Good morning ladies,

I am about to do isprint 30 mins...to get in some speed work. hopefully i will survive}(

good news for me, my MIL moved out yesterday!! would you believe she didn't even say thank you for letting me live with you for almost a year for free???? any way...it's all good. i am just happy to have my house back with me and my family!

cathy- i am going to order some time this week. woohooo!

jackie & shelly- thanks for the clif block info.

christine- nice to hear from you. glad all is well with you and your family.

I have a chiro appointment this morning and then want to buy some new crosstrainers afterward. I checked Dick's, Sports Authority, and Kohl's yesterday with no luck. Running shoes are abundant everywhere, but the selection for women's cross-training shoes leaves much to be desired. Hopefully, I won't be running around all over the place. I need to spend most of today working. Later will be yoga.

Happy Monday:) Quick check in, prelude to a busy day. I'm running 8K then getting ready for a visit with my best guy friend, we were neighbours for 3 years, he's a private investigator and doing some work here in town. This afternoon I'm giving a pool lesson to a 65 year old woman that I know. Her 'gentleman friend' plays and she wants to surprise him. I worked in an arcade when I was a teen and learned to play pool then, even got me a trophy:+ I work later today.

Cathy, I need some new shoes too and I think the prices are pretty good right now. Enjoy your yoga.

Sunny, grrrrrr to your MIL, can't imagine how glad you were to see the back end of her as she left your home!

Carole and Wendy, great job on your runs this weekend. I knew it was just a matter of time before Wendy was training for a half!

Good Morning Ladies.

I'll be doing yoga today. That's it. It's technically a rest day but I am going to want to do *something*. I dropped my car off last night for a BIG service so I will be carless for the next couple of days. I will need the work out to keep me sane. LOL I may also take Joey for a walk if it's still cool enough when we would be ready to go. I'll have to see. :)

I was just looking up halfs and there aren't many to choose from around here. GRRRR. The one in NJ that I would try for is on October 21st. Seems to close for comfort for me. I was hoping for something in November! There is, ofcourse, the Philadelphia Marathon/Half Marathon on November 18 which seems more doable but also scarier some how! LOL Who's idea was this anyway!?:p

Oh my! Coffee cup is empty...gotta go refill! Will be back for personals in a bit!:)

Sunny...I have not tried the Cliff blocks (don't like the cliff bars!), but I think they are chewy like the Sharkies and for me that seems easier than gels. So you are going to get a Garmin?...cool. Great news about your MIL moving out!

Cathy...who are you tutoring? Hope your chiro appt goes well. Have you ever tried the Ryka crosstrainers? I believe it is the N Gage I have, got a good deal thru Amazon. Enjoy yoga.

Laurie...I didn't know you were a pool shark! Have a fun 8K and visit with your friend.

Wendy...hope you can find a half in the time frame you are looking for. Come to Calif, we have a few in the fall...:)

Jackie...there are a lot of fast women over 50, I know some! But in the run I did Sat, there were 8 women in the 50-59 group and 22 in the 40-49 group. Even the fastest time I have run that one would have me placed maybe 6th in my age group. This time I was 17th... I did have fun though! Hope you had a nice rest day.

Shelly..I do agree spectators can really help you in marathons or any race. You did make me feel better! I know the feeling of being helpful to someone here. It does make your week. Have fun with the BBC's this week. Did you get any good deals at the flea market?

Christine...thanks for checking in. Sounds like your workouts are going great! And quite and enjoyable day with friends and pooches.

Jess...great results with the X. Hope you can get the PC problems worked out.

I am going to do a 5 mile run, P90X CS&T and abs. I have a sore tooth so I will have to call the dentist..:(...But I will get a massage at 9:15...:)...:)

Good morning, Cheetahs!!! I have today and tomorrow off, school is without power so a mandatory shutdown - oh darn -!:7

Another health question for all of you - - - (I'm having more troubles lately) The last four days I've woken up with a horrible headache and upper backache. We got a new sleep number bed months ago and I found my 'right number' right away and have been sleeping great! All of a sudden these past few days I can't sleep at all and my upper back is killing me the headache is on the lower left part of my head and it's almost like a stiff neck only a stiff head, ya know. I changed my number - switched pillows, etc. nothing seems to work. I'm starting to get worried and my brain is of course on overtime that I have brain cancer or something - ya know how that happens??? :eek: I sure hope I can fix this soon so I really don't get worried. The pain does go away after I'm up and moving around for a while, but it's there every morning??? Weird huh?

Wendy - So you are finding a HM, huh? Great, girl - let us all know what you choose so we can cheer you on.

Sunny - WOW, I bet you are relieved to have your house back, I can't imagine having my MIL living with us for a year - WOW - you are a saint, girl :eek:

Well, I found out that the hostess that canceled her TS party last week, her mom died ;( , I feel so bad for her - I know what she is going through so I hope I can comfort her when I see her.

Take care everyone - do some kickbutt workouts today and feed yourself some awesome good food for fuel!!!

Shelly - Thank you for those wise words of wisdom and encouragement. I was reading something at work and came across this: “Don’t limit yourself. Many people limit themselves to what they think they can do. You can go as far as your mind lets you. What you believe, remember, you can achieve.” I'll be out there hitting those races again.

Christine - Good to hear from you as always. Good run for you and Jimmy.

Cathy - I knew you weren't making light of the dog chasing. See, now, that's why we need to be able to see the other person face to face. We must work on that. :7 Before I got my Garmin, I used my HRM to help me set a pace outside comparable to my treadmill. I was able to compare how I was feeling in both situtions. I do enjoy my longer runs better keeping it at a very easy pace. I don't really care about the time. Guess we are allowing all of these gadgets to dictate to us how we should or shouldn't feel.x( Hope you find some new CTX. I see we're getting a Dick's about 30 miles away from me. WOOHOO. Like Dick's on line.

Jess - Hope you feel good today. Congratulations on your progress! And, you're ready for another round?

Sunny - Glad you got your space back from MIL. That's great! How was the run?

Laurie - Hope you had a nice run and get together with your friend. A pool shark too? You are so versatile!:)

Wendy - Enjoy your yoga rest day. Can't wait to hear which half you decide to run/walk. Must have been your alter ego that came up with the idea.

Carole - I guess these faster women will give us a goal to look at. And, it never hurts to look, right?;) I haven't made up my mind what I want to do for my 5K Sunday. I don't know if I want to work on speed or just run. I'll go by how I'm feeling that morning. Hope the tooth feels better. Maybe the massage will take your mind off of it. Enjoy your workout.

I did S&H Back & Abs and the weight premix from All Body Attack.

jackie- the isprint was so hard to me yet fun! i kept at the jogger rates..i couldn't imagine the runners paces.

carole- i am going to keep a look out for those sharkies. are they like jelly beans? i hope that sore tooth goes away quickly.

marcia- i am no saint, lol. thanks for the compliment. i hope all is well with you. you are doing great!

laurie- i was the only happy person yesterday everyone else is my house was sad...i felt bad for my kids. but hey she's only an hr away.

wendy- come to nc and we can do one together on 11/11!!!}( :7 it'll be nice as the race is on the beach.

Carole :: How’d you make out at the dentist? Hope the massage made up for it!… I am tutoring a boy who will be a freshman this year. His mom wants to focus on his writing skills and study habits...I went to two local shoe warehouses and Burlington Coat Factory, but no dice. I did try on a couple of pairs of Rykas (before I'd read your tip), but somehow they just didn’t feel “right” on my foot. The pair of Asics that I liked only came in wide, and when I checked online just now, it seems they’re discontinued. So I went with another pair of Asics through Zappos.

Marcia :: I tried to PM you, but I received some sort of error message. Check and see if it went through when you get a chance…Re: your neck/back pain, I’d recommend visiting a chiro, if you are open to that.

Jackie :: Oh, OK good – just didn’t want you to take my comments the wrong way. :) I agree – it is a disadvantage to forums, texts, emails that you can’t hear the person’s tone of voice or see his/her face…Yes, I see the point about the gadgets…information is good, but sometimes it can be too much!…Dick’s is my favorite place to buy gear. Glad you’re getting one relatively close by!

Good morning cheetahs! I guess it's now afternoon for you East Coast
cheetahs. Checking in a little later than usual. I got up early to get in my long run before it got to hot. I went to my favorite country back road, lots of rolling hills but nothing monstrous. Anyway, I got in a good 12 miles. Next week I begin my official training program for my next marathon... Las Vegas, Dec. 2!!!!

SunnyD-woooohooo you got your house back!!!! I am so happy for you and I really don't know how you managed to endure that situation for so long. You should treat yourself to some new workout gear now :p

Cathy- Crosstrainers are difficult to find I agree. Actually I don't use them anymore. I do step aerobics, EXT work, strength training and other crosstraining in trail runners which have the extra support in them(for uneven surfaces) and I've found them to be much more comfortable. I have my eye on some Merrell's I think I'll be buying soon.

Laurie- So you're a pool shark too? We have a pool table in our basement, next to my workout area. DH is pretty good but I've never really gotten the hang of it I'm afraid. I do provide some comic relief to others when I play though:p :+ Have a great 8krun!

Wendy- I know what HM you are referring to in Oct. There was a table at the Sheehan Classic Expo advertising it and I remember wishing I could be there for it.... I thought their logo and Tshirts were cool ;-) Since your goal is to walk/run it and basically take it easy I think you'll be fine for this one.

Carole- The fleamarket was pretty much a bust yesterday. But to make up for it we went to Costco and spent a bundle:eek: I find it impossible to go into these kind of stores and spend less then $100
why is that? Ooooooh a massage today? Now that I've experienced one I am addicted.... I'll probably be going for one in the next month or so. Have a great run and workout!

Marcia- No work today.... what a shame!;-) Re: your headaches and upper back pain. I would suggest an appointment with a chiropracter to start with since this is so persistant and you've tried changing pillows, etc. With no other major symptoms I highly doubt that this is some systemic illness requiring medical attention.
Sounds to me like a localized spinal/muscle ache that a chiro should be able to handle. If that doesn't work, than a visit to an MD for a work up is in order. Did you do a workout today?

Jackie- I love your quote today! I'm going to write that one down and try to keep it in mind with my next race. I like your thoughts about your 5k next weekend. Keep your options open and see how you feel that day. Isn't AllBody Attack a fun workout? I was really surprised at how much I really like this one.

Christine- Great to hear from you!!! Thanks for updating us on how you're doing and I'm so happy to hear that you got a run in!!! I bet it felt good!

Jess- I am so impressed with your p90x results on your measurements and the improvements in your performance..... absolutely AWESOME!!!

Well, I can feel my muscles recovering from my nice long run. In a bit I'll tackle BBC Shoulders&arms. My sister and her DH are also coming over tonight for supper. DH will be making an authentic Italian meal (made by an authentic ItalianAmerican ;-) )

Hey Cheetahs.

Well, Long and Lean yoga is done. I did it all except for the upper body strength segment. I'm happy. Now I must shower and get myself and DS ready for dinner tonight. We are going out for DH's Birthday. We are also going to stop and get me my 20# DB's finally!}( I know...you are probably asking yourselves "Who's Birthday is it anyway!?!?" :p

Hey ladies! I just can't seem to catch up around here! I woke up w/ Greg's cold, feeling sniffly, scratchy throat, etc. Thankfully no aches or fever. I did S & H Legs & Shoulders this morning, first time. It wasn't too bad actually. I didn't feel it like I thought I would. So.... I did Cathe's Bonus Butt workout from her Rock Bottoms rotation this afternoon. }(

We were supposed to go hiking tonight w/ the kids, but the weather isn't cooperating & it is raining now. We'll see if it clears up. If not, we'll be hanging out here I guess!

Still feeling sniffly, but I'll survive. I hate summer colds! The girls are all a bit sniffly too but nothing major.

Planning on a run in the morning. (hopefully the rain will be gone by then!)

Just checking back to report that I tried to do the Seated Series I segment of Yoga for Inflexible People, but it was an absolute snoozefest, http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/28.gif so I wound up doing my own practice, which suited me fine.

Shelly :: that’s an idea to go with trail shoes…if the Asics don’t work out, I may that give a shot…enjoy dinner tonight!

Hey Ladies!

I got my DB's and found a half marathon too! :) The Philadelphia half is a new addition to the Phila marathon that takes place in mid November. It's PERFECT! It's a bit pricey compared to the half in Jersey in October that I was considering but I think it's worth it to have the extra month to train.

So DH chose "Big Ed's BBQ" for dinner. Yummy! We enjoyed it! :9

Thanks Carole for the website you referred me to! I printed out the training schedule this afternoon so I'm ready to go now!!}(

So Cheetahs...I have a question...what are your suggestions in terms of how to handle the weight training while training for a half? I obviously can not keep up the weight training pace I have been on so what should I do? I am afraid to lose all of my gains but know I have to cut back. Any suggestions on how to split it up and how many days a week to lift? Also, should I do endurance or strength work?? So many questions, so little time!:p

K, this Cheetah is off to bed now...sorry that I missed personals today but I will get to them tomorrow!:)
