Morning, cheetahs :D

Woke up with a stomachache I'm tryin' to shake here. When I do, it will most likely be BC - possibly a premix. Later today is the first tutoring session, and since I'm in a zone, more work on school stuff. There will be so much going on in this upcoming school year that I sort of feel like I can't stop.

Wendy :: As I mentioned before, I've only done one half, but anything I've ever read said to limit weights to two - *maybe* three - times a week - light weight, high rep, and of course, listen to your body. That's the *only* kind of weight lifting I was doing at the time, anyway, so it was fine for me.

Have a great day, cheetah babes!
Cathy :)

Good Morning Cheetah Babes!:)

I have Butts and Guts on tap for today and then tonight the plan is to go to the gym with DH and get in some cardio...a run or the EXT. We'll see. I'm going to the gym even if DH cr@ps out on me! LOL

Cathy: Thanks for the info. I was thinking endurance work was probably the way to go but I wasn't sure. I have plenty of endurance work outs so that shouldn't be any problem!;) As far as how many days and how I split it up (or don't), I'll have 17 weeks to change it up if I need to! LOL

I'll be back!

Okay, I can feel myself becoming a pain in the u know what about this but....

Would it be okay for me to use my Itreads during my HM training? I am so hooked on them! Can I use one once a week...I mean the one 60 mins one even calls itself MARATHON training so it's okay, right? :D

TIA!:) :) :)

Wendy, I'm not as familiar with all the iTreads (I own one or two), but I would think the marathon one would fit well into your training. Personally, I would probably not incorporate interval training or speedwork just yet but focus instead on building the mileage and endurance.

Morning Cathy, Wendy and everyone -

It is extremely humid this morning, I can't even see out my windows because they are so fogged up.x( DS has a ballgame at 9am this morning so we will be getting ready to leave soon. Afterwards we are doing a little shopping and then home so I can workout. I didn't get anything in yesterday and I'm just falling behind x( ;(

Cathy - I'm so excited to do a rotation with you that I'm trying to figure out what to do for workouts before the 23rd :7 (having troubles, too)

I had to change my plans on the HM for the end of August, just wasn't going to work out for a couple reasons, so I'm focused on shorter races instead and will work towards finding another one in a cooler part of the year ;-)

Wendy - Good luck with your training, you will do just great!

Hi to everyone, I'll be back!
Marcia.

Cathy ~ Sorry about the tummy ache! Hope you're feeling better soon! Enjoy BC, I haven't done that one in a while! G/L w/ the first tutoring session!

Wendy ~ Good luck w/ the half!! I'd do more endurance workouts also, or total body workouts. I did PUB/ PLB (especially the ball part, that was really good for the lower body!), MM, ME, etc. while I was training last year. I agree w/ Cathy, you should focus more on building your mileage than doing any sort of speed training. Work on your one longer run a week. Have you looked at any programs yet? I liked Hal Higdon's and runnersworld.com has lots or training programs too. I would definitely do your long run outdoors too instead of on the TM if possible.

Marcia ~ So you'll be starting a new rotation? What are you doing? I'm sure you'll find another half to do.

G'morning Cheetahs! OK, the cold hit me in full force! My throat is really scratchy, and nose & face feel stuffy. And I'm coughing a bit too. Yuck!!!

We did end up taking the girls on a short hike last night, it was a short rain & ended up being nice last night. They had fun & then played at the playground. Then we had some t-storms in the night. I was supposed to run but my friend Melissa is dealing w/ PF & Achilles so she was going to rest today. I was kinda glad since fighting off this cold I think I should take it easier today. I'm just planning on some pilates.

Nothing too exciting going on here, probably another trip to the library & hanging out w/ my girls! ;-)

Have a good one!

Ooh, sorry!! I did get them finally uploaded last night! I had to shut down my whole computer to get the camera card to upload!

Great pics, Jess, I can totally see changes in your arms, legs and butt!! WAY TO GO!!!!!

Good luck fighting off that cold, summer colds are just horrible!

Marcia.

P.S. Forgot to answer your question, Cathy and I are doing a modified version of the August 04 rotation. We both had to change a few things because we didn't have the DVDs and we added running into, too.

Not great news about my tooth. It is all infected. I have to go to an Oral Surgeon for an Apicoectomy, which is basically where they cut into your gum and remove the infection, or maybe even extract the tooth if it is severely cracked. Get this I have already has this done on the same tooth 16 years ago! So I am on antibiotics and pain pills, and my surgery will be this friday.

Cathy...now you know how I made out at the dentist! My massage therapist has a cracked tooth and was going to see my dentist also yesterday. The massage was wonderful and after friday no more tooth pain. Glad you found some shoes. Hope your stomach ache goes away soon. Enjoy the BC premix.

Wendy..wow #20 dumbbells!! Glad you found a half. All runners seem to feel different about weight training during running training. I have always done both upper and lower but backed off lower about 3 weeks before the race. You could just stick to endurance workouts and avoid any heavy lifting. Have fun with B&G today. Your questions are never a pain...:)...I see no problem doing some iTreads during your training.

Marcia...sorry about the humidity. Have fun at DS's ball game.

Jess..you really leaned out with P90X...way to go! Sorry about the cold. You might have to take it easy for a few days.

Jackie...so you have a 5K this weekend? Going by how you feel is a good idea. The massage was wonderful. Good workout for you yesterday.

Sunny...here is a link to the Sharkies, they are kinda like jelly beans but they don't have a hard outer coating:

Shelly...how many weeks do you marathon train for? I rarely get out of Costco either for under $100. Hope you had fun with BBC Shoulders & Back. How nice to have another dinner with your sis and her DH. And the chef you married will cook!

Well my dentist said not to do anything today that would get my HR too high. So I am doing PLB standing and a very easy EXT workout. I slept awful last night as I could not find a comfy position because of my tooth pain...:(..so I am sure a nap is in order today.

Have a great day...:)

Carole ~ Sorry about the tooth. Sounds painful!! I've had 3 root canals, not fun! I had to get my 2 front top teeth done as I had knocked one out in a bike accident as a kid. (and it affected the other tooth) Plus had to get a root canal on a molar. I was a regular at the dentist! :( Hope it's not too painful & you can make it til Friday!! Glad you enjoyed your massage and hope you can catch a nap!

And thanks for the comments on my pics. I definitely feel like I leaned out more. I've really been sticking to clean eating & I know that helps me a lot! It seems like it's easier to eat cleaner in the summer as there are so many fresh fruits/ veggies around!

Thanks, Marcia! Still have work to do but definitely made progress!! Now I'm working the butt as much as possible- did S & H legs & shoulders + Cathe's Bonus butt workout y'day. I'm feelin' it today!

Good luck w/ your rotation!!

Jess..Thanks...I have been a regular at the dentist too! I also have had 3 root canals. This tooth was actually a root canal that went bad 16 years ago. It is a bit painful now but the surgery will take that away...

You hit that right on the head about the clean eating. I find it a lot more important as I age. Keep up the good work!...:)

Marcia :: yikes! Fog on the windows? Try & stay cool out there…how about a week of BBC?

Jess :: all is good ~ the stomach troubles were just a passing thing. I’ve decided to hold off on BC until later, so I can break in the new kicks, which are due to arrive today. :D Thanks for the good luck wishes ~ I’ll probably be OK since I am the one doing the tutoring ;) *lol*…Great pics! I think you can especially see the results in the hips, waist, and back areas…Ut oh, the cold gotcha full force, huh? Feel better soon!

Carole :: oh no! The tooth situation sounds awful…I, too, have had my fair share of dental disasters :p, so I’m commiserating with ya here…The worst were two abcesses I had ~ they caused excruciating pain...I remember a couple of nights being sheer hell…it’s a miserable time when you’ve got a bad tooth…hope the meds keep you comfortable til Friday!

Good morning ladies!

Shelly - Nice 12 miles yesterday! A marathon in Vegas, huh? Sounds good. Enjoyed All Body Attack and my body is feeling it today. I have DOMS in the BUMS. :) How was dinner?

Wendy - Happy Birthday to DH!! Glad you found a half that gives you time to train. Right now I only do a total body weight workout once a week and an upper body once a week. Depending on what kind of run I'm doing the next day, I may do just a lower body workout. I use my iTreads, CC and iFIT while I'm training. I just make them work for my needs on that particular day.

Robin - Good luck with your new check in group.

Cathy - Sorry for the tummy ache. Hope it's long gone by the time you read this post. Good luck with the tutoring. Have fun breaking in the new shoes.

Jess - Your pictures look great! I can definitely see a change! Hope you feel better.

Carole - So sorry to hear about the tooth. ((((HUGS)))) Hope the surgery takes care of it for good. I can't imagine. My second 5K in the Road Race Series is Sunday. Then 2 weeks after that, the 5 mile races start. Whew! Enjoy your easy workout today.

I used iTread #20 60 minutes and ran until I got in 5 miles. I took it easy on myself because I have speed drills on tap for tomorrow. Finished up with Cool It Off Express and plan on using the roller when I get home.

Have a terrific Tuesday!

Jackie

Good Afternoon cheetah pals,

cathy- i hope your tummyache is feeling better by now. have fun teaching today! i ordered my garmin 205 today!! can't wait for it to arrive.

wendy- i am so excited you found a HM!! how fun we can train "together" . when are you starting your training? i plan on using some of the itrains for my training.

jackie-what did you think of itread 20 60 mins??

shelly- maybe i will start calling you iron woman, lol. another marathon, congrats!! btw- i ordered all body attack today}(

carole- so sorry to hear your tooth is giving your more problems. hopefully the surgery will put an end to your misery.

jess- you look amazing!!!

ttyl....

Good morning cheetahs! I slept in til 0730 this morning! Heaven:)
We had a wonderful rainfall late yesterday afternoon and night. As usual though this time of year it was accompanied by thunder and lightning. But at least we got some precipitation!! My sister wasn't able to make it last night for dinner so I was able to get in a session on the stationary cycle.

Cathy- Your upcoming school year must be a doozy with problems since you're already fretting some about it! Good thing you'll have us all for support ;-) My sister stays busy all summer with tutoring also... you teachers definitely do not get paid near what your worth! Have fun with BC today.

Wendy- I do so love your spirit!!! Hopefully DH can make it to the gym with you today. In HM training I don't start out doing anything different re: weight training but say about 4-5 weeks out I do focus mostly on endurance, circuit style training, and don't worry about losing any muscle gains!!! Also about the iTreads, I totally agree with Cathy. I used them in training for the longer races and will continue using them in my marathon training. In your case since your goal is only to finish and it will be your first I would use the longer ones and not concentrate so much on the speedwork.

Marcia- I think it's wise to postpone your HM until cooler weather.
August is a rough month to be doing distance races! Hope you can get in a satisfying workout today.

Jess- Great pics! I can definitely see the increased muscle definition in your arms:) :) Thanks for sharing!

Carole- Poor baby!!! You have my sympathy! I have been through that surgery twice and the last time I swore I would do whatever it takes not to go through that again. I now visit the periodontist every 3 months for a vigorous cleaning and I clean between the teeth with a peroxibrush at least twice a day. I can see why they told you not to get your heartrate too elevated, that would definitely exacerbate the pain your feeling..... sympathy {{{{{Hugs}}}}}}}to you

Jackie- I think I did the iTread#20 just last week, that's the newest one, right? Anyway, it's a good one! You are getting really serious with the speed work!

SunnyD- Wow, are we on the same wavelength or what? I'm ordering the Garmin 205 today! I didn't see the point of going for the 305 when I would never use the HR monitor and as far as I can see that's the only difference. You will LOVE AllBody Attack!!

More BBC today.... it'll be Butts&Legs w/ cardio. And then Mindy
Mylrea's Cardiotoolbox. I'm taking it easy today;-) Back to work tonight but only for a single night:)

Hi Ladies.

Thanks for all of the feedback on the weight training issue. I'll figure out something and then I can always tweak it if it's not working for me.

I spent the morning with DS at the park :)and then we ate and then I tried to figure out my HM training schedule. I plan to begin training as soon as I get back from vacation. I will have to skip the first 2 weeks of Jeff's 17 week plan but I think I'll be okay since the long run I'd start with is 5 miles and I can obviously run that distance.

So I have no problems with the schedule until it comes to fitting in my required weekly class for the stupid free gym membership! GRRRR! I am thinking of requesting that I be excused from this from the time I go on vacation until the half marathon takes place. These people I work for want ALL of their employees to be active in fitness so I figure if they will not excuse me from taking a weekly class for a few months while I train for a big event like a half marathon then they are a bunch of hypocrites and I will be in search of a new gym to join REAL fast!!! I don't think it's an unreasonable request. I think it makes perfect sense! What do you all think???

Okay, enough ranting for now!:p

I need to make coffee and then I'll back with personals!

wendy- makes sense to me, lol

shelly- yes we are! that was the only difference i saw also and since i already have a hr monitor i didn't see the point in the added expense.

speaking of itrains i thought new ones were supposed to come out this month. hmmmm

ttyl...:)
