Cathlete
Morning, cheetah babes… :) :) :)

I am just so pumped about Chicago, I couldn't help making it part of the thread title. So, if I have this right...

Here's who's IN:
Posh & pal
Dallas
Christine
Carole
me

Here's who's a maybe:
Lorie aka WT (where are you????)
Linda

Did I miss anyone?

Christine :: Oh no!...how is Kimo? Still able to keep down the water? I’m thinking of her and hoping the poor girl is doing better!!...I went out and bought a 20 yesterday, partially paid for with a gift card I’d received for my b’day.

Carole :: I need to get on that roller, too. In fact, I think I might even get in to see a doc to head off some problems I’ve been having in my left leg—with the area just outside the knee. I suspect possibly an ITB thing, but what I’ve realized is that any problems I’ve ever had have always been with the left leg. Had the AT in that leg, turn that ankle more, etc.…And when I was fitted for the new skis this year and was given balance and wedge tests, I was told I have a leg imbalance. Once a cant strip was put on my ski to compensate for this, turning left became effortless. So, I have a feeling I might benefit from orthotics, and I think it might be better to address it now—early on in the training. Glad you enjoyed some company on yesterday’s run.

Linda :: BIG (((HUGS))) on your DD’s situation…I can imagine the worry and stress this is causing you…I hope whatever happens, it will be for the best…oh my goodness…YES!! Tell DH you are going! :7 I’ll have to look for the Bingham book. I haven’t received EKB yet, but the shipping notice went out.

Posh :: more (((HUGS)))…sudden losses bring a whole different kind of grief…good that she has such caring friends to be there through the rough months ahead…*lol* about you getting fired on the first day…I doubt it. Yeah, I don’t love it when I get backed up. It’s happened more often in the past two years than before—I think because I was juggling my graduate coursework and then this year the NB stuff…That’s great that your friend will be joining us…I still can’t believe Oprah’s time!...I’d figured I’d go with the most conservative plan out there since I have never run a mary before, but I do need to LOSE weight, not gain it.

Wendi :: ooh gosh, sorry about the knock you took to your noggin’. Hope you’re feeling better today…Yeah, I’d really gotten in deep because of the NB work of late…Next weekend – when I have to do absolutely nothing except lesson plans – will be GLORIOUS. :)

Today Jeff's plan calls for a "walk/jog." I am debating whether or not to rearrange the week's rotation once more because my leg has been a little achy. Will decide later this afternoon.

Have a GREAT day!

Good morning Cathy and all Cheetahs checking in today!

Well, Low Max or a run was supposed to be on tap this morning but it's a bit too cold (and dark) outside right now (29*) and I've got some good leg DOMS workin' from the Gauntlet and my neck is still pretty sore so today might have to be a rest day. I'll see how I feel later...maybe a short run this evening if I can squeeze it in. I've already started on CleanMax this morning, then I've got to go to work for a bit, then ErrandMax, then work again, then more Errand Max so we'll see how the day goes.

Cathy - So glad that you have a GLORIOUS weekend ahead of you :D. I do hope that you are able to nip that achy leg in the bud before it becomes anything too serious.

Time to get back to cleaning. Have a fantastic day everyone!

Good morning,

cathy- i am so very happy for you!! all of you are going to have such a good time. hope the hip feels better.

wendi- yuck cleanmax and errandmax, sorry. i will let you know re: the workout. i will keep you posted re: my trip.

christine- how is kimo doing today?

today's workout is nrolw same exercises as the first two weeks however i am now doing 10 reps. so i am going heavier!

have an awesome day girls:D

Mornin cheetahpals! Ready to start the new week off with a roar???
Got in a great fast 4 miler yesterday and after I woke up got in some good ab/core work. Today will be some upperbody work only.... or if I sleep late.... then nothing:eek:

SunnyD- Have you set new records yet with the weights?? Really looking forward to a possible GTG in June in NJ:) :D :D

Carole- Glad to hear you had a smooth 6 miler yesterday!!! Are you considering running in Chicago if things go well?

Cathy- I guess you are a tad excited eh? I sure hope you can nip this ITB issue in the bud quick! You don't need this to hamper you now!

Chrisine- Oh your poor sweet cotton ball!! (Kimo) this really threw her for a loop didn't it! Your afternoon post sounded more encouraging.... how is she today?

Linda- Sorry to hear it's been a bad week for you. Pretty understanding that you've been a little consumed with worry over your DD!! With you as support though it'll make a HUGE difference I'm sure. HUGS and prayers for you both! Please keep us posted when you can! I think training for a marathon would be great therapy for you now anyway.... does your DD run at all?

Posh- The planet of the apes talk was my fault! I was telling the cheetahs about how I had a crush on Charlton Heston as a girl:p
I'm commited to helping Wendy run her 18 miler. If she decides to join the group in Chicago then I'll come too of course.

Wendi- You are one certifiably TOUGH cheetah!! Doing Gauntlet with a concussion!!   I sure hope you can find yourself a healthier job sometime!!! (I worry about ya!) Please take it easy on yourself today..... kay?

That's all I have time for today... Hi to all the other cheetahs checkin in today!

RE: ::: CHEETAHS ::: Monday, 4.14...Chicago-bound!!!!!!...

Hi MIA Cheetah is baaaaack!

DD and I drove 1,000 miles from here to Manhattan to Boston and home. DD saw 3 schools and has definite ideas about them all. We will probably need to see a few more, but closer to home. (This is her spring break)

Oh dear I am so out of the Cheetah loop, I missed this check in. Forgive me for not being up to date on personals. I'll give it a try here:

Christine- I hope you Kimo is OK. I have no idea what transpired, but I send hugs!

Linda- It looks like you need hugs for DD too. Again I have no idea why but (((HUGS))) Are you planning on running Chicago? Great!~

Wendi- What happened to your head?

Cathy- IA get your leg issue nipped early in your training. It looks like you will have a great Cheetah turnout at Chicago!

Posh- another Cheetah who needs a (((HUG)))

Carole- how is your leg? Are you running half or full in Chicago?

Shelly- Hi! Do you have a moving date yet?

I am on week 2 of NROL. So far I do not mind the short workouts. I am going as heavy as I can on the exercises. There are only 5 exercises per workout in this stage, but they are all hit several muscle groups.

Today will be a run, hopefully 6 miles ish.

Hello from sunny Florida!!!:)

We leave this afternoon. This is my first opportunity to check in from here. They have computers in the hotel lobby but we've been busy or the computers have been in use when I had the time.

We are having a blast. The wedding was a blast. The groom was looking as hot as ever and his bride was gorgeous as well as you could probably figure. LOL :p

I read that there's a crew joining Cathy in Chicago. That's so great! Who is planning to run with her and who is planning to cheerlead? :+

I am hoping to get DH out of bed soon so that we can hit the local zoo this morning before we have to head to the airport. Check out is at 11 and we don't have to be at the airport until about 2 so we need SOMETHING to do.

On Friday morning DH played golf with my mom's BF while mom and I did some pool, took a walk, and had a lunch. Friday night was the rehearsal dinner and DH and both drank quite a bit. :7 Saturday we went to a little outdoor place that had some shops and restaraunts with my mom and BF. We ate lunch at a Spanish style tapas restaraunt. YUMMY! Saturday eve was the wedding and then yesterday we went to a really good fleamarket where I picked up a couple imposter handbags for a great price. After that we drove around Clear Water and St. Pete's by the water. My mom's BF has spent a lot of time in that area over the years so he gave us the "tour". Really pretty place. :) Last night we went to Ybor City for dinner. Ybor is the oldest town in the state. It's a historical landmark and is filled with restaraunts and bars. (pub crawl baby! LOL) We ate at a really good italian place and then went back to the hotel for a drink. We pretty much packed last night so we won't have much to take care of this morning.

K, I'm done babbling....Just wanted to check in since I had the opporununity.

I'll probably be back tmrw morning now...

BFN!:)

Good Morning Cheetahs!

Kimo is hanging in there. I was reading that it could take 2-3 days for the insulin to work, so we’ve been waiting, but she does not seem to get any better. She’s not eating, and she’s still having difficulty moving – she cannot get up without help. DH is having a tough time (she worships him), especially she does look as if she’s in pain. And the way she looks so upset if she gets sick to her stomach, is heart wrenching. If she does not get better in the next day or two, we will take her in to be put to sleep. This is no life for the dog who could out-hike all of us, including Tucker. I have ETK and a 1 mile run (with DD15 today – her initiation run :+). But that may be all. My legs are pretty sore from Saturday’s run and Sunday’s self spin class.

Linda – how tough for you with your DD’s situation! The poor kids. I cannot even image how worried you are about them, your daughter, and just everything {{{{HUGS}}}}.

Thomasina – Oh man, your poor friend. That is so hard. No one expects anything to happen to one so young. She remains in my prayers. Glad you’re getting enables. I cannot wait to meet everyone. I was thinking of coming in Saturday and leaving on Monday.

Wendi – Good for you for not having DOMS. Wow – you must have taken a tumble off that young horse! I hope you feel better today! Your balance issues are probably related to your slight concussion – take it easy! Thanks to you and Nick for the prayers.

Cathy – sounds like Chicago will be FUN! And congrat on FINALLY getting a real 20 pounder. Glad you had a gift card. It scares me to say it, but I think I’ll need a 35 pd soon. I was doing clean and presses yesterday with my 26 pound thinking that they are getting easy. Hope your leg feels better.

Sunny – Have fun with NROLW! Sounds like fun!

Shelly – How about starting the week with a little meow? :+ (Everyone is asleep). I’ll roar later. I was reading about DKA in Canines, and I guess 30% don’t make it. I don’t know. I guess we’ll see. Poor little thing.

Judy – Holy driving Batman! Sounds like she has a good idea on schools, though. Glad to have you back! The quick story on Kimo is that she went into diabetic shock. Thanks for the hugs, they are appreciated.

Wendy – Glad you are having fun in Florida. Sounds like a really nice time. Fly safe and we’ll be happy to have you back!

Well, I need to go check on Miss Kimo. Have a great day all!

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy...Smiling at the thread title today...:) I think that would be a great idea to check with a Doctor to head off some problems. Marathon training is hard enough when you are not injured! Have you discussed the leg imbalance with your Chiro? I know many runners that have benefited from orthotics. I think the roller would be a good thing to use more regularly too.

Wendi...way to go with the Gauntlet...those terminators are tough! OMG..I didn't know you had a spill and hit your head...that's probably why you were feeling a little clutzy during your workout. We have been having nice weather...today should be a bit cooler. A rest day sounds good...:)

Sunny...it is nice to up those weights!

Shelly...it is doubtful I could do a full marathon in Chicago, but you never really know...:)...I am sure I will run some while I am there. Enjoy your upper body work today.

Judy...I don't know if there is a Half in Chicago, but I am mainly going to cheer on the marathoners. The leg hip/knee is getting better. Sounds like you are enjoying NROL.

Wendy...thanks for checking in...you know you must share a pic of the gorgeous couple!! I will probably be cheerleading in Chicago. Sounds like you and DH are having a great time in Florida...those restaurants sound quite yummy!

Christine...Sorry to hear about Kimo, I can only pray she pops out of it later on today. It has to be heart wrenching to watch your dog this way...:(...Good workout yesterday. Did you find your DD some nice running stuff? Let us know how her initiation run goes...

Linda..so sorry to hear about your DD and her DH...:(...I will pray for all of them. I hope you can make it to Chicago...it would be fun to meet you! Good job on 9.5 miles yesterday.

Posh...it can be so sad to see the distraught spouse left..I hope family and friends can see her through this tough time. We got to 90 Sat & Sun!! That is cool you enabled a friend for Chicago! Thanks, I think meeting everyone in Chicago will be such a blast.

I slept in a bit today. I am going to do some freestyle legs exercises, GS Sho & Tri's, abs and 40 min on my EXT.

Have a great day...:)

Carole - thanks for the prayers about Kimo. I just wish we knew IF she would pop out of it. We're waiting to talk to the vet about all of this. DH thinks she looks more alert. I don't know. She looks the same to me. Yeah, DD15 and I got some cute running/cycling gear. She's lost 10 pounds, and looks really good.

Shelly - I had to tell you that I'm getting Straight Up Step in a VF trade for my Kettlebell Goddess workout (great workout, but I've outgrown it). I'm excited! I'm prepared to be frustrated, too, though. :p I also broke down and bought Athletic Step Jam - so I'm going to be stepping and jamming right along with you.

Drive by post for now....I hosted Bible study this AM.

For workouts:

Y-day: 4D cardio power (KB & BC - I really enjoyed that premix. Though I thought I was going to throw up during the suicide run???) and CM#2
Today: iTread #20/60, but I only got 5.8 miles in. Was definitely slower (not by much though) than the last time I did it. It's the start of phase 2/recovery week, so I have Yoga X still to do. I may sub another yoga workout though?

Oh, I looked at the training plans. There's a Basic, Basic too, etc. I want the Basic -1 or -2. ;-) Can you just do your long run outside and do all other training on the treadmill? Getting out during the week is tricky. I could give up my beloved stairs. :(

I'll be back in a bit for personals.

Good morning Cheetahs!

Cathy - I so want to come to Chicago now. You're not making it easy for me. I wouldn't be running the marathon but I could be there for support. I still have time. Hope you don't have ITB problems. Can't have that while you're training for the big event.

Wendi - Can't believe the temp drop. Sounds like a busy day for you. Hope you're able to squeeze in a short run.

Sunny - You're doing great with NROWL. How heavy are you going with the weights?

Shelly - Did you sleep late or did you get in a good workout?

Judy - Glad you and DD had a safe and successful trip. Have a good run.

Wendy - Glad you're have a great time in Sunny FL. How did your dress do for you? Bet you looking smashing! Have a safe trip home.

Christine - I'm so sorry to hear Kimo hasn't shown any improvement. ((((HUGS)))) to you and DH. Good luck to DD with her run today. Fun! Awesome weight loss for DD too!! She's going to kick butt.

Carole - Sounds like a tough workout planned today. How much longer are you doing freestyle?

Linda - So sorry to hear about DD & DH. Will keep you and her in prayer.

Dallas - Great job with the workout! When I was training for my series, I always did the shorter runs on the treadmill and the longer ones outside. It's too dark to go out running at 4:30 in the morning. Saturdays, I didn't have to worry about that because I would wait until I could see some daylight.

Today's workout was HIS. I used 65 pounds for the bent rows. I surprised myself. I matched Cathe on all the weights except for chest fly/press because I don't have 30 # dumbbells. Probably will have a little DOMS going on tomorrow.

Jackie

Quick note to say that we took Kimo back to the vet - she has pancreatitis. It's curable, but the one most likely to die from it are the ones who are overweight (Kimo), have diabetes (Kimo), or Cushings (again, Kimo) - there are a few more, but they do not apply to her. Poor girl. It is painful, too. I KNEW she was in pain. Just the way she looked at me. She's back at the vet for the day. I hope they give her pain meds.

Cathy ~ Oh no, I hope you don't have ITB issues like Jackie said. You're the only reason I signed up. :) My neighbor thinks I'm nuts. ha ha. Maybe I am? I went to that meeting to sign up for the half. Yeah, slow and "To Finish" sounds like a good plan. ;-) What was Oprah's time? We have to at least beat that, right?

Carole ~ Send some of those "warm" sun beams here. ;-) I've been out of the teaching loop for so long, I don't think I'd know what to do. ha ha That's so cool you're coming. Now will you run the marathon? The half is in Sept. and there's also one in Aug. The dread guy isn't my fav, but I think he's different.

Wendi ~ Great job on Sat's run w/tired legs. :) That's exactly what I hurt when I fell around Christmas. One week to the day, I woke with so much pain I thought I was having a heart attack. No kidding. I was so scared. That's when I started chiro appts. I hope your fall doesn't lead to anything like that. Take it easy for a few days.

Sunny ~ Thanks about the donation. :) How did the run at the track go w/the boys? I didn't know your DH was a track coach. I bet you get some good advice. Bummer you can't come here in Oct. :( It would have been so great to meet you!

Christine ~ I am so sorry about Kimo. ((((HUGS)))) That's terrible news. I'll keep poor Kimo in my prayers. lol'd you gave gave your own class and gave yourself DOMS. You animal!!! ;-)

Linda ~ I'm so sorry. ((((HUGS))) I'll keep your DD and family in my prayers. Nice workouts!

Posh ~ Thanks about TNT and the donation. I can't wait to set up that webpage. :) Did you find it helpful training w/a TNT coach? I thought this was the best option for me being a newbie. The amount I need to collect is the same if I were doing the half, so I figured what the heck (about the Full). LOL! Do you think I'm jumping the gun? I'm so not sure about this. My neighbor asked how many 5K's & 10 K's I've one....none recently. That's awesome that your friend is coming along. :) IA about the stretching. Will you do 3X's upper/body in the same day or alternate? ((((HUGS))) I was thinking of you Sat.

Shelly ~ Nice run y-day! Oh, that's it so nice of you to stay committed to Wendy. :) Could you two transfer your entry if she decides to do Chicago? That would be even more fun with more Cheetahs. I like Wendy's rope idea...during the race. ;-)

Judy ~ How are you liking NROL...? Is it hard not following a DVD? Cathe's form pointers are always timely. ;-)

Wendy ~ Hi! Glad you're having a good time. :) I went to a TNT meeting with intentions of signing up for the half, but signed up for the full. Oh boy! I think I hit my head harder than I thought in Dec. LOL Safe travels to you and your family.

Jackie ~ Thanks for the advice. Yeah, I can't leave me kids alone to run outside. I was thinking I need to be running more outside though. Way to go on the weight work!!!}(

HI to the rest of the Cheetahs!

ETA: Did anyone see an ad in Runner's World for Nike? I swear the girl in the ad is Sophia from P90X - L&B. I can't find the issue now, but when I was doing L&B the other day I was like **Where did I see her before?** Maybe it was my Health mag? I've been on a mission to find it since I did that workout recently.

mia cheetah reporting in. i have been SO NAUSEOUS the past two days!!! nothing else, just really nauseous. so, no workout for me today or yesterday (although i might try some yoga today since i got my two new eoin dvds!!! they look so cool).

anyway, right now i am just trying not to puke. x( :-(

did you all get the email about the road trips? yeah!

Good evening ladies!

I'll be back in a minute with personals but I just wanted to give you guys the heads up in case you missed Lorie's post....

!!!!!!!!!ROAD TRIP 2008!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Woohoo!!!! So when are we all going????

Can ya tell I'm just a wee bit excited/

Be back in a minute.

Shelly - I don't know about tough, maybe just stupid :p! Yeah, and my boss can't seem to wrap his head around why I don't want to do this anymore...gee, I wonder *rolls eyes*! Nice 4 miler yesterday. Oh, we know you would *never* oversleep and miss a workout, girl!

Judy - Welcome back! Sheesh, you certainly did log some serious mileage...glad it was worth the trip. No biggie about my head...one of the babies spun me off Saturday morning. The funny (or stupid)thing is that I did Gauntlet the next morning with a minor concussion (I wasn't aware of it at the time), but had a fantastic workout though :p }(. I hope you had a good run!

Wendy - Glad to hear you're having a wonderful time in sunny FL! Bring some warm weather back, will ya?

Christine - Oh, poor, poor Kimo (and all of you). {{{{{{{{{{MEGA HUGS}}}}}}}}. Congrats to DD on her weight loss...that's awesome!

Carole - I really didn't make a big deal of it because I honestly didn't hit *that* hard...certainly have hit harder on more than one occasion :(. It looks like that extra sleep super-charged you today...fantastic workout!

Dallas - Oh, I *heart* that premix...an awesome go-to workout when you want to get good and drenched }(. Great job on the run, especially the day after 4DS. Oh, thanks for the concern honey...it really wasn't that bad pain-wise just messed me up for a day. You sounded like you were in far worse shape than I.

Jackie - Had the time to get a run in but I'm workin' some serious *D*OMS today from yesterday's workout. My glutes, hammies and inner thighs have had mucho to say about that one! I decided to take it easy and just get *stuff* done today. Woohoo, WTG on matching Cathe's weights!!!

Lorie - Oh, hon, I hope you aren't getting that stomach bug that's supposed to be very, very nasty!!! {{{{{HEALING VIBES}}}}} comin' your way. Take care of yourself!

Sunny - Have fun with the heavier weights...you're a beast!

So I only ended up working, cleaning and running around today so no run. That was fine with me cause my legs are beyond sore right now...ouchie!!! I do plan on going out for a run early tomorrow morning as I have a little extra time before work tomorrow. As usual, I have no idea how long it will be...it will as long as I feel like :).

Off to get a bit of "prep" cooking done for tomorrow night. I've got flank steak that need to marinate for 24 hours so I better get crackin. Have a great night everyone!

Hey all!

Cathy – Thanks for the well wishes regarding my DD and family. I hope I can go! But..I have my doubts. I am planning on training, but if we can’t time it right with other things, I will just run Marshall. We are supposed to go to Montana for our vacation in August…and it is already booked. But….I am hoping to be able to fly out even if DH can’t. We will see! But I want to soooo bad! If you do your run/jog…enjoy! I hope your achey legs feel better!

Wendi – Enjoy your run in the morning! Great idea on the prep cooking! Hope you enjoyed your rest day.

Sunny – Good job on the NROWL!!!

Shelly – Great job on your run/abs and enjoy your upper body! My DD used to run with me, but she has not worked out at all for several months. She was the one that was going to drag me to Ca. to become certified to become a TurboKicks instructor last summer. But her Step son’s mom become really ill and passed away….and we did not go. I wish she would start running with me again! That would probably help her through things!

Judy – That is so exciting that you and DD are “college hunting!” Thanks for the hugs! My oldest DD and her DH are divorcing. She has 2 children of her own and then his two sons (her step sons). The boys mother just passed away a few months ago…so it is just very sad. Does you DD have any idea which one she is leaning towards yet? Enjoy your run. I am planning on running a marathon around that time…and I am hoping to be able to talk DH into letting it be Chicago! If not I will run a local marathon in Nov.

Wendy – That sounds like a wonderful time that you are having in Fla! Hope you have a safe trip home!

Christine _ Aww. Poor Kimo. I hope they did give her pain meds and that she is going to be okay. I joined Spark People and the Amy place last night! I haven’t really figured out how to do anything yet. When I have some time I will try to see what it is all about. Did she get sick, all of a sudden? Thanks for the well wishes regarding my DD.

Carole – Thanks for the prayers for DD and SIL! I hope I can do Chicago, too. But I am still doubtful that I will be able to. Although…at least now, there is a possibility! :>) I would love to meet all of you! Enjoy your GS, EXT and freestyle!

Jackie – 65 pounds! Lord have mercy! I could never, and I do mean never do that much for bent rows! Isn’t that what Cathe does in 4DS for Bentover rows? Eeek! Good job!!! Thank you so much for the prayer for DD and DH.

Dallas – I am thinking I remember seeing that add. It was a few months ago, wasn’t it? Sophia is so pretty! I will look through my issues and see if I can find it again.

Well, I didn’t work out this morning :<( But I knew I was going to take today as a rest day…so I guess not big deal :<)

Hope everyone has a good evening!

Linda

Good evening!

Christine - Did going to the vet help Kimo any?

Dallas - Think running outside some can only help. Gets you use to pounding the pavement. I just looked through my latest RW and couldn't find the Nike picture.

Lorie - You poor baby. ((((HUGS)))) Hope you're feeling better. Enjoy your new yoga workouts. Yep, got the email about the road trips. How cool!

Wendi - You're one tough lady to do the Gauntlet with a concussion. Glad you're ok. Yay for the DOMS! At least, you got some things accomplished.

Linda - Cathe uses 62 pounds for bent rows. Thought I would see if I could do it without killing myself. The DOMS is slowly creeping in. Hope you enjoyed your rest day.

Getting ready to watch DWTS. Enjoy your night!

Jackie

Well GREAT News! Kimo has done a 180. She's eating, and she's drinking water and she looks so much more relaxed. I'm stoked!! I thought this morning that surely we would be putting her down. I'm so happy she's doing better. I'm even researching home cooked diets for her because the commerical food the vet wants her to eat is filled with crap. I can make her foods that are better and do it easily.

Thanks so much for all of your thoughts and prayers! They worked! :D
