's a later start today. I couldn't imagine having to be at work at 2 am and I'm sure it's not like you hadn't worked a regular full day prior to that! How many hours a day/week do you normally work cause your week seems to be a good bit longer then 40 hours most times. Enjoy your turkey chili! Sounds fabulous. Can I come over for dinner? ;) Actually you are only a couple hours drive from me...I really COULD come over for dinner! Lucky for you my mom already invited us!LOL :p

BBL!

Mornin', cheetahs! http://www.vbaexpress.com/forum/images/smilies/039.gif

Wendy :: http://s228.photobucket.com/albums/ee296/runninteach/goodluck/th_vibes2.gif sending get well vibes your way! It's kinda scary how resistant these bugs are getting! Hope you can nip it.

Lori :: sorry about the bad night at work y'day...and the hard time you had leaving the house...I did get your PM ~ thanks! ~ and I PM'd you back. :)

Wendi :: Glad you did not have to wake up in the middle of the night...I am with you on having to make up for indulgences...I have not tracked WW points in almost two weeks. :( Not good. I went a bit off the deep end when StressMax hit me and when the new week started, my internet went down, so I dropped the ball once more. Not valid excuses, but there it is. It seems like when H'ween rolls around and it gets cooler, I start to fall into holiday eating mode, and I really need to avoid that this year!!...Thanks for the compliment on the costume! Yes, my kids did know who I was because we read "The Birds" in class and viewed a clip of the Hitchcock film (even though it's WAY different than the story).

Lorie :: how are you doing today? Heard anything from SO?

Hi to all who follow...I'll BBL to see what you're all up to.

Just a general reminder for anyone who may be dropping in after an absence. If you'd like to participate in the card and/or gift exchange, please PM with your preference, mailing address, and email address ASAP.

The gift exchange will have a $20-25 price limit (shipping extra). Think of a wish list of 3 items (whether fitness-related or not) to help your Secret Snowman (or whatever we're calling it) shop for you. We can post those this week. Your gift should be mailed to your pollyanna by Dec. 5th.

Since I am going away on Thursday and it'll be a busy week, I'd like to draw names tomorrow...however, I want to make sure I get a hold of Linda and Susan first b/c I'm pretty sure both of them were interested.

Question for my Cheetah Girls!!!!

How do you all decide between strength and endurance rotations? Is there a schedule that will yield the best results??? I am getting ready to do another round of the X beginning in December. I have been doing strength work outs for about 3 weeks now. Prior to that I did 3-4 weeks of endurance work using BBC. I was planning on doing a faux X rotation in November but now I am questioning wether this is the best idea. Perhaps I should switch back to a month of endurance before settling in to 3 months of X work outs!?!?

What does everyone think? What would YOU do???

TIA!:)

just a quick update. df called last night but things did not go well. for some reason, he refuses to see my side and thinks i was the one that "pushed" his mom into asking by mentioning that we were going to vegas (about a month ago when we were all together). he thinks i put the idea in her head and she had no choice but to ask. he is being extremely irrational and such and a$$hole. he is supposed to be coming over today to "talk" but i am not sure i want to see him or talk to him.

i think the thing is, i have to think long and hard about spending my life with someone who would act like this. sad, but true.

i don't know what's going to happen.

i have a feeling this is not going to be a fun day.

Hello ladies,

wendy- i am happy you were able to fall back asleep. hopefully you are not getting sick again:( enjoy your rest day!

lori- i know what you are feeling i didn't go back to work until ds#2 was 8 months and i cried..alot. it's hard leaving your baby in the care of others. trust me it will get better:)

wendi- good luck today! i think you have inspired me to make some chili tomorrow:9 :D

cathy- i believe you still have all of my info. if you need anything else please let me know.

lori- you snuck in while i was typing. i am so sorry to hear that DF (men unfortunately get that way when it comes to their mothers) is acting so irrational, hopefully the air will clear soon and you will be able to talk things out. fingers crossed for you girl.

btw- where is jackie???

today i was going to try 4DSBC, however i woke up with a headache:( . i took some advil and am hoping it's gone by the time i go and teach class at 9:30.
tonight i am going for my first time to a figure/fitness competition. a woman i know is competing for her first time. i am so excited!!

hello to all my cheetah friends!!

Wendy :: Personally, I would do the endurance rotation b/c you are going to be focused on strength for 3 solid months. I'm a solid believer in that whole mixing-it-up approach.

Lorie :: oh man! Big (((HUGS))). This sucks! But I would be thinking the same thing you are. Now it has become a reflection of HIM. I agree, it is absolutely irrational the way he's twisted events and blown everything out of proportion. Dude's sweatin' the small stuff. Does FMIL want to join the LV trip now? Is she not speaking to him? I mean, I'm not sure how this complicated his life to the point that he's flipping out the way he is. I know nerves before big events can put on us on edge sometimes, so I'm hoping that a face-to-face talk today will clear the air and he'll come back to his senses. Will be thinking of you with fingers crossed. Keep us posted. More (((HUGS))).

ETA: Hi Sunny! Your post snuck by me. Sorry about your headache. Hope it clears before your class this morning...Yes, I do have all your info still. Edited a second time to say Jackie is in NYC.

(((LORIE)))

IMO it was COMPLETELY unfair of him to put the burden on you to keep this a secret from his parents because he didn't want to tell them the truth! If it was decided that no one was coming then HE should have TOLD THEM FROM THE BEGINNING!!! Perhaps you should remind him of this if you speak to him today and he is still being unreasonable. This is his fault if you ask me and he needs to own up to it. Period.

Just my 2 cents. :)

In any case, you do what you have to do and know that your Cheetah buds are behind you and we'll be happy for you if it works out and here to help you pick up the pieces and move on with your life if it doesn't.

Take care of yourself girl!

Hi there lovely Cheetahs!

Cathy - Yes, I do want to do the card and gift exchange! :7 That will be fun! As soon as I finish my post I will pm you my addresses! Thanks!

Sunny - Hmm....I hope Jackie is doing okay! Hopefully, she will pop in soon! Cool! Enjoy the figure competition!

Lorie- Oh dear....I hope everything smooths out with DF!

Wendy - Hope your throat gets better and that is not a sign of a nasty bug coming on! Take care and maybe get some more R&R today since you were forced up so early on a Saturday.

Lori - Your job sounds so interesting! Hope your night ended up okay!

Wendi - I hope you have fun at the show! Enjoy the chili and send some my way!!!

I will try to be back in a little while and post my workouts!

Hi to anyone I may have missed and that posts while I am typing!!

Hi Linda! Good to see you, and glad to hear you're in on the exchange. :)

I'm not sure when Jackie is getting back.

Oh, and I forgot to post my w/out for today also. We've got some high winds on account of Noel, so no outdoor run for me. Will do some indoor cardio (yet TBD) and 4DS C&B.

Cathy, TY for your input on my question.

I have one more question now, girls!

Are the pyramids considered strength or endurance? I've heard mixed thoughts on this. What does everyone think?

Thanks!:)

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy...it took me a long time to fake bake. I didn't try it til a few years ago and just go from Nov-Feb maybe once a week. I have always been a sun worshiper, probably growing up near the Southern Cali beaches did that! You know, I don't remember if my fake bake tanning lotion has SPF, but I doubt it. Enjoy your cardio and 4DS workout.

Wendy...sure, I would love to do a Slo-mo rotation next week if that is what you decide..:)..Sorry about the throat issues! I hope they go away pronto!! Enjoy your rest day. I am not sure what gives you the best results, endurance or strength. I like P90X's rotation of heavy lifting 3 weeks and then a week off (or like I did a week of light endurance). I have been trying out different rotations like 2 weeks heavy one week endurance, I do it mainly to shock the body and because it is fun and then again I am obsessive...:)..:)...Pyramids can be either. I do them sometimes with heavy weight and take longer breaks in between sets. As with endurance you cannot lift heavy without rest. Hope that makes sense...

Lorie...so sorry....sending {{{{HUGS}}}}. I have had MIL issues that would blow you away. I do agree you did nothing wrong. It is hard to deal with a manipulative person. I know if it were me when she flat out asked you, I would have said "Ask your son" therefore not lying and throwing it into DF's court, besides it is HIS Mom....not that it helps any now...My DH has 2 manipulative people in his family and the least said to them the better. I think everyone has given you great advice. My thoughts will be with you today Lorie. I am sorry you have to go thru this...listen to your heart, you will make the right choice.

Lori...I can only imagine how tough it was to leave DS for work...sending {{{HUGS}}}. Your work sounds like it is busy. That was a killer upper body workout yesterday! The new shoes were great...

Wendi...the shoes felt so good! The workout was fun but I did PUB instead of Amy's APX as I didn't want to have all the eqiupment changes. I watch Football tomorrow....:)...Enjoy the Turkey Chili...

Sunny..sorry about the headache...I bet the figure competition will be great fun!

Shelly...I got Saucony Grid Jazz 11, they feel great! A good brand for trail shoes is Montrail. How did the 18 miles go?

Christine...that restaurant sounds great! The shoes feel great as new shoes always do. I will let you know how I like Amy's new ones when I get them, should be today. Love the kitty pics!! I believe my DH found those damn pills again http://smilies.sofrayt.com/eng/smash.gif[/img]

I am doing a 40 min iClimb and some abs and leg floorwork. Had a crappy day with DH yesterday so I am trying to believe today might be better....

Have a good day cheetahs...

Hi Cheetahs!

Oh, I was a bad girl yesterday. Really bad! Between the Halloween candy, the omelet at iHop and the pizza – it was not a good eating day! Oh well, today is a new day and I’ll again with a nice 8 mile trail run (or waddle with all this food in me!). We went to this little family owned Italian restaurant called Gumba’s. We found out the owner, Dave, just sold it and would be moving in the next few months, so we were happy to see him before he left. But I have to admit, only in California could a Mexican sell an Italian restaurant to a South African Indian, and two Chinese (all women, by the way) and expect it to stay Italian. Go figure. Dave will be opening a restaurant in a little surfer town in Mexico where his wife grew up.

Wendy – So sorry you’re not feeling well! I’m hoping it’s not the Crud! I’ll keep sending you positive healing thought! Enjoy your rest/yoga day. Ya know – yoga is supposed to be healing… Maybe it will help… (okay, that’s is a bit new age… :p) Glad you were able to get more sleep! As for heavy vs. endurance – I’m convinced that I get better results when I mix things up. So I would do endurance before P90X. And I see Cathy agrees. I use the pyramids more for strength as I go super heavy with them, but I can see both on it – I don’t see how it would hurt to add them in once in a while.

Lori – oh that must have been tough! I’m like Wendy, I have issues leaving my pups – my daughter was the toughest, though. Sounds like you had an interesting night to keep your mind off things, though. I hope that poor baby is okay! Yeah – you’re right – any workout is great. I used to work off my frustrations at my DH’s ex (she’s a real witch and caused lots if issues with child custody, etc), in my Krav Maga class. Punching and kicking really gets the anger out! :p

Wendi – What to do a clean eating challenge this week? Anyone else can join who wants – but we have to be accountable for what we eat and list it here. Susan and I do that every now and again when eating gets out of hand! Enjoy your show! Glad it is not too early today!

Cathy – Love your little healing fairy! I think I have Susan’s cell phone number some where. I could look. Where are you heading on Thursday? Again, thanks sweetie! You’re so wonderful at organization! What to join me in the clean eating challenge this week?

Lorie – I guess I just don’t understand why the whole thing had to be hush-hush to begin with. That’s a huge burden, things leak, and people can put two and two together. Ask him what you would gain by pushing his mom into asking. What benefit would that bring you? I don’t understand why he has to be so darned irrational about this. I’d be questioning, too, because what’s going to happen with him when you two have a REAL emergency and need to work together? Will he act like this again? That’s soo not cool.

Sunny – I hope you’re feeling better! Oh – good luck to your friend who is competing! How exciting!

Linda – How are you doing? Glad you are doing the card and gift exchange!

Hi to all who follow!

Good morning Cheetahs!

I'm back for a couple of days. We really had fun in NYC. Went to see The Color Purple. The show was good but we were disappointed that Fantasia did not perform that night. Kind of took something away from it for me. We did lots of touring, shopping, eating and walking. We spent lots of money. Loved the no tax on clothes. Got a great buy on a pair of Lucky jeans. Love the fit of these. Thanks to whoever suggested them. The weather was fine after the rain left. The hotel turned the heat on and the room was uncomfortable for a couple of days but we survived. We even got good at riding the subway.

I managed to get in a couple of days of running at the hotel's fitness center. Climbing all those stairs made my glutes and hamstrings sore. Figured they would keep me in shape for my half tomorrow. So glad time is changing tonight. It may not be too chilly at 7:00 am tomorrow morning.

I'm sorry I can't do personals today. I have to do a little cleaning, unpack, wash and repack. That's making for a busy weekend for me. I leave Tuesday morning for Tobago bright and early.

I just wanted to say hi to all of my Cheetah friends. Will try and check in after the race tomorrow.

Have a great weekend!

Jackie

Just heard that Ryan Shay, a marathoner died in training at the age of 26. Wow... Poor guy...

Carole- I'm looking forward to hearing what you think of Amy's Slo-Mo. It sounds interesting! Hope DH starts acting normal again. Mine is okay for the moment! He's leaving for a week on Monday, which helps! :p

Jackie - sounds like you had a grand ole time in NYC! I love that town! Glad you're back safe and sound!

Good morning all! Wow, lots of activity in Cheetahville for a Saturday!! I did my 18 miler yesterday but it was tough:eek: To be honest I probably did too much the day before and this was a tough hilly run but I made it anyway:)

Lorie- You certainly need all the cheetah support you can get today!!
To me it sounds like there has been major issues going on between
your DF and his mom for a LONG time. And now unfortunately you have been put square in the middle. Your DF has been avoiding a confrontation with her and is using you towards this purpose. I'm hoping he is mature enough to come to realize this. He sounds basically like a great guy but he has got to resolve this if he wants to move on with his life and not be stuck forever with his frustrations and alone in the end. I'm with the others in that you are absolutely not at fault!! Stick to your guns sweetie! YOu need to let him know you will not be a pawn in this unspoken war between him and his mother. Hopefully this will be a start to a change for the better. I'm crossing my fingers for you!!

Wendy- IMHO the pyramids are definitely a strength workout. Re:
endurance vs strength. I think what the body responds best to is both. I'm not trying to be cute here.... seriously. Alternating rotations based on endurance and then strength will continuously shock the body to get the results you are looking for. Sorry about the sore throat and hopefully it isn't a precursor for something worse. Hot tea does work wonderfully when your throat needs soothing!!

Lori- I got a lump in my throat reading your post! Perfectly understandable needing a good cry session! I assume you are sleeping now and I sure hope that tonight goes better for ya!
PUB never fails to give me DOMS!

Wendi- Hope your horse show goes well for you and I'm glad you didn't have to get up at some awful hour for this one. It actually was a bit too warm by the time I finished my run yesterday. We've had a very mild fall so far and temps are still well into the 70s.

Cathy- I hate even stepping outdoors during high winds much less
running! Good time for indoor cardio ;-) Thank you so much for all you do.... our cheetah social coordinator!!!

SunnyD- Hope your headache is history now! How fun to go see a figure fitness competition. I've never seen one myself. Even if I had the ultimate "body to die for" I absolutely could never imagine parading around in front of a crowd wearing a teenyweeny bikini!!!

Linda- HI there! Great to see you posting!! What's the workout today and plans for the weekend?

Carole- Montrail is actually one of the types of shoes I've been seriously considering... thanks for the input. Saucony Jazz eh?
I guess they did the trick for you!! Will you use them for the LV half?

Christine- Wow you really started something with the kitty pics!
Thanks for the link... great website! I bet that 8 mile trail run today will knock out all the effects of yesterdays diet!!

Jackie- Hey busy girl! I can't believe your schedule.... and you are doing a half marathon between these trips too!!!  Best of luck to you and I hope you have time to post a race report.

Well, today will be some serious upper body work. I'm thinking I'll try the premixes of 4DS where it's not laid out in the push pull fashion. I believe she has Back and Biceps on one and then Chest, Shoulders Tris on another. I'll also get in some good step cardio... probably the HIS/LIS combo.

tata
