Cathlete
Good morning, cheetahs!

Well, it got me. http://s228.photobucket.com/albums/ee296/runninteach/animals/th_beastie-1.gif Just when I thought I was safe. Last night and this morning, I woke up with a sore throat, this time hardcore. I just feel lousy in general. And is it any coincidence that I spent yesterday grading and handling the kids' notebooks? I am starting to think I need to grade papers wearing rubber gloves. The cycle of germs is just endless. Anyway, today the kids are off, but we have teacher in-service and I am debating whether or not to go or call in sick. I've never done that before when a substitute is not required, so I'm not sure what the protocol is...

Jackie :: http://s228.photobucket.com/albums/ee296/runninteach/happycelebrations/th_wtg.gif on your 10-miler. You did GREAT on what sounds like a tough, tough course! This series does sound like it'll leave you well-prepared for the half. Loved reading your race report.

Christine :: thanks for the initial feedback on Forrest. I get impatient when poses are held for too long, too, or repeated too often.

Carole :: thanks for joining in the dance...and now for the bad news: I stepped on the scale this morning and received error messages three times...and then: I am up 4 lbs. in 24 hours. Wha??? What a BUMMER. Actually, I am thinking of some other choice words right now, but since this is a family-oriented thread, I will keep those to myself. Anyway, I guess my big (false) loss was just a water fluctuation, and I got excited for nothing. :( Boo. I did lose 1.4, though.

I'm just one big ball of sunshine this morning...can ya tell? *lol*

Hope everyone has a GREAT day!

{{{cathy}}} please take it easy and don't try to go run 9 miles or something crazy like i would do when i am already getting sick. i do think it is interesting that you got full-blown sick after handling the germies, i mean kiddies, stuff! when we went to the hotel on saturday, i brough a giant can of lysol and sprayed EVERYTHING! i just wanted to make sure.

oh, also, i don't think you can gain 4 pounds in one night. maybe it's water...who knows?! just don't get too down about it.

i have been trying to catch up on the posts. i do remember shelly reporting on the race. i was telling rob all about it and how cool i thought it was. WAY TO GO, SHELLY!!! i can't believe you ended up doing an extra 2 miles!!! i think i would cry once i realized i was lost!

i *think* i am going to attempt a BBC workout today. i have had those workouts for over a week and have been too sick to try them. i am really anxious to at least try them. you know i want to do an iTread (to feed my addiction) but i think i would just get upset because i wouldn't do that well (i still have a nagging cough and a little congestion). we'll see.

i hope all you lovely cheetah women have a great morning. lol on the ch, ch, ch, cheetah (chia) thread...that's just the theme i was going for! ;)

Good morning Cathy! I would think this would be an ideal day for calling in sick considering that a substitute isn't needed. This is a period where you would be most contagious anyway, so I vote to baby yourself today and rest:) You are on the right track about needing gloves. Alot of people think cold viruses are spread mainly through the air with coughing, sneezing. By far, the major culprit is our hands though.
How often do you weigh yourself? I try to avoid daily weigh ins for just that reason. The water fluctuations can be frustrating and if you exercise alot, these water losses/gains can be significant as you well know. Anyway, you are still making progress in the right direction!!

Well, I am feeling more soreness this morning then yesterday so it's good I'm planning to rest today. I especially feel it in my ankles and the lower lateral shins from running on such uneven surfaces for so long.... and some quad burn of course from the downhill part!
Anyway, nothing serious or debilitating:)

Jackie- You did an amazing job yesterday considering the difficult of the course!!! Congratulations on another solid performance in a hard race:7

Carole- thank you so much for your consoling words about my getting lost on the trail. I was feeling pretty down on myself for doing that. My friend Janet (the mule rider) told me that she redirected a runner going the wrong way. The trail wasn't well marked in a lot of places. Another acorn assault????? I'm thinking you should be wearing armor when you step out your door!;-)

I hope all the cheetahs have a fabulous Monday. BTW, if you are curious, the winner of the Man Against Horse race, both the 25 and 50 mile was a rider this year! That hasn't happened in a LONG time. Usually a runner wins because of the delay time at the mandatory vet checks for the horses. If you think this race was unique, wait til you hear about the one I'm doing in a couple of weeks- Oct. 20th!!
(A teaser}( )

Good morning Lorie! I actually did feel like crying in despair when I realized I had run the wrong way for a mile, but I ended up cursing at myself instead;-) Ah well, I survived and made it to the finish line still running (sort of) ;-) and that's what counts.

I guess you're feeling pretty much recovered now! :7 I think you will absolutely LOVE the BBC workouts!

HI Cheetah Girls :)

Happy Thanksgiving to our Canadian Catheites :)

Cathy- Did you stay home today? It was probably a good idea to nip this quickly.

Carole- Are you sure the squirrels are not throwing those acorns at you?

Jackie- Your race report was great, and your time was too! Thank you for giving us the details.

Lorie- The lysol was a good idea. I may have to start doing that. It seems like we are in hotels often with kid commitments.
Give us a review of BBC.

Hi to all cheetahs who post later :)

Today is a non running day. It can be a kickbox or a total body weight or a circuit. I'll decide when I get to the workout room.
Yesterday I was driving and there was a skunk running around in circles on the double yellow line in the middle of the afternoon. It caused traffic to be stopped in both directions. I finally turned around and chose an alternate route. Later when I had to go on that road, the distinct smell was present. Perhaps that skunk could have been rabid? It was within 2 miles of our house. I'm wondering if I should call animal control to pick it up. I don't want my cats getting caught up with a possibly rabid skunk.

edit: Hi Shelly! You are not doing another crazy race girl ?! And why are you up so early?

Good Morning Cheetahs! I'm back.

I got home about 3:30 yesterday afternoon and we immediately took off to pick up DS from MIL's and head over to my mom's to go out for dinner with her and her BF. I totaled between 8-10 hours of sleep between friday and sunday so needless to say I was exhausted. We got home from dinner just before 8pm. I got DS into bed, and was lying in bed with my HP book by 8:30 myself. I ended up not even reading. I just passed out. LOL I slept like a baby until almost 6:30 this morning! I needed that!:) We had a blast. Lots of food and drink and hangin' out. Gambling was actually what we did the least of though I still managed to lose some money! LOL My BF and another girl are still there this morning. They have off from work today so will be coming home once they feel they've spent enough money I guess. :7

I ran a 25 min interval run in the hotel's gym on saturday morning. Sunday I rested.

Hafta get back to reality now. Work this morning. UGH. I think I'll continue with BBC this week and kick it off with the full body work out. It's a KILLER!}(

Gotta go suck down some coffee and try to read through the 2 days of posts I missed. Though I must say that I DID scour the posts to find Shelly's race report already!!!!

GO SHELLY! GREAT JOB! Sorry you made the wrong turn but even so you did phenomenal! It sure didn't dampen your spirit or drive! WOO HOO!

Off to grab more java....:)

Well, that decision just became a whole lot easier. I couldn't reach anyone in the office, so I thought ehh, I can make it - let me try to go in. Just as I was getting ready to head out the door, I threw up. Blecchh!

Lorie :: have fun with BBC! Are you doing the weights, the cardio, or both?...Easing back in sounds like a good idea...*lol* No chance I'd be attempting 9 miles even on a good day right now!...Today is my yoga or stretch day, and even though I feel like hell, for some reason, I mentally want to do a more intense workout. I think that ol' obsessive mentality is starting to kick in with me again. But I know (after learning the hard way a few times) to listen to my body...At school, I am diligent about washing my hands often and using the anti-bacterial, avoiding touching my face, etc. But I don't think I was careful about that yesterday.

Shelly :: I weigh myself once a week now for WW. (Before that, I was weighing myself less often. Maybe once a month along with measurements.) I read somewhere recently that people who weigh themselves daily are more likely to be within healthy weight range, I guess because they monitor when they might be gaining and take steps to reverse it...Yeah, you're right...the exercise can have a big impact...thanks! For putting it into perspective :)...Sounds like your legs could benefit from a nice, long massage - or maybe some time in the jacuzzi...I think anyone could have easily gotten lost out on that course, so no self-bashing on that one!...A teaser??!! No fair! Come on! Spill it!!

Judy :: that is pretty weird skunk behavior...I think it couldn't hurt to call animal control...Have fun w/ whatever workout you choose!

Wendy :: welcome back! You were missed this weekend. Glad you had a blast with the girls.

By the way, did you all see that a marathoner in Chicago DIED yesterday??? The heat was in the 90s...Apparently, 10,000 of the 45,000 runners did not finish.

cathy, i am glad you decided to rest. i think i had to learn the hard way this past week and it really killed me. i will definitely be listening to my body more when i am feeling run-down or like i'm coming down with a cold.

wendy, glad you are back and had a wonderful time!

judy, it does sound like there was something wrong with that skunk. i would definitely want to keep it away from my pets.

so, i did bbc total body workout. it DEFINTELY was killer!!! there were times during i was really sucking wind!!! there was NO WAY i could do all those burpees, though! i actually felt really, really good after and decided to do bbc chest and abs with the cardio. i didn't like the cardio as much on that one, but i still got a great workout! i just really felt like after such a long time off, i really needed to sweat. unfortunately, i am already feeling my chest muscles and KNOW i will be feeling major doms tomorrow.
all in all, i can definitely see using bbc. i really liked the workout, music, and the two instructors i have done so far. i am going to see if i can get DF to try it, but i don't know.

i do feel like i can attempt an iTread tomorrow (depending upon whether or not i can move my arms).

anyway, off to shower. i hope i can lift my arms to wash my hair!!!

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy...so sorry you got the bug...a sore throat and barfing....yukky! Sending healing vibes your way. I am sure the weight is water. And 1.4 down is still a good thing...:)..Yes, that was awful about the marathon runner dying. You have to be so careful running in warm temps.

Judy...that is funny as a friend of mine said the same thing to me about the squirrels! I am sure that skunk was rabid. You might want to let animal control know about it. I would not worry about your cats, they are good about steering clear of the skunks. In all the years I have had cats I have never had one get sprayed, just my dogs.

Shelly...my sister and I got lost on a trail race once. It was nice to be with someone instead of alone! The trail was marked good but we were gabbing and didn't pay attention, we hitched a ride in a pick-up back to the course. Yes, that would disqualify us but we were not anywhere near placing anyway so we didn't tell...My ankles are always sore after long trail runs, my nephew (chiro) is good about adjusting them. I'd say you deserve a rest day today. Now I am curious about your next race...:)

Wendy...sounds like you had a great time in AC. Have fun with BBC Full body.

Lorie...I think I only did BBC Full body once, those burpees are tough. Good workout to get back into it...so happy you are feeling better.

I am doing GS Shoulders, abs and a 4 mile run. Then one of Susan's favorite things, getting my teeth cleaned at the Dentists.

Have a great day...:)

Good morning ladies,
Just a quick check-in for me today. I took a rest day yesterday and today I am going out for a 3 miler. I took a week off the running because of the hip flexor soreness, but I am feeling good, so, I will give it a go:) I will then do the butts and gutts lying leg work.

I have been eating very cleanly. I have not lost the 3lbs yet, but hope to soon. We are going to Chevy's though today for a friends birthday. How am I going to eat healthy at Chevy's? Please don't tell me not to eat the chips, PLEASE!!!!

Well, my cat is driving me nuts waiting for his fancy feast(LOL)!

Have a great day ladies!

Susan

Hey cheetahs-
Just woke up from a nap and had to get up.

Lorie :: glad you enjoyed BBC! Those burpees are insane, aren't they?...Sometimes it is hard to listen to your body when your mind is telling you go, go, go...So, is your district open today?

Carole :: *lol* about going to do Susan's favorite thing...thanks for the healing vibes...I'd like to nip this quickly...I definitely have to go in to work tomorrow...I meant to draw your attention to this thread the other day, but I forgot: http://69.0.137.118/dc/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=4&topic_id=445307&mesg_id=445307&page=2 Fondest regards from Helga!

Susan :: enjoy your run + B&G. Glad the hip flexor is better. We don't have a Chevy's out here, but I seem to recall you Cali girls saying it's Mexican. In which case I can only wish you luck! I would not be able to resist the chips. Can you allow yourself one cheat meal this week?...*lol* about the fancy feast.

UPS just delivered the BSN Lean Dessert Chocolate Fudge Pudding. It tasted like chocolate cake mix. Oh hell. I may be doing a protein shake for lunch.

Hey ladies,

found a few minutes so i am checkin' in with ya....:)

cathy- ohhhh, i hope that bug goes away soon. it's hard when you don't feel well. sending healing vibes your way....i just bought that BSN protein and haven't tried it yet. glad you like it!! now i can't wait...lol

shelly- what an awesome race! please you must tell us what you are doing on the 20th, pu-leazzzzzzz:D

carole- you always have the best workouts planned.

lori- hello i don't think you were posting when i left for awhile. glad to "meet". i am also another itread junkie}(

wendy- sounds like you had an awesome time with the ladies. i need a ladies night out:+ . how is your HM training coming along?

susan- enjoy your dinner tonight. we don't have a chevy's close by, but when i lived in nj i used to frequent that place. they make such awesome food.

today i am going to a place that just opened up. they cook and assemble all of your (healthy) meals for you!! they came highly recommended. i get 6 dinners (which feeds 3-4) for $68. if all goes well with them i may never have to cook again....lol

today i did S& H legs and shoulders. haven't done that one in such a long time. i enjoyed it}(

Hey there lovely Cheetah ladies!

Cathy – sorry you’re sick!! That really sucks. But, yeah, I hope you’re at home relaxing. Those things can get out of hand. Hope you feel better soon!!! I don’t mind slow yoga (I did Yoga Burn this morning and LOVED it again), but when you hold poses forever – nah. I’m going to do the 30 minute version to see if I like that better. And I would not worry too much about the weight gain. I fluctuate 3-4 pounds on a weekly basis. I do weigh myself every day, but I only take it seriously and take measurements on Fridays. And YES! I was listening to the news about the Chicago Marathon – they actually ended up cancelling it because of the heat!

Lorie – Enjoy your BBC workout! Be careful about running and doing a lot of cardio with a chest cold (if it’s a head cold that’s different). You don’t want that stuff coming back, I’m sure.

Judy – Enjoy your Kickbox, circuit or total body workout today! AC should pick up the skunk anyway, but it would not hurt to call them to voice your concerns. That’s not typical skunk behavior. If rabies is in the county, they will want to know. *has fingers crossed it was just confused*

Shelly – You are simply amazing! OUCH! And you’re going to do some more crazy stuff? I do bow down low! I want to hear about the Oct 20th race! Tell us please! Glad you’re feeling pretty okay! Enjoy your rest day! If it makes you feel any better, when I was climbing Mt Whitney (hiking), we went the wrong way and added 2 miles to our hike – we ended up going a mile up the mountaineering trail which is pretty straight up. It ruined my knees for the rest of the hike and I was miserable. But I did it. Not quite as far as you – this is 22 miles round trip – but it is also a 6000 foot altitude gain. I was not in the shape I am now, though.

Wendy – Glad you got a run in and had a wonderful time! Gotta love those girls weekends! Getting back to reality sucks, doesn’t it?!

Carole – Have fun at the dentist! :+ As for skunks and cats… My friend in Silver City, New Mexico had his cat get sprayed. I was going to stay with him for the night, and I had just gotten back from a 20 mile mountain ride in the pouring rain on which I bashed the crap out of my knee. He answers the door, his hands covered in tomato juice, took one look at me and rolled his eyes. “This day just keeps going from bad to worst!” It was funny. I made it up to him by taking him out for a great dinner at a theater in the mountains. :p

Susan – enjoy your 3 miler! I’d never tell you not to eat chips! Just get a salad with them, though, and have salsa for your dressing! :p

Hey Sunny! I hope that the healthy dinner place works well for you!! That’s not bad at all price wise! So cool!

I did Yoga Burn this morning, then decided to follow it with Imax 2. Was going to go for a run, but had some lower GI issues last night (I think I got some bad zucchini – I had that before my last bought of issues) and decided that I did not want to be in the middle of a neighborhood with no restrooms! Good thing, too. Imax 2 was fun – hadn’t done it for a while. I’m at home right now – I have to take Jimmy into the vet at 9:15 to have his stitches out. He’s back to his usual goofy self. He even jumped on top of me this morning during yoga, miffed because I was not paying attention to him. I’m so happy about that. Have a great day everyone!

Sunny :: it's always good to see ya...thanks for the vibes...Which flavor of BSN did you get?

Christine :: I like Yoga Burn, too. I like that the poses are repeated only three times...and it's slow but not TOO slow... That's what I'm going to do with the scale - check every day just to keep an eye and see what's a typical variation for me, so I don't get all excited next time I'm down by 5! *lol* Sorry 'bout the GI issues...that's when you have to nix a run. What could be worse than being caught out there under those circumstances? Glad to hear Jimmy boy's back to his ol' self again. :)

Shelly :: yoo-hooooo, where are you? You're not really gonna leave us hangin' like that, are ya? :p :7

YAY!!!
I did 4.3 miles and it felt great!!!! Now, I am off to do the floorwork and stretch.

Cathy,I hope you feel better. I had to run that extra mile for the chips I WILL consume, but I doubt that extra mile will make a difference}( I never even thought about getting germs from the school papers, YUCK!!! Chocolate cake mix???? That sounds yummy!

Lorie, I really like BBC. I like the shoulder workout. It kills and it is fun! Don't do too much though, you want to get better so you can get back to running. I know how hard it is to rest though. I am HORRIBLE at that:)

Shelly, I think you are amazing. So what you ran the wrong way for a bit, you still ran 27 miles. That in itself is amazing. I know that you are a competetive little cheetah though;-) Shoot, I just want to get to 6 miles(LOL)!

Judy, a rabid skunk?, Oh my. You are very thoughtful to call animal control. Enjoy whatever workout you choose:)

Wendy, great that you got a workout in the gym while you were gone. That is a true cheetah:) Have fun with BBC full body. I have never tried that one. How long is it?

Carole, Have a DELIGHTFUL time at the dentist. I actually did not mind it this time. I got a clean bill of health. I was stunned. I guess it is all the flossing I do now. Enjoy your run and throw out that dang scale}( I will think of you when I eat my chips and salsa. I know that is a fave for you.

Sunny, so nice to see you here. Glad you enjoyed slow and heavy legs. I am too wimpy to try that one;-)

Christine, I have never done yoga before a workout. What a great idea. You are right, a salad with my chips would be good. I do love the monster burritos though... GLad to hear your buddy is doing well. He is so cute!

Okay ladies, I am off to finish the workout. Have a great day!

Susan

Hello, Cheetahs!! I'm back from my girls weekend, a trip to Memphis, TN w/ my best friend for a wedding!! It was soooo fun, we had a BLAST!!! I missed Greg & the girls but they survived w/out me! He actually did a fabulous job & they even managed to keep the house pretty clean! They made a cute graveyard outside for Halloween & a *ghost* in the tree, our neighbors have been driving by slowly to read the tombstones!! :)

I'm doing really well. I'm absolutely loving this round of P90X and seeing more definition everywhere!! I'm also doing a pushup challenge on the MDB board so I'm doing an extra 120 pushups (yep, on my toes) a day. I even did them in my hotel room, my best friend already thinks I'm a nut! ;-) I used the hotel treadmill on Sat, and my rest day was y'day so it worked out well for the traveling home.

I got my coach's package of workouts so I tried out Turbo Jam Dance party w/ weighted gloves this morning. It was sooooo fun!! It's my recovery week so I'll do YogaX later. The girls are out of school today & Hannah spent the night w/ a friend.

Time seems to be going fast, Hannah's doing Taekwondo, Kiersten & Allison are doing gymnastics, and Girl Scouts!! Every night someone has something going on, so I feel like soccer Mom! It's fun though & they are loving it!

Just wanted to check in on the Cheetahs!! My 2 running buddies ran the Chicago Marathon y'day but I haven't talked to them to see how they did. I know a few others than ran it in that horrible heat, it sounds like an awful day!!!

Have a good day!

Hello Cheetahs!

Jess I love your site!

I pray for those poor marathon runners in Chicago yesterday - I know the heat was crazy. When I heard the story on the news this AM I thought of my Cheetahs! I wasn't sure if anyone was running in it.

Today I did Leslie Sansone's 4 Fast Miles. I love that workout!

Tomorrow I hope to do KickMax! I dread it because it is so hard!

Cathy - kids papers are so germy. Take care of yourself!

Have a great day all!

Amy :)

"Life is short so enjoy it!"

:::::CHEETAH :::::

Cathy...thanks for the link to that thread...I posted back to you...:)...Enjoy that chocolate protein shake.

Sunny...Sounds like those meals are a good deal. Good job with S&H...those are good workouts.

Christine...maybe the skunks in NM are smarter...:)...Interesting story, I can only imagine trying to give the cat a bath!!! Nice of you to treat him to dinner...:)..Sorry about the lower GI issues. Sounds like you got in a good workout. Great news that Jimmy is once again his spunky self!

Susan..enjoy the chips and salsa. I just hope the dentist does not find any work to do but the cleaning..Way to go on the 4.3 miles.

Jess...good job with P90X. I bet it feels great to see more results.

I thought my legs might feel a bit heavy on the run today, but they felt great. I am so happy the Chi running has helped me get under the 10 min pace...now I just have to work on getting under a 9 min pace...:)

carole-burpees...tell me about it! i felt like they were throw-upees!!!

susan-the shoulder work just on the total body was killer. i can already feel it!!! i didn't realize how difficult it is to hold your arms up and circle them for so long!!! ouch! i am the same wasy with resting (or should i say not resting) the guilt and slovenly feelings get to me even though they are unfounded!!! grrr.

cathy-yes, my district is open today. it would have been nice to have a monday off when i am actually able to enjoy it instead of being sick in bed. how are you feeling? take it wasy because i really think that i made myself MUCH sicker by working out everyday when i knew i wasn't feeling well. i have learned my lesson *hopefully*.

sunny-no, i wasn't posting before and am sorry that i had NO idea what i was missing. what a terrific group of women!

christine-i am taking it easy and i am going to listen to my body. if i don't feel up to working out tomorrow, i won't (famous last words). i definitely realize i can't jump up and run 9 miles tomorrow and i am going to see if i should start out with joggers' pace next time grace and i work out together. my name is lorie and i am an addict...

btw, how's jimmy?

jess-i can not even fathom EVER being able to do 120 pushups on my knees. i'm not even sure i can do 20 pushups on my knees!!! i definitely wasn't doing that today during bbc chest!
