***CHEETAHS***IT'S HALLOWEEN FRIDAY!***POST HERE TODAY***

GOOD MORNING CHEETAHS!

Cathy: We do have school on election day. Tallying is done. Obama was the winner. He received 60% of the votes. Sounds like you are busy! Do you get a lot of trick or treaters around you? I bet you will have some great workouts this weekend! :)

Wendy: Sounds like that class got you something fierce! So what will you doing with Joey for Halloween? Hope you had a great run!

Christine: Diwali sounds fun! Glad to hear you have been sleeping well! Great job on the GS!

Carole: IA with what you said to Cathy about runners and body type. When it comes to people's comments about it I just brush it off. Hope you had a great run and legwork yesterday!

Karen: How was the Halloween party? Great workouts!

Linda: Oooh, I am getting excited for your race! GOOD LUCK!

Shelly: My Dh is a pack rat too. Glad you were able to get a lot done and squeeze in a good run! The mock election went well. I'm posting the results below. :)

Jackie: It stinks you were having computer issues at work. I really like Itread 9. Nice run!

The mock election went well. Obama won with 60% of the votes. DH and I went to see the fam again last night. DH and I decided I will be visiting my mom on a weekly basis. She needs me to. I will be passing out candy at DH's shop tonight in my witch costume. I have been running a lot this week. Today will be yoga and some kind of weight work. Have a great day everyone! :)

Oops, Gloria and I were simul-posting this morning. Will cut & paste my post here:

Good morning, cheetahs! :)

Carole—Oh, I sooo need to be in Napa for the race and b’day celebrations! J …I appreciated reading your thoughts on the body size/speed issue and feel the same.

Christine—Don’t follow baseball much, but I did catch part of the game, and it was exciting. Am happy for the Phils. Oh OK, for some reason, I thought Diwali lasted for several days. Well, we gotta see Jim in his costume, too.

Linda—so, will the next two days be total rest days? How is Patty doing with her achilles and hamstring?

Jackie—I think parenting has gotta be the hardest job on earth. I am truly in aweof the moms & dads who work FT and raise a family. I don’t know how they do it all! The first break is next week—we have off Thursday and Friday.

Shelly—we did an outdoor field trip in the Pinelands—quite nippy out there!

Karen—nope, no punkin’ patch here. We did pass some blueberry farms, though. ;) Enjoy those DOMS.

Wendy—glad Joey’s first field trip was a happy one. Got yourself some killer core DOMS, too, I see.

Have a great day, everyone!

Gloria—no, we do not get a lot of trick or treaters around here; do you? Yeah, I’ve gotta settle for being a weekend warrior. Well, I don’t have to say much—you know! Congratulations on the successful mock election! Our student council is doing one, too.

Hi Girls.

It was a quiet day in here y'day. Everyone was busy I guess. I was cleaning and food shopping. Not fun but neccessary evils. :)

I ended up taking a rest day y'day. I was exhausted at work so I had no motivation to run afterwards. I was going to go back later but once I got started cleaning and then decided to go food shopping, I knew it wasn't gonna happen. Oh well. There's always today!:)

So today is Joey's parade and party at school. My mom is coming down for them and DH will meet us to watch the parade but then he has to go back to work. Later on we are going up to mom's to trick or treat and have dinner. I will fit my work out in between there somewhere. It will either be the run I blew off y'day or IMAX 2. It depends on if I can get in my work out when Joey is not home.

Gloria: Glad the mock election went well. So are you going to be a scarey witch or a cute witch? :) I am dressing up as a biker babe for the party we are going to tmrw. I really should get some dark make up or something. I tend to wear very little to none and it doesn't fit the biker babe image too well. LOL

Cathy: Yeah I would imagine it was a chillsome day out in the Pinelands. Hope you weren't TOO cold. The core DOMS won't let up. It's still hangin' around today yet I have apparently escaped the DOMS from B&G which NEVER happens! I was reading the comments about body size and running and those who think that just cause you aren't built a certain way that you can't be a runner or know anything about it. Look at the cover of ANY runners world mag. They are all long and lean. No wonder people think that way! No, it's not right but ofcourse, it's the media's fault for putting the image in their heads!

Yikes, gotta get DS ready for school now! I'll come back and finish up personals from y'day when I get home from dropping him off!:)

Good morning cheetahs

Gloria...I brush off the offhanded comments about runner's sizes myself. I tend to consider the source...:)..That is nice you and DH have decided on a weekly visit with your Mom. Have fun in your witch costume passing out the candy.

Cathy...I think it would be great if you could make it to Napa...:D...We have not had any trick or treaters in years. I still buy candy though!!

Wendy...Have fun with Joey at the parade and party. Sounds like a nice Halloween day planned.

Karen...So you are feeling the effects of Slow & Heavy..:)..I have not done those workouts in awhile.

Linda...that is so bizarre about your DD with asthma starting to smoke when she moved out????...Does she still smoke now? I will happy to do some legwork for you...:)...I bet you are getting excited about your marathon!!

Shelly..I am married to a pack rat too, but in no way is he an organized one! And I have sure heard that same excuse when anything gets thrown out! I bet you are in better shape than you think, even with the move taking its toll. I know we seem to be hard on ourselves...:)..I am very pleased with Mom so far about the not smoking.

Jackie...I have not heard that same comment in reference to vegetarians...but, maybe I have not been one long enough! And of cousre I agree and have learned that with any way of eating if you make the wrong choice's it will show. Good job with iTread and stretching.

Mom saw the Dr yesterday and now can start putting weight on her leg/foot! I am hoping she will get much better with the walker now.

Today is BBC C&A, I might have to mute Rich!! Then a 4.5 mile interval run "in the rain"!!!

Have a great day...

Happy Halloween All!!

Carole – ITA about non-runners tend to judge on size. I also agree that runners are a different breed. We’re all a little wacked – which makes us more fun! Glad you mom has stopped smoking. It’s takes a while to really feel the benefits, but it’s the little things that got me – like actually being able to TASTE food! Amazing! I wish her the best – it’s a long road. Love your devil smiley!

Karen – Funny how some runs are just on and others are not. S&H is a major workout, isn’t it?

Linda – Thank you for being happy the Phillies won even though you didn’t care. :D You’re too sweet! You only have a few more days before you’ll be able to lift again! Are you nervous? I’ll be cheering you on from Cali and holding the rain back!

Shelly – Way to go with getting so much accomplished! Wow! You’re house is coming right along! Yes, I’ll bet downtown Philly was a mad house! It’s a fun madhouse, but still.

Jackie – The WS game had been stopped on Monday night at the bottom of the sixth. So they only had to play 2.5 innings. It did seem weird, didn’t it?

Gloria – Glad the election went well! Did you enjoy seeing your family? Have fun passing out candy as a witch tonight! Sounds like fun! My DH puts on a mask and scares the kids. He’s more of a kid then they are some times! :p

Cathy – I’m keeping my fingers crossed that you’ll make it to Napa! It would be sooo fun! Yay Phillies!!! Hope you have a warm day after a nippy one yesterday!

Wendy – Enjoy the Halloween parade and party! I always loved that!! Sounds like a great night you have planned!

Wow, yesterday was an interesting day. We had massive lay offs at work - 30% of our work force. I’m okay, but half my job focus was taken away. It will be a bumpy ride for a while. I think it will be bumpy for everyone for a while. Not sure what I’ll be doing today as I do plan to do Tough Love tomorrow – all 3 hours of it! We’re going to have heavy rains, and skinny tires, mountains and rain are not a good mix. I’ll ride a mountain bike in the rain, but not a road bike. I might do some step. I haven’t stepped for a while. I’ll let you know. Surprisingly while I have some DOMS in my chest, I have none in my legs. None. I’m shocked. Have a spooky day!!!

BOO!

Howdy Friends,

Looks like California is finally getting a lil’ rain…well, in my area anyway…lol. Guess I’ll be getting out the rain gear for Saturday morning’s run! Actually, I like running in the rain as long as it ain’t the sideways kind!..lol.

Cathy – LOL – Yeah, they don’t call me the “nutball” at work for nuthin’…yeeeah… Hey, know what you mean about peeps and their assumptions. I can’t wait for the day people don’t look at my DH like HE is the one who ran the race! Sheet, if he goes to one of my marathons, you’ll find his happy azz parked at the buffet whilst I’m out huffing and puffing 26.2 miles…lol. Seriously though, I must say, I was very impressed with your training and outcome of your first marathon. You showed some total dedication there getting out for those long runs without a training partner – that will be inspiration for me this time round’ because I’ll be hitting the pavement with just me selves, the garmin, pepper spray, and of course the hand held water bottle while training for Napa. And you know, I run because I love it too, no matter my pace these days….just darn thankful I can do it!

Wendy – So you got some serious core DOMS, eh? So did you pick Sean or Grace? Me thinks I need to visit with Grace this morning since I’m doing the day shift today and have limited time…hmmmm…maybe one of her 40 minute jobbers outta do it…

Christine, my friend - Yes, it will be so cool to see ya’ll again in Napa! So far we got you, me, Teach (fingers crossed), and Super Carole and her sis to do some celebratin’ after the run. Is you DH coming to Napa as well for the marathon weekend? Mine ain’t – he’s staying here to take care of the barnyard, etc…lol. Yeah, our groomer is a tiny hole in the wall place near a Kinko’s in Auburn. The owner is a sweet lady and we’ve been taking our dogs (well started with Rescue) there for 10 years. She hires nice people too that take good care of the dogs – we’re lucky! Even though I think baseball is boring, I’m so happy for you and your Phillies! LOL

Carole – COOL! Well you’re gonna be the Queen birthday girl then! LOL. When are you planning on signing up for Napa? Hey, I see your DH’s Packers are going up against the mighty Titans Sunday…wonder who’s gonna win the points (you or DH)on that game! Hey, I wanted to ask you…what kind of intervals you do for interval runs?

Karen – Sorry about your mom; hope she gets well soon. Enjoy your Halloween at MIL’s with the family.

Linda – YAY! So excited for your big day on Sunday! Glad to hear some of your family will be there too. As I’ve already said, we’ll all be there too – in spirit!

Shelly – Actually, I like to have time off to organize and clean at home…and paint..lol. I plan on tackling most of the interior painting, but I’m sure there will be some holiday baking and time spent with my kids too during my time off. Lol’ing at your pack rat DH…poor guy…I know how he feels! My DH tries to throw out the good stuff too and I say, “Hey, I can use that”…and he says, “WHEN?”…..lol

Jackie – Yeah, I sure do need to get the workouts in - especially if I plan to be in tip top shape for training. Thanks re: Smokey, I hope he improves as well. I missed a call back from the Vet yesterday, so I’ll have to catch up to her on Monday. In the meantime, I’m still prayin’ for the ol’ boy…he’s so cute…I’ll have to post a pic of him on here sometime…

Gloria – Sounds like the election was fun. Glad to hear your visits with mom are going well and it’s nice that you plan to do them more often. No candy passing out here as we don’t get any kids! We used to take our kids into town for Trick or Treatin’.

Well better get hoppin’ to it here since today is a day shift! Have a Happy Halloween, ya’ll!

POSH :D

Good morning! Happy Halloween!!!

Shelly – I will be thinking of you running your last 20 miler while I run my race! :) LOL….instead of me being married to a pack rat….I think I am a pack rat! We have “got “ to get rid of so much stuff! Hopefully your DH will let go so some of is stuff! Have a good stretch of work!

Jackie – Great job on your 5 mile run and stretch! I have been meaning to tell you, did you see where Patrick released Hard Work Conditioning 2? I remember we were wondering if he had any other strength work besides Dumb Training and HWC.

Gloria – Thanks for being excited for me! I am excited, but still nervous! That is good that you will be visiting your mom weekly. Good job on the runs this week! Glad the election went well! It will be interesting to see how close the “real” election is to your mock election votes! :)

Cathy – I think Patty is doing okay with her Achilles and hamstring. LOL….now, if it me having all of these weird aches and pains! Grr! I don’t know why! My knees, my back, my Achilles, my….”might as well say….everything!” hurts! Hopefully it will feel better when I run ;) Yes, the “plan” is to take the next 2 off. Do you think I should do the 2 really easy miles on Saturday….or just take it off? If I recall correctly….didn’t you do 2 the day before? Hope you have a really good day!

Wendy – Enjoy whichever workout you decide to do! Enjoy the parade, trick or treat and party! You are a busy cheetah!

Carole – LOL….yes, I would like to “mute” Rich, too! Seems like he goes on and on and on! Enjoy your workout and run! I do believe my oldest DD still smokes some. It just kills me. I do not understand. I just want to shake her! That is great that your mom will be able to put some weight on her foot/leg! Thanks for doing my leg work for me ! ;) Yes, I am very excited about Sunday!

Christine – LOL….you’re very welcome about the Phillies! :) Yes, I am excited, but still pretty nervous! Oh my! I am glad you didn’t get laid off! 30% work force is a lot of people! Hope it doesn’t make things too difficult! Enjoy Tough Love tomorrow! Enjoy whatever you do today! I wish we would get some of that rain! (just not on Sunday, though! ;) )

Posh – I am glad you are getting some much needed rain! I like running in the rain, too! But only if there is no lightning and like you said…..no side-ways rain! Enjoy your run!
Thank you! That means a lot that you guys will be with me in spirit! I could sure use some good vibes and prayers!

Hi to everyone! Hope everyone is having a wonderful Halloween!

Linda

Happy Boo Day!!!

Hi Girls!

Sorry I've been MIA. My usually Tues or Wed catch up didn't happen because I got some bug. I had to take Wed and Thurs off from my BBC rotation. :( Happy to say I feel much better today. Just got back from DS5's Halloween parade, and going to get more candy. The weather is beautiful. I think it will be record breaking trick or treating. ;) Today, I did B&G as produced, well skipping the floor (for time sake), B&G floor abs, then 3 miles on the treadmill.

I know this day will be nutty, so I'll have to do personals tomorrow. I have to be at the kid's school in a little bit for the parties. :)

Have a spook-tacular day!!

Oh, GO LINDA GO!! I'll be cheering you on too!

The President or Director of the marathon sends us updates every couple of days. The updated weather is 46 to start and 68 for the high for the day.

But..he also sent us a link for the Entry List to check our ages, etc. I was shocked that there are hardly any "local people". (I mean within the Charleston, Huntington area). THere are several within the state...but not close by. They are mostly out of state....from Alaska, Ca, Wyoming, Texas...you name it! That scares me! If people are traveling to our little marathon...they must be really competitive! Uh oh! Okay, Linda, calm down now!

Dallas - I am sorry you have been sick! I am glad you are feeling better now! Thanks so much for the cheers! Enjoy the parties!

Good morning Cheetahs!

Gloria - Glad the mock election went well. Thanks for sharing the results. Bet you're going to be a great looking witch tonight. Have fun. I'm picking up candy just in case. Don't know if I will have any trick or treaters in the new neighborhood or not.

Cathy - Parenting was hard for me because I was a single parent most of the time. And, even during the years I was married, it seemed like I carried the entire load. A two day break will be nice for you. I get another holiday on Nov. 11. Looking forward to it. LOL at you and Gloria this morning. :D

Wendy - Cleaning and shopping should have been a workout in itself. Nothing wrong with taking that rest day. How did Joey's parade go? Hope he had fun.

Carole - Love your smileys today. Great news about your mom! Mute Rich. Yeah, that way you can enjoy looking at him. :D Hope the run went well in the rain.

Christine - Thanks for WS info. I do remember them talking about rain delaying the last game but didn't realize it meant they were finishing up a game. OUCH on the layoffs! ITA, it's going to be rough for a while. We were even asked if we would be willing to forgo our raise that's coming up in January. The majority said no because they've worked too hard. But, you know if it comes down to choosing between losing a raise or losing the job entirely, you know what the choice will be. 3 hours of Tough Love!! You go girl! Have fun.

Posh - Glad you're getting some rain in your area. We still haven't gotten a whole lot. Do post a pic of Smokey. Bet he's a cutie.

Linda - Thanks for the info on Patrick. I'll have to check it out. Get all those aches and pains out of your mind. You will do great this weekend! 46 won't be too bad for your race if the sun is shining. Still have my fingers crossed.

Dallas - Sorry you haven't been feeling well. Glad you're all better. Have fun at the party.

I did 15 minutes on the EXT, a 2 mile run, about 30 minutes of the last half of 4DS Total Body Weights premix, the core section and stretching.

New running partner called to confirm our run for Saturday. Also found out that it was his dog with the other neighbor's dog that scared me to death on Saturday. He has a yellow lab and the other one is a chocolate lab. Anyway, think the chocolate lab helped the yellow lab run away from home. He returned home yesterday. The yellow lab was not supposed to be able to leave his yard because he has an invisible fence. He will now get the juice turned up on his collar and for the time being, he's behind a real fence. Neighbor said he was not a happy camper. :D Guess the two dogs figured out how to beat the system. :D

Enjoy your day ladies!

Jackie - LOL....that is so funny about the labs beating the system. Although, I know it could have ended being bad :( I am glad you weren't hurt in anyway. Glad the dogs are "behind bars" again ;) That is great that you have a new running partner! It makes the time go so much faster! (especially if you are out on a looong run! :D

Afternoon, cheetahs—
spajder.gif

Wendy—I was bundled nice n’ cozy in my ski jacket, so I was fine. :) The kid who decided to, um, wear shorts?
shakinghead.gif
Not too happy…Personally, I think RW includes within its pages a wide variety of runners, so I don’t take issue there. Actually, I didn’t really mean to sound like I was taking issue anywhere—was just sharing an observation that people make stupid assumptions. And while that’s unfortunate, I share Carole’s view in that I consider the source and shrug it off. I’m happy to do my thing.
J Hope you had fun trick or treating with Joey.

hallcandysmile2.gif

Carole—love the festive smileys…I am working on Napa. J …you are so right about considering the source!...That's great for your mom. Love hearing that she is making progress.

Christine—ack on the huge layoffs! Glad your job is safe. Any idea what else you will be focusing on? Did you wind up doing some step? I know I would not be able to endure a 3-hour workout indoors. My hat is off to you...that does sound as mentally tough as it must be physically! Dumb question of the day: basement cat?
wavingbcat.gif

Posh—How was today on day shift?...Yeah, sometimes the folks that “look the part” don’t have a clue. I have a relative who runs and consistently makes uninformed choices, then is baffled by the outcome. In all this time, she has never bothered to read up or educate herself on the science behind running. I just don’t get that…Thanks—that means a lot coming from you. J Oh and hey, I loved that comment that we’re gonna FLY in ’09. YEAH!!!
minihex.gif

Linda—oh no! Sorry about the aches and pains…I would take the two days off if you feel achy. I ran the two on Saturday only because there was just no chance on Friday. We left at 4 am and couldn’t check into the hotel until late in the afternoon, and by that point, we’d hoofed it all over and the feets were burnin'...That is interesting that so many people fly in from elsewhere for the race. Maybe the best thing to do is not think too much. You have set a goal that the majority of folks would never attempt, you’ve put in the time, trained well, and you’re going to achieve it Sunday. (WOOOO!!!) That’s all that matters.

Dallas!—how great to see you. J Stinks about the bug, but I’m glad you’re feeling better. Hope all the parties don’t wear you out too much as you recover.

Jackie—Rich does look good, doesn’t he? Then he has to ruin it with that mouth. *lol*…Not a fan of the loose dogs, either, as you know, but I had to chuckle at the story of the two labs beating the system. My DSis had to crank up the juice on her pups because it was not strong enough to keep them contained.…Oh wow, you are my hero! I don’t think parenting is easy for anybody, but I absolutely bow down to the single parents. Two of my friends and one of my cousins are in that boat, and in hearing about their challenges through the years, I’ve gained tremendous respect for them.

Hope everyone has a great night!

Hi!

Cathy: The only time in my life that we've had trick or treaters was when I lived downtown in my college town. For the most part, I have lived in the woods. Yes, I know all about being a weekend warrior. So what did you do on the field trip?

Wendy: So how did the trick or treating go? Nothing wrong with a rest day. I don't think I scared anyone with my costume. It was pretty tame. :) I don't wear any makeup either. Your costume sounds really fun!

Carole: My coteacher said one time that runners are prone to wrinkly looking faces. I bit my tongue. I'll be 33 in January and I still get carded. You are right, leave it alone. It will just be me visiting mom for the most part, which I do not have a problem with. I did have fun tonight. I am so happy your mom has not smoked that you know of. I wish my mom would do the same. How was your run in the rain?

Christine: I did enjoy seeing my family. How cool your DH gets into Halloween like that! A three hour ride! Wow! Kudos to you! Yikes about the layoffs!

Posh: Looking forward to hearing how Smokey is doing. That would be cool if you could post pics! IA that I am not a baseball fan.

Linda: It sounds like you are nervous for the marathon. YOU WILL DO GREAT!! You have trained well. I am confident in you and can't wait for the report! :):):):)

Dallas: Sorry you caught a bug! Glad you are feeling better! You must be with that workout plan! :) How nice the weather is cooperating for the kiddies tonight!

Jackie: The kids loved my costume! :) I bought these skeleton earings that I found out today were clip ons. OUCH! I had to keep changing where they were on my ears! I couldn't go without them so I suffered through the pain. :) Good idea picking up the candy just in case. Any takers? I also bow down to the single mothers. :) Dogs are smart critters!

Halloween at an elementary school is as crazy as it gets! We had a parade downtown and the kids ate sweets to the point where their bellies hurt! LOL! At the shop I passed out full size candy bars and Hannah Montana/High School Musical pencils. It was pretty fun. Today I ran 5 miles. I know I said weights, but my brain has been busy, so I thought that would be best. I also did 15 min. of Rodney Yee Power Yoga.

I have been examining my training journals and found that I ran my best when I did yoga every other day. We will see if I stick to it. :)

HAPPY HALLOWEEN CHEETAHS!!!!
