Cathlete
Mornin’, cheetahs! :D :D :D

I didn’t make it back here yesterday…Wound up not getting home until 6-ish (I had a late & long lunch meeting with a supervisor/mentor after tutoring) and opted not to do PLB. I’ll shift it to Thursday when I have my next run planned. Today’ll be PUB + 200 walking lunges.

Now let me get caught up with personals…

Laurie :: only 3 more days at the clinic! Yippee!!! Sounds like you’ve been runnin’ around quite a bit. I have been slippin’ back into dirty eating the past couple of days myself. Gotta snap back out of it.

Carole :: nothing fancy ~ just used regular ol’ Betty Crocker mix to make a marble cake (no frosting)…yeah, I think I clicked on “email” instead of “PM” accidentally…I love the Champion shirts at Target…there is a wicking V-neck style that feels like cotton, not the slippery feel that a lot of performance wear has…I have them in every color!…Hey, we had a similar workout planned yesterday, though I never managed to get in PLB.

Shelly :: got the email ~ thanks!…Yes, I’ve noticed you do split your workouts. Do you think there is greater benefit to doing it that way, other than possibly having more energy?…I would *love* to take a class with you, but unfortunately for me, Friday is Advanced Step, and that is something I’d have to decline. Now, if there's a Remedial Step on the other hand… :)

Jackie :: I do have Aquaphor in a tube, but it’s too big to fit easily into a pocket…great workout! I am going to check out Yoga Zone…that sounds like something I’d be interested in…I made a simple marble cake.

Susan :: I rec’d your PM…thanks! Is your flight landing at 6 pm? I think I heard one of you say that…Chiro & massage – what a great combo! I think I would snooze on the table.

Amy :: how’s the jet lag?…Your avatar is up now ~ you look so pretty! Hope you can share more of the Hawaii pics (but not if it keeps you up all night!) How's the heat up there in Boston?

Elaine :: yes, I had to re-register to change the screen name…I wasn’t comfortable with a name that sounded like I might be looking to acquire weapons…My summer has been good…I’m working and relaxing…As for whether or not I’m sharing the cake, I will have to plead the 5th on that one }( ...Sorry the PF continues to plague you.

Sunny :: new gear!! Enjoy!

Hi Kristi, Jess, and Marcia...hope I got everyone!

Have a great day!!

Good morning all,

cathy- what a workout planned today. enjoy all of those walking lunges. my next outddor run isn't scheduled until sat. so that's why i have to wait until then to break in my garmin.

elaine- yes i found the foam roller in the exercise section of target. i got lucky because i picked up the last one. maybe you could check online if your store doesn't have any in stock.

today's workout is an outside 45 min bike ride. this will be the first time i take my bike outside of my development. you know i was thinking the other day it's funny when you are a child the things you do just for fun that now as an adult are actually hard work, lol.

have a great day to all in cheetahland:7

Sunny :: have fun exploring on the bike today! You are good about adhering to your plan. Delivery of a new toy would mean I'd change everything. :) Haaaa on the lunges.

Gayle :: if you stop in, I PM'd you with a PA question.

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy...I totally forgot to email you yesterday...so I did 1st thing this morning...:)..I think those Betty Crocker mixes work very well. I got a champion shirt at Target too. I might get a few more for the RT if I like it. Enjoy the walking lunges and PUB. So what do you think about a cheetah run friday morning?

Sunny...your treading class sounded fun yesterday. Sprints and hills I bet was tough. Have a good bike ride. I agree about it being fun as a kid and a lot more work now! I remember my 1st few mountain bike rides.

Shelly...sounds like a killer workout yesterday! I usually try and get into bed a bit earlier the night before an early run. You will probably laugh as I have never used the snooze button!! I have always been an early riser, waking about 4:45 or 5:00 AM. I got up at 4:30 Monday when I ran and my DH rode. As far as the RT friday, the step class sounds fun, but I also thought about maybe a short cheetah run for any of the cheetahs that want to. You might have to slow down a bit for me though...:)

Jackie...I even got one of those Champion shirts at Target yesterday, I will test it out this week! Good job with iTread 60 min!

Susan...hope you enjoyed the massage yesterday...:)

Amy...I see your picture now. Great shot...

Elaine...I didn't know you golfed. Your puppy sounds cute. Sorry about the nagging PF. My niece has been battling it a few months. Yes, I did find the foam roller in the workout equipment area in Target. I looked around awhile.

I have a bit of DOMS from PLB...:)...Today will be a 5 mile interval run and P90X B&B plus some ab work.

Have a great day...:)

Good morning Cheetahs!

Susan - How was that massage? Bet that was nice visiting the chiro and getting a massage all in one day.

Amy - There you are! You are one beautiful Cheetah!

Elaine - Glad you're enjoying the new puppy! Nice name too. I got my foam roller from Amazon.com. Think it was about $16.

Shelly - I like how you split your workouts but if I don't get mine done in the morning, I'm afraid I wouldn't get around to them. I'm so excited for you ladies and the RT. So much fun! I get up at 5:00 am on Saturdays for my long runs. I try to get out before 6. It's not hard for me because I'm up and working out by 4:30 during the week anyway. Believe me when I started those early workouts, I had to work up to it. It definitely ain't easy!;)

Sunny - The treading class sounds like fun. Thanks for reminding me about the new iTrains. Will have to check them out today. Great fitness buys.

Cathy - Is it August already? Christmas is right around the corner. I'm sure the stores already have Christmas displays up. I'll have to look for that Aquaphor tube when I run out. Enjoy your workout today! Those lunges are killers sometimes. A simple marble cake is good too.

Carole - I will definitely check Target out this weekend if they have those shirts. Can't cost as much as coming from Champion. BTW, I made an appointment to get a deep tissue massage Friday. Because I've never had one before, I wanted to put a day in between the massage and my race on Sunday. I can hardly wait.

I did speed drills this morning and got in 5 miles. Met up with Tony for GBG stretch.

Happy Hump Day!

Jackie

Hello Cheetah's!

Thanks Carole and Cathy - glad you can see the pic! It was taken one week ago today - on a Maui sunset/dinner cruise. DH took it of course!

Still a little jetlagged - but every day gets a little better thanks!

Elaine - yes there are some new faces on here (one being me!). I just picked up running again a little over a month ago - after taking about 10 years off from it! How is your cute dog doing?

Susan - How was that massage? DH and I treated ourselves on our honeymoon with 2 couples messages! Pure heaven! I wish I could do them more - but they can get pricey!!!!!

Sorry ladies - I missed the post about the Champion Tshirts. Are they wonderful?? Should I go to Target and get one?

Shelly and Carole - I too have to get up very early for an outdoor run. On a normal day - without jetlag - I am up at 5AM and ready to go!!!!! I can't wait to get back to this next week!

Hello to all other Cheetahs! Please enjoy your day!!!!

I am going to TRY to get a run in today. Every day I feel a little better.

Take care!!!!!!
Amy

Good morning cheetahs! Another rainy day here in n. Az:7 :7 :7
The only problem now of course is the flash flooding! So far though, all is well.

Cathy- It's funny you should ask me about the benefits of splitting your workouts. It's in the news today about how you burn more fat by resting between workouts than doing it in one long session. They are talking about a 20-30 min break but I think the same thing would apply by doing a morning and afternoon workout. Anyway, you certainly would have more energy for the second workout and could put more effort into it. Well, it works for me anyway. Today is an exception though since I go to work tonight. I still put in a 20 min break though between workouts. I remember how you said you are cardio challenged when it comes to step so I don't blame you for not being interested in Cathe's Fri class. Carole suggested a group cheetah run..... that would be fun!!!!

SunnyD- Have a great bike ride today! I assume this is part of your triathlon training. What kind of bike do you have? When I eventually start training for one I intend on getting a new bike but I'm split on getting a road bike or a special triathlon bike.

Carole- Actually, I think a group cheetah run is a superb idea!!!
There is a lot of buzz about early arriving RTers attending Cathe's friday class so there may be no room anyway. We'll be doing alot of stepping, etc anyway the next days afterwards so a run would be a nice start. I promise to run in the back so I wont be the pace setter! ;-) Have a great interval run today.... I see you are back to doing these routinely now:7

Jackie- You and Carole have an advantage over me in that you are used to getting up at 0500 or earlier. Being a night shift worker I think it's amazing I get up before 0700 on my days off. Maybe I'll try putting the alarm clock across the room forcing me to get up to turn it off at 0500. It'll wake DH too but oh well.... he'll drop right back off! I had my first deep tissue massage last June while on vacation..... you are in for a real treat!!! Wow, another race on Sunday???? How long is this one?

Amy- NICE PIC!!!! You look rested and happy.... not to mention darned cute! :* Good luck on your run today. Hopefully you will not get too eager and give yourself a long slow warm up.

Time to get moving and get in the workouts before I nap.... it's back to work tonight. I'll be doing a 4-5 mile tempo run and HSC :7

Hello ladies,
I am a grump this morning. My little ones have been driving me CRAZY the last couple of day. I call them the bickersons(LOL)!!! I am looking forward to school starting. Whoever said that girls are easier than boys was WRONG!!!!

Okay, I am done with that little rant:) I did Bootcamp and the last 2 combos of KPC yesterday and it was a great workout. I had a little ITB at the end of the last combo, but just slowed it down a bit. Today, I am going to do the scambled egg premix of Body max2 and the ab workout from the dvd cardio and weights. I love that ab workout.

Yes, I thoroughly enjoyed my massage and my chiro appointment. My massage therapist has been getting in the glutes really good.

Cathy, I pm'd you my flight time. Sorry I forgot to add that important piece of info;-) Enjoy those walking lunges,OUCH!

Sunny, enjoy your ride on your bike. How fun that sounds!

Carole, I think that I am probably going to take the step class on Friday. I have not been running due to the ITB stuff. You guys definitley should though and make all the cheetahs proud:) Are you all ready for the trip. I am not. I have to get all my toiletries together and figure out what I am bringing. I am going to try not to bring anything to check. Too bad my foam roller won't fit in my bag}(

Jackie, great job on the run. I am so looking forward to running again. I will start up again after the road trip.

Amy, yes you are right the massages do get a little pricey. I pay $45 for a half hour and usually go 2 times per month. I so love them though. How fun that you had a couples massage.

Well, ladies I am off to take the kids to their bible camp,YAY!!!! I think that mommy needs a break this morning(LOL)!!! Have a great day and hello to Shelly, christine, Judy, kristi,Marcia and anyone else I may have missed.

Cheers!

Susan

Hello to Shelly, If Carole gets up at 5:00 am. I will have to throw something at her!!! I am much more of a 7:00 riser like you;-) Emjoy your run!

Good Morning Cheetahs!

Yesterday was one of those days that you just write off and hope do not happen again soon! Nothing really bad, just filled with annoyances – like spending 2.5 hours at my usual nail salon (when it usually takes 1!) and STILL having crappy looking nails. I have to go back again today. Oh well. We have 2 days of sales meetings at work tomorrow and Friday – not fun. We have to give corp presentations. Oh well, I’ll run through it a few times, and should be fine. Yesterday I woke up sore, so I only did abs – both of the B&G ones – good ab workout! Today, as I’m loosely following the August ’05 rotation, I did BootCamp twice (skipped the abs). I cannot remember the last time I did that one through completely. I usually do parts of it. I was actually surprised there were leg presses (don’t know why – Cathe LOVES that particular torture! :+). But, I really enjoyed this – and I can feel it ALL over. It’s amazing how often you actually do use your core on a lot of these moves – when your core is letting you know it’s there, you become very aware of this! Anyway, today is a much better day and I’ll simply forget that yesterday happened! :p

Cathy - Have fun with PUB and your lunges! Was the meeting good? When you do start back to school? I’m so jealous of all the Road Tripping Cheetahs!!

Sunny – Oh have fun with your bike ride!!! It’s hard work, but the thing I love about biking outdoors is that the feeling of being a kid never quite leaves. Enjoy!

Carole – how heavy do you go on PLB? I started with 30/40 and 50 pounds and did that for all the exercises. I was surprised that the leg presses were actually not too bad with 50 pounds. I’m going to keep that little gem in my rotation. Sounds like a good workout today!

Jackie – I hear ya on the early AM workouts! I’m up at 4:30 every morning now, and it is easier, but it took a Tae Kwon Do class with a teacher who was always there, and a class who sometimes did not show up to really make it a habit. I felt really bad if I was not there, so I went, and I got used to it.

Amy – Oh, I love Maui!! You’re on the East Coast, aren’t you? For me the time difference is only 3 hours, so it’s not that bad. Hope you manage your run! Very nice picture!

Shelly – send some of the rain our way! We’re in drought conditions!! Sounds like y’all are going to have a great time at the RT! I so wish I could go!! Enjoy your run and HSC – should I get that one? I LOVE HSTA, but I don’t have HSC.

Susan – Enjoy your quiet morning! I think girls are easier than boys until they hit around
8 or 9, then everything changes. Middle school girls can be the nastiest people on earth. Thank heavens they grow out of it!

Well, I’d better get studying the presentation! Have a great one everyone!

Hello again! I ended up doing iTread#11 45 min for my tempo run. It's a great one for this kind of running workout. I got in 5 miles in just under 45 minutes. I followed it with HSC so I'm a sweaty tired cheetah now and definitely ready for my nap!

Susan- I can certainly understand you're wanting to pass on the run.
If we do it early enough maybe I can join you at the step class... you know me.... totally insane ;-) Carole and I just have to figure out how to dodge your missiles at 0500;-) But I wouldn't worry too much about that... we'll all still be on Western time ya know!

Christine= I remember doing BC X 2 for that rotation... great job!!
If you are really into circuit workouts like I am you should definitely add HSC to your collection. It is more endurance focused than HSTA. She moves REALLY fast in this one and it's just amazing how much she fits into this workout.

Time to refuel and rest:7 :7

Hello again Cheetahs!!!

Hope you are enjoying your day!

I did a 45 minute slow jog today at the local park. I felt fine, but I hate running midday! I am such an early morning workout girl. Next week I should be back on track!

Off to pick up some Hawaii pics!!!!

Enjoy the rest of your day!!!!

Hi Cheetahs!

This is my 2nd attempt at posting today. The first one got lost somehow....

No workout for me today. I am just too tired! We didn't get home from picking DS up at LAX until 12:30 last night and then didn't get to bed until around 2 am. With a new baby in the house I don't have the luxury of staying in bed until I feel like getting up so I am drinking coffee and being grumpy today!

Cathy, I assumed that you had summers off but you mentioned that you've been relaxing and working so I guess I was wrong. Do you get some of the summer off? So what kind of cake did you make? Cake is one of my biggest weaknesses and I will only have it around when not worried about indulging in bad for me food.

Carole, I have not golfed for about 6 years and since my DH has Fridays off once school starts we'll have some free time so I can pick it up again. DH is pretty good and so I've got an awesome teacher to get me back up to speed.

Shelly, Yes, Rex is a Toto dog! I hope he turns out to be as smart as Toto and gets the house training thing quick! He's 3 months old and fetching a tennis ball then returning it to me for another go around. I'm hoping that is an idication of his ability to pick up on things quickly and that I won't have to watch him with an eagle eye at all times SOON!

Hi Christine! I'm putting your advice to use. I have not kept him with me in the house by putting Rex on a leash though because he has once again won the collar battle. Even after having it on for more than 24 hours he just would not quit acting weird about it. For instance, he would not use the bathroom until he absolutely could not hold it in any longer. We stopped for him to get out of his crate on the way to LAX yesterday and he just laid there, periodically trying to rub his neck on the ground acting like he was all freaked out from the collar. So DH took it of and just like that he is fine! Acting like a normal dog and going potty regularly. So he doesn't have it on again today and he's normal. The vet said he was having a temper tantrum so I planned on sticking it out, leaving the collar on him but maybe it's not the best thing to do! I have the same fears with my new puppy as I do with my kids. I don't want to do something that will seriously screw him up emotionally!

Sunny, I suppose I'll have to order a foam roller since I didn't see any at Target.

Susan, LOL! I'm grumpy today too! It's barely 1:30 in the afternoon and I'm already looking forward to bed time tonight.

Hello to everyone else I might have missed!

Hiya, cheetahs! :)

PUB (no abs) and the lunges are done.

Carole :: thanks ~ I rec’d your email!…What time do the RT festivities start on Friday?

Jackie :: *lol* about the Christmas displays ~ you’re right; that can’t be far away. The Champions I get from Target are $12.99. Ooh, a deep tissue coming up!! I have spent so much money on this Bare Escentuals makeup that I think I shouldn't schedule my August massage. BUT my chiro did refer me to a therapist who does them cheaper than my spa. Hmm...I need a $39 deal!!!

Amy :: I do like the Champion shirts a lot. They are really comfortable AND cheap!…So did you go to the other islands or just Maui? I was reading in one of your posts that things did get pricey ($80 for lunch! Yowzas!) Still, I would like to get there someday. After doing PUB and hearing the theme song for Magnum P.I. (who I thought was a total dreamboat), I’ve got Hawaii on the brain! :D Woo, you did a midday run? It’s HOT out there!

This is the Target Champion shirt I like:
http://g-ec2.images-amazon.com/images/I/41CPC9FQ51L._SS260_.jpg

and the link: http://www.target.com/gp/detail.htm...-0308963?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=1&asin=B000H387QO

Shelly :: I didn’t catch that news report ~ will google it after I post. Interesting…Yes, I am definitely challenged when it comes to step. I’ll keep my embarrassment private, thank-you-very-much. :p :D Does HSC have a lot of leg press in it?

Susan :: thanks for the email! If all three of you are just bringing carry-ons, then the pickup should be quick. Have the Bickersons settled down any? :)

Christine :: all ready for your presentation? I’m sure you’ll do great. Bring Jimmy and he’ll charm ‘em all. Anyway, sorry it was a craptastic day…Yes, the meeting was good – she has been through the National Board process and shared with me a lot of great advice and we generally talked shop. We used to work together in my former district; she’s someone I have tremendous respect for, and in fact, she got me my current job. It’s funny sometimes how you cross paths with people, and in some way, they can completely change the direction of your life. I’m *busting a gut* about MS girls possibly being the nastiest people on earth…You can do those vile leg presses with 50 lbs.???

Elaine :: I am doing some paid work here and there (two committees, some tutoring) as well as unpaid work (e.g. I’m participating in a professional book club discussion, reading/studying up for a certification process I’ll be undergoing this coming school year, and then the normal summer prep and planning. Our subject area is smack dab in the middle of a curriculum overhaul process, so we are making a lot of changes. I keep busy. But I definitely am moving at a relaxed pace…With the help of Betty Crocker, I made a plain ol’ marble cake. I just love homemade cake – don’t even need any frosting on it. Confession alert: I ate the whole thing. http://www.getsmile.com/emoticons/smileys-91853/s/diablo.gif Yes, seriously. When did I bake it – Monday? And it’s only Wednesday. I don’t think I’ve ever in my life eaten a whole cake. Is that sick or what? I just kept noshing away it. Thank God I didn’t have a run scheduled for today…I’da been *crawling* out there!...I go back to school after Labor Day.

Hello Cheetahs!

I just ordered Leslie Sansone's 4 mile walk and 1 mile jog (2 DVD's together at Deep Discount DVD for 13 bucks!!!!!) since I like to run in place at home on super hot days! Plus the winter is coming up!!!! (not rushing it!!!)

Cathy - Hawaii is a place for everyone to see - at least once in your lifetime. BUT yes it is super expensive - the food!!!!!
But it is very worth it. It is true paradise.

We did it up because it was our honeymoon. I highly recommend the Hyatt in Kuai, Oawahu, and Maui! They have this deal - called the Hopper Pass - that includes free buffet breakfast. It was delish. So nice that they make the omlets for you as you pick what you want!!!!! My favorite island was Kuai - very quiet and romantic. You need to rent a car in Kuai and Maui.

Cathy - you are a teacher, right? What grade? Are you enjoying your summer off? I teach elementary reading and love it, but I also do the summer program and teach Yoga to grades 1-2 students, remember? I love kids.

Take care all!

Amy
