CHEETAHS ::: Monday ~ let's make it a great one!

Hello Cheetahs! Is it already 4? My work day is rushing by me. Today has been a great day. I received my Christmas bonus from my boss today. Needless to say it is being spent on quite a few fitness related items. During lunch I bought a Bosu (thanks for enabling me Cathe & Wendy :)). I also ordered 3 DVDs from Collage; Rob Glick’s Bosu Cardio Fusion, Candice Copeland’s Core Synergy, and Amy Bento’s Slo-Mo. (What is the use in having a new toy if you don’t have any DVDs to go with it?) I also plan to register for my Triple Crown races in March and my HM in April with the money. Workout wise, tonight will be GS Upper Body and L&G Lower Body. DH will be out with the guys so I can do a longer workout without any guilt, however it will need to be after the kiddos are in bed.

Christine – I love the sound of your doggie day camp. I wish we had one here. Chelsea could definitely benefit from something like that. How are things going in Chicago?

Wendy – Re: how long my kids color, about 30 minutes to an hour. Last night DS colored for about 2 hours. However, there are days they only want to do it for 15 minutes. DS’s eczema is a little better. I have a cream ointment for him to use, but I use it sparingly because the FDA has stopped the same drug in pill form from being used because it causes cancer. The doctor said it is only pill form that is a problem. I don’t want to take any chances. In any case, DS has had eczema year round since he was about 8 months old. Most of the times a child grows out of infant eczema, but when it doesn’t, like with DS, it is a symptom of asthma, which DS has a problem with during the winter months. In fact this morning I had to give DS a breathing treatment. BTW, good luck doing the X again. It is a great program.

Jackie – I received your card today. Great job getting your card writing finished. I still need to do cards for family and friends.

SunnyD – I want to say Congrats on your HM. You did awesome girl especially with the back problems you were experiencing. Is there anything you can’t do? GREAT JOB!!

Cathy – I’m a get in and get out kind of shopper too. How did your shopping go this weekend?

Wendi – “I don't know how you do it with your sleep interrupted so often.” Well, I do it because no matter what I need to exercise. I try to take naps on the weekend to catch-up on the loss of sleep. That is partially why I don’t get in many workouts on the weekend. :)

Shelly – WAY TO GO on your marathon. You are definitely my role model. I’m so proud of you. Re: gambling, I’m not much of a gambler either. When I stayed at Mandalay Bay back in 2001 I spent only $10 gambling. Luck is never on my side when it comes to quick money. However, I’m lucky in life which is more important.

Carole – WAY TO GO Girl! I’m so proud of you too! You and Shelly inspire us all to push our limitations. It is so easy to say I can’t do something, but then I see both of you wonderful ladies doing extraordinary things and I start to think maybe I can do this too!

Lori – I don’t blame you putting off buying a new treadmill since the old one doesn’t act up much. I guess when it is time for a new one you will know it.

Kelly – Welcome and good luck training for the HM. I followed Hal Higdon’s novice program to train. I agree with another poster, don’t do leg work the day before a long run.

Hi Lorie, Judy, Susan, Linda, & Jess!

susan- i am still up in the air about this workout. it was alright. not a winner in my book, yet not a awful workout either. it's very endurance based. i will have to do it again.

christine- HI!! nice to see you checking in from the windy city:7

kelly- welcome!! please join us.

jackie- i received your card today, thanks:) i am currently teach classes 3x's a week. bootcamp and metabolic effect. www.metaboliceffect.com

kristi- thanks girl!! tracey staehle's new parts workouts also incorporate the BOSU. not to enable you further...hehehe}(

jess- it's so nice to hear from you. round 3 of the X, girl you are hooked, lol.

wendy- you should definitely check out the website. great job with your workout today! i can't wait for the new ones to come out. i am thinking of doing an X rotation next month.

Hiya cheetahs! Got back an hour or so ago and I thought I'd get in a late post. After a reunion with my DH Jerry we met up with Carole and her sisters Karen (the runner) and Cathy (who is a fabulous at finding her way around Vegas) and after refueling we all hit the town again believe it or not and logged in several miles at least of walking. We took in the sites at the Mirage, Treasure Island and the Venetian before heading back to New York, New York and capping it off with a ride on the roller coaster! I'll download my pics tonight and should be able to show you some tomorrow. I'm really not feeling very sore at all at this point. Much better than my marathon last Jan. I had run that one while still recovering from a serious injury and was a wreck! This time I was troubled a little from a sore ankle but nothing like my first marathon! I had wonderful pacing help for the first six miles with Karen and Carole- they are fabulous beyond words!! Then they split up to run the half course.
Apparently alot of runners were confused and ran the wrong way and I see alot of complaints on the message boards at the LV web site.

Cathy- Did you have a satisfying yoga day?

Lorie- Doing alot of soul searching I see! We were thinking of you in Vegas and wishing we had the opportunity to meet.... but there will be other occasions. Sounds like a productive weekend for you mentally anyway!

Lori- Yes, I ran the full mary and Carole and Karen did the half!
Get in a good UB workout?

SunnyD- How was Tracey's UB workout? Congratulations again on a great HM performance!

Judy- I love to do circuit workouts when I want a break from the heavy weights as they tend to naturally focus more on endurance, great calorie burners as well.

Wendy- Getting back into the serious and heavy weights as well now eh? I've been considering doing alot more X workouts myself although I doubt I'll do a full rotation of them. So, are you inspired to train for a full mary next year?

Wendi- Wow, what an ordeal just to treat an eye infection in a horse!!! Much more problematic then with a person, IMO!!
Great job with the MixnMatch today... that one is a doozie!

Kelly- Welcome to the cheetahs! We hope you'll stop by and chat with us more!!! That's great that you are going for your first HM!!! There is alot of confusing advice out there! The most important part of any long distance race training is of course the long run, so for the most part it is best to avoid heavy leg weight workouts the day before. As to the rest, really it comes down to experimenting with what works for you! There is no magic formula that is good for everyone.

Susan- Hiya! Have a fun time with HSC today?

Jess- Great to have you back chatting with us! Thanks for the congrats yesterday. WOW- Round 3 of the X!!! You should be in their infomercials!

Kristi- Thank you so much for your kind words! I see you have made great use of your Christmas bonus!!!

I'll check back in tomorrow. You all have been the most wonderful inspiration!!!

ShellyC

Kristi: You have some great plans for that bonus of yours. Too bad SAHM's don't get a Christmas bonus!;) :p :7 Very intersting info about infant eczema. I had no idea that asthma was connected to it! How is your DS feeling now? When DS asks to color, I am lucky if it lasts 10 mins at this point. LOL

Christine: Thanks for checkin' in from the windy city! Sounds like you are having a blast! WOOH! Let loose! You deserve it. }(

Shelly: Glad you had such a great race this weekend. Sounds like you, Carole and Karen had good time together. How did you like the roller coaster at the NY NY? Had you ever been on it before this? When I was in Vegas many years ago I saw the coaster. It looked really cool but I was too chicken to take the ride!:p I was not thinking of a full mary for 2008 but rather for 2009. Who knows though...stranger things could happen!;) I definately want to get ATLEAST one more half under my belt before attacking a full though. I was hoping for 2 TBH. We'll see how it goes. Gotta finish the X first though!}(

So it's a quiet night at home for DS and myself. DH is bowling as he usually does on monday nights. We are normally not around though b/c of training but since my clients are "cheating on me" at the Y for 2 weeks I will be around. :)

I got a scare today at work. DS was playing on the other side of the room. They have child size tables w/stools in the room. Well, I don't really know what happened but all I saw was DS fall and he went down chin first on top of the table and then fell to the ground screaming. I screamed and ran over and he was bleeding pretty badly from his mouth. I was petrified that he had messed up his teeth! Not because he'd loose them (they are baby teeth, I don't care about that), but because even a chip can be very painful (as our poor Wendi now knows!). ;( I brought him into the break room and tried to clean the blood off with a wet paper towel. It stopped bleeding pretty quickly thank goodness and he also stopped crying just as fast. He was back to playing in minutes. He has pretty nasty lookin' cuts on the inside of his upper lip and on the gum and has a bit of a fat lip. It's tender to the touch so I have to be careful when I clean his face but other then that he seems to be fine. His teeth are in one piece and nothing is loose. PHEW! Having a child really tests your nerves! OMG, I have to learn to be calmer!

Hey ladies!

It is sooo cold and dreary here today! The wind is brutal!

Wendi – Sorry the tournament was cancelled! I am sure that was a letdown since you guys did so well last year!

Cathy – I did manage to sleep last night, believe it or not! I needed to take my nap on Saturday, instead of Sunday, like you did!

Lorie – I hope things get resolved about whether the “F” stays in DF! Bless your heart! Where on earth do you get those adorable little smiley’s?

Lori – What workout did ya end up doing? Did you get to take out your decorations?

Sunny – Did you like Tracey’s UB? I liked it a lot! But I have only done it that one time. Can’t wait to see what you think of it!

Judy – I am pretty sure that P90X’s recovery weeks kept the cardio up. With yoga and Core Synergistics. Enjoy your spin class and legs!

Wendy – X time again, for you? I may try that again soon, but I just can’t stay focused on one thing that long. I have done 2 rotations with it and the first one I enjoyed. The second one I thought I would go crazy!

Wendi – Oh my goodness! The poor stallion! But that would be soo tough to have to administer meds to him that often and still work, etc! Hope you enjoyed your workout!

Jackie – Good job on 4DS HIS! I love that one! I know what you mean, though, about moving onto something else before you really have something down! That happens to me all the time! Then when I get it out again….I have to basically start over!

Susan – Yummy! IHop! Enjoy HSC! I love that one!

Jess – Oh my gosh! 6.0-9.0mph! I can never go over 7mph!  You go, girl!

Christine – Glad all is well in the windy city! Good workout! Have fun!

Kristi – Job well done, spending that Christmas Bonus!!! You did good!

Shelly – I am glad you guys had such a good race! The 2 half’s that I ran this summer were very confusing on the course! I got lost on my first one and ended up going an extra mile. That was not fun! Can’t wait to see your pics! I love the shops in Venetian! Did you get a chance to go in the shops at Caesar’s and visit Nike Town? I am obsessed with going in that store! (also Addida’s by MGM!). I am with Wendy..I am tooo chicken to get on the Coaster!

Well, hope everyone has a great night! No workout for me today!

Linda

Wendy - Oh my gosh! Poor little Joey! I am glad that he is okay and that it wasn't as bad as it looked! Although, I know it was bad enough! I hate to tell you, Dearheart, but even when they are almost 30...you still worry, and worry! Glad he is okay!

Linda

>>>I hate to tell you, Dearheart, but even when they are almost 30...you still worry, and worry!<<<

GRRRR!x(

:7 ;) :p :7

Wendy - That is really scary. I'm glad Joey is okay. My DD has a tendency to lose her balance and fall out of chairs. She has refused to sit on anything but a chair since she was 14 months. It still makes my heart race when I see her take a fall. However, she is a tough cookie. DS would be screaming, but she gets up and acts like nothing happened. My girl is tougher than my boy. How did that happen? That is a shame SAHMs don't get a bonus. You need to make DH anty up the money for all of your hard work. You need more fitness equipment. :) ;) How are you liking your Bosu? Have you bought any workouts to use with it. Enjoy your night at home with DS. My DH is out with the guys so tonight I can enjoy a long workout and nice soak in the tub afterwards. I love when that happens which is not often. Both of my kids were in bed by 8 tonight. I guess I need to get off here and get started on my workout.

Hiya Cheetahs!

WHEW! Busy day at work today and I ran some more errands during lunch hour so I couldn’t get to posting any earlier.

I hope the racin’ cheetahs saw my late night quickee post yesterday, but if not, here it is again:
“Hi Cheetahs,

Gotta make it quick, got tons of homework to do but I wanted to say hello since I've not been able to check-in for a couple of days. I've been busy with shopping, errands, cleaning, appointments, and working on the *garage*...lol. Now I am WAY behind in getting my homework done so I won't be able to get to personals until lunch time tomorrow. However, i just gotta say.....

ROCK ON CHEETAH RACERS!! Sunny, Judy, Carole (and her sis), Wendy, and Shelly!!! You guys are such an inspiration!! Congratulations to all of youz!”

I was up so late last night getting my homework finished that I only slept for 4.5 hours before it was time to get ready for work. As a result I was not able to squeeze in the workout this morning. I’m feeling exhausted after such a long busy day but I’m going to try for something tonight or just get to bed early and wake up for an awesome workout.

Hi Cathy – How’s the bosu? LOL I’m really thinkin’ on where one will fit in my new *garage*….

Lorie – Sometimes being a couch potato is just what the doctor ordered. Good you had a fun weekend. By the way, your doggie in the avatar is SO CUTE!!

Lori – LOL Mr. Pick fingers…Oh gawsh, now I’m worried about cutting my hair off. I have an appointment Friday to go for it and get a A-line bob cut….or whatever ya call it. Yikes….I’m skkeerrred again - my hair is currently to the middle of my back….ugh..

Sunny – yah, I always experience a little quad soreness after a longer run. You did awesome!!!

Judy – Yes, that’s what I really need to continue with when I get home tonight – decoratemax. Are you getting a bunch of snow???

Wendy lou – So sorry about dear Joey! I know how it feels when they crash and burn right in front of you and the cry is so heart breaking. BUT….I must agree with Linda that you’ll be freaking out and worrying for life! My worst so far is when my Miss Amanda was 2 days old and was admitted to the hospital because they thought she had meningitis and did a spinal on that little tiny girl. The next scariest for her was when she was nine and crashed the toy jeep with the boys going down hill and broke her upper arm; a spiral break near the shoulder …. She was in SOOOOO much pain never heard her scream and cry like that. When I rushed her to the hospital, she cried and “owied” every little bump. Then there’s the story of my son and his dirt bike accident….. Whew..I could go on for days! LOL - Now I’ve got one DRIVING…

Wendi – I’ve had the ice sculpture car incident before…not fun. Hey, buy a treadmill instead of paying gym prices. Then you can run in between the loads of horse laundry…lol…multitasking…

Hi Kelly! Welcome, you’ll get lots of good advice here from the fabulous cheetahs..

Hi Jackie – Oh geez, I want the 4DS sooo bad….do you like the step workouts? The clips of them on the Cathe site look like they’re fun…

Susan – Oh another person that likes the 4DS. I wondered about some that are saying it is too complicated. I think Rhythmic Step has been the hardest for me to learn so far..

Hiya Jess! - LOL – if I did 9.0 on the treadmill I would end up flat on my face smashed on the belt flipping round and round! Good job…and uh hem, I guess that is why you were the initial CHEETAH in the pack….

Hi Christine in Chicago…. Hope you’re having fun. I think you’re getting a nice storm though right?

Kristi – OH SEE? Now I really have to get a Bosu!! LOL Good way to use that bonus! You go girl!

Shelly – Good job! Glad ya’ll got to make the marathon a cheetah gathering as well. Maybe you’re interested in running the Flying Pig in Cincinnati? LOL

Hi Linda – Gosh, I wouldn’t like to run an extra mile during a half marathon because the course was marked poorly. Actually, when my friend and I rode the Tour de organics in Sebastopol, CA, we missed a marked turn and our ride went from the supposed to be 65 to a 71 mile ride! Talk about using curse words! LOL

Ok folks, I gotta get out of this place and get home to make stuff for our holiday luncheon at work tomorrow, etc. Have a nice evening ya’ll!

(no time to check spelling and careless typing errors…lol)

Oh Wendy! i am sorry about Joey taking a big fall. Thank goodness he isn't seriously hurt. Yes, being calm makes all the difference.

Shelly - I am amazed that you and Carole and Karen continued to walk all evening long. But it probably helped keep your legs loose. ( or at least not too tight)

We are getting slammed with snow and wind! We did get 6 inches of snow yesterday. Then rain. Now it is cold again and has been snowing steady all day. The kids are hoping for a snow day. We have another 4-5 inches now and 3-5 more predicted over night. Yes!!!!

Just for the occasion, I down loaded 3 new Itrains! Including itread #5 indoor marathon training, and an istretch/combination

Thank you for the suggestions. I may add in one circuit and one yoga to my 3 runs and one spin class. Or maybe two circuits and just 30 minutes of yoga add on???? Oh dear....
