Cheetah Check In Wednesday 11/15

Cathlete
Good Morning Girls.

First I must do this: ((((((((((((CHRISTINE))))))))))))))!!! I was holding my breath reading your post but when I read that more than one nodule tends to mean that it's NOT cancer I breathed a small sigh of relief! You will be in my prayers every day as long as they are needed!!!

Okay, well I wanted to go to the gym tonight for a TM run but I forgot that I am going to my mom's for dinner so I will have to pick out an alternative cardio to do at nap time later. I am bummed that I can't run. The opportunity to run seems to get slimmer by the day. :-(

My ORIGINAL plan for today was actually for B&G and a run tmrw but I counted days wrong and tmrw is my rest day! LOL If I can't pick a cardio maybe I'll just torture myself with B&G after all!}(

Hmmmm...ya know what though...tmrw evening would be the PERFECT opp for a TM run. B&G today and run tomorrow after all? Could be!!!

Okay, stop laughing at me! I can never make up my mind. You gals know that! LOL :p

Gotta go for now...I'll be back later though!

Wendy ~ You're such a riot!! I hope you get the *perfect* workouts for today & tomorrow figured out!! I don't know what to do today either. I did wake up on time though, I had my clock set on PM instead of AM!!! DOH!! ;-)

Christine ~ My thoughts & prayers are with you. I hope that nodule is nothing!! My FIL had his thyroid burned out a couple yrs ago. My dh is on Synthroid for his low thyroid probs. I know you'll keep us posted!!

Ok, I think I'm going to do CoreMax & yoga today. I did BM2 on Mon & DM y'day so I definitely got in my cardio & strength!!

I also have my PT this morning for more u/s on my IT band. It's feeling better & I'm doing my stretches faithfully. My bf Marsha is watching Allison for me, she loves to go play there anyway.

And for those who read my post about my brother, he made it safely to Kuwait on Mon. (he was able to call my Mom) So he is there for now... I miss him already!

Better get moving so I can get in my workout!

Good morning cheetahs! I've been rather inconsistent in my check-ins lately:( Just busy with work and life I guess. I'm finishing up a work stretch....a very busy one! After my nap I'll go for a 7 mile hilly run and later today I'll do the total body premix of DM.
Everyone seems to be having a love affair with this workout lately. It is fast becoming my favorite! My adductor strain has improved tremendously over the last couple of weeks. I barely notice it anymore and my speed is starting to improve!

Wendy- you never cease to amuse me! Hey....why not B&G AND a run!!!
}( }( }(

Christine....that's what I get for missing a few days:eek: You've been going through a little bit of a scary time haven't ya? From your description it sounds to me like some benign cysts. You've certainly got all the cheetahs mentally pulling for you:) Huge cyberhugs to you
sweetiepie! You are SO special!!!!!! I'll be checking back later today for sure for an update!

Gotta run....duty calls!

ShellyC

Good mornin',

wendy- lol, i am sure you will have fun no matter which workout you choose. how about cardio fusion}(

jess- glad to hear your brother made it to kuwait safe and sound.

christine- we are very much here for you. you are definitely in my prayers.

this morning kinda got away from me, (housework) anyway i managed a 2 mile (fast) walk on the TM. i wanted to run but my left ankle felt a little weird for some reason, so basically i am gonna try to take it easy for the next couple of days in hopes my body will work out its kinks by saturday.

talk to you ladies later...:)

HI Cheetahs-

I had some computer problems yesterday and didn't get a chance toread or post here.

Christine- continued hugs and prayers!

Forgive me for not addressing all of you wonderful cheetahs. I have just enough time for a TM run and a good stretch, and then a cabinet installer/builder is coming to install out new entertainment wall at 8:30. We have been living with a hole in the wall for 6 weeks. It took 6 weeks to build the new cabinetry in the shop!

Good Morning Cheetahs:) I think I'll check out some of the DM premixes this morning and do one of those. I haven't done yoga in a week or more so I'll do that after. Wednesdays were a long day for me before the spa closed, now I don't have to work until 3 so I'll enjoy a longer workout.

Christine, I caught your late post on yesterday's thread and responded to it there but am pretty sure you wouldn't mind another ((((hug)))):)

Wendy, have fun with B&G. It's a great workout, LG was my fave lowerbody workout but B&G may just change that.

Jess, how's your PT going. I've been finding that the treatments are painful as they are happening but my ankles feel better immediately after! Glad to hear your brother landed safely.

Sunny, mornings have a way of doing that don't they?:)

Shelley, so glad to hear that your adductors aren't so testy these days! It must feel wonderful to start adding in some speed again!!

Away I go, chat later!

Take Care
Laurie

Good Morning Cheetahs.
I haven't checked in for a couple of days. I've just been busy. I have been keeping up with my Nov rotation though. I think that the rotation is good for me right now since I can't do a whole lot of running. Today is drillmax for me. I like that workout. The cardio just seems so different and fun.

Christine, I'll be thinking of you and keeping you in my prayers.

Jess, My BIL just got back from Iraq a few weeks ago. He said the best thing about being back was seeing grass again.
Enjoy coremax and yoga!

Wendy, Enjoy your w/out today. My bootay is still a bit sore from B&G on sunday.

SunnyD, Good job on the walk. I envy all of you that can get up early and w/out. My body doesn't seem to like early am w/outs.

Shelly, Enjoy that hilly run. Better you than me! LOL I am not a hilly run type of gal! I always try to find the least hills when I run outside!

OK, I am going to get a shower. Today is visit your child's class to day so I am off to school in a bit!
LD

runnergirl-following the november rotation will be a great workout!!
christine- you are in my thoughts and prayers!!

judy- thats okay about not addressing everyone, that can be time consuming to remember all of us at times!!

okay- I want opinions please. Next week I want to up my cardio sessions making them longer for class because of the holiday and all the eating we will be doing. I was opting for rotations of plan old running for 4 minutes intervals and the stairs or doing more of plyometric type exercises. If I go with running and the stairs it would be running the track for 4 minutes then wts then running the stairs 4minutes then wts. I want it to be a calorie blasing workout though. I know plyometrics burn tons of calories also, so If I go this route I would do 1 minute high knees,1minute ice crushers,1minute squat jumps 1 minute power lunges , just examples. then after the 4 minute rotation of plyo's I would do wts then start over again. What do you all think would be best?

thanks ,hope you all have a nice day!:)

Good morning cheetahs

Wendy...great job with DM!! Have you done B&G all the way thru yet?

Cathy...so, what are you thinking of Dancing with Stars? Hope you get thru the paper grading easily...

Jess...enjoyed Allison's Lip Gloss story! Hope your PT appt goes well. Glad to hear your brother had a safe trip. My thoughts & prayers with him and all the brave soldiers.

Sunny...hope this ankle thing goes away soon, I bet it does before the big day!

Shelly...so happy to hear your adductor is getting better. I think we are all having quite a love affair with these new workouts!!

Runnergirl...have fun with DM. I do like it because it is different...

Judy...sorry about the PC problems. Sounds like your new entertainment cabinet will be wonderful.

Laura...definitely sounds like a cardio blasting workout!

Christine...cute Dunkin comm'l! Not sure I have seen that one, but you know me, not a huge fan of donuts..:)....I know all this waiting for the tests and stuff is not fun. I am glad Ved is by your side. Good vibe thoughts and prayers coming your way...http://www.digitalmediatree.com/library/image/12/hug.gif[/img]

Susan..I am glad your sciatica is feeling better. Good job with B&G.

Mattea...it was a nice run without rain. Yes LIC is quite fun. I have not tried the bonus cardio yet. Nice to hear you and DH had a good weekend..:)...so YOU had a bit of rain for your run...maybe next time it'll be clear!

Linda...pizza and chips & dip?....one of my favorite meals! Yes a run and then DM would really tire the legs! Not sure it'd be any easier switched..:)

Laurie...I am with on the love of B&G abs! Hope your date and choc cake was tasty...:)...have fun with the DM premix today and enjoy your long morning...:)

Barb...I just did 3 of the LIC intervals before my run. I was tired when I woke up anyway and the run was tough. I am feeling alot more awake today...

I am doing a 5-6 mile run and then either Pilates or Yoga.

Have a great day...:)

Good morning Cheetahs. I've been busy so haven't had time to read and reply to you all here. Today I have a 6 mile run and GS Legs floor only scheduled. I'm going to run a marathon in about three weeks so I have not had the opportunity to try any of Cathe's new stuff or my new Jari Love RTTC DVD. Hopefully it won't take me too long to recover after the marathon because I am anxious to give them a try.

Christine, You've been in my thoughts and prayers since I first read about what you are going through and you are still there! Even though I only met your DH briefly he sure seemed like a good guy. I imagine that he is worried and scared too. I'm so glad that he's being a bit more sensitive right now but he's a guy so it does not surprise me that he needed a whack upside the head! Anyway, I'll be on the lookout for news and praying that it is all good.

Wendy, You crack me up almost every single day!!! The amount of energy you put into choosing a workout should definately count toward the workout you end up doing! Thanks for the chuckle!

Jess, I am just in awe of our soldiers! I can imagine the stress your family must feel while your brother is potentially in harms way. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with your brother and your entire family. Does the PT tell you when you will be able to attempt running again?

Sunny, I'm hoping your knee behaves for you this weekend. Believe me, I know what it is like to have a run coming up and some pain and/or discomfort seem to come out of nowhere.

Shelly, I'm happy to see that your groin problem is well on the way to getting better. Sounds like you've got your typical kicka$$ workout on tap for today!

Laurie, OK. I need the chocolate date cake recipe!

LD, I'm glad to hear that even though you've been busy that it has not affected you getting your rotation workouts done!

Judy, HI!

Laura, Your idea sounds good to me!

Carole, Which yoga will/did you do? I did one of my Baron Baptiste's on Monday thinking I wanted a good stretch and nothing more after Sunday's run. Yoga is definately a workout in itself, I always seem to forget this when I haven't done it in a while. I ended up doing just part of it then popped in Stretch Max and did the stability ball stretch.

Hi to everyone else stopping by later!

Good morning ladies,
I am going to attempt cardio fusion today. I was checking it out yesterday and there are some awesome premixes on that one. I did not know there would be premixes on that one too. I am looking forward to it. Cathe really outdid herself with this series.

I have to bake like 5 loaves of cinnamon bread for a party in my daughters classroom. I am room mom. I will never do that again. It is a LOT of work. So, I am hoping I don't sample everyone of them. I have to admit my eating was horrible yesterday. I had about 4 twinkies and a bunch of crap all day. Today is another day and I am going to do better.

I had my massage yesterday and the therapist said that I need more protein. She said I have so much lactic acid buildup and that the protein will help flush some of that out. So, I bought a big tub of protein powder from her with Whey in it and a bucn of other healthy stuff. It has 18 grams of protein for one serving and only 150 calories. Anyway, I am supposed to drink one right after my workouts.

Well, I am off to drop my girls off and then some serious baking. Have a great day ladies and wish my luck on Cardio fusion}(

Cheers!
Susan

Now that was a BLAST!!! I gave the scrambled cardio blast premix from DM a go and thought it was a fabulously intense cardio session at a mere 46 minutes! Just for fun I followed that with the u/b work from DM and I just finished 45 minutes of yoga, I could get used to these decreased work hours}( ;-)

Elaine I'll PM you that recipe:) You are such an inspiring runner and person, I can't believe you are running a marathon in 3 weeks:eek: :7

Susan, it's interesting how every place is different. As a registered Massage Therapist in Ontario I would be completely out of my scope and risk losing my license if I prescribed and sold nutrition products to clients (unless I was also a qualified/certified nutritionalist). Hope the increased protein works for you.

Carole, have fun with your run and yoga/pilates! Yes the cake was pretty yummy although I should have taken it out of the over a few minutes sooner. Today I have to deal with some over ripe bananas, I wish I could just chuck stuff but I have to use it up or it makes me crazy.

Quick hello to Laura, LD and Judy, have a wonderful day!

Take Care
Laurie:)

Laurie, I'll be looking for that recipe! TIA!!! The marathon in 3 weeks is just for fun.....no time goals this time except maybe alive in under five;-) .

Susan, Does your massage therapist also have a background in nutrition? I tend to be skeptical when someone touts something that they just happen to sell although I'm sure a recovery drink will help. After my weekend long runs I drink a whey protein smoothie and they are so delicous and cold after putting my body through so much work. I have never heard that additional protein gets rid of lactic acid buildup though. I wonder how she could tell that you had that going on?

>I have never heard that additional protein gets rid of lactic acid buildup though. I wonder how she could tell that you had that going
>on?

I thought the same thing, lactic acid within muscle tissue is produced by anaerobic respiration and is a product of glucose and glycogen metabolism. I guess the argument could be that protein's function as an element in proper elimination of waste materials justifies the sale. Epsom salts and stretching take care of lactic acid as well though.:) I'm such a geek I'll have to go check out my physiology/kinesiology texts and see what I can figure out. The therapist cannot 'feel' lactic acid build up but can make an educated guess I suppose.

Take Care
Laurie

Good Morning Cheetahs!

Christine!!! I was so relieved to hear the results of your ultrasound yesterday. I'll still be keeping you in my thoughts until everything is settled for sure, but you have no idea the smile that put on my face. I'm also glad your DH has "come around". Take a few extra rest days here and there where you need them and just concentrate on enjoying everything around you. Giant {{{HUGS}}}

Wendy-I swear that I had that exact "conversation" with my DH at least twice last week, lol! I did B&G today and ran yesterday, and it was pretty brutal, so I think you're definitely planning the right order.

Cathy-If I'm not soaked when I come back from a run I just don't feel "right", lol! When I was little my parents used to take us for hikes along the creeks near our house and 9 times out of 10 I needed change of clothes when I got home.

Laura-Okay, I take it back---after hearing what you put your boot campers through I'm fine just where I am ;-) Wow, it sounds like they get a great workout! How do you have them hold the med ball while running with it? Laura-My opinion would be to mix it up 3 min. running the track, 1 min. power (plyo drill), wts, 3 min. stair running, 1 min. power drill, wts, etc. The best (and worst) of both worlds.

Barb-I can barely say the word fartlek around myself ;-)

Jess-I know you're a great mom and I'm glad to offer a comparison between you and your Grandma, who sounds like she was one terrific lady as well. I saw your commercial again this morning and have to say I really love your hair! Mine's straight as board and I've always wanted the curly locks:D I'm glad your brother is safe! What courage he must have.

Sunny-Hope the ankle pain works itself out.

Shelly!!-Great to hear from you! Who would have time to post with those killer workouts you do}(

Laurie-Let me know which premix you decide on. I love almost everything about DM, except I feel so silly doing the fast runs in the football drill, lol!

LD-Have fun at school:)

Judy-Enjoy the new ET center. Will Cathe get played there or do you workout in another room?

Carole-Yes, I was soaked:7 And today there is nothing but sunshine, lol. What's a cheetah to do?

Elaine-What marathon are you getting ready to run? Wow, what amazing restraint you have in not at least trying the new Cathe's on a 4 in. platform. That is some serious focus!

Susan-I'll be happy to sample each loaf for you if you'd like! Let me know all about CF as that's on tap for me tomorrow and I'm nervous/excited, lol!

Hi to all the other cheetahs who stop by!

Today was B&G. Man that one just doesn't let up. You feel the burn on absolutely every exercise. I'm loving the lighter leg weights in this series and I think I'm already seeing a difference.
God bless Cathe!
Mattea

Hey there Cheetahs!

Over all, I’m in a great frame of mind. Still a bit tired from this cold, but I did Cardio Fusion (on a 6” step) this morning and had a ball. I love the LIC combo she picked because it’s easy to make high impact. I really enjoyed this and can definitely see this one becoming one of my favorite cardio dvd’s. I’m a bit weak in the upper body right now, so I think I’m going to spend the rest of the week focused on lower body and cardio. I plan to do B&G tomorrow in it’s entirety – haven’t done the standing work yet. So, I’m excited. If I get up in time, might add some cardio before hand. And again, ladies – your love and support is absolutely making its way to me here, and I so appreciate it. I really feel grounded now.

Wendy – I understand about the running getting more difficult to find time for! Hope that eases for you soon! I think your plan for B&G today and a run tomorrow is perfect. You don’t need no stinkin’ rest days! LOL

Jess – glad to hear your brother made it safely to Kuwait. He remains in my prayers. I’m surprised at how common thyroid issues are. Have fun at PT, and enjoy yoga and CoreMax.

Sunny – good idea to take it slow. You’ll be fine, and I can’t wait to hear about your race on Saturday!

Shelly – I love hearing from you what I suspect as well! Thank you! I really do think these are benign. I’ll let you know as soon as I know anything more. I did not get a call last night from either doctor, so that’s always a good sign!

Laurie – hugs are ALWAYS welcome! Thanks sweetie! Enjoy your long workout – sounds like a good one to me!

LD – Glad you’re enjoying the November rotation. I like Drill Max, too, except for Drill # 3 – that one is boring. LOL. Enjoy seeing your little one in class! How fun!

Judy – wow! That sounds great! Enjoy your new cabinetry. Let us know how it looks – a photo or two would be nice!

Laura – I want to take your class! That sounds like fun! I think you should alternate – one class do the running, the next the plyo’s… Keep ‘em guessing.

Carole – I was actually more wide awake this morning, so no donut commercial ran through my head. I don’t like donuts either, actually. I find them very easy to resist – they’re here at work every Friday! Fun. Enjoy your run.

Elaine – Yeah, Ved is good for the most part. What is it with men? I know, I know – if I could answer that, I’d have the world at my feet (at least all the women!). I do think he thought I might be over reacting until yesterday. When the technician went out and the doc came in, he sat up and gave me an odd look. He was ultra sweet to me last night and this morning. How are you doing? Glad to see you here. How’s the training going for the Boston Marathon?! How exciting!

Susan – I did Cardio Fusion for the first time today, too! Fun, fun, fun! Good luck with your cinnamon bread – 5 loaves?! Holy cow! Yeah, sampling would be tempting. I drink a protein shake after my workouts. I want to use up the one I have now (it’s more milk based) and switch to the hemp one again, but that’s a very acquired taste. LOL

Mattea – I can’t wait to do B&G straight through! Funny, this whole thing really taught me a few things. It’s interesting to be confronted with the idea of your own mortality. I think it’s good, actually. It made me realize that I have actually done a lot, seen a lot, and have a lot of love in my life. If I do have to go, I could go with few regrets – except when it comes to DD. I really want to see her grow up and see my grandkids. And I will. But, it’s nice knowing that my 42 years have brought me so much. I need to appreciate that more moving forward.

I have decided what I will do! Aren't y'all proud !?!? :7 :7 :7

Butts and Guts today
TM Run tomorrow
Friday will be a rest day

I am so awful at making decisions when it comes to my work outs! LOL There are so many choices...it makes it so tough but w/o the variety I would get bored waaaay too fast!

Well, if I'm gonna do this, I'm gonna do it NOW! Hope I can walk tomorrow let alone RUN!

Laurie and Elaine,
My massage therapist said she could feel the inflammation and the excess tissue in the body and that my muscles were not recovering properly and that there was so much lactic acid in my body that she could feel. She said that the protein will help the muscles recover more efficiently and that I would have less tightness. Does that makes sense? I do think that I definitley need more protein. I don't eat red meat and very little chicken. I eat mostly beans, grains and CRAP!(LOL) She sold me this shake product by metergenics. Anyway, if you guys have some advice or some more knowledge on this, feel free to bring it on. This lady is definitley colorful in personality. I like her,but you are right she probably should not be counseling me on nutrition. She also said I should be taking the omega 3's. I am not great at popping vitamins.

Thanks guys for looking out for me lady cheetahs!

Okay, I am off to do my Cardio Fusion and then more baking.

Susan

mattea- Usually we will run with the med ball overhead , it kills my arms and gets the heart rate right up there. thanks, I think your right, doing the 1minute of plyo's and mixing them in with stairs and track will be hard enough. I was thinking that 4 minutes of straight plyo's might be to much unless I gave 30sec recovery periods.

christine- every class is different, never the same. we did lots of plyo stuff mixed in with some basic moves this morning.

carole- a few people in my class asked if i was going to up the cardio for the holidays, so I am giving them what they asked for.
they will probably hate me during class but thank me after class. evil I know!!!!

I'm finally back!!! I was getting ready to go to my PT appt & my tooth (which is a crown) cracked!!!! I was actually opening my contact lens bottle (w/ my teeth, bad me!), but it wasn't anything that I haven't done a million times!! But, y'day I went to the dentist for a bleaching of that tooth underneath (which is darkening)& he had made a small hole in the back. So... that weakened the crown & it cracked!! And they weren't open til noon so I had to go to PT w/ a cracked tooth. I didn't even want to smile at anyone, it looked horrible!!!! Oh well, the PT was very sweet, it was a lady this time. She gave me a couple more stretches to do & did the u/s w/ the cortisone cream again on my IT band. I could really feel the heat this time, but in a good way!! She said it will really help to loosen up the IT band & help it heal quicker. I'm able to go deeper in my stretches now w/ just a bit of pain in my hips still so that's progress! I'm going to give it til maybe Monday to attempt a run again. Thankfully my friend Marsha had Allison so after my appt I went there for a bit & then she watched her again when I went to the dentist. Gotta love good friends! I have a temp crown on it for now & the *real* crown will be in on Dec 4th. So I'll have to wear this temp until then!! Thank God we got our pics done already!!

So.. got CoreMax done this morning. I am not feeling motivated for yoga & think I'll just stretch & do my pilates later tonight as usual. I'm really feeling like hanging out here for a bit! ;-)
