:::: CHEETAH RUNNERS :::: Tuesday, July 17

I'm back!

:) :+ :) :+ :) :+ :) :+ :) :+ :) :+ :) :+

So I almost forgot to thank everyone for their input regarding the Itreads too! I will check out what I have and will use the Marathon one and anything else endurance focused. I will leave out the ones that focus more on intervals or sprints. I was also thinking that the ITreads would be a great for the weekly walking work out that I will be doing. :)

Here's my training schedule minus the stupid gym classes, btw:

M: 40 min walk
T: 30-45 min run
W: weights
R: 30-45 min run
F: weights
S: off
S: long walk/run

I will likely do all of my training on the TM except for my long walk/runs. It is definately just much easier for me to get to the gym during the week then to wait for DH to get home to go outside in the evening. I may also switch my rest day and long walk/run days if need be depending on my weekend plans but I doubt that would be a big deal. Does this look good so far? Constructive critism is always welcome so don't be shy! :)

Marcia: I hope you get a good work out in today! Thanks re: the HM! I'm excited and nervous! I can't wait to begin training! Something to look forward to after vacation! }(

Jess: Love the X pics! Woo hoo! You go girl! I can't believe you want to do another round so soon! WOW! I was beat up after my first round which is why I am choosing to wait so long to do another! LOL I am going to do some X work outs this week but another rotation will have to wait.
Carole referred me to Jeff Galloway's training plan. That is what I based mine on. The weekly long run alternates between a new longer distance and a shorter distance of 3-5 miles. He builds the mileage slowly which is nice. The rest of the runs are time based and are pretty short as you can see. I think I will like it. :)

Carole: Thanks for all of your advice re: the half! It's very much appreciated! I sure hope those pain pills work on that tooth until Friday! I hope the surgery goes well with a quick recovery!

Jackie: I am thinking of trying your tactic for weights by doing one f/b and one u/b work out per week while training. I think I will stick to all endurance for legs but will probably not be able to resist the call of heavy lifting for upper the entire time so I'll probably rotate between heavy and endurace for that.}(

Sunny: I am going to start training the Monday after I get back from my vacation. I almost took the "now is as good a time as any" attitude and was going to start tonight but it's not worth it cause I won't keep up with it on vacation. I plan to exercise but I don't want to be bogged down with a rigid schedule that week, you know? So the plan I am doing is 17 weeks. I will be starting it late so I'll have to cut off the first 2 weeks but I don't see that as any big deal since the "long" runs are only 3 and 4 miles for those 2 weeks. What training schedule are you using or did you create your own? I have Hal Higdon's 12 week plan hanging up from when I first wanted to do this but that's for running the entire thing so I'll save that for next time!;)

Shelly: Sorry your sis couldn't make it for dinner last night. Will you reschedule? BBC Butt and Legs today, ey? So you'll be burnin' right along with me as I am doing B&G! LOL Have fun!}(

Hello cheetah friends,
Just a quick check-in before I shower. I am so happy! I just did 10 minutes of step with no ITB pain, YAY!!! I have not been able to do any step for 2months because of the pain. I am still taking it pretty easy, but am so thrilled that I am hopefully on my way to recovery. I have been foam rolling and stretching and icing it to death. I am praying that it is better for the roadtrip. If not, I will just stare at Cathe and take numerous pics while everyone works out(LOL)!!!!

My arms are shaking from PUB right now...love that workout.

Carole, (((((HUGS))))) to you. I know how that feels. I have had 4 root canals and an infected tooth that got pulled. It is no fun. I hope you start to feel better soon.

Hello to everyone else and I hope to do more personals later.

Cheers!

Susan

carole- thanks to the link for the sharkies. i will check them out.

wendy- lol, you are far ahead of me. i haven't really checked out a HM training plan. i am still trying to decide how i am going to train for the triathlon. also if you haven't picked it up yet runners world has a HM special this month! i did check out the jeff galloway plan and i like it.

Hello again!

Susan!!!! Great to see you pop in. Congrats on your step work out. Sounds like you are making progress and I am happy for you. (((hugs)))

Sunny: Okay so when is your Tri??? OMG you are a nut but I LOVE it! I am a wreck over training for a November HM alone and here you are attempting to train for a Tri and then a November HM! You go with your bad self girl! I think Hal Higdon has Tri training plans on his site. You should check it out. He's supposed to be the best!:)

Okay, so I just finished Butts with out the Guts!:p I intend to do ARX tomorrow so I was NOT doing ab work today. The further I got into B&G the more surprised I became as I don't think I have ever done all of the "butt work" in full before! If I have it was only once a long time ago cause I forgot half of those exercises were in there! OH MY, what a burn!!!!}( }( }( It'll be a miracle if I can walk tomorrow!:p

I am still undecided as to wether I will take on the TM or EXT at the gym tonight. I believe I have a new 60 min Itrain for each that I haven't tried yet so I am gonna have one heck of a decision to make!:p :7

I'll be back!

wendy- i am definitely a nut:7 i am training for a tri in oct and don't even know how to swim, lol. i have yet to do B & G in its entirety. thanks for the hal higdon info!

off to teach BC class for the second time today:)

Just poppin' in quick........DS won his game, had a double and pitched a great inning. He is pretty psyched to say the least :D

I just ate a WW Smart Ones spaghetti, so I will wait a little while and then do CTX All Step, haven't done that in a while.

Cathy - I don't have BBC, so I think I'll do a week of CTX and work each body part so they are ready for the rotation.

Have a great afternoon everyone.
Marcia.;-)

Hola, cheetahs :D

Jackie :: the roller should feel good on the BUMS DOMS!

Sunny :: ooh! That Garmin’s gonna be fantastic to have for your tri and HM training…I agree, the 305 doesn’t make sense if you know you won’t use the HRM or if you are in an area where tree cover is not really an issue…I am glossing RIGHT over all the talk of All Body Attack. :p :D I have to stop doing the UPS Man Happy Dance...

Shelly :: the t-storms sound nice…I’m not anticipating problems with the coming school year :D, but I do know it will be challenging, for sure, and so I can’t let up just now until I feel a have more of a leg up on things…Type A in effect :p ...Anyway, there’ll just be a lot going on -- between switching teams and setting up shop in a new room...being tapped to on take on a new leadership role...working through a newly-developed curriculum...and then the big one: the national board certification process I was talking about last week. But challenge is good. :D…I *cracked up* at your comment about taking it easy today. That’s our Shelly.

Wendy :: maybe you could lead a 5K training group in lieu of taking the monthly class?…your plan looks sensible…I think you can’t wrong with Galloway…don’t stress, you will be ready and you’ll do great!!

Susan :: definitely stay healthy for the RT!! Four root canals??? Egads!

Marcia :: congrats to DS on the win! However did those kids run around in that crazy heat??…I just bought a Smart One the other day (haven’t eaten one of those in ages but was too lazy to make lunch)…it was one I’d hadn’t seen before – Chicken & Cheese Quesadillas. Quite tasty…CTX sounds like a good plan before we kick off our butt-buster rotation! :D

Cathy..thankfully the meds have finally kicked in. I do agree that abscesses are the absolute worst thing. I have had a few.

Jackie..I was hoping the surgery 16 yeasr ago would take care of this. Luckily the surgery is a breeze as you are out. I had no problems last time. That is cool you are doing this Road Race series. It'll make you strong. Good job with iTread 60 min.

Sunny...I hope the surgery puts an end to it too!

Shelly...thanks for your sympathy! My dentist is not sure at all why this one got infected again. I have been very good with my teeth using a Sonicare and flossing everyday. Plus the 6 month check-ups. Sometimes I think it could be genetic. My parents did not have real good teeth. I will probably try an easy run tomorrow as things are feeling a lot better as today goes on. So, a Garmin for you too!...:) Enjoy your workout...

Wendy...as I have always done a 12 week training program for my marathons I see no problem with you missing the 1st 2 weeks of your 17 week half training program. I think your schedule looks great so far. I believe the meds are finally kicking in and helping.

Susan...good job on the 10 min of step. Take it easy on that ITB. Thanks, it was a rough night but I am feeling much better now.

My workout went fairly good. I had a bit of sinus pain during the lunges in PLB. Then ans easy 30 min EXT workout trying to keep my HR around 120.

Just finished CTX All Step - WOW - that step portion really kicked my butt. I always forget how intense that part is and get whipped every time. Whew....done.

Carole - Good luck with the tooth, not much worse than teeth problems and sitting in a dentist chair - Yuck x(

I'm off to get supper going and plan out the rest of the week's workouts so there is no need for guesswork. ;-)

Marcia.

Hey all.

We are back from the gym. I did phase 1 only of ITread 14/60 mins. It's an endurance work out so I'll have to keep it in mind for my training. }(

Not much else goin' on here.

Have a great night!:)
