::: CHEETAHS ::: Friday -- flippin' sweet, man!

Lorie, I have to agree. If he lets you slip away over this...well, he'll have had made the biggest mistake of his life over something SO inconsequential...OK, so the plan didn't come off exactly the way it was intended. So, mom's a little tiffed. Deal with it. It shouldn't be a deal-breaker. You were caught in a tough spot, and you made what you believed was the best choice.

What's interesting is that it sounds like he's not all that close to his mother, yet he seems to be accepting her "word" over yours.

Cold feet/pre-wedding jitters sounds very plausable to me. I'd let him "cool off" for a few days and maybe once you've both had a little bit of time you can sit down and talk about it calmly. It really is something that I totally can't see allowing to ruin your plans.

I'd be intersted to know what his mom's side of the story is....

oh, i'm sure it's something like i called her and just spilled everything because i felt like it. i can just imagine.

UGH! If your DF and her are not close then perhaps she just used a bit o' mom's guilt trip tactics on him. They should wear off in good time and you should have your man back in tact in no time!

IF i want him back. he is being such an a$$!

i am so glad i have you guys...

ETA: am going to go veg with tivo and ignore the phone should it ring

Lorie - That's why I'm SOO happy my MIL lives in India and does not speak English! You had no option. His mom asked you flat out and your either had to tell the truth or lie. OF COURSE you're going to respect his family enough to tell the truth. But, as families always seem to know all the buttons to push, mom was miffed at being ignored and sounds like she pushed his buttons very well. (I don't know - maybe she didn't, but this is what it sounds like to me).

I agree with Wendy, give him a few days and then talk to him. I might also approach his mom and talk to her. Explain that the intention was not to exclude anyone but that you and he felt very strongly that you really wanted the wedding to be between the two of you. Can you compromise and keep her out of trouble, but giving her the task of planning a celebration party for when you get back? Does she like to do those kinds of things (would you like her to?)? She's upset because her baby is finally settling down and she is not included. If you have her plan a party for you, maybe she'll feel more included and back off a bit? Just a thought.

I second and third Christine's and Wendy's suggestions, respectively. Great point Christine made that family has the ability to push our buttons like no other. So true. He'll cool off. For tonight, the Tivo plan sounds like a good one. (((HUGS))), Lorie. We're with ya!

OK, I just finished 4DS KB (thanks, Wendy! You da bomb) but will be saving SC&C for Sunday as I didn't have any weights planned. I had to modify and not do any jacks or jumps near the end. Same ol' story. This stupid back problem. I didn't want to push on if I can't give it my all. So, I'm gonna shower and then apply heat. Will probably BBIAB and see if anyone's still around.

OK, any experienced fake bakers: here's a dumb question. I went for my third tanning session today and my stomach keeps getting slightly burned. So I examine the bottle of lotion they sold me (I should've asked questions or noticed this sooner), but dopey me, I just assumed the lotion would contain SPF. It doesn't. What lotion do/did you use? TIA.

Cathy: When I tanned I bought lotion from the salon and it did not contain spf. In fact, I don't think any of them did TBH. I don't know if there is such a thing in a tanning salon! I went to a salon though, that took a very personal approach to a customer's tanning and they were very careful with my friend and I. They put us in appropriate beds for an appropriate amount of time according to our skin type. I was a little pink after the first session but after that I never burned at all. Perhaps they need to pay closer attention to what bed they put you in and for how long. Just a thought based on my experience ofcourse. :)

Valid point Lorie and that is your call to make. We will back you up all the way!

Good. Try to get your mind off it for a while. Try to relax. I know it's probably hard...but try. :)

Thanks, Wendy. It's not exactly super-personalized attention, but they do ask how I did the last time and recommended that I only do 6 minutes, not the full 8. I think it's just that my stomach has not seen the light of day in AGES. :)

I guess you could put your own store bought lotion with spf in it on your stomach. I don't see why not...
If you ask them they will probably try to convince you not to for whatever reason so I wouldn't even mention that to them.

I went to a privately owned tanning salon so it was the only one these folks owned. It was a man and wife and they ran it with very little outside help so they put alot of their hearts into the business. In fact, my BF and I got really friendly with them and would hang out after tanning often times to yap with one or both of them depending on who was there. They were super friendly. It was nice. :)

Unfortunately it's also pretty unheard of in this day and age!x(

I think I'll give it one more shot and see if I get pink again. Then I'll use something with a little SPF. I only have a few more sessions before the cruise.

Those kinds of mom n' pop places *are* rare these days. I am going to Hollywood Tans. What a cast of characters in that joint.

I've never been to a Hollywood Tans. I'm sure it is interesting! LOL There is one right down the road from me. I would use it if I wanted a quick fake bake for a vacation but I am sure it would be nothing like the customer service I was used to when I would go...
