::::CHEETAHS::::: Sat. Sept 6

Just getting thru the week

Had too much stuff to catch up on yesterday to check in on the cheetahs. I've been on a one night on, one night off schedule and it's very disorienting! Today will be a good day to stay indoors with Miss Hannah visiting the East Coast!! I'll be hitting the TM when I wake up for a good long 6 miler doing an iTread- not sure which one yet.
I did KCMs Stepboxing w/o (her best I think) yesterday and an easy paced 4 mile run. Finally got my car registered and inspected too so I no longer look like a lost Arizona tourist:p

Wendy- That would be great if you could manage the Philly half marathon this Nov. It should be a cinch for you after the 18 miler. I bet you could do the full mary!! I'm using the 18 miler as a training run for the full myself. Anyway, it's a great historic route and very scenic. I'm pretty sure that everyone starts at the same time (full and half marathoners)
and place- at the foot of the "rocky steps". Great to hear that Joey did well on his first day of school. I'm not surprised.... he struck me as being very sociable and outgoing (just like his Mom). Sorry to hear that your BFs mom passed away. With what she was going thru I see it as a blessing but that doesn't make it any easier for your friend for sure!

Wendi- Great to hear that you are still planning on running in Philly!!! Hope you can get your computer unfrozen enough to register. All the relatives arrive safely.... and are you keeping your sanity so far???

Linda- I will definitely not miss Philadelphia in general but I certainly will miss the nice apartment where I've been staying!!! Oh well, you can't have it all. You've been really on track with your runs I see. You should do fabulously on your upcoming mary.

Carole- Sorry to hear that your Mom's transfer to rehab was delayed due to the Ativan reaction. That is a common problem with that med I'm afraid. That's too bad she isn't willing to try to stop smoking. The "I'm too old, why bother now" is a common rationalization. In fact, it is NEVEr too late to obtain benefits and prolong life with smoking cessation. Some hospitals are really aggressive with pushing people to stop and others not so much. Oh well, you can still work on her while she is in rehab. She may be more receptive to it now. Congratulations on your 4.0 GPA!!!

Jackie- Glad to hear that your hamstrings have apparently made a full recovery and that you are getting into the swing of running again. Having an open house today?

Christine- How did your "work" day go yesterday? Wow, a bike ride and beach party!!! I'm in the wrong profession!!!!!

Karen- How is the new TV working out? Just in time for the new football season too... I'm sure your DH is in heaven now! Goodness, your Mom has really been thru the ringer lately.... kidney stones are certainly painful too. Hope she is doing better now! Congratulations on toughing it out in the heat and getting in that 10 mile run.

Cathy- Visiting your BF and her new baby today? Nice diversion from back to school frenzy for you I bet. Can't run outside today anyway!!

Gloria- How did you survive the first week (or is it two now) of school?
Things settling down for you yet?

I think that about catches me up with y'all. I'll be getting in some kind of circuit workout today. Not sure what... or maybe I'll break out the 4DS.
Time for some really good upper body work!!

ahhh, Saturday

Good morning, cheetahs! :)

Shelly :: Nice to have the car inspection & registration outta the way...You betcha, I will stopping by the hospital later after a few appointments and errands. No plans for a run today, anyway, so Hannah won't impact my agenda. Lots of schoolwork to square away so I can rest tomorrow after my long run. Enjoy your TM run & circuit today.

Well, the little one finally greeted the world just shortly before 9 last night. Looks adorable in the photos. I look forward to visiting later.

Today is my regularly scheduled rest day. If I didn't have 20 ahead of me tomorrow, I'd be inclined to work out since I've already had two rest days this week and feel the itch. But I do think it's better to stick to plan and have fresh legs and energy for the morning's challenge.

Have a great day, everyone!

Good Morning Shelly, Cathy and all who follow. :)

Shelly: Yikes one day on one day off when you work a night shift sounds tough to me too. Good thing you are almost outta there, right? ;) So is the word on the new job OFFICIAL yet or do you still you to wait through some more red tape? Do you forsee having any down time between jobs? I really appreciate your faith in me in regards to being able to complete the full marathon. That means alot. :) I think though, that I'll stick to the half if I run with you and Wendi in November. :p I still have my sights set on the point to point Jersey Shore full mary at the end of March 2009 so we'll see....Getting through the 18 miler w/o any serious reprocussions will surely help to boost my confidence and convince me to continue training for the full. :)

Cathy: After I cracked open that CAB last night, I was tempted to rock out by myself but I didn't want to end up with an F in alcohol. LOL This is the first time that it worked in my favor and I maintained an A in it so I wanted to keep it that way! ;) Congrats on BF's new addition! She had a little girl, correct? Do you know what they plan to name her? Enjoy your visit with her today and tell BF your Cheetah pals send a big CONGRATULATIONS!:D I am supposed to be resting today too but with the impending storm and being couped up most of the day I may cave and do an upper body work out. I'm not silly enough to run or do cardio but I'm liable to go ape in the house all day w/o a work out. LOL Oh so tonight is the easy time for me to get to the visitation and wouldn't ya know it they are calling for the WORST of the storm to come this afternoon into this evening....GRRRRR. I don't know what to do now. I guess I will see how the weather is and make my decision at the last minute...

So as I was telling Cathy, today is a scheduled rest day since tmrw is my long run (13 miles). I may not follow it though if I am couped up all day due to the impending storm. I may end up doing an upper body work out out of pure and utter boredom but I'll see....

Off to get more coffee. BBL!

Wendy :: good for you keepin' your A. Guess it only allows for one...yes, they had a little girl. I'd pass on your congrats, but she wouldn't know who the cheetahs were. :) *lol*...Glad Joey stayed dry overnight...Enjoy your rest or workout, whatever you decide.

Cathy: You didn't tell her about your Cheetah pals? I guess ya didn't want to get the strange looks from her huh? LOL I don't blame you. I know people must think I'm a bit off my rocker when I talk about the forums and the Cheetahs, etc. It's okay though. You gals are the bestest. Let everyone think I'm nuts cause in reality, you all help to keep me sane!:D

Good rainy morning from MD. Today I did a 3 mile treadmill run focusing on hills. Hate it !!!! :D:D

May lose power today so I hope to be back after I shower and eat.

Shelly- Enjoy the rain today with me. We sure could use it.

Cathy- Good luck tomorrow on the 20 miles. I would take the day off too. Eat some pasta and enjoy.

Wendy- Good luck on the 13 tomorrow. Enjoy the rain. i hope it cools things off.

Hello to Carole, Linda, Judy, Jackie, Wendi, Gloria, Christine, and all others.

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy...IA about what you said referring to smokers. I won't argue with my Mom about it. It is just not worth it. Cannot believe you don't want to wear the YELLOW sneakers...:D..Congrats on making your fund raising goal!! Congrats to the new little girl!! Enjoy your deserved rest day.

Christine...glad you quit smoking after only doing it a bit. I was surrounded by smokers in my family as everyone smoked but me! Karen quit as soon as she got pregnant and my other sister Cathi (John's Mom) quit quite a few years ago. My oldest sister(PITA) and Mom are the only smokers now. So how was the 38 mile bike ride yesterday?

Linda..I am not thinking my Mom will quit, but you never know. Good job with the run and GS BSB. I don't think those are bad pics at all!! You look great...I always hate mine too though...:)

Wendy..so sorry about Joey's day yesterday...:(...he sure was exhausted when you got home. I bet if you make one of the visitations, that would be fine. I have had a few run-ins with PITA sis, luckily no slapping has occurred...:D..LMAO about the Coors light adding some to your GPA!!! I have decided to switch to Miller GD light, only 64 calories...:D. Hope the storm is not too bad in your area. Great news about DS staying dry!!

Jackie...Not sure it is worth the energy to try and convince my Mom to quit...I know her...:)...Sounds like a nice FIRM/TM workout yesterday.

Karen...way to go doing the 10 miles in the heat! I hope Hannah is not a problem. So DH was very happy last year for the Superbowl!! I like a few teams but don't get in a real bad mood if they loose. I am used to it...:)

Gloria..glad you got through the 1st busy week of school. My Mom has smoked since she was 16 and as much as I would like her to quit, it is highly doubtful. Glad the hammie thing was nothing. Good job with the 4 miles.

Shelly..sounds like you are settling in well to your new surroundings. No more Arizona tourist...lol! IA completely in feeling it would benefit Mom to quit smoking. But, as she told me when she was in re-had that she didn't plan on stopping, I won't push, as I told Jackie, I know my Mom. She LOVES to smoke. Thanks re my GPA, I didn't even take my multi yesterday, so for sure saving money on vitamins!!! I am breaking out 4DS next week!

Mom was in the best mood I have seen yesterday. She got the tour of the re-hab facility and likes the food much better than the hospital (who woulda thought?..:)..) She is still not eating enough and I tried to tell her she needs to as once she starts PT she will need the energy! Karen brought her in some Ensure and a few other things, Hopefully she will drink one Ensure a day besides some eating.

I am going to so some sort of kickbox circuit with Bodymax bi's and tri's and abs from something. I will go see my Mom later today...

Have a great day...:)

Good morning Cheetahs!

No time for personals today. I have a lots to do to get ready for my open house. I did run 5 miles this morning. DD was able to do 2.5 miles with me until her knees couldn't take anymore. I was going at a slower pace for her too. Did some stretching afterwards.

Enjoy your day everyone and I'll try and catch up later.

Good Morning Cheetahs!

I will be back with personals. I'm exhausted today!! The bike ride was fun (actually a really nice ride!). The beach party was fun, too. Then we went out for dinner with friends. Something did not agree with me and my stomach felt as if I had a small mule in there kicking at around 5AM. I'm a bit better now, but still recovering. DH wants to take a hike this morning, but I'm thinking I might need a day off. We'll see how I feel after DH gets up. I'm waiting for a few more photos to be published before I do my trip report, but I will do it. I have some good photos!

Hiya ladies!

I *may* have a moment tonight to catch up with everyone but if I don't and you gals don't hear from me for awhile I want you all to know why...

Received word last night that MK probably won't make it another night. And, at the risk of sounding cold, I truly hope that's the case. She is in soooooo much pain at this point and really isn't communicative and I wish it would just end for her sake...it's pure torture at this point. I know that may sound heartless but she's suffered more than enough. Sorry to bring you all down but I just had to get that off my chest and sometimes I feel like that's not the popular opinion.

BTW, Cathy, I forgot to tell you that I did finally see "The Bucket List". I wouldn't normally have spent the time to as I don't really care for Jack (love Morgan, though) but your recommendation carried some weight with me. LOVED it!!!! Food for thought, on sooooooooooooo many levels. Thank you, love!

Gotta close for now. Should be getting invaded any time now...as if I need *that* too right now:confused:. Have a great day Cheetahs!

Wendy :: I'm sure I mentioned to her in passing way back when at some point that I befriended some folks through an online daily running check-in, but I doubt she would remember that or know the "cheetah" nickname. I have gotten those quizzical looks you mentioned from others, though.

Karen :: good job w/ your hilly 3 miler. I am definitely enjoying the rain along with you today. Makes me feel nap-ish.

Carole :: *lol* I would wear the yellow running shoes IF they were my Asics Nimbus, but I'm NOT experimenting with footwear. Too many foot and leg issues. I gotta stick with what works. I do think the whole get-up would be smile-worthy, though. That is so great your mom is lovin' the rehab center. Hope she takes you up on those Ensures. How was your kb circuit?

Jackie :: hope you & your guests are having a fabulous time!

Christine :: how's the belly? Did you make it on the hike? Glad yesterday was fun. You do have us all envious of your company shindigs. Did Miss Leather Hotpants make an appearance?

Wendi :: I completely understand why one would say the suffering has been enough. Clearly, the same was for true for Wendy's BF's mom. I know that is how my cousin reacted when his BF (Michael, the other guy I'm running in honor of) passed. His exact words were: "he's better off." I don't think it's cold or callous; to me, it's merciful. But even in these situations, it is terribly sad. (((HUGS))) to you. I'm glad you appreciated The Bucket List...Here's to a fun visit with the senior members of the clan! You know, when all else fails, break out the LD! :)

I wasn't able to visit my friend today. Her SO suggested I come tomorrow as she's really worn down from yesterday. I guess so after 17 hours of labor and then a C-section! Hopefully, tomorrow she'll be up for visitors.

I worked on school stuff all morning, followed by a chiro and hair appointment. Am going to let the light pitter-patter of the rain against the leaves lull me into a slumber for a bit. Later, I'll tackle the remaining workload.

BBL!
